This might not "fit" here on the Podcast board, but I couldn't think of a better spot. In today's NY Times there is an interesting story about the Disney & Pixar merger. This link will get you there:

Thanks for the link. That was really interesting article! :thumbsup2
I didn't like this part though
And the Pixar team, which also has oversight of Walt Disney Animation Studios and the DVD-focused DisneyToon Studios, decided that it was O.K. to outsource some direct-to-DVD animation to an Indian company, a departure from its rigid stance that outside animators could not deliver the necessary quality. (Mr. Lasseter will still closely monitor the efforts, however.)
Outside animators? Outsourcing animation to India? Not ok! :headache:
I'm very curious to see how Wall-E does. It looks really cute to me, but I had to laugh to the reference to the movie Short Circuit. I KNEW Wall-E looked like someone!
Cars on ice???? :confused3 Ummmmm, ok.

when I was working at Radio Disney, we were told that Disney would not be releasing anymore of their classics in sequel form straight to DVD. We were told it cheapens the Disney name and quality of what its audience expects.
I hope that position has not changed!

I actually read something like this somewhere too. I can't remember, but it was a Disney site and I think that John Lasseter is the one who really opposed the straight to DVD sequels. I think he was really unhappy with the Tinkerbell movie, it was originally supposed to be released I think last year and he wanted it re-worked and made the sequel statements at the same time.
