Just curious, is there any predictable pattern for when people are dreamed? For example, has anybody ever gotten the Dream Fastpasses or lanyards or anything later in the afternoon? If you got dreamed, please list the approx. time, thanks!

4 time at WDW, all during 10am hour.
2 at DL, 10am hour and one at 2:30 (extra hour in park that night).

No real predictable pattern per law. People claim that more are granted in the earlier hours, but it may just be certain types. Theoretically the dream fast passes are given out earlier rather than later since you need to use them that day. The same also applies for the Castle stay as you need to do the paperwork, move your luggage, star in the parade all before early afternoon. But they should give stuff out all day.

9:20 am at MK, space mountain -
10:00ish am at Epcot, Aquarium -
8:50 am at AK, at rope drop
Hmmmm, it does fit the pattern of all early AM dreams!

We're locals so we visit the parks a lot...never been dreamed ourselves but have seen many, many given out and it's always been in the A.M.

I have never been "dreamed" but have also heard that the majority of the dreams are handed out in the first 2 hours the parks after rope drop. The earlier, I guess, the better.
Dreams are mostly handed out from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. Anything after that is probably going to be a larger dream; i.e. something other than lanyards, hats, and fastpasses.
I would also say the castle stay is usually awarded between 10:00AM and Noon.

Are these times opinions or do you have irrefutable scientific evidence to back up your claims.

I dunno about scientific evidence, but the people I know who won the castle stay won it around 10.

We got our dream fp at 10:15 in the studios at One Man's Dream.
We missed out on dream fp around 10:30 at Epcot in Innoventions.
We missed out on Ears around 1pm at the studios at Star Tours.
We saw the castle awarded at Soarin around 11am.

I've never seen a Dream Squad member, never seen a dream given out, and never won anything in 8 trips during the YOAMD :confused3
But...I always go into the parks around noon and stay until the nightly shows. So maybe it makes sense that the dreams are given out early, and that's why I've never seen one!
On my honeymoon I have an 8:05 ADR at CRT, and want to find paintbrushes at 10:00, so I think I'll probably miss em all again. :worried: I need to stop overplanning & just go with the flow I think.

Don't feel bad, we always go first thing in the morning and stay in the parks until at least early afternoon and have yet to see the Dream Squad. In fact, on our last trip, we only saw ONE family with FP lanyards, no special ears, etc. so they apparently weren't out much when we were there.

As I stated, I didn't remember the exact time, and was guess-timating. My family was never in DHS early in the day, so it was definitely later when we won.
From the official rules online:
"potential winners will be selected at the Disney Properties between opening and 5 pm local time; however, certain prizes...Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to select winners at the Disney Properties during any operating hours."
It also specifically mentioned the Dream Fast Passes as having sponsors, so it is possible that the lanyards also have sponsors, and could be given out any time during the operating hours.

the castle stay is awarded between 9-10am because of the schedule the winner will go through once they have won. the people have to go back to the hotel and gather their things for the night, then have lunch and some sort of picture/press thing and then they have to go be grandmarshals for the parade. and then they get to go around the park.
last summer, it tended to be that the dream squad would show up at the dumbo ride about 9:15 and award a family that had a little kid the prize. it was the same routine for about 2-3 months before they decided to switch it up.

We got our fast pass dreams at around 10:30 or so after riding Haunted Mansion at DW. I would think it's logical that they pass out fastpass dreams in the morning hours so people have all day to use them.

I also have won all my prizes early in the morning, except the 2008 Dream Magic Hour at Epcot, that was early afternoonish.
I think its easier to win prizes in the morning because there are less people in the parks. The less people you are competing with, the higher chances that you'll win the prize. It makes sense statistically, if there are 500 people in the park, and they are giving out 100 fastpasses, you are more likely to win than if there are 10,000 people in the park and 100 fastpasses.
I have also won the most at Epcot, and I think that is also due to statistics. In the morning there are less rides open at Epcot than at, say MK, so if they are going to give out dream fastpasses between 9 and 10 am, there are less venues to distribute them (i.e. WS is not open, nor is Ellen's energy adventure), so your chances of happening to be in the right place at the right time are increased.
If you are looking to win, here is my friendly insider tip, ride Soarin' over and over again between 9 and 10 am. I have won dream fastpasses on Soarin' 3 times between the hours of 9 and 10 am. I know, I'm lucky! :goodvibes

Does it help to have a certain "look?" Should I dress my baby (will be 22 mo) a certain way? Last Aug she was 7 mo and I dressed her in something Disney everyday. No one even commented. A guy in line at RNR gave me a sticker as did a monorail guy at the Poly. That was all the attention we got. And, my baby's pretty cute.
Next time, we'll have grandparents with us too. But I'll definitely consider the comments. Thanks!

