If you go to the friendship park, you can register for camp team. They randomly assign a team color shirt to you. If it is taking a while to register, keep clicking and waiting. I got 4 green shirts when it finally went though lol. I tried clicking on Hello Kitty but got nothing new right before they closed.

Just wanted to offer a helping hand to those who could do with a few more bear bills. The Scavenger Hunt (in the shack on the beach, next to Kitty's recently-vacated spot) always has the items in the same rooms. If you play the game and get the items reasonably quickly, you can get 100 or more bills a game! :goodvibes The rooms are as follows:

Skate Park
Bear University

The one in the Town Square sometimes hides behind the advertising board outside Build-A-Bear, which can make it hard to click on. If you can't click on, or can't find an item, go into another room then back into that room, and it has often moved.

They will give you something called a welcome pass that can be used up to 5 times. The first time I went, I took the certificates (no bears) and they gave us two passes for the kids in our family. The following week, I went to a different mall and just asked the lady behind the desk for the passes (no bear or certificate) and was able to get two more for friends. I don't think you will need bears, but the certificates might help make it easier to procure.

I think the bear slippers were given out by Maxine Clark's character (CEB of BuildaBear) a while back to celebrate her birthday.

As for the big glasses, those are something you get when you buy a real bear and bring the Read Teddy to life as your virtual bear.

I'm pretty sure the quests have ended. I've tried to do the other one and it won't let me. Also, I tried to do the 2 with another account it I can't. Also the London Bear doesn't give out the Tank top anymore and Hello Kitty is gone.

My DD and I both got a USA Bear this weekend :banana: I'm excited to be carrying around a bear with our Contry's colors.

Anyone else excited about the new kitchen stuff coming out today? If only they'd open the doors and let us play! Might be a while since last time they made a major change with the addition of the camp, the site had lots of issues early on that they seemed to fix within the day. The photo shows a pan rack hanging from the wall...I wonder if that means we will finally be able to put stuff on the walls??

BTW, does anyone else catch themselves playing the photo safari game with their left hand on the arrow keys - LOL! I do it just about every time. My hands automatically go to the arrow keys because that is how you steer Ned's Jungle Cruise boat and the VFK vehicle. In BABV, you just use the mouse to point and click, so the arrow keys are unused. Old habbits are hard to break.

The purple bear is supposed to give cotton candy when you click it, but it never showed in my inventory. The carnival games are pay to play (cheap - 5 bear bills) and look like fun if they'd work. There are several new outfits for sale (inexpensive as well) in the fashion district store that include a drum major, clown, baton twirler, lollipop and several balloon hats.

Ok, so far, I LOVE this game! Lol. I've met some people, and I've been playing hide and seek all day! Lol. But there are questions inside that are dying to come out, along with some annoyances, lol.

So, without a bear you can't:
-Have a condo
-Visit condos
-Chat freely
-Shop
-Play some games
-Send messages?
-Have a bear! (of course)

But you can:
-Trade
-Wear anything those with bears can
-Play some games
-Explore every room (except condos)
-Read/Accept messages

(Is there anything I missed? Am I wrong about something? If so, please let me know!! :D)

Know I have to have a tiny vent if that's ok with you, Lol. It's getting really annoying without chatting. I try to get out what I want to say with the list of chat phrases, but it is so difficult! Ugh!! :headache:

I had a hot dog hat that I won today fromt he fountain, but stupid ol' me went and pressed the OK! button without realizing the other person put in my hat. I feel so stupid that I forgot to take it out! Lol.

Does anyone know if the fountain game will stay after this theme, or if the prizes will change after this theme?

Buildabearville started in Sept or Oct 2007. If you have any questions about rarity of an item, I will do my best to answer it.

I began playing BABV after VMK closed, and have slowly begun getting most of the items I looked for though trades. It may be slow at first, but once you get a feel for the value of the items, you can trade up over time by adding credits. And as you found out, be super careful of that OK button because you can loose a lot, too.

I have no idea if the fountain game will remain, but my guess is that the game will either disappear or the prizes will change over time.

