With 81 days to go before departure, I thought it might be nice to get the June 22 Magic (Western) cruisers to sign in, say hello, mention what excursions they are considering, etc. Please leave any helpful tips, information on a DIS meeting on board, etc. Anything you want! Lets hear from you and possibly a few new cruisers we haven't heard from yet. Lets count down to the Magic together.

81 days, I am so excited. Even the kids are getting there. We want to do some of the snorkeling tours. Do you know if they have any dives for people that aren't certified? I have mine but my 13 year old doesn't and he would love to do a dive. In Key West we will prob do a sail & snorkel. I would like to do Stingray city also in Cozmel. Grand Caymen I am not sure. My husband isn't a big beach goer so we might do some sight seeing. I want to get the boys (13 & 16) to do the teen cruise @ Cozmel and the teen trip in Castaway Cay.
I love these boards I wish we were going sooner. See every one soon!!!!

81 days, Wow :earseek: Can't wait!!!:pinkbounc We have the 3 families going altogether. Teens, 17, 15, 14, 14, 13, 11 we adults the six of us. Two of the families have never cruised before, we are going on our 3rd cruise. Plenty of sightseeing in Key West on our own, probably on the Trolley. Grand Cayman, beaching it and shopping, probably going to check out "hell" and Cozumel, the kids definitely the teen cruise and we may do the catamaran/snorkel/beach tour. We definitely need to do a DIS Meet at the sailaway party. Possibly on the 10th deck overlooking the dance floor, just a suggestion. Looking forward to seeing Cam & Howard and Caroline & Mike as we all met last year on the Disney Cruise and are meeting again on this cruise. June 22nd come on get here quick. Stay in touch all you June 22nders!!!!!

Hi all, thanks for your posts!
We are considering a few things for Key West. We did the Conch Train tour when we were there in Feb 2000 and enjoyed it. I am not sure if we will do that again. We are planning on being in Mallory Square at sunset and having lunch at Margaritaville (conch fritters there are great!!). I wouldn't mind sipping a drink or two at Sloppy Joe's either. We are planning to go to Stingray City in Grand Cayman and beach ourselves on 7 mile beach, probably paying to use a hotel beach and its facilities for the afternoon. In Cozumel, we are going to Chakannab National Park for snorkeling, we did this in Feb. 2000 and loved it. We did it as an excursion then, but will do it ourselves this time and save $. It is a short cab ride and then a small rental fee for the equipment and instruction. Then some shopping and dinner - we dined at Pancho's Back Yard last time we were there, it was great. I would recommend it. At CC we will be indulging ourselves with cabana massages (I hope) and the adult beach.
We are looking to expand on our friendships with everyone from the May '01 cruise (Mike &Caroline, Roberta & Ralph) and make some new ones too. June 22 can't come fast enough for us.

Hi everyone! Only 81 days!!! Hard to believe. We are still deciding on excursions..we will probably do Key West on our own. DH is an English teacher and definately wants to visit the Hemingway house. On Grand Cayman the kids want to do Stingray City and we are still undecided about Cozumel. I'm a big history buff and would love to see the ruins but it sounds like the good ones are too far away to do in one day!
I'd love to chat with some other 6/22 cruisers...please feel free to e-mail! DIS meet at the sailaway party sounds great!

Hi,
How old are your kids? Mine are 13 & 16. Both boys. This is their
first cruise and our second. I just can't wait. I have to plan everything down to the last detail. I don't know whether to do excersions or try on our own. My email is jlabbe@abbot-resorts.com. What's yours?
See ya soon. Only 79 days now.

Can hardly wait for cruise. The sites Roberta has researched have
really been helpful. Will probably do train in Key West not sure about Cozumel or Grand Cayman yet. How do you use hotel beaches? Stingray City sounds like an option for us. DIS meet would be great. Quite a few of us at the Radisson on Friday night so maybe meet poolside to start off the cruise.

Definitely pool side at the Radisson for us, We need to see who all is staying at the Radisson besides us, Cam & Howard and Mike and Caroline and now TennDVC. Anyone else? We can start with a DIS meet at the Radisson and meet everyone else on the ship. These boards I remember from last time suggest that you wear a green ribbon so we can all find each other easier. Anyway, hope we can all find each other and we will definitely have a great time!!!

For all of you that stay at the Radisson.
Do you leave your cars there? How hard is it to get the bus to and from the hotel? We still haven't decided where to stay the night before, and you guys are making the Radisson sound like the place to be.
Thanks,
KeenHo
04-05-2002, 12:55 PM
Joanne,
We are renting a car and dropping it off next door. Someone else will have to let you know if it is ok (safe) to leave your car there for the week. I remember seeing a thread that mentioned it was fine to do so. Dave from Marietta commented on it I believe (he knows everything). You should ask at the hotel for information on that or look for advise from a pro.
The Port Radisson has shuttles going to (and from) the port on a regular basis, it should be a breeze to get there. It would be great to have you join the gang at the Port Radisson!
Note: I have heard conflicting discussions on how "nice" the hotel is. We had a great time and we loved it last May. However, there must be an older section where the rooms are not as "up to date" as some other areas. The suites (featuring jacuzzis) are new and beautiful! You might want to ask what section you'd be in if you plan on staying there with everyone else.
Have a great weekend!

My DW (Cam) and I have been to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I think Cozumel, by far, has better shopping and more choices. You should plan on shopping there. There is also some shops near where the ship will tender into shore in Grand Cayman, but not as many selections as in Cozumel.
Glad to see more of us on this post!

The bedroom has queen or king bed, entertainment unit, corner jacuzzi (step up and in type), bathroom and separate glass enclosed tile shower. All were in great condition last year.

