Poor Norman!!!!! :worried:

I felt so bad for Norman - his probably would have been the best if ... (I don't want to ruin the surprise for those tivo-ers)

The bed was a bit much for me. Sometimes bigger isn't better.

The bed was cool, but it took up waaaaaaaaaay too much time. Did you see poor Buzz and Woody? Not alot of detail, they sort of looked slapped together and originally the penquin was in the design, guess they had to cut him, but gee the headboard of the bed was beautiful! :rotfl:

The judges were far nicer than I expected. My DD's really wanted to watch this but about 5 minutes into it were snoring. A little late for the little ones.

My favorite was the cake that won. I think that team deserved it. (Trying not to give anything away...)

Would you mind PM'ing me with the name of the winner and what cake it was?

I fell asleep right after the judges talked to all of the winners and they were about to line up for the big announcment.

Anyone else watch "Ace of Cake's" My DD's love Duff. What a great guy!

I know! .... But what I didn't get was that guy (Norman) is a veteran of those challenges and an expert baker, I don't understand how he didn't know or have an idea of how long Sully's fur would take doing all that piping...and Sully was so BIG. I mean he is a big guy, but I didn't think he needed to be as big as the made him. :confused3

That too! I forgot about that. I knew that wasn't going to stand up like that and believe me, I know next to nothing about baking! I know he needed height, but he could have made a cake base and made that door smaller or better yet, made it out of something besides cake. :confused3

No kidding. I do think if he had put lots more vertical slats (I seem to recall he had it in 3 sections) it might have had a chance of staying put.

I think he is at the point where he has done so many of these, he doesn't practice ahead of time. Surely he could have helped himself by trying it ahead.

Just watched this, I actually thought the second place cake was better, lots more going on and it was far more imaginative. Anyway, I should have been rooting for the winner since she lives about 30 mins from me! Neat show though, the cake that came in last was neat...for a while...

 I thought the exact same thing. Why didn't he make a cake base and make the door out of Rice Krispies treats and slant the door a little. Then, it would have stayed up as opposed to slowly falling off. I felt so bad when Sully fell. That man piped on all the hair. :rolleyes1 It took so sooooooooooo long. It was very heart-breaking to see it fall into his arms. Overall, it was very poor planning.

I thought the Toy Story Mania cake was the worst. They spent sooooooo much time on the bed. Yes, the bed was great. But, the characters looked terrible. Poor Woody was slanted and leaned up against the bed.

The cake that came in second was actually falling apart at the seams (A Bug's Life). Flik looked great. But, you could see the tree trunk coming apart when they transferred it to the table. Also, it only had two characters (plus one I didn't even recognize).

:cool1: Personally, I liked the Nemo cake the best. All the characters looked right. Crush was so cute as part of the cake. Very creative. I did agree with the judges that it needed something in the back (more coral or another character). But, out of all the finished cakes it was my favorite.

:thumbsup2 I watch Ace of Cakes too. They make some of the most amazing cakes. Did you see the Hogwarts Castle cake episode. It is truly amazing what they can do with sugar and fondant.
