S/D Teacher Rate ????????

I has wondering what proof you had to show for the Teacher Discount, and the actual rules of the discount.

DW holds a current Teaching Certificate, but is currently on extended LOA to stay home with the kids, meaning she is not currently drawing a paycheck. Would she qualify for the discount within the rules or even within the spirit of the discount?

I'm not trying to take the high road here, but I know that teachers deserve all the perks they can get, and with "limited availability", I wouldn't want to, nor will I every knowing take a discount that we didn't deserve.

A copy of her certificate will work fine. I am also at home this year with my DD and we got the discount in March. I had a copy with me, but was never asked to see it. It was really nice to stay there. In our case all the discounted rooms were gone when I called the hotel, but DU was able to get us one. Both the resservations at the hotel and the DU agent said I could use my certificate. Enjoy your vacation.:D

Thanks for the info. Does anyone have a general opinion on the availablility of this discount. Is it hard or easy to get, or like all discounts it depends on the time of the year?

One of the easiest ways to check availability is to go to the Dreams Unlimited page here on the Dis and type in your dates, you can check without making a commitment. I was looking for rooms for next Oct/Nov and was surprised to see only part of my dates available yesterday. I know that DU will continue to look for discounts even after you have booked, so I think I am going to go ahead and book the higher rate and hope they can get all my dates before we leave.:D
