I am wanting to rent points to stay at a resort. Once I have everything in place, can I make my own dining reservations for a couple of choice restaurants? I do not plan on using the DDP. Thanks, denise:confused3

Yes, you'll just need to call 1-407-WDW-DINE to make those dining reservations.

Yes, you can by calling 407-WDW-Dine like any other WDW guest onsite or not.
You will not be able to call member services to make the dining reservations however. Only members can do that.

You don't need to wait until you have your rental all set.
You can make dining reservations 180 days in advance of the meal...whether you have accommodations arranged or not. If you are trying for popular restaurants during popular times, it's a good idea to make the reservations as early as you can.

We can make our dining reservations through member services?
Is it generally a smoother process to use member services or do most people just call WDW-DINE?

most people cal wdwdine - ms will transfer you over - they don't have access to the reservation programs.

It appears that some do have access, and others may not. I have been transferred to to dining, and I'm pretty sure it is required when booking a venue that requires pre-payment, like Hoop-De-Doo, or a deposit.
However, when I recently canceled a DVC room reservation, the same CM was able to cancel my dining reservations.
When I am calling just for dining, I usually call dining directly rather than going through Member Services.

I've usually called WDW Dining as well but MS made some for me recently. Can't remember if it was my "one time make all the reservations cal"l or a later one with a change or two but I was impressed. And of course, it's toll free. When you're making a bunch of them, that's nice.

I always had a 1-800 number for dining reservations, but, alas, it no longer works.
I called MS and they got me all set! No toll call.
