For about two years, I have been silently suffering from different aches and pains. First they found out i had severe scoliosis, so i had a spinal fusion for that, then today i got dx with fibromyalgia and it is good to know that my other pains have a name. It took me 1 1/2 year to get this dx. My rheumy put me on Lyrica for the next three months and in about a month i have to see him again to see if he needs to up my dose or reduce it. Is anyone else suffering from this?

I used to suffer horribly with fibromyalgia, until I went to a new doctor who diagnosed me with celiac disease. Once I went on a gluten-free diet, my aches and pains gradually disappeared. The exhaustion has been slower to lift, but I am seeing that get better slowly, especially after I stopped eating dairy foods in addition to continuing to eat gluten-free. My doctor says I am about half-way to being fully recovered - it takes a long time to reverse the intestinal damage from celiac, but it is going to eventually completely reverse itself. It is the closest thing to a medical miracle that I have ever experienced.
I hope you find relief with the regimen your doctor prescribes for you. Fibromyalgia is no fun!

My mother does. She was diagnosed a few years ago, but has suffered for probably the last 10-12 years with it. The doctors around here don't seem to know alot about it. I think she is on Lyrica right now, which has helped some, but still suffers with pain a lot. She doesn't know from day to day when it is going to flair up or what triggers flair ups. Most people around here haven't heard of the disease and just assume my mother is just lazy and that there isn't really anything wrong with her since she doesn't really have a visible disability.

Sorry about your diagnosis. I also have fibro, and Sjogrens Syndrome. Some days are quite difficult, and some are not as hard.
I do hope the Lyrica works well for you. I have heard some great success stories. I am waiting (anxiously) for my next Rheumy appt on the 20th of June, as I am having some hard flares right now. My Dr. is great, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. I do hope the same for you.
I also belong to a GREAT board that was suggested to me from someone here, it is butyoudontlooksick.com , and it is a great place to sound off, and help others in the same situation..
Gentle Hugs

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis, but glad that they found out for you. I have been inflicted for about 7 years. Some days are bad, some are good. I do not take the med though, good luck with it.

I have had fibromyalgia for almost 20 years. I have been fortunate enough to go into remission from time to time. I suffered horribly for the last two years. It was discovered in June that I have also had Lyme disease for the last two years. After four weeks of antibiotics I am about 90% better. I take a lot of herbals to boost my immune system and use massage therapy and traction on a regular basis. Don't be afraid to try different treatments. What works well for one doesn't always work for another. Keep you chin up and best wishes.