KimdisFan, the St. Augustine Outlets are the best. We went down there in February from the suggestion of Caroline & Mike after we stayed in GA with them. The outlets were so good after we shopped on the way to Disney, we couldn't just drive by on the way back, had to stop again. Great Character Outlet and Fossil Watch, Nike, Reebok, lots of other great stores. Happy shopping, get lots of Disney clothes for the cruise. Anyway, we are at 70 days to go I think or around there. We are meeting with the other 2 families going with on 4/20 for our Caribbean Party Night, this will be our 3rd party celebrating before the cruise and we are going to decide that night on the excursions so we can call that week to make the excursions reservations. Keep this thread going.......Adios Mis Amigos!! Getting in the Mexican lingo (thanks to my daughter's Spanish) More to come......

I just wanted to add my mother and myself to the June 22 cruise list. I have been lurking on this board for over a year now, but have never posted. I just paid the balance a week ago. My mother and I are big Disney fans, but have never taken a Disney cruise. We did go on a Holland America Alaskan cruise in the summer of 1999. We have stayed on-site numerous times at Disney World and at Disneyland since 1978. We haven't decided on any excursions yet. My mother has trouble walking so we will probably just stick to the less strenuous ones. We are staying in a handicapped cabin on deck 7. Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to share with everyone if you haven't booked your rental car. Discount code with AVIS (USA) really is a good deal.
We rented a Chevy Venture van for about $52 each way to Radisson. This saved us over $30 from previous discount code I used.
Looking over the excursions still haven't finalized which ones will be best for us. Looking forward to the margaritas at Jimmy Buffet's in Key West. Also read a post on Carlos & Charlies that said this was a good place in Cozumel.
Roberta, Party sounded great, I have been looking at cardboard cutouts for door to jazz it up a bit. So far I'm leaning towards the pink flamingo and green palm tree. Magnet idea is so easy and won't take any room in suitcase.
Sounds like there will be (3) seventeen year old boys just from the posts here.

Hi, everyone!!
It is so much fun to be getting to know all of you. It's a shame we couldn't all crash Roberta and Ralph's party--it sounds as if it was so much fun!
Found out we can book excursions on 4/23. Also found out there are 2 formal nights on the western itinerary--they fall on Monday and Thursday. This is interesting since with a 3 restaurant rotation, we eat in the same restaurant Monday and Thursday.
2 months to go!!!

Hi everyone, tomorrow is the day to call for excursions. Hopefully we can all get the excursions that we want. Looks like Cam found out that the formal nights are Monday and Thursday which are days at sea, thank God. Anyway our party went well and it was a little crazy too. Can't wait for the cruise to party there!!! Keep in touch and take care!!!

Hi all you Junne 22 sailors! I originally posted on the cruise critic board, and now (finally) on this one. Were flying into Orlando from San Diego on Thursday night (June 20th), staying at the Radisson. We'll be sight seeing at Kennedy Space Center on Friday, then back to the hotel Friday afternoon and evening.
Here's a few questions?
Any tips on the KSC?
Where's a good place to eat around the Radisson?
We sailed on the May 25th Magic, Eastern last year. Know a few of you were on that same cruise. We made the decission to return pretty much the same day they announced the Western itinerary. The Eastern cruise was the best family vacation we've ever had! We've invited some friends to go with us, so we'll be sharing the magic this time ;) ;)
Please let us know when you are all meeting on Friday at the Radisson, and/or at the sail-away party.
There are 4 adults (43 & 42) and 4 kids in our party (2 Boys/11, 1 girl 13 and 1 girl 8). We are in catagory 5, deck 7; aft, with connecting rooms. Some of the things we did last year that were fun are: "cabana massages" at Castaway Cay (glad we did it, but probably won't again: took up too much of our time), we enjoyed the "Surial Bath" in the Spa on our anniversary; an obviously fun time for couples only, "wine tasting" on board: fun, "napkin folding class" (did this with our then 10 year-old son, really a kick. . . he spent the remainder of the trip having folding contests with our servers)! "Tea with wendy"; fun for our then 6 year-old, but would be boring for any child older. We live at the beach and have a pool in our backyard, so the pools on board weren't really a huge draw, our kids did like the slide though. This time we don't want to miss the walking tour of the ship. We had a blast at all the deck parties, and our kids loved the Oceaneer's Lab. Prior to the cruise, we purchased the minolta "walkie-talkies", this was a very good idea!
O.K. well, it's getting closer!!
Have a great day,
Tami

Hi Tami,
I posted the Cruise Critic thread that you answered. This is THE place for June 22 cruisers. Welcome, I am looking forward to meeting you, your friends and family at the Radisson or at the DIS sail-away party.
Following our May cruise last year we went to KSC on Sunday before returning home to Wilmington, Delaware. The most important tip I can give is to take the bus tour as soon as you arrive, or very soon after. We couldn't take it because we ran out of time. :o( It takes several hours and is by far the most imformative activity to do at KSC. We missed out and won't let that happen again.
We did the Astronaut Encounter and my DS (7) was chosen to do the activity up on stage and meet Capt. John McBride. He received an autographed photo and some other items as souvenirs. This was my son's favorite part of the day. We also toured the grounds, went aboard a space shuttle, saw the astronaut memorial, and took in a movie or two at the IMAX theater.
As far as places to eat near the Radisson, there are a few. There is a pretty good Italian place just next door called "Kelsey's." You can find a pretty complete list of restaurants near the port (and Radisson) on Dave's website listed below. "Dave from Marietta" was on our cruise last May 26-June 2.
Looking forward to counting the days with you and everyone else!!!
All the best!

All done. Booked excursions today. I am so looking forward to this. Some of the banana boat times are sold out already. We are doing some snorkeling, Dh & DS(13) are doing the jeep safari,
kids are doing the teen cruise and the wild side.
Can't wait 60 days to go. I am working on my tan now so the hot sun won't fry my skin.

