Hi, ladies! I am interested in opinions of those of you that have and use the Vera Bradley hipster. A young friend of mine showed me her hipster today while a work. I am considering purchasing one for WDW. Granted I have been a fanny pack girl for years. I like the hands free convenience of the fanny pack. Will I like the hipster? I liked the pockets and organization of the hipster. I just don't know if I will like the bag hanging around my neck or body.:confused3 Opinions and advise welcome!

HAVE AND LOVE IT! I can fit lots of essentials without being bulky. I recommend the small wallets and/or use the id case as a place to stash money, KTTW card, and a credit card. Perfect size to hold maps and such. I will admit, if you have a big or bulky camera it can get annoying though.

I recently purchased one on-line and will be trying it at WDW in a few weeks. I have heard good things about it. I will be comparing it to the Baggallini messenger bag. My current bag is a wallet bag that I love, but it is just too small. :worried: Fanny packs just don't do it for me, as much as I would love not having to worry about a strap hanging from my neck!

I was wondering the same thing! Although I have a 4 year old and while I don't need to carry diapers etc., I will need to bring certain things for those "just in case" moments. I just don't feel like carrying around a big backpack in the heat. I thought maybe the Vera Bradley bags would be a little easier/cooler. Of course DH is gonna love me for that..."Oh honey, could you hold the bag for me?":rotfl:

The Vera Bradley Hipster is a great bag! Note that there are two sizes - the regular Hipster (which unfortunately is being retired this summer) and the Mini Hipster, which actually holds a lot despite its name. I think you will be more than happy with either one (or both, for that matter!)

I just ordered the mini-hipster on line from Vera Bradley. It shipped out yesterday. It was 25% off, I got the pink elephants pattern which is retiring soon. I ordered mine for our Aug. Disney trip. I hope it holds a Sony cybershot camera. I can't wait for mine.

I love it!! It hangs perfectly on your shoulder (no irritation to your neck either) and you can fit so much stuff into it without it getting heavy. This is definitley a must buy. If you like fanny packs you will love the hipster-- it's the fanny pack's more fashionable cousin! :) The regular Hipster is retiring so it is on sale. I would recommend the Hipster to anyone and everyone!! Welcome to the Vera Bradley Sisterhood! ;)

I have the regular hipster and love it too!! It is easily adjustable, so you can make sure it doesn't irritate your shoulder! Just make sure you only bring the necessities, as it doesn't hold all that much. I also have the backpack and it holds a lot more!:goodvibes

I have several different styles of Vera Bradley bags...I've been a fan for a few years now.
I just got my sister the mini-hipster for her birthday with our October trip in mind....I really think it'll be a great bag for the parks!

They make the mini hipster and the regular hipster. I ordered a bunch of stuff today online with Vera bradley and also ebags (found a promo code w/ ebags for free shipping but they didn't have everything i wanted)

It looked like the hipster may be discontinued?:confused3 they were all marked down, where the mini hipster only had certain patterns marked down.

If you are buying the hipster or mini check out the zip up id case... (i prefer the rectangle one not the circle kind)... they are also on sale for 7.50 and I use it to hold credit cards and store cards::yes::

for me the regular hipster is too big. I'd recommend to go to Vera Bradleys website and get the dimensions...whip out the old tape measure to see what size it would be.:)

Then if they have the one you are looking for on ebags you can get free shipping with a promotional code...under google type in "promotional code for ebags".. they won't accept the % off coupons for vera bradley, but they will give you the free shipping one.::yes::

::yes::

The hipster is discontinued, but dont get too upset, they are just improving on it with some little changes....from what I understand, they are making it a tad deeper, changing the attachment point of the strap, and changing the front pocket a bit. The other things that are showing up on sale as far as select patterns are the discontinued patterns, there are 4. Card stores and some luggage stores carry the bags by me and they have all the discontinued patterns and styles on sale :)

i used a mini hipster last time at WDW, and mother used the hipster. The mini was great for me because it fit in my diaper bag as like a wallet with extra, but I could take it out and just take that if i was going on a ride or somehting and leave the diaper bag in the stroller with mom and dad and baby....It all depends on how much stuff you want to carry with you as to which one works better for you!!

I got the Hipster after reading great reviews on the DIS. I love all my Vera Bradley bags and this one seems perfect for Disney World. I will find out in a few months!