This is incorrect. Ever since the very beginning of the sweepstakes, the winners have always been randomly selected and it does not matter if the potential winner is 'cute' or not. It could be a single dude in his 50's there by himself as long as he is in that right spot. It probably seemed like it was always given to cute kids at Dumbo because guess what - THAT is who rides Dumbo in the first place.
All of the locations and times of prize awarding are completely random and the Dream Squad does not make any choices when it comes to who wins and who doesn't. If you are in that right place at that right time - you win (as long as you are not a cast member or a family member of one).
Regarding the first part of the message, the castle does not necessarily go out specifically between 9-10 am though the winners do have a schedule prepared for them if they choose to follow it. There is a lengthy amount of paperwork involved in all of the top prizes.

It will not help when it comes to the official prizes as part of the Dreams Giveaway. However, it may spark encounters with cast members who just want to do something special for cute kids.
Also, it is a good idea not to seem like your looking for free stuff. Remember, a lot of the special things CMs do, they try to make it a surprise for the guest. So if your asking for something, then it is not much of a surprise. Just try talking to CMs, especially if they are not at a safety position or dont look busy.
Just the other day I saw a group of teenagers that were just having a great time, laughing, having fun with CMs, randomly dancing, taking pics with the CMs - and they were pulled into checking out the control tower at one of the attractions. Remember, if you are having fun WITH the cast member, they may want to do something special for you... because you are including them in your fun.

My wife and I just got back, and we got dreamed with a special viewing of "Wishes" from the top of the Astro-Orbiter in Tomorrow land!
I was picking the brain of the dreamsquad guy about the suite in the castle and it is actually really interesting.
He said that it is completely random who gets it. Infact, they do not choose a person, rather a computer spits out a time and a location. The example he gave was "10:58am, Pirates of the Carribean, person closest to the entrance".
That is how the pick the castle stay. Completely random and can be in any of the 4 parks.

Twice this March, once at MK and once at AK, each time as we were entering our third ride of the day, and we got to the 9 am Rope Drop at both places. In AK we were Dreamed exiting the Dionsaur pre-ride film and at MK just before passing in front of Buzz to board that ride. I'd guess it was about 9:15 am at MK and a half hour later at AK. We didn't use them for the rides we already did when we got them, Safari and EE at AK and Buzz at MK, so we gave them to a young couple as we left AK and a father and son at MK.

We were at WDW twice during the YOAMD promotion. (2/07 and 1/08). We never won. My sister is there right now. On Monday, around 9:45am, they were going into Sounds Dangerous at Hollywood Studios. A cast member told my nephew that the "woman over there wanted to speak with him". He won dream fast passes for the whole family. Between AM EMH, a regular fast pass and the dream fast passes -- my sis & her family rode Toy Story Mania 3 times before 2pm.

DH didn't know what was going on, but I sure did! We were almost to the CM who asks how many in your party. Just got back from WDW at 1:00 am this morning. My DD8 won a private visit and pictures with her favorite princess (Cinderella, of course) on 7/06/08 around noon. We were getting off Snow White's Scary Adventure. The next day, 7/07/08, I won the stay in the castle suite!!! It was around 1:30. I was getting off Journey into Imagination with Figment at EPCOT. The Dream Squad said that they had actually attempted to give it away earlier in the day, but the "potential winner" was from a country whose residents are ineligible (something about their country's tax laws). So..... they had to award to someone else. This was once in my life that I didn't mind coming in second!!! Unfortunately, by the time we completed all of the paperwork and were taken back to our resort to pack an overnight bag, it was too late in the day to be able to ride in the Main Street Parade. We didn't care, though!! All we could think about was "Hello suite, here we come!!!" :yay:

I don't recall the exact times....but I think we won lanyards coming out of pre-ride room in Dinosaur around 10am-ish. We won dream Mickey ears in the afternoon coming off Space Mtn. There were no kids with us either time.
Are these times opinions or do you have irrefutable scientific evidence to back up your claims.
I think based on the previous responses it is pretty much a fact. You can tell when touring the parks, plus how guests have been reporting the dreams.
I witnessed a family in the boat in front of us winning the castle stay at 11:15AM on Pirates back in April. I knew they won the castle stay because I saw them before the 3:00PM parade in the "Castle Suite Winners" car.

We were in queue at Soarin' right after park opening. The Dream Squad was by the pre-loading area and we got dream fast passes. Later that week we were in queue for Rock 'n Roller Coaster right after park opening and the Dream Squad was at the turnstiles before the preshow area. Dream fast passes again! Both times we were a party of 3 adults. No kids.

Saw a couple dream squad members making there way through the park at an early magic hour at MK. About 9:30am we won dream lanyards getting off the train at the main station.
Saw them at MGM late day about 4pm or saw at MGM they were speaking to a lady. Don't know if she was being awarded anything.
I look at it this way. They can strike at any time :) Don't count on winning and you could be pleasantly surprised. After all...we never thought we would win anything so it made it all the better when it happened!