We are booked with DCL this morning for the Four Hour Tropical Jeep Safari Tour in Cozumel. The tickets will be in our cabins when we board. According to the woman my DW (Cam) spoke with, changes can be made up to 2 days before sailing without penalty, but the written confirmation says cancellations must be done by 7 days before sailing.
We also booked the Stingray City and Snorkeling through Captain Marvin's for Grand Cayman. We have reserved 4 spots on our the 11:15 trip on June 25th. We will have to meet the Capt. Marvin's crew at their NEW office in the Waterfront Centre, 2 blocks to the LEFT of the cruise ship landing. We'll need to be there by 10:45 that morning, with towels and sunscreen.
This is really getting exciting!! Mike & Caroline are taking the same excursions as the ones I have listed here!!
Counting them together....

We're on the 22nd cruise! Me(41), , DW, DD (8) and DS (10). Thanks for the assists of two folks, we've found our way to Disboards and likely to the Raddison, too.
Looking forward to this adventure...our first cruise, but it sounds like you all with experience will help us along! One question we've got now (among hundreds we won't ask) is: How formal is the formal night? We understand that the semi-formal night is ladies dresses, but does my DW need something really formal for the formal night?
Thanks for your help! We look forward to meeting you all!!

Welcome to the DIS Boards and the activity center for what we affectionately call the June 22 cruisers!! I will leave it up to the ladies to answer your question about how formal a dress your DW should wear on the two formal nights of the cruise (Monday and Thursday). I will be wearing a tux for each of the formal nights, but men also wear suits too.
Please feel free to ask any of the 100's of questions you or your family may have. This forum is the place to ask it and there are many experienced cruisers here more than willing to help you. Or you can e-mail me directly (keenho@aol.com) with questions.
I hope you all stay at the Radisson and can meet up with the gang who will be staying there on June 21 (as we are). If not, we'll be sure to see you at the DIS sail-away party on the Magic. As of today we have 57 days to go!!!
Have a great day and week!!

Hi Tom, & all who care about packing/what to wear
We sailed last year on the Western cruise and I belabored over it as well prior to our cruise. In retrospect, I WAY OVER PACKED!! I packed 2 outfits per-day for our children, and the same for myself. Took one suitcase with only shoes. In reality, my son wore the same thing over and over till it was dirty, and our daughter (then 6) went through all her clothes. I over packed for myself, packing things for "just in case". I also took along a "stain stick" so I could spot stains ahead of time for when we got home. At one point I had a crazy idea that I would put in a quick load of laundry. I filled a pillow case with a light-load and headed to the laundry-room. There were 7 women ahead of me! Three hadn't even gotten to a washing machine yet! I asked the last one in line, who was reading a book, "How long have you been waiting?" She replied 30 minutes. I took a glance at my watch and quickly came to my sences, fleeing quickly back to the state-room with same dirty clothes! ;)
As far as formal night. I did wear a long gown one night and my husband wore a nice dark sportcoat and Tommy Bahama black silk pants. The other night I wore dressy black pants and a flouncy silk blouse. Our kids wore: (DS/then 10) dockers kahki's with shirt, tie & sportcoat & (DD/then 6): last years Christmas dress. There were many people dressed less formal than us and a few dressed to the nine! It's way fun to get dolled up and they take your picture everytime you turn around! The night my DH and I went to Palo, I even went to the spa and had my hair done in an "up-do". Really fun and a special night.
One great idea I read on another post. . . buy an inexpensive over the door plastic shoe organizer or any organizer to hold shoes or other essentials, ie: walkie-talkies/ cameras/ etc. . . folds very flat and if it's way cheap, you can leave it there!
Getting excited!

I guess I'm the only one that didn't get an excursion we wanted. My son wanted to do the fishing excursion with my dad on castaway cay. I wanted 9:15 because I thought 1 would be way too hot for them to sit in the ssun all those hours. Well, yesterday I was lucky enough to have jury duty so I couldn't call. I called first thing this morning and all the early slots were gone. hopefully everything else will go better for us. Had hoped someone would cancel at 60 days out--we wanted cat 3 but no luck with that either. We'll still have a great time. Have you set up a time to meet at the Radisson or onboard yet? Beth

Hey fellow June 22 cruisers, picked up a great back pack today top part has a drawstring and bottom is a square zipper section that is a small 12 pk cooler. It will be a great carryon for the plane and then for the islands for beach stuff and water bottles and sodas on a little ice, it looks just like a regular back pack, picked it up in Eckerd for $20.00. Also picked up the 16 pill bonine today. All set to sail now!!! How is everyone doing?

Do you think we will see the new anomated movie Lilo and Stitch--I believe it is coming out then. Last year we saw Princess Diaries. I hope all the May 11 cruisers post long trip reports so we can get all the news.

Currently we have only one excursion booked--the Key West Conch tour train--, we went on it back in the mid-eightes and it was a-lot-of-fun!! Our kids (DS-17 & DS-13), are not too interested in planned excursions and would rather "play-it-by-ear". We are also trying to get organized for the cruise, but we don't seem to be as prepared as a lot of you!!!By the way, we did call and "reserve" four bikes on castaway cay and they mentioned that those were selling out quickly!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:Hello to all June 22nd cruisers! My mom and I are eagerly awaiting our cruise documents. Has anyone received theirs yet? I booked the cruise through AAA in January. It was listed in the AAA Grand Vacations brochure. My TA told me that she doesn't expect the documents to arrive until two to three weeks before the cruise. I have read that some June 8th cruisers have received their documents.
I haven't booked any excursions yet. I think that we will probably take the Conch Train Tour in Key West on our own. My TA told me that it was very easy to find it and that I could get a AAA and senior discount if I did it on my own. On Grand Cayman, we are probably going to do the Grand Cayman Island Tour and maybe the Seaworld Explorer Semi-Submarine if my mom is able to climb down into it. When we were in Hawaii, the semi-submarine rides required climbing down a ladder which was very difficult for her to do. In Cozumel, we plan on doing the Chankanaab Sea Lion Discovery excursion. Of course, we will also do what we love to do no matter where we are - shop, shop, shop!
We are looking forward to meeting new friends! Any other Ohioans on the June 22nd cruise? We will be in cabin 7136.