I'm fortunate to live a few miles from where the corporate office is for Vera Bradley in Ft. Wayne, In. and went to there annual sale the first week in May... I bought $200. in several varieties and patterns of merchandise and didn't pay over $20.00 for any item....Was great fun...
I leave for Disney tomorrow and will be taking the hipster, the messenger bag is very nice too with a small handle or wide strap that goes over your shoulder...lunch bag is nice, lined with plastic...

okay.. 2 mini hipsters, 1 hipster, 2 coin purses, wallet on strap, id zip case..hmm what else:rolleyes1

I usually bring the mini hipster, but figured for the great price I would order the hipster to throw in more stuff!
Then of course, you have to order the accessories that go with it::yes::

Can't wait for Fedex...it will be like Christmas around here:santa:

I just got one a week ago through ebags for $23 (I had a 25% off for ebags already and they had them on sale). Took it to New York last weekend and it's great to carry around. Fits my wallet, ipod, papers and the other stuff I do not want to leave in the hotel room.

I hate the pattern but it was the only pattern available.

My boss is going to Fort Wayne on business the same week we'll be in WDW....think he'd go shopping for me there? :rotfl2: (He might actually do it...he's a great guy!) I received my hipster yesterday in the Botanical pattern. It is lovely! :) My only quibble is that the strap seems a little long for me....I am 5'3"....but it may be just fine during actual usage. The bag was beautifully packaged and presented.

I know this is sort of an old thread but does anyone know where I could buy this for a decent price? All I see is $35+ and that's a litle steep for me right now.. thanks!

Looks like ebags.com has 4 different pattern on sale right now for $31.99 with free shipping ... that's the cheapest I've seen them. The original price is $54.00 so I don't know if you can do much better then that.
I just got my Hipster this week and love it. I don't think however that I'll be carrying it around the parks ... it will go along with me tho. I'm afraid to have it out in the heavy rain storms and right now I'm carrying my phone, wallet, camera, keys, iPod shuffle, and a couple of other small things and the bag is stuffed. I just got my Heys Travel Mate from QVC today and think that may hold a bit more.

I have 2 of the Hipsters and want to order the wallet. Does anyone have the zip around wallet? I would like to know if you can put your check book in it? I bought the velcro one and it is just bigger than what I wanted.

:lmao: Vera Bradley, my favorite form of "crack". :worship: I check ebags and VB website daily. They do have a mini hipster on Ebags for 26.99, I think in the Medallion pattern, the newest retiring patterns ( 4 of them) are a few dollars more. I love my Mini Hipster. Used my first one in Wash DC last month, and bought another in Classic Black when I got home with the mini wallet that fits inside perfectly. I also bought one for my mother who is going to WDW with me in Dec. She is going to love it--not too heavy, holds camera, cell phone, I pod and earphones, plus lip gloss and different credit cards or Dr. License. popcorn:: I am a plus size 22, 5"4, the strap of the Mini fit me perfectly. Mom has had back surgery and needs a smaller bag while on the move, I hope. The velcro on the flap held it shut pretty well although I checked it from time to time. It also has a zipper closure under the front flap for extra security so you don't have to worry about dumping things out. It did not bother my shoulders and I really tried to pay attention to that. All the interior pockets where a great size.

I considered the Hipster, but thought it was a tad too big for traveling on vacation, if you are sightseeing. It would be a great regular bag for daily use IMO. I ordered one as a gift and it was a tad smaller than what I thought which was great. The strap is wider and may be more comfy, but the cord strap on the mini is not bad. The new Hipster is cute with a flap close pocket on the front, while the old style has a flat profile. There are several for sale at really good prices on Ebags. Do you think I could work for Vera one day??

My MIL uses the zip around, the travel wallet may be large enough for a check book, take a look the measurements. The zip around has great pockets on the inside--not as familiar with the travel size. The travel size might be too big--which would mean that you would have to get a bigger Vera Bradley bag to carry it. I love that logic. :thumbsup2 Have fun shopping.

Oh perfect, thanks! I didn't realize it included shipping- I was afraid of paying an arm and a leg for that on top of the bag price. Not bad at all! So it holds a good amount of stuff? I visit the parks at least once a week and need a smaller bag than my full size purse. I'd like to fit in my wallet, sunglasses, and maybe a camera.. but wanted the purse to be compact. I think I'll order the classic black.. thanks again!

I'm having trouble with the Vera Bradley website ... do you have to be a registered member to add things to your cart ... I'm also not seeing the sales that others are talking about. Probably a good thing.
Are there other online sources (like ebags) for the smaller items like change purses an id tags?

You do not have to be a member to add to cart. If you have another computer maybe try that? ebages are good and you can usually find codes for free shipping on the internet. I believe the change purse & zip id case are listed under accessories. The discontinued ones at ebags are only about $8.40... FYI, ebags & vera bradley site have different items/colors in stock.

Here is a link for vera bradley zip id (incase it helps)http://www.verabradley.com/Site/Store/ProductDetail.aspx?Sku=246&
