I was reading one of my WDW books, and I understood it to say that some of the restaurants in Epcot do not participate in DDP. They mentioned France, Italy, and Japan. However, when I made my ADR, I was told I could use TS credits for these restaurants. What do you guys know? Thanks!

Those restaurants do participate in the dining plan. I know there was some info out a few months ago that said they didn't, but from what I understand, that was because at the time they were renegotiating their contracts with WDW. Not all WDW restaurants are owned by Disney even though they take the DDP. Someone correct me if any of my answer is wrong.:)

Here is a link that tells which restaurants are included on the dining plan. Happy planning!

The only restaurants I know that don't take the DDP are Rainforest Cafe, Bistro De Paris (the upstairs restaurant in France) and V&As.

Neither do Bongos, Fultons, House of Blues, Wolfgang Pucks (Upstairs), or any of the restaurants at Swan, Dolphin, or Shades of Green.

I know other people have done it but we were not allowed to use snack credits at the pastrie shop in France last year. It may have been a language barrier but I did understand "no" when I presented my KTTW card with dining plan information on it. I had to pay cash for our pastries that day.

Up until January '08 the only thing you could get there for a snack credit was water or soda. As of January '08 they are allowing snack credits for any of their pastries (no cheese plates, sandwiches, etc obviously). I went there my first night May 3rd and used three snack credits to get breakfast for the next several days.
Let me tell you a Napoleon or Pralineige at 0700 is really good, but the raspberry schuss doesn't taste as good the next day! They get stale quickly. If you get pastries for breakfast later in the week, be careful of the ones you choose.

Big River Grill is on the dining plan. and while in 2007 you could not use snack credits for pastries at Boulangerie, in 2008 you can.
You may be looking at a list that was released prior to the finalizing of the contracts with the restaurants that are not owned by Disney. Each year a number of them are left off the list until the contracts are finalized and then added.
The nonparticipants are all at Downtown Disney, with the exception of: the Rainforest Cafe outside AK, Bistro de Paris (Epcot) and Victoria & Albert's (GF).
