All-Stars - what the heck is the deal with those "preferred" buildings?

I've understood up to now that "preferred" or $10 extra per night rooms have been limited to Fantasia at Movies, Calypso at Music and Surfs Up at Sports. However, I've recently seen reports that people are being charged "preferred" prices for rooms in Toy Story and 101 Dalmatians at Movies. Can anybody confirm this? Does it mean that more than half of Movies is now "preferred?" Have they added extra "preferred" buildings at Sports and Music? Heck, why not just stay at a moderate?

I agree. We stayed at the Dalmation building, the very back of it and it was still a small hike. Not worth paying extra when the ducks building was only a few steps from ours.

As of January the only prefered rooms at the ASMo were in the Fantasia. It is the closest to the main building .The idea is with the perfered room you are asured of being close to the main building (if that is indeed where you want to be) and with room request, you may or may not get what you request. We did the prefered room thing and were so please with our location that we will do it again.With a January AAA rate we were still under 70.00 with our prefered room.

I think that CRO just hasn't gotten their act together on this. I was told something different everytime I asked about it. I finally called ASMo and spoke to someone at the front desk - for what it's worth, she said that the only preferred rooms are in Fantasia.

I have heard that the reason that they are doing this 'preferred' thing now is because of all of the requests that they receive about a certain building that people want to stay in.

When i made ressies last week i was told that Toy Story was a preferred bldg. even AFTER she put me on hold to double check. Needless to say i didn't book anything with her 'cause i couldn't trust anything she told me! Thanks to these boards, i knew Fantasmic was the ONLY preferrred bldg. at ASMo. I called back, got a better CM, and made my ressies (although that CM also tried to automatically include cancellation insurance:mad: ). Got my room for $69 per nite:D

When I made my Ressies for June, I was asked if I wanted a Preferred View, and I said NO! Why? Because 4 days before I will FAX my building request and STILL get the Building I want, with NO extra Charge! I did this for Feb. and got Building 1 for Sports!:D
