I love the signature vase!::yes:: It's different and something you will use after you're an old married lady. I like it.

In reference to your signature vase, I thought I would share what I did at my wedding. I copied something that my grandparents did when they got married in the 1920's. They had everyone sign a Champagne bottle. They kept that Champagne bottle throughout their whole marriage, which was over 50 years.

Here is my bottle:
http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/oo230/Donnatb1/P1000607.jpg

And where it is stored in my china cabinet, next to my wedding china and our Eiffel Tower cake topper:

Not to highjack, just thought I would share since your vase reminded me of my wedding.

:rotfl2: Future hubby picked up an expensive hobby but now I'll never need a professional photographer, unless he needs to be the one in FRONT of the camera. :cool1:

Here are pics of the invitations.
They were from mygastby.com. They were about $350 for 25 and they threw in some extras. I know! Expensive.

One thing Kevin and I love about having a small wedding (guest count is dwindling down to about 35), is that we can spoil our guests. We are blessed to be able to pay for the wedding ourselves, and proud to spoil the few guest we have.
Sometimes I wish I had more guests to show off my gorgeous and expensive dress to, but it is what it is. :goodvibes And I am so excited that in less than 2 months we will see all of our planning and money pay off for a timeless experience!

I sometimes wonder if we should have cut more corners to save money. But at this point, there is no turning back. And I don't think I could have planned a better wedding, just a different one - that may or may not have cost less. So I am glad to be getting married at Disney, where I can't imagine being disappointed in the service, coordination, and quality.

That being said...

here are our invitations and a few other photos for fun.

We hand delivered as many invitations as possible during Christmas, to save on postage, and mailed the rest.
I was so shocked when we accidently mailed an invitation to Taiwan on two 56 cent stamps and it got there within a week to two weeks!!
One thing I love about these invitations is that every printed surface is thermography, and we designed them ourselves!

Oh my gosh! I just spent over three hours on the computer emailing people about the wedding! I feel like this :headache: because it is my day off and I work on a computer 9+ hours a day as it is, and like this :cheer2: because I got so much done.

I had to email people about responsibilities, finish revising the ceremony, pick bible readings, send the readings to my friend, email the best man and let him know he is giving a toast, email the matron of honor with lists of information she needed, email the florist, email the planner. Ugh. Time for a nap. :lmao:

How special that you and DF were able to design your invitations, what a wonderful keepsake. I love the different colored envelopes for your invitations too!

Hopefully, things are still going smoothly. I know what you mean about getting stuck on the computer doing wedding stuff. Sometimes I would spend the entire day 12 or more hours after being at work all day and then going home to do newsletters, etc. :surfweb:

Any new updates?

Crown_princess
03-01-2009, 12:05 AM
Yup!

Definitely new stuff to post!

I decided to take some steps to add flare to the wedding without having to pay the big $$. So I made a pomander for MOH in place of a bouquet, and made four little floral pieces to go in between the side and unit candles. After the ceremony, the little floral pieces will be moved to our sweetheart table.
The pomander will go on the cake table probably - to spruce it up.

I got my inspiration from another bride, jessesgirl-080708.
Thanks so much!!

They all turned out great.
I had never done silk floral arrangements before, except for a modernistic wreath I made for Thanksgiving.

The mickey pomander turned out bigger than I planned. Good thing is that MOH is tall so it shouldn't dwarf her.

http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp129/Crown_princess_photos/IMG_1318-1.jpg

http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp129/Crown_princess_photos/IMG_1315.jpg

http://i404.photobucket.com/albums/pp129/Crown_princess_photos/IMG_1316-1.jpg

I bought all of the materials at Michael's.
For the pomander:
two smaller styrofoam balls, one larger
floral wire
hot glue gun with glue sticks
various silk floral
needle nose pliers with wire cutter
Ribbon

The tricky part is getting the wire thru the balls without it bending. Use the glue to reinforce the wire. Be advised that the tip of the glue gun and the glue may melt the balls slightly.
Shave off the bottom sides of the ball with a safety razor blade to enhance fit.
Cut floral with stems long enough to stick into balls and reinforce anything loose with glue.
Cut smaller pieces and glue close directly to balls to emphasize shape of mickey head, when doing floral between to ears at top of head.
Create loop of wire thru top of mickey head and reinforce with glue. Thread ribbon thru with handle. Trim ribbon.