Hello to all June 22nd cruisers! We will be joining you too! We will arrive at the Beach Club on the 15th and then to the Magic on the 22nd. Our group is myself (34) ,DW (34), DS (6), and MIL and FIL( 53 and 54). It will be our first Disney Cruise. We will be celebrating our tenth anniversary. We went on the Big Red Boat and stayed at the Grand Floridian for the honeymoon and always thought we would be back before now but have gone to other places and visit Disneyland at least twice a year (sometimes more!) Our son is just as excited as us. Not his first cruise but first with Mickey! We are counting the days down at work and home!
Will anyone be scuba diving in Cozumel? I signed up and am looking forward to going! Scuba in the Pacific here(Monterey Bay) is cold so bring on the warm waters!!

We will all meet at the Radisson Pool at some point on 6/21 and the rest of us can all meet up on Deck 10 overlooking the Goofy Pool where the sailaway party is. As the ship is going out to sea, looking forward the right side is the stareboard side and the left is the port. Hey, everyone! Great to see you all here. Should be getting ready for work, but I, like Roberta, am addicted. I like the post about the 10 step program, but I guess it only matters if you want to be cured!
TennDVC--We bought two bottles of vanilla in cozumel at that great souvenir shop we've been telling everyone about. It was also a great place to buy kaluha. The vanilla is amazing. You can really taste the difference. YUMMY!!!
Roberta--I can't wait for the documents to arrive. I am thinking the next week or ten days based on who has been getting theirs. Howard and I will have to have a drink to celebrate, though we'll miss all of you.
For everyone that wants ribbon, I will mail it tomorrow! If anyone else wants green ribbon (don't worry too much if it isn't "lime" enough--DISers are really the only ones wearing green at all), just email me and I will send it all out as soon as possible.

BTW, Howard's birthday is on Key West day, 6/23. I cannot imagine a better way to spend the day, unless it were grand cayman, cozumel, castaway cay, st. thomas, st. marten, the MAGIC, . . . . well, you get my drift!

Hello to all!!
I am looking forward to the barage of drinks, good times and friendly DIS'ers we'll be enjoying starting on June 21 at the Radisson. The Tequila Sunrise sounds great, Cam- make a note and add it to the list!
Tom - sorry it is sold out. Maybe you can stay close by and join us for a tropical drink (something with an umbrella in it) by the pool. If not, we'll definitely have to get together at the sail-away party.
Looking forward to reading the trip reports from the inagural western cruisers as everyone else is. I have been reading recent (eastern) posts and it takes me back to our trip last May and our wonderful Magic-al experience.
Yes, I'll be having a birthday on June 23 (Key West) I won't mention the number associated with that birthday (Hint: It is one more than last year). I am looking forward to a wonderful day in Key West with Cam. I am not the only one that should be celebrating a birthday. Beth Corl will be celebrating a June birthday too, her birthday is on June 17 (the day she leaves for the cruise). She and I (hopefully) will be toasting our birthdays on board the Magic.
Everyone take care, I'll be around often checking this post. Have a great weekend!!

Don't forget Ross' birthday, our DS will be 17 the day we set sail on 6/22, he will toast in with a N/A drink probably one of those non-alcoholic smoothies they offer when you get to the ship for lunch the first day and we will definitely celebrate at dinner that evening with our servers!!! Wow, can't believe it is getting so close.

Hi everyone! sorry to be so inconsistent with my 'posts but I'm not able to read these threads everyday. But I do read when I can, (mainly on the weekends), so keep up the chatter, so I can read what everyone is doing!! The "gettogether" on deck 10 sounds great to me, and inbibing in a few adult beverages sounds good as well. I noticed there were a couple of teen's interested in corresponding (with others there own age), so I will try to get my two sons (17 & 13) to drop them a line, but you know how that goes. I guess nobody else is staying at WDW prior to the cruise--at least not at Coronado Springs Resort--, so if anyone is, please post a reply to this thread. Otherwise we will try to meet some of you at the "green ribbon gathering" on deck 10!!! SEE YAA SOON!!!!!!!

My family is sailing on the June 8th Western. I've picked up a couple of good tips reading your June 22nd thread. I hope you all have a great time.
I did want to point out that there is a slight descrepancy on dates in two posting. There are two different dates given for formal/semi-formal nights. On page one of the thread the DCL memo says it's Tues. ,Night 4, after Cayman and Thursday, Night 5, Sea Day. On page 5 of the thread someone has written that it's Mon. ,Night 3,(Sea Day) and Thurs,.Night 5, Sea Day.
Does anyone know for sure which is correct?
Thanks, VS

Hi, VS--
I am responsible for the monday-thursday post. That is what the CM at the excursion reservation number told me. While it seemed logical to have the formal nights on at-sea days, it seemed odd because on a 3 restaurant rotation, you would have both formal nights in the same restaurant. I am really looking forward to what the inaugural western cruisers report to us on their return.
BTW, save some sunshine for us!

Hey fellow June 22nd cruisers! Watching the Dick Clark 50 year Anniversary, maybe some of you are not old enough to remember American Band Stand, but we will definitely get into the 50's 60's and 70's night on the cruise. I am challenging any of you June 22nd Disers out there to the Hula Hoop Contest on 50's night!!! I am undefeated on the last 2 cruises and took home 1st place for that contest both times. So practice up and I am ready for the challenge!!! Hey who knows, maybe someone will be me this time around!!!

