I would love to hear from anyone that has done a resort exchange with any of the beach resorts in Florida. We are thinking about a week in Sanibel or Captiva and I'd like to hear what you all think of the resorts! Look forward to hearing your opinions!

Sanibel and Captiva are lovely areas - I highly recommend visiting. However, if it's just a beach you're looking for, why not go to Vero? I understand it's wonderful AND it's DVC, so your points will go much farther.

We will be staying at the Sundial Resort on Sanibel in 24 days! The island is loaded with condos that can be rented. So instead of using our precious DVC points, we're renting from the owner. We're getting a one bedroom condo right on the beach for $850, I think. Even with tax, trip insurance and a $25 booking fee, we're still only paying $950 or so for the week.
Check out http://www.shellonsanibel.com. The man who runs the site didn't have anything available for the week we wanted, but his site has a link to "Other Sanibel-Captiva Rentals." One of the 200 or so on that list met our needs. We've also used www.vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals By Owner) for this in the past.
We had done the same thing on Hilton Head a couple of years ago when we couldn't get into Disney. We stayed right on the beach in Palmetto Dunes. That's the same beach that Disney uses. We had a great time.

We tried to trade into Sanibel Island using DVC points with no luck.
I haven't stayed at any of them but all of the DVC exchange resorts on Sanibel and Captiva are highly reated except Shell Island which doesn't sound that bad either. All the rest ar 5* and rated 8.45 or higher. You can join TUG for $15 and get access to the ratings and more importantly, the reviews. You also get a free ad.

I'm tempted to try and use the Dorel Country club in Miamifor a couple of nights , if I ever fly in/out of there (mostly for the golf :). As far as a "beach break" goes I think Vero beach offers a much better points usage , unless of course you have points to burn, particularly if you just take a 5 day (non weekend ) break.