There are 3 parts to the challenge: Fast Paw, Bear-2-bear baseball and finally the Kick-it-quick game. It is not simple but achievable.

I think the interview will occur in the game. They just opened the new studio off Town Square today, so the interview might be there later. BTW, if you are a big fan of Corbin Bleu, you can get a free poster of him (virtual and real) by visiting one of the real BABW stores this week.

Also...there was a new feature added a few weeks ago, that now lets us join our friends if we follow them to a den. It sure does make finding your friends easier now :thumbsup2

Today, they started a Jr. CybearGuide program (kind of like VMK's Community Leaders). I took the test this morning, and it is official... I am a Jr. CybearGuide :teeth: CybearGuides can be identified by a special hat that floats a blue star above their head. The nice thing about this, is that if you need a break from answering questions, the hat can be removed and hidden.

The photo in my siggie was made from a photobooth inside the apple orchard barn. It was only open for a short while one morning before they closed it. I think they were just testing a few things, and my guess is that it will probably be released tomorrow. If you see fallen leaves dotting the streets in the neighborhood and fashion district, you might want to check to see if they opened the barn. The photo booth at the barn would not make posters for your condo, but it would display each photo on a corkboard there. There were several halloween type backgrounds to choose from, and you did not have to worry about your posters from the other photobooth being 'overwritten'.

During the test preview, I saw a sign in the fashion district that was advertizing new clothes to be purchased each week in October! I am giddy because I really hope that means we can have some fun costumes. There was a tester several months back that was trying on unreleased items such as a bear head and mittens (paws?). And there has been a big buzz surrounding the large white 'cartoon gloves' that have yet to be released.

In addition, a car button tab was briefly seen in the inventory screen with confirmation from Maxine that new forms of transportation would be coming, most likely in November.

There's been some new stuff happening and more to come. Bearemy in Town Square, and the Bears in the Skate Park and Fashion district all give you a Friendship Party Tee, Flag and Sign when you click on them and agree to Promote the Friendship party. You can go to the Libeary and register to vote and receive a Registration Card then on November 4th you can vote for the 3 different bears. There will soon be Virtual rides, and a few other great things coming in November. The map has been updated so you can click on the building you want to go to just move the map around with your mouse.

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of BABV. Bearemy is giving away a special party move, Pawlette is giving away a special 1-year shirt and you can jump from den to den to find unlimited play on the fountain game! I personally want to update you on an important step we have taken to limit the chat capability in buildabearville.com. Until recently, Build-A-Bearville provided parents with two chat options to choose from: 'safe menu chat', for Guests 12 years and younger, and 'safe open chat', for Guests over 13 years old.
Effective October 16, 2008, we disabled 'safe open chat' and now our virtual world Guests can ONLY communicate using 'safe menu chat'. 'Safe menu chat' allows communication using only pre-defined words and phrases; these words and phrases can not be changed. Until technology is available to prevent potential abuse we will continue to use 'safe menu chat'.
Through our ongoing monitoring of the site, we identified abuse of the 'safe open chat' feature. Although our 'safe open chat' option has always blocked inappropriate words, we found it was possible to use a combination of punctuation and otherwise appropriate words to form suggestive expressions that could be interpreted as not appropriate. Since the vast majority of our Guests in Build-A-Bearville use 'safe menu chat', a small number of people were exposed to these unacceptable expressions. This absolutely violated our online safety rules and was not tolerated. The violators were immediately banned from our site and we quickly moved to limit the chat capability to 'safe menu chat' only. We have also taken steps to prevent violators from opening new character accounts on the site.

BABV was a wonderful game that could have easily been my VMK replacement, then they went and removed open chat. Quite honestly, the game just isn't the same. Without a decent way to talk to friends, there is no compelling reason for me to linger in the game. When I do run across friends, all we can do is dance and make faces at each other. Buildabear is supposed to be allowing phrases to be submitted by the Junior CybearGuides soon, and I really hope this helps.

What I don't understand is why they didn't just ban the offenders? If a parent has a problem with the open chat, then they should just not approve the email confirmation allowing it and the child would remain in the safe chat or silent mode.