BTW, who is parasailing? There are some awesome pix at www.*****************. You have to check them out. Personally, 600 ft in the air is a little scary! Wish I were that brave--my kids would never ever believe it!:( Then again, I am not sure that anyone really thought I'd get in the water with stingrays :D Just don't tell anyone they are like little puppies in the water ;)

Cam, Since you've done the stingrays tell me can you stand in water and not have it over your head. I am not a great swimmer and feel better when my feet are firm and head out of the water.
The parasailing would definitely scare me to death. I have water skied but flying up in the air attached to a tether is just not for me either. I'm thinking, beach , sand, and cool beverage is more my style.

Thanks for all the help on remembering the port and starboard side. We haven't booked any excursions yet. My dad wants to do the Tulam Ruins. Has anyone ever visited them and have some tips? He thinks that we should do it on our own and rent a car but i want to do it through disney(the more disney on this trip the better!) We unfortunaltly will not be staying at the Radisson either. We booked flights through disney and are not getting in until that morning! I'm glad to be meeting some people that have children going with them. Is anyone traveling with someone that is 10 or 11? Hey, TennDVC!!
The pix of me at stingray city are me standing in the water holding a stingray in my arms! You are on a sandbar, so while the water is a little deeper in some places, you can definitely find places to stand. To tell you the truth, even if I couldn't go in the water with the stingrays for some reason, I would still do this excursion again to see them from the boat--they are so beautiful and graceful. We booked our outing through Captain Marvin's Watersports--cheaper than DCL, and we didn't want to do HE@@ or the turtle farm. We are going to stingray city then to see a coral reef (have only seen black coral on our last 2 trips, really looking forward to this opportunity). The excursion is only 2 hours so we will still have time for 7 mile beach, another part of the island we didn't see last time. Just have to save time to buy Tortuga rum cakes-- worth nearly the price of a cabin--pack an extra suitcase!
Hope everyone had fun shopping this weekend. We are pretty well set--
Tip for the day: REMEMBER to pack conditioner--the sun and salt water are very very hard on your hair (this goes for you guys, too)

In case anyone needs the website for captain marvin's, here it is:

Tip for the day: write your last name and cabin number on your rolls of film, with permanent marker. Some people even suggest home phone #--depends on how small you can write, I guess. number the rolls and use them in sequential order--this makes organizing them later so much easier! We always carried a new roll with us and kept extras in the over the door shoe holder for easy grabs.

Hi, Nicole--
I have enjoyed your posts. I am glad you are all having so much fun planning and anticipating. I just wanted to tell you that my DD13 loved the Magic 5/26 7 day eastern. She isn't going this trip, which is unfortunate because there seem to be many fabulous young people going. She really enjoyed meeting Rianna last year and there was a group of about 8 12 and 13 yr olds that all hung out together. They loved common grounds, quartermasters, the pool, going to late night movies, and watching tv in our cabin, drinking sodas and munching on the snacks we brought. You will meet lots of new friends and you will have a great time too! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Yvonne, Caroline & Mike aren't on the boards much, but they are DVC members, they joined last year when we met them on the last cruise. They are from Georgia and will be staying at the Radisson with us. We have a small pair of binoculars and are already in a duffle bag. Ziplock bags to take room service cookies etc...with you on the islands. A small soft-sided cooler to fill with ice and beer/soda in the room. Highlighters to mark what you want to do on the Navigators. We bring a plug strip to be able to plug more than one charger for the video camera batteries. A small digital clock that lights up so you can see what time it is in the room, no clocks anywhere. Hangers, never enough in the room. Lanyards to put your room key in and hang around your neck, very convenient. Can buy them on the ship too. Sunglasses!!!Over the door Shoehanger with all those pockets to put all the things that there just isn't enough room for in the bathroom/room. Batteries/Walkie Talkies. Shout Wipes for those spills. I could go on and on. Just keep putting things in a bag that you know you will be using to pack things in and make those lists, never enough lists to make sure of everything. Do I sound like a nut? I am so anal about packing.

Roberta thanks for al l the packing tips. Also for the DVC member info. Do we know what day they will be doing cocktails for DVC members? We met some really great people on last cruise during that time.
Cam, we have been DVC members since 1995 and have not regretted one minute of it. We usually spend our points at WDW or Hilton Head. We have used points for cruise but it is not the best use of your points. We figuire we have the points so why not use them for the cruise too. You might want to attend DVC talk on board ship. It is the most low key sales pitch I have ever attended. When we bought in '95 we came home and called them about a month later to purchase. Since then we have also bought a resale from independent broker.

Hello Everyone!
New to DIS
But looking forward to participating.
We are huge Mickey fans. WDW 10x in 10 Years
With 2 New Years celebration visits(2002,2000)
This is our first cruise. What do we do? When do we do it? With so many choices of excursions... what's the ones we should do and what are the ones to avoid?

John, glad to see you made it to posting on the boards. Thanks for the email and we are all gung ho for this trip. Email me as I said with any questions. We are doing things on our own in Key West and Grand Cayman, but are doing a Catamaran Sail on the Cozumel excursion and our teens are doing the teen catamaran there too. Parasailing and Banana Boat on Castaway Cay are fun. We have already made the reservations for the excursions that we are doing. Well, don't be a stranger to the boards. We have a thread going for the the teenagers too. I think it is Teens on the June 22 cruise or something like that. Well, welcome and it is going to be a great time.

Hi, John & Julie!
Welcome to our thread! My DH (Howard-- "KeenHo") and I will be on the 6/22 trip without our kids. We all did the eastern itinerary last year and this year is a mom & dad trip. Heck, they get to go to sleepaway camp, right? Howard and I have been to Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel on a Celebrity cruise and loved all those ports. Castaway Cay is absolutely wonderful! We are doing the DCL 4 hour jeep excursion on Cozumel and have booked a trip to stingray city on our own. On Key West, we will just wander the island and have conch fritters and drinks at margaritaville. we are still deciding on someplace fun for dinner to celebrate Howard's birthday and will be seeing the sunset celebration for the first time (celebrity left port before sunset :( )
Looking forward to beach time in Cozumel too and there is a great restaurant called Pancho's Backyard. Grand Cayman will include a shopping spree for tortuga rum cakes :D
Have fun planning!