I'm also going to add swrsk. crystals later.

On other news...
our guest count is down from the planned 50 to 30, including me and DF. We're okay with it, but it is a little disappointing to spend so much on a wedding for so few people. At the end of the day I'm sure we'll be glad we did, because it will be so memorable.

I added light pink table cloths to the sweetheart table and cake table, since I'm wearing an ivory gown and don't want to clash with the white cloths in our pictures.

Our free time is devoted to the fine details of coordination. The majority of the planning is done, but there are always little things that need to be done.

We ordered our rings!
We're supposed to get them on Monday. Yay!

MOH is awesome. She is doing the programs, tea party invites, and more. I'm so glad. At this point I'm exhausted and the wedding is so close. It's a big relief not to have to do those things.

I am just catching up on your PJ! I can't believe i took me this long to find it! Everything looks amazing, I think you are very well prepared for the big day! I will be in WDW on your wedding so maybe I will see a super happy newly married couple strolling around and say to myself "hey they look so happy, must be a disbride and groom!"
Your pomander looks great, I may have to "borrow" that idea!
And I am absolutly in love with your E-Pics! I was going back and forth over having e-pics of us at the boardwalk, but after seeing yours I am positive I would love to have pics like that! You both look so happy and glamorous! :goodvibes

Everything looks soo great! I love DIY projects! I know I always feel so great after they are done.

Don't worry about your guest count dwindling! Ours is too but I am having it webcasted so everyone who can't be there in person to share our day with us will be there via PC. I think that we originally started out with about 55 guests and we are down to 30 as well. But as long as the Bride and Groom are happy that's all that matters!

Your big day is coming up really soon! I'm soo excited for you! I just feel like time is flying by!

It's good to hear I'm not alone. I feel kind of guilty that I didn't plan for it. All the wedding books I have read said to count on 30% of people dropping out for a destination wedding. :scared1: I think I was in denial. I should have invited more people! Poor DF's family had told some friends about the wedding and sort of informally invited them (this was last summer) and I said that we could only invite as many people as we had seats for. I feel so embarrassed now. :rolleyes1

The webcasting is a GREAT idea. I hadn't thought of that. :lmao: My last thought before bed was that I should do something similar! Great idea!

On other news:

- my dress final fitting is next weekend, MOH is coming from San. Fran., CA to learn how to do my fabulous bustle. She's so sweet
- my work friends decided to thru me a b.party next Thursday night. I'll try to remember to take pics
- I'm a little concerned about my dress: I'm paying $450 for alterations and had my second fitting. The dress fit like a dream, except the bottom hem is not straight in front.:headache: The seamstress said that the diagonal bodice caused the hem to do that, and that she would either have to cut off more fabric :scared1: or take out the seam from the bodice. I don't want her to make it any shorter, since it already isn't as long as I want. And I dont' want her to take it from the seam, because what if I pull on it and it rips. :scared: SO I ended up telling her not to do anything with it. Ugh.

It's probably pointless for me to try to console you about this, women preparing for their wedding day can be quite "particular." You want everything to be perfect and just right, we all do. But try not to stress out about what you think might be an imperfection in your dress. I remember your pictures, without a fitting your dress was STUNNING, all eyes will be on you and your DH, there won't be a single person there that will think your dress is not straight in the front, particularly if you have an asymetrical bodice, it sounds like it is meant to be that way. If it isn't, people will just assume it does.

Your wedding day is a glorious day where you marry someone you love. It is a party to celebrate your union. It only lasts one, very quick, day. There is just no time to waste on an alleged crooked hem.

I swear to you, no one will notice. (Does that help;) )

Yeah, I can't decide what song to use for the unit candle.
We are at the WP, so we have an organist.
What songs can people suggest for the unit candle?
Tale Old as Time?
A Whole New World?
I was thinking that these songs, with words, might sound cheesy. But on the organ it might be a more subtle Disney touch.
What have other people used?