We got dream fastpasses on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday) this past week. We entered the Walt attraction next to the new Toy Story ride at HS. The TS area was a zoo because it was just about 9:20...at rope drop there was a stampede to ride or get FP for TS. Well, we got FP's and then decided to go to the Walt exhibit. As we were entering, we took time to read the signs and posters. The DT was there (we were oblivious...not having been too up on the whole Dream thing). Well, the next family that came in just barged through without reading the signs and got awarded FP's. I glared at a DT guy like you've got to be kidding me! But he just smiled and told me that we won too. It seems quite a few families (maybe 4 or 5?) won behind us too. The later families got Mickey ears but we did not.
It was bittersweet for us. We are a family of 3: me, DH and DS who is only 3. He did the Toy Story ride but that really pushing it for him. He is VERY cautious. We were not able to do the other attractions and just decided it would be too much hassle to take turns etc. We ended up giving our passes away to another family of 3 with a boy who seemed to be about 10. It was perfect for them!
Oh - BTW, to answer OP's question, this was about 9:20 AM or so....

We are currently at WDW and I saw the dream squad at MK today go in the back gate at the Toontown tent about 10:30. They must have given dream ears out in one of the rooms at the character meet/greet rooms. We rode Goofy's Barnstormer and when we got off, people were coming out wearing the ears. When I was getting a Dole Whip around 2PM, I saw the dream squad on their way to give out what looked like lanyards (it was a small duffle bag--not their usual sling bag and not like what they had for dream ears) somewhere towards adventureland/frontierland.
We didn't win any official dreams yesterday or today, but our boys did get a few great magical moments including a private VIP safari ride at AK yesterday and our ds7 got to be an honorary prince after pulling the sword out of the stone today.

Kind of OT Question -
People say the winners of the Castle and other computer randomized prizes
are all random but...
Don't there have to be parameters? I mean, do they log in every inch of the
Disney World and then let the computer pick an exact location out of the
thousands, plus a time and a even more specific location? Seems to me they
would only put in a few (think a couple hundred) spots in The World to be
used and then randomly select it through that.
Things like Soar'n, Dumbo, Test Track, DTD, Rope Drop, and other main
attractions seem prominent, which leads me to believe that things like the
candy lady at Japan or Ellen's are not neccessarily "options" the computer
has.
Though I may be wrong!

We just got back and we won 2 Dream fastpasses this week. One was at MK as we got off Winnie the Pooh one morning. The other was as we walked down the Pangani trail in AK one morning. We turned a corner and they were just standing there handing them out. It was great, couldn't believe we won twice in a week!

Thanks!
The prizes are awarded based on a pre-determined time and place. It doesn't matter who happens to be there! Of course the CM has opinions and may choose whomever they want at that time and spot.
As far as getting extra attention for your daughter... I always dress my girls in custom made Disney clothes- try ebay or Etsy for some great sets. We get comments and special extras from CMs all the time. Characters spend more time with them (even when those in line behind don't like it) and they get free food/ stuffed toys where ever we go.
My BF just went to WDW last month and borrowed some sets for her DD3. She was so thankful when she got back! She said it made her daughter stand out in the crowd and CMs and characters all made a big fuss over her.
Have a great trip!

We got dream FP's at "the great movie ride" at Hollywood Studios around 10 am on Aug. 22. They handed out a bunch.... at least 30 or 40 I would guess. They were there a good 5 minutes handing them out as you entered the movie preview room before going on the ride.

We won Dream Fastpasses in Oct 06 and Oct 07 - - once at EPCOT 15 min. after the park opened and then at MK 1/2 hour after the park opened.
This October we plan to be at all of the parks once they open. We always try and be on a ride the first few hours of the parks opening, no stopping for bathroom breaks, snacks, etc.

My kids got to be honorary lost boys getting off Peter PAn at 9:40am and then we won dream fast passes at Nemo getting on the ride just before 10:00 another day. I did meet someone who won FP's on Everest about 1:30. I was surprised because very other thing I heard was in the am. Someone won the castle just before 10:00 on BTMRR.

We have been for a total of 17 days and have never won a dream - my husband and daughter missed fastpasses last Fri. 19th at MK getting of Small World at about 10:00 am. Everyone else in their boat and the boat in front won them but they didn't. She is only two and it takes her awhile to walk up the ramp. They were around the bend and my husband asked "what about us, we were on the same boat" but they just shrugged and walked off.:confused3 We did however receive a few magical moments - honorary vikings on Norway ride we got our own boat and the same at Mexico's Donald Duck Boat (as my 2 year old calls it) Both were just me and my 2 year old daughter. Both of my girls were picked as Honorary Princesses before our lunch at CRT - that was really special - we got to go into the picture room with Cinderella all by ourselves and were introduced as guests of Cinderella for the day. It was neat. Other than my husband just missing the dream team the other day I personally have never seen the dream team give out dreams!!! It's so strange how some people win mulitple times and then theres me who has never even seen them!!!!

I spent a week in WDW, and ran into the Dream Squad twice! Both were early in the morning, one in Animal Kingdom on the Pangani Forest Trail about 9:30 after a ride on Kilamanjaro Safari, which was a Dream Fast Pass and the other was about 9:15 in Magic Kingdom after the first riding of the Haunted Mansion, in the hall of the exit, which was a set of Dream Mickey Ears. What a treat! I was thrilled to get two dreams in one week.