Been away fro the threads for a time, but have enyoyed catching up.
Thanks Cam for sending the ribbons, we'll be wearing them Friday around the hotel (Radisson) and at the sail away party. Lets confirm everything when we get closer to sailing.
Here, in So. Cal. our documents arrived today. Haven't even opened the box yet, but will soon.
I noticed a question in an earlier post about Tulim Ruins in Cozumel. Been there, it really is quite beautiful. If I remember correctly, they have self guided audio tours.
We're trying to get through the end of this school year then we'll really be excited!

Great to hear the documents are arriving to the June 22 DISers, we haven't received ours yet but the day (and week) is young. We booked through DU; Cam spoke with them and they told her that they are sent directly to us from Disney.
As most of you read this we'll be approaching 37 DAYS!!!! until we set sail on the majestic Magic. Hard to believe..... so exciting to imagine. So many details, plans and other things to remember between now and departure.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the Radisson (by the pool) and on deck at the sail-away party. Cam and I are more than ready to party!!!!
Have a wonderful day and keep us updated.... Thanks!!

Hello to all June 22 cruisers. We too are like everyone else and can hardly wait to be on the ship. Our documents are in at the travel agents but waiting for our land tickets to be in before we pick it all up at once.
Our travel agent said it does not say which cabin we will be in just a guaranty or something like that ...does anyone know what this means?
Counting down the minutes-thanks for all the updates!

Hey, Clark--
My understanding of "guaranty" is that it means that you are not assigned to a cabin yet. That is the lowest category you will get, but you may end up in a higher category. A friend of mine who is a cruise veteran has told me this can work out really great, but I was not aware that DCL does this. Good luck!
BTW, I noticed that your DS is 6. Some of the other DISers on this thread also have DS's who are about that age, including LauraJean1014, BethA, and hokiecruiser5. I know our kids loved emailing with others before the cruise last year, so that they could look forward to meeting someone they "knew" rather than being on a ship full of strangers.

For all you cruise veterans. In the documents to fill out-there is a page in each booklet for charging on each room card. Do I have to fill out each one or will one for the four of us work? If so do I have to put the credit card info on each ticket also?
Is there an outlet in the bathroom fro electic toothbrush and razor?
Thanks again.
keenercam
05-15-2002, 04:53 PM
Joanne--I remember they told us to fill out only one of the charge forms last year, though I don't know if that is still the case.
Don't remember there being an outlet in the bathroom. I remember blow drying my hair at the desk, though it might have been because someone else was shaving or something :)
BTW, go ahead and rub it in that you actually have those documents to fill out ;) As of yesterday, DCL said ours had not yet been sent :( so I gave them my work address so there wouldn't be any chance of Fed Ex trying to deliver when no one is home. Just can't wait :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Joanne, fill out only 1 form for all of you and put everyone's name that is authorized to charge. Do not put your credit card # on the form until the day you check in. Just in case something happens to those documents your card # is not on there. We put it on when we got up at the Radisson and was heading to the port.
Big Guy-- We booked our first cruise at a guarantee category 8 and we were upgraded to a category 5 a verandah room and we booked the guarantee for a port hole room. We were very spoiled that first trip and have booked nothing but a verandah room last year and this year. It is so nice to leave the sliding door cracked open a little and hear the waves all night hitting the side of the ship. Now that is relaxation!!! There are outlets in the bathrooms, also one bathroom has a hairdryer right on the wall you just pick up the hose and it starts up. We bring a 5 plug plug strip for the desk area, plug it in 1 plug and have the strip to use for battery recharging for the video camera, the small digital light up clock that we bring so we know what time it is. Keep in touch...

I know, I know, you can't believe we have not told the kids yet. Me either. But we had our reasons. They'll know real soon.
Howard, I saw your post about sunrise/sunsets in Key West. I got my info from weather.com. On June 23rd sunrise is at 6:39 and that beautiful sunset will be at 8:19.
I look forward to chatting with everyone and meeting you all at the Radisson.

Hey guys, went home at lunch time and looked through the docs, Ralph picked them at AAA. We have everything in tact. There is a special page for Bahamian Immigration for Castaway Cay and separate ones for the rest of the cruise. The usual charging priviledge form, you only need to fill out one in the book that the room is registered under in our case Ralph's with everyone's name listed as to whom has charging priviledges. There is also a AAA page for the castaway cay 10% disc. and the 15% off anything in the Treasure Ketch $75.00 or more purchase. On that AAA page, it says to bring it to Promenade Lounge or Beach Blanket Buffet to redeem our 4 soda mugs that AAA is giving out free in 2002. So it looks like things are in order and now we need to wait 5 more weeks. Keep in touch....

Hi
We'll be in the June 22nd cruise, me , DDs 10 & 7, my sister, BIL and neice 6. I'm so excited I can't stand it!!! We're signed up for the the Dophin Encounter in Cozumel and I've been using it as a diciplinary device since we got our confirmation (If you misbehave I'm cancelling the dolphin encounter) and it's working!
I have 2 questions, first, my DD was asking if there was a basketball court on board. She remembered the one on our Princess Cruise.
Also, I'd like to give the girls a budget for spending priviledges. Can I limit spending on their KTTW cards?
Thanks!

Hi Callisa!!!
Welcome to the June 22 DIS'ers thread and the group. There is a "Sports Deck" at the front of the ship, it's pretty windy up there, but there is basketball and some other activities.
As far as the KTTW cards, I am not familiar enough to answer. I am sure someone else will speak up very shortly.
Looking forward to meeting you on board the MAGIC at the sail-away party. Are you staying at the Radisson the night before or are you flying in that morning? If so, you are more than welcome to join us around the pool the afternoon/evening before.
Enjoy counting them down with us!!!