My main wedding task this weekend is the wedding time line. But I am fighting a sore throat, trying not to let it turn into something worse (my colds 80% of the time turn into bronchitis which takes me a month to get rid of - read, leaving for wedding trip in 18 days :headache: ). So I don't know if that will get done this weekend. Although for fighting a cold, I did allot today: worked out, got my oil changed, bought a bikini, went tanning, did the dishes...hmmm. Oh, and I'm about to do laundry. :lmao: AND make egg salad sandwiches for dinner. I did get a few hours on the couch with DF pouring over me about drinking airborne and the importance of rest. Oh and frozen yogurt was provided. :cloud9:

So far I have been taking daily vitamin, airborne, decaf tea, and antihistamine. I wasn't congested until today. I think that's my fault because I blew my nose so much. I went thru 1/2 roll of toilet paper at work (10 hours). ugh. I know...TMI.

:goodvibes Thanks. Saturday is my final fitting.
I bought new shoes and they are shorter than expected. So I have to take them with me to make sure it works out. I should probably buy some a little taller, just in case. And then return the ones I don't use. My original plan was to cover my shoes from Aerosoles in the fabric from my dress. That was ruined when I couldn't even cut it with scissors. :rotfl2: But I think all things work out for good: the seamstress cut my dress shorter than I asked, and the shoes are shorter than I thought they would be. :)

Darn it! The most my daily vitamins have is 1,000 IU's. I'm congested tonight, so DF is running out to get me DayQuil and NyQuil. I hope that helps. I wouldn't buy it before because I was just having post-nasal drip. But now it seems like it won't be an excessive use of medicine. Oh, and he also made me dinner. He never ceases to amaze!:flower3:

Hi, friends.

I am feeling better! I still have a cough, but it is only once every hour or so and more forced than unstoppable.

The wedding is so close now! 16 days.
It is going to fly by.

MOH came down for the weekend to help with wedding stuff. It was a real motivator to beat the cold and get organized.

I was not feeling motivated, had sort of ran out of steam, so to speak.

Anyway. We made a list of what needed to be done and it was reassuring that it is getting significantly shorter.

We headed out to Target, Friday, and bought pink and green gift bags as our welcome bags and some pink and white tissue paper. I want to keep the welcome bags simple.

I am attempting to follow a tip I read for welcome bags:
- something sweet
- something savory
- water
- a piece of fruit
- a schedule
- a thank you note

I think I got this from Mindy Weiss, not sure

So we walked around Target and planned what we will buy in Orlando to put in the bags (flying, can't bring with). We will go to the Walmart.
We took pics on our phones so we wouldn't forget and would be able to get in and out of Walmart.
We settled on:
- a bottle of water
- mini milk dud containers (they take up space) or candy bars
- oranges
- small packs of trail mix
- a schedule
- park maps
- a thank you note

I don't plan on doing anything to personalize the bags.

My goal for the next 16 days is to not get stressed out. I get stressed out really easily, so I am forcing myself to let-go-and-let-God. Which just means not to dwell and linger over things. Everything is falling into place, and I just need to follow up on the details, but I don't want to nit-pick too much or worry. I want to enjoy the week we are there and relax as much as possible.

After our target trip, MOH showed me the emergency purse she made. It is so cute! She bought the purse with her shoes at Payless, and got the purse half off. Her shoes are dyed the perfect shade of pink to match the pink roses in her pomander - which she just saw this weekend.

The emergency purse is amazing! It has everything I could possibly need, and I added fashion tape and oil blot papers to it. She even made a list of everything in it! :worship: I will post a picture later.

Saturday:

Today we went to the tailor and picked up my dress, so she could learn how to do my bustle. Wow! It is so beautiful. I was so thrilled with my dress, that I was hugging the bag and saying, "I love my dress," as we walked out of the shop. Alterations were $450, but I have to tell you that it was completely worth it. My dress looks like it was made custom for me, and essentially it was, since it was taken apart and redone to fit my frame perfectly. I can't wait for the wedding pics!!:yay: :cloud9:

MOH left and went home. I'm really thankful she drove 6-8 hours to come help.

