Is it necessary to call day by day for reservation at the 11 month mark for a 1 bedroom?

I would. There are a much smaller number of one bedrooms at HH and July is an extremely busy time.

July is peak, depending on the week (4th) you would need to call day by day.

If a 1BR is what you want, I would definitely call day-by-day, no matter which week in July you want. There are only 21 1BR units at DHHIR and they go quickly!
I call day-by-day every year for our 2BR, even tho there are more of them than 1BRs.

Hilton Head in July!?!?!?!?!?!? Are you mad? 90+ temps with 100% humidity?
Spend as much time as you can in the AC or in the ocean. The 80+ degree water will seem quite tepid.
Welcome to my life. :)
We went over to HHI yesterday for business reasons and just had to stop off at the resort. I got a Mickey Head ice cream sammage.
We have a Grand Villa for Christmas and took a peak around and decided that we will try to get Villa 18 if we can.
It was a plesant visit, but, warm!