We seem to be too busy to spend much time worrying though! Andy and Howard were cub scout camping this weekend and Howard came home early to run a 5K for MS and I did the 5K walk. Fun but I am sore and exhausted. I can't imagine how he feels. Jen's 8th grade dance was very nice and she had a blast with her friends and at a local burger and ice cream place afterwards. Surprisingly, she was awake before noon. It was fun to decorate yesterday and then to be at the dance, helping take polaroids for all the kids for souvenirs and then working on door prizes and clean up. Seems like the time to 6/21 is counted down by events at this point rather than days--baseball games, band concert, field day, memorial day weekend on our friends' boat, then six flags great adventure with dear friends (caroline and roberta will remember steve and judy and laura and andrew from 5/16/01 sailing), then special olympics summer games, end of year picnics, etc. etc. Time will really fly now guys! any correlation?
Apparently, our documents have not been printed yet and it will likely be another week and a half or so. So sad.
So, I was wondering, what makes our situation different from others who have received their documents. As far as I can tell, the people who have gotten their documents:
1) booked using DVC points; or
2) booked through AAA; or
3) bought DCL airfare
Is there anyone who has not gotten their documents who is DVC, booked through AAA, or using DCL air arrangements? Just curious as to whether those reasons dictate the order in which tickets are printed? I don't think it is geography, is it?
Guess I will have to be satisfied just reading trip reports:)

Cam,
We booked through the travel agent on base. We aren't a member of DVC, AAA or anything. I thought we would get them late because we booked so late. I didn't make the reservation until Feb. The only rooms left then were on level one. Maybe we can figure this out. I don't think it's by state. What cabin is every one in who has received theirs?
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hello everybody!
In Cincinnati, we are waiting for Spring and waiting to dry up.
too cold for May and too much rain. I can't get out to play golf!
This Saturday is my Daughter, Jessica's 11th Birthday party and my wife and i's 17th Anniversary. So much to think about, then schools out! I work from home, so we have to make plans for the kids to participate in activities outside the home. Then we can think about the TRIP! Not really, we think about it before anything else. i check the boards when we get up in the morning to see what you all have been talking about! If i haven't mentioned it yet... I'm i love with the MOUSE! So a day has not gone by where i tell the Kids that "I WANT TO SEE MICKEY!"
Anyway, i tell you all about Mickey and me later.
Didgital cameras are nice. i have the Nikon 995. You can't use it for Action shots. it's great in daylight or a room that is lit up. forget about the flash. i still have to learn the software. Do you know if the ship has photo developing or didgital processing like they have at EPCOT. if so then two 64's are enough. if not....more! I use a 16mb and two 64's. i lable them 1,2,3. and download to a file or have a photo plase do it for me while i'm traveling.
We are told by AAA that we still won't get our stuff for two more weeks. so i'm jealous for all those who get theirs.
Julie has been handling the excursions...a lot of them have been taken up. since this will be our first down there, we want to book with DISNEY.
Keep the thread going, i enjoy the reading. i hope to learn for you CRUISE VETS!

Learning more and more on this cruise board. I see people have posted about the Catamaran boat excursion in Cozumel and someone else posted about the Jeep Safari excursion in Cozumel. I am looking forward to more trip reports. The trip reports so far have been o.k., but looking for more details about times to disembark on the islands. Hope things go smoothly and we get all the sightseeing that we can. Take care everyone and keep in touch...........

We still don't have our documents yet-booked with DU and are on deck 8. We had hoped the waitlist would come through for a cat 3 but no luck. I wonder why our documents aren't even printred yet--that's what Donna at DU told me in an email. You do wonder what type of system they have . 3 other cabins with our group--all booked with DU on deck 7--no documents.

the5J's,
We are from Lawrencburg (Bright Actually) Really sick of the rain as well, I'm just glad we live up on one of the hills. My DD is out on Thursday, can't believe they are going to be out of school before Memorial Day. The nice thing is that I have kept telling here the cruise will be soon after school is out. And now school is almost out.
TENNDVC,
Depends on the setting for your camera. I have one that will compresses the 3.1 megapixel pictures with a 128Mb card will hold about 300 pictures, at the 2.1 megapixel setting (not compressed) it holds approximately 150 pictures I am considering another 128 Mb card, especially since they have dropped in price recently.
And practice taking pictures as well as saving them and printing them. I saved some of my first pictures at the wrong settings and they were not a crisp as they could be. Also Kodak has a great program that you can download from their website, that makes it easy to save at the better settings and print. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. I got mine a year in advance for this reason. We are also planning of bringing the 35 MM cameras as well as the video camera, you just never know.
You may want to purchase another battery, mine died in Vegas last year, forgot the charger, and couldn't find a place to purchase one in Vegas. It also came into use today at the Zoo, both fully charged, but after about 5 hours and 60 some pictures, my first battery was close to dying, so I just dropped in the fresh one and off I went, again.

Hello to THE5J'S,
We live just outside of Cincinnati and will be cruising on the June 22nd cruise. This will be our 4th disney cruise (we can't get enough!!!!) Thanks goodness for the DVC.
Let's pray for better weather than we are having. Thrity-five degrees at night in May just is not RIGHT. Give me the hot and balmy evenings of the sea!
We are on deck 5 and have no documents as of yet (booked through DVC)
Never fear, they should be on there way.
Everyone is in for such a great time. Can't wait to get there!

U2birds - Glad to see you have joined us. We are in Syracuse, NY in it has been raining for about a week and we are sick of it. The rain stayed away for last Friday for our son's Jr. Prom and then it rained all day on Saturday. It rained all last week too. We actually had sun today, but it has been frost warning last 3 nights and it has been down right cold and damp and we are sick of it. Are you guys staying at the Radisson on Friday or are you coming in in Saturday?