That was so sweet of your MOH to make the trip down. I know how nice it was when my MOH came from Indiana (I'm in Michigan) to help with some things :goodvibes The welcome bag list sounds great and what a great list of things to include. And you're right eople care the most about the snacks :thumbsup2 Plus the schedule is the best thing to keep everyone coordinated.

Hi, all.

Checking in with you very late at night, so will keep this short.

It's been a crazy past couple of weeks. I still have a lingering cough from the cold.

I had a bachellorette party last Friday night. So awesome!
We played had dinner, played games, and went to bars.
I don't think my pictures are appropriate for the boards. :lmao:

Thursday before that work threw me a wedding shower. We hit the jackpot of gifts!

We are trying to finalize our planning - communicating schedules, etc to guests, washing laundry, dry cleaning. We are also working full schedule days. The only reason I'm up at 11pm is that I am working off nervous energy. And my "woman time" starts tomorrow :headache: so not only am I nervous, I'm moody.

DF has been warned :rotfl:

I sent out a time line of all events, and bus schedules, via email today.
DF is writing the Thank you note for the Welcome bags.

MOH has done programs. WP has answered tons of questions.
Now just to get there. That's the hard part.

Hey Sweetheart.

We are all getting excited for how wonderful your wedding will be. Don't stress about anything, just focus on the great memories, so you don't forget anything.

Many blessings to you both. Can't wait to hear all the happy details.

It's hard to open up to people you don't know as close friends. But I'm going to in the hopes that prayers will help.

It's 11pm and I am packing my suitcase. I have a 10 am flight.

I just got a call from my dad. His in the ER on nitro and there may be a blockage in his heart. He is being kept overnight for monitoring.

He is supossed to be on the road with my mom, on the way to my grandmas. To help her get to FL. Please pray for a speedy recovery and that this is just a false alarm.

All I can do right now is hold myself together and finish packing.

I don't know if I will be able to post until we get back from the wedding, so please don't worry. Just pray.
Thanks.

Wedding TR: Day 1

Hi, everyone. Thank you for keeping up with reading our PJ. Now for the start of the TR!

Thursday, March 27th

Hubby and I arrived at MCO (airport) around 6pm. We walked to the transportation pick up, lower level, and checked into Magical Express.
We took a potty break and then walked up to the Magical Express boarding area. During the potty break I had put on my bride ears  ready to get some Disney magic. As we walked up to the boarding area, everyone starred at us and whispered, except for one of the cast members who excitedly asked us if we were getting married at Disney. In hindsight, that question was almost redundant, if you consider that I was carrying a body bag with a wedding dress in it.;)
We had a couple nice conversations with curious folks, as we waited in line to go to Contemporary; and once there, the magic continued. We went to the check in desk ready to work our stuff: I had my ears on, looking sweet, and cradling my dress. DH (how exciting to type DH!) was his usual uber charming and charismatic self. He snuck in a little chatter about the wedding and asked if there was an upgrade available. The cast member didn't say it was an upgrade, but we knew it was as soon as she told us where our room was. :wizard: We got to the room and I danced around like a crazy person, chanting "upgrade, upgrade!":cool1: One look out the window of our 4th floor, tower building room and :cloud9: Can you say perfect day? Oh, it isn't over.
We proceeded to go to California Grill with two friends for dinner. We had ate there before and had our reception there on Monday, so we were feeling rather excited to visit one of the big day sites.
After dinner we walked around the resort and got a feel for the layout. Then it was off to bed.

At California Grill (I am now wishing I had worn mascara:lmao:)

Congrats on your upgrade - did you like the Contemporary? We still don't know where we want to stay - our first anni is on Easter this year, and I have convinced DH it is time for us to go to WDW for a romantic Vaca in fall, 2010. His first time....

Anyway, I can't wait to read more!

Oh how was the Cali Grille?? We are having our anniversary dinner there. I can't wait!

Thanks for stopping by Lynn! The D40 is a fine camera, although it's being discontinued. One thing I do want to warn about the Nikon D40 and D60, is that there is no autofocus built into the body, so you have to buy autofocus lenses. So far with Canon's DSLR line up (from the least expensive XS and up) all have autofocus in the body. Both brands are great, it's just a matter of what you prefer :).

