It is with tremendous grief and sorrow that I must share that my partner of 12 years and nine months, Page Hearn, died of a heart attack on May 17th, 2008, in Jersey City, NJ. Several of you met Page at the last NYC meet we had at the Duplex this spring, where we had a great time getting to know more DIS friends.

Disney brought us so much joy together, and we really loved meeting other GLBT Disney lovers like us thanks to the DIS. We had planned to attend Gay Days next week with friends from New York and Chicago, and had made plans to connect with some of you while we were there.

Thanks to everyone here for your kindness and support during this difficult time for me and my family. If you want more details or have any questions, please PM me.

Take care,

Steve Gutierrez

I wanted to share Page's obituary, which ran in the Chicago Tribune, where he lived for 26 years (and I for 13) before we moved to New York. It's a great article.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/reviews/critics/chi-hed-hearn-20-may20,0,2328536.story

I also found out that he was honored at the Joseph Jefferson Awards, which is Chicago's version of the Tony Awards for theater. He won a Jeff Award a few years ago, and they showed his photo while they read the following press release from City Lit Theater Company, where he worked for many years.

http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/the_theater_loop/2008/05/page-hearn-1959.html

I am so proud of the impact Page had on his fellow actors, family and friends. The legacy he's leaving in how he lived his life shows how his passion, dedication, and loyalty to his friends did matter. The comments left with both of the linked articles really speak to that aspect of his life.

The outpouring of love and support I've received from people has been tremendous. I can't thank you enough for expressing your condolences here, because it means so much to me that you care enough about a fellow DIS member to share your sympathies.

I am holding up pretty well. Now I'm dealing with settling his affairs, so am seeking the help of an attorney so I can focus on moving ahead. No one prepares you for how much work it takes to bring closure to the business affairs of another person, and that's why I'm getting help to do that part of the process.

I am fortunate that I have good friends around me in my new neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. We had moved here a week before Page passed, so at least I'm coming home to a place where we hadn't built many memories together yet. It does help to be able to get settled into the new place, and I count myself as lucky for that.

Thank you again, and I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing.

Love to all,

Steve

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

What beautiful tributes those are.

And more importantly, look at all the people who have come forward to say how Page touched their lives in a positive way. What more can any of us ask than to be remembered fondly by those who know us?

Hope you're doing well, Steve. We're here when you need to talk.