Just a quick welcome for all of you who recently posted. Many of us are getting together at the Radisson the night before the cruise and at the Sail-away party on Deck 10, starboard. I hope you all will wear your lime green ribbons and stop by to say hello, meet everyone, chat, have a cocktail, etc.
The party has not yet started......

We will be comming from a six night stay at The Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. After a week at Disney World we're going to need seven days of pampering!!!
We've also just found out that one of the other users of this board and their family are long time family friends that we had no clue were going on the same cruise. (Wow, what a small world!) It's going to be great to see them!!!
Is there any way we can speed up time? I don't think we can get there soon enough! We will be looking for all of you on Deck 10.

That is great for U2birds, these Disney Cruises always seem to be "Magical" That will be a great way to have even more fun on the cruise knowing someone. We are sailing with 2 other families from home and are meeting up with 2 other families that we met last year on the Disney Cruise. Cam & Howard and Caroline & Mike and it will be great seeing them again. I know what you mean about speeding up time, we can't wait !!!

Hello U2BIRDS and KIMDISFAN
West Chester says HI!
Is there any interest in a Cincinnati pre-cruise party?
I would like to learn more on how to get the most out of the MAGIC!
May be at Bahama Breeze Restaurant or someplace else?
What are the ages of your children?

Hi, everyone! Where has everyone been? Not much action on this thread. Maybe we are all busy scouring the websites for Key West, Cozumel and Grand Cayman?:) Since we don't expect to have our documents for a while  , I have decided to focus on the packing list. :p Surprisingly, I am actually paring it down, rather than adding to it. Of course, more and more stuff is getting allocated to Howard's carryon :D . I'll carry the papers and some clothes. He can carry the camcorder, extra batteries, the toiletries, . . . oh, yeah, . . . . the collapsible cooler too, which will only be filled after we arrive in cape canaveral ;) Have decided we definitely need to carry on some coke and diet coke for malibu rum & coke  Friends have already put in their tequila and rum orders with us, so I think Howard's carry on will be even heavier coming back. Does anyone know if we can carry closed liquor bottles off the ship and onto the plane. Would hate to have to figure that all out at the airport.
BTW, is everyone going to the airport right from the port? What times are your return flights?

Cam, saw a while ago that people coming back from recent cruises they carried bottles back on the plane in those cardboard box carriers. We should have not problems. We are going delta and I can't remember the time around 11 something, we are the only ones out of 12 of us going back that same day. Bob &Cindi are going to stay a coulple more days and see Bob's parents and Bob & MaryAnne are staying a couple more days and seeing his brother. We will have the job of picking them up at the airport the days they get home, which is always fun. Ralph loves the airports. Hope this helped. When do you guys fly back and what airline?

Hey, Roberta--
sounds like we will be hanging around the airport a couple hours longer than you. You'll be halfway home by the time our USAirways flight departs at 1:50. Fortunately, we still get home pretty early, about 4:30. We still don't know if Howard will be driving his mom back to Pittsburgh that Sunday. I am sure he will be exhausted for work on Monday.
Good to know about carrying the bottles back. Guess we will need to be sure we ask for carrier boxes. Was hoping to carry home the tortuga rum cakes in my carry on (just in case I got so depressed about the end of vacation that I would NEED fortification :D ), but I guess I will pack those rum cakes with all the rest of the loot. I never remember the limits for customs. Will have to look that up, just in case there is a limit on . . . well, you can probably guess

My brother asked us to bring back rum cakes for him too and not wanting to take up too much room in the luggage-I looked on the internet and found the web site for the Tortuga rum cakes. The web site address is tortugarums.com and they will ship rum cakes, rum, and hot sauces for you. I do not know how much they usually cost but shipping is included and it will be easier to ship them home then lug them in the suitcase but maybe they charge you too much, if anyone knows let me know.
Thanks!

Hi, Kristina--
When we went, there was a kiosk in the middle of a plaza where you could pick out the variety you wanted for a 6 or 8-pack of small (maybe 8 oz) cakes. There were so many flavors that I cannot even remember all of them, but I think I remember the chocolate was to die for. :D I checked out the website and it looks like they don't have that sampler pack. It didn't take up much room in our suitcase, though.

Howard & Cam.
We have a later flight coming home also 4:30. Thought we might want to cruise over to Downtown Disney before heading home or have a nice lunch out. With the short flight home we will still be home before dark. It is about a 2 1/2 drive from Nashville back to Knoxville.
Can't believe both boys are out of school already. Looking forward to the long weekend starting tomorrow. I am off until Wed so maybe I will get more cruise shopping done.

Just checked out Mr. Sancho's! It looks great. If no one has a better suggestion, I'm taking my family there! Missed out on the excursions that we wanted and now I'm feeling that it might be better that way.

As of today, Louie's Backyard will be taking phone reservations for lunch and dinner while the Magic is docked in beautiful Key West. We will be calling to make dinner reservatons. They will accept them 30 days in advance. I have heard a lot of great things about Louie's Backyard, history, atmosphere, food, views, etc. They have a website you can check out if you are interested...

Still waiting for the docs to arrive, it might be a while..... unfortunately.
The thought of the cruise and meeting everyone and seeing our great friends from the May '01 Magic sustain us.
Have a wonderful day and holiday weekend.

Hi, Yvonne!
Your plans for that saturday sound great. We are going to take DCL transfer back to the airport and will probably sleep in chairs there :) We don't have a rental car for that day and our flight is early enough that it makes sense for us to go to the airport and hang out. That is usually the time I spend checking work voicemail and making notes of priorities for back to work. We usually also check in with the kids and other family to let them know we are back on terra firma and ready to head home. Fortunately, the orlando airport has some fun shopping, including a disney store! As if I would not have had enough disney by then. Never enough. Certainly never too much!
