aren't they free at some point for formal night/capt. gala or whatever? all i know is i was running through somewhere getting something (was by lumiere's) and got a free cocktail or too.

i think they are free during the captain's gala. they are also free during the concierge guest reception.

I'm looking at the 7 day navigator for The 3/23 cruise and it shows:

Saturday, 7:30 - 8:30 pm Sparkling Moments: Fine wines & champagne available in the Atrium Lobby.

Could there be a charge if it is available in the lobby? I am wondering if these are free...

Yes, you do have to pay for the wine & champagne offered in the atrium lobby. They have a nice selection and the cost ranges from $6-10 per glass ffrom what I remember.
Free drinks - Bahama Mama's and some other tropical cocktail as well as non alcoholic (shirley temples etc) were offered on Sunday night for the Captain's Gala. Also offered free drinks at the DVC meeting.

we were on the 3/23 cruise and there were free drinks on the lst formal night/meet the captain: mai tais (very good) and mahattens (o.k.) there were plenty ot waiters handing them out, so it would be easy to get a little goofy....