There was a glimmer of hope at one point that the open chat would be back, but there has been very little response from Buildabear that is encouraging.

Just a quick note for anyone who is interested, they have fixed the glitches with the lessons, so you now get money for them :goodvibes. This may not have been a problem for you, but I wasn't getting any money for lessons, even though it said I was (once you've completed all 3 levels of all three lessons, it will start giving you credits for playing). Anyway, they've now fixed this problem, and I've found it's a great little earner! For playing one round of any of the three games, you get:

Easy - 25
Normal - 50
Hard - 100

So 30 seconds of typing (on the hardest level of basketball) can earn you 100 bills! :thumbsup2

The Open Chat option in BABV will be available for everyone (pending parental approval) as of Sept. 23rd.

With all the concerns about internet gaming safety lately, I appreciate all that BABV has done to educate and protect the people playing this game. Although I was very disappointed when they removed open chat, I know they did so at the expense of losing players and revenue to rework it so that it would be safer. In addition, they have provided in-game Internet Safety Quizzes to help educate players, created parent advisory councils to advise them with game design, provided parental/child safety info via links from the games home page ( http://www.buildabearville.com//safetyTips.html ) and teamed up with Parry Aftab, a leader in internet safety to make their site safer.

I'm impressed with the steps Build-a-Bear has taken with this game and anytime I've had issues with game play, they have been responded to. I don't think a lot of VMKers gave this site much of a chance thinking that they'd have to purchase items to play. There is ample to do there without necessarily purchasing anything and players can trade with others for special items. Considering the monthly fees that other games are charging nowadays that come with nothing but virtual perks, I am quite pleased to support this game by purchasing a stuffed animal that is tangible and getting its bonus items for the game.

If you're considering giving this game a trial, McDonalds will be collaborating with Build-a-Bearville Oct 2-22 with meal toys that come with game codes.

Lots of new updates for October out today. I'm really enjoying the new stuff, so I'll probably be playing more this month.

Some of the new things that I noticed are: a new quest, the holiday shop is now open and a new broom ride is available in BVO, piles of leaves are available to jump in, cyberbully awareness month, new fountain prizes, classroom tasks are now crediting properly, and the spooky house is now open with a maze game for an award!

I really like the new maze. One thing I noticed is the wallpaper from that game. It looks VERY similar to the Haunted Mansion wallpaper from Disney. Take a look -

The new laptop seems to be able to get on, eventually. Is our computer just too old for Buildabearville? We got on most of the time through the summer but this week it's giving us fits!

My son and I have trouble logging into BABV from time to time. I read about a trick that seems to help. When you log in you will notice the hour glass appears and has a short time when it gets really slow flipping over and then gets fast again...

Wait to select a den until after the hour glass has gone though that slow spell and has returned to normal speed. If this does not help, try clearing your temp files, but it may take a very long time to log in the first time after you clear your files.

It has happened to us too. We always do like Beherenow says. I also noticed that some dens seems to work better. We used to always choose the less busy den, but now we use the second less busy. We are from Canada, we have like four or five dens to choose from. Sometimes when nothing works, we choose a den from the USA.

Actually, we went there today to use the store credit coupons. There were 3 of us from my family using the coupons, and they had to process each one separately. Each time they used the coupon, it appreared as a store item on the reciept, so we actually got the 5 store credits plus one for each reciept code...not to mention the fact that the 3 reciept codes could be used up to 5 times each.

So lets figure this up -

5+5+5+(3x5)=30 store credits for all 3 of us to use. Now, we just have to decide what we want to spend them on. I'm probably going to get the new moves. :D

Okay, today at the store they told me to go to the option where you enter your Stuff fur Stuff number as well as the receipt code. That is a perk of SfS to be able to use the receipt code on more than one character. Will be testing this theory tomorrow!

We picked up our 4 free cards of 5 credits and used our $10 Stuff fur Stuff on a brush and a saddle/bridle. Didn't pay a cent! She didn't know if we would get credits for buying credits, but I bet we do, it says Items Purchased: 6.
