Wow, I really like this shot. Usually, the moving water shots are just water (waterfalls, streams etc) but putting another main subject in really gives this photo some strength. Nice job!

Thanks! The subject of the photo (he's my brother) couldn't care less if I was taking a picture or not but luckily fly fisherman seem to stand still and mess around with their equipment a lot so he didn't really move for the length of the exposure. It was also an overcast day which helped. Here's some others in the same series...

Argh!
My web host upgraded from php4 to php5 last night - shouldn't have been a problem, but there may have been intermittent outages, and then php was using up too much memory and I needed to open a ticket to figure out where it was looking for php.ini. I finally got those errors ironed out, but I did see that I'm getting close to filling up my allotted disk space... might have to move up to a higher plan pretty soon. Sigh!
Anyway... :)
I thought of a few other shots.

Groucho.......I thought that King Triton shot looked familiar. ;) Here's one of mine.
You posted that shot (or a nearly identical one) a couple months ago and I remember thinking "gee, that looks awfully familiar." :teeth: Really nice work with the other ones, too, especially the Grizzly River Run one. And the subs - I didn't realize that you could get so close to them when I was there.
Here's one more shot, this was a spur-of-the-moment attempt to take a "blurred water" shot while handholding and not using an ND filter. ISO 100, F27, 1/15th of a second. Not a great shot by any means, certainly pretty crummy composition, but as I said, it was kind of a quick experiment to see how well it'd work. In retrospect, I should have taken a high-speed shot from the same place for comparison.

Not out of place, TheLionKing. Can you tell us more about the shot?
Sure. It is an ocean wave, probably about 2 foot face, approaching the beach. I pan with the motion during the 1/5 second shutter speed. This was taken around sunrise in Santa Barbara, California.

ReAnSt: IIRC, the King Triton statue is right next to the castle, on a side walkway... to the right I think? I'm sure NostalgicDad can tell you off the top of his head. :)
Can you tell us what your camera settings are?
Sure thing. That was taken with my 31mm F1.8 lens, ISO 200 (probably because I had dynamic range enhancement on), F16, 10 seconds, +1/2 exposure compensation, aperture priority mode. Taken from a tripod, of course. I usually don't use anything as high as F16 but I think I was trying to go for a longer shutter speed to smooth out the water (I don't think I even thought about the windmill spinning in the background! a happy accident). My only regret is that I'm still not happy with the color of the rocks... but I just couldn't get anything satisfactory without throwing the entire background (which is lit by different color temperature lights) out of whack, so I eventually just went with what you see.
BTW, I always have my exif data attached to my shots, so you can see it right from the picture itself. If you have Firefox (and if you don't, you should ;) ), grab the Fxif add-on. If you use IE, grab the Opanda Exif Viewer (there may be others too, but I don't use IE so I'm not sure). These let you right-click a photo on a web page and you'll see the exif data.

ReAnSt........Groucho is right about the location. If you are facing the castle, it's to the right sort of behind some trees. There is a walkway directly in front of the statue and there is an Ariel statue on the opposite side of that walkway. There is another pathway that goes behind the pool of water and goes into TomorrowLand. Here's another perspective of that area........
http://ddbimages.smugmug.com/photos/183670657_or7Tm-XL-1.jpg
And here's the Ariel statue that includes more running water just to stay on topic. :goodvibes (It's tough to get that silky water effect in bright, mid-day sunlight so pardon the overexposed areas ;) )

Hey, I was right about the location! :woohoo: :lmao:
But I didn't know there was an Ariel statue on the other side - I woulda taken that shot instead if I had known. Now if only they could have a water splash and a little "bounce" for her it'd match the movie perfectly. :rotfl:
Guess that's something to remember for the next trip...

I did a little test the other day. I went to a local river and photographed it at 6pm when the light was still a bit too much to really slow down the shutter, then I went back at 8pm then the light was real low so I could slow it down to whatever I wanted basically. The scene was pretty much the same for each (other than landscape vs portrait photos) but the results are entirely different. The photos won't WOW you to death, but I liked the results anyways. The river is slightly affected by the tide so the water had risen a bit, I like how at 8pm it liooks like ice.

Just a note about that add-on, it does work if you are using the 3.0.5 beta FireFox. Many of the add-ons do not yet work with this version.

Here is my addition, I have only had the d60 for a couple of weeks, and I am just learning. I played with this a little in PSP trial, my second try at using the program. LOL Hope you like it.

sometimes it helps to have a filter of some kind( ie nd) if you are in bright light so you can get it low enough...and a tripod :)

Yes!
Ok, so I went on my lunch today and took some photos of a fountain near work. It did make the water look smooth and really cool but the subjects are REALLY bright!! I will post pocs when I get home since I am still at work, but do I need to change the aperture setting as well or something??? I even tried on an indoor fountain and got the same thing. What am I doing wrong???

They could be overexposed. Check to see that your ISO is set low and (when using shutter priority) pick the shutter speed that is long enough to give you the blur but not too long that it lets in too much light (camera will pick the aperture based on what shutter speed you pick; the reverse is true in aperture priority). You'll probably have to play around with it a bit (using the arrows on the S3) until you get the right combination. Try some more.

Cool...an old thread with a neat subject! Here's a few of my Disney-based running or moving water shots:

Daytime slow shutter moving water shots were taken with the assistance of an ND400 filter.

The white stuff on the sand is snow! A few feet back of that shot (where I'm standing) is covered in snow.