The Cali grille is fantastic, and our favorite restaurant! That first night we were there, I ate.....Ostrich! Yup, they had Ostrich on the menu. It was surprisingly very tender, with the same texture as filet mignon. Fantasic! :thumbsup2

I can't believe people here actually saw us at the pavillion! We've officially become internet celebrities :lmao:

In case you were curious as to what ostrich looked like...

Thanks! I'm excited how many people are reading along. It's allot of fun to read people's posts and to have something to do now that there is no more planning. Which is bitter-sweet, it's nice not to stress over planning but sort of boring too.

We loved Contemporary!! You must stay there. Of course, we also had an awesome room, so I'm not sure what it is like if you don't get that awesomeness. It is very convenient to be on the monorail, and we enjoyed chef Mickeys. We had our free concierge level night at Wilderness Lodge and sort of wished we had stayed at Contemporary...more on that later.

We think that we will probably go back to WDW before our free DFTW annual passes expire, as an anniversary trip. I hope you have fun on your trip too!

DH wants to post Day 2, so you can all jump up and down and urge him on. hehehehe

And, we had dinner at the California Grill on the 28th! Just one day behind you!

Congratulations on being upgraded! Thats so awesome! We stayed in the Contemporary on our honeymoon too. We LOVED it! I wish we would have just stayed there instead of leaving to go on the cruise! I love it there!!!

Day 2, Part 1!:cool1:

So on Friday, we awoke and I went down to grab us some breakfast and coffee. After paying an exorbitant amount of money for a bagel and a cup of mud water, we enjoyed a few minute out on the balcony and were treated to this view:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3550/3404332775_29beefdbb0.jpg

The plan was for my cousin and his wife to pick us up around 8:30 in the morning (!) to take us to the courthouse. They were already in Orlando, visiting a friend of theirs, and luckily had the foresight to rent a car. Soon enough, however, we received the word that they were running late and were lost trying to find the contemporary resort. So, we decided to relax a little more on the balcony:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3452/3404334035_cfc5f76361.jpg

A little later they arrived, and we were on our way to the Orange County Ocoee courthouse. Luckily, we had my cousin to document every step.
Apparently, all you really need to do to get married is read an informational packet on the marriage, which really just exposes you to the expense you might incur if you divorce, and pay 93 bucks. Kind of takes any semblance of romance out of the process.

Us in front of the courthouse:

At this point, we had a few of our friends start trickling in to Disney, so we extended an invitation to everyone to join us at Beaches and Cream for lunch. Arriving at the picturesque Yacht Club, I couldn’t help but snap off of a few shots.

One thing that they don’t tell you about Beaches and Cream is how dang hard it is to find the place. It’s hidden away in along a wall that’s only accessible from the outside. Either it’s difficult to find, or the bunch of us are directionally inept. Which isn’t exactly beyond comprehension.
Beaches and cream is a cute little soda shop, and almost all of us decided to gorge on an old fashioned cheeseburger. Afterwards, however, I made sure to save some room for the famous “kitchen sink”, a delectable (and gigantic!) ice cream sundae filled with oreos, whipped cream, angel cake, brownies, and vanilla, mint, chocolate, and coffee ice cream. “Feeds 4” is a misleading statement on the menu; it fed all seven of us very well.

Mmmmm....delicious.

Well, we had an afternoon to kill, so we finally were able to make it to a park! MK was just a short walk away, so we put on our walking shoes and made our way there. We joined up with Alex and Neil again, and along with my Best Man (Kramer) and our friend Matt, went on our way. We hit up classics such as Pirates and Buzz, and when Alex and Neil told us they had fastpasses for Splash Mountain, I couldn’t pass up this photo opportunity. Ever since I got my new camera, I’ve been dying to try to get some high speed shots.

Here are Alex and Neil starting out….

So exciting to see your TR started :goodvibes I love the commentary from both of you. I bought a new Canon SX10IS before our trip to WDW last month and I spent a lot of time experimenting with it. Definitely a great place to get the hang of a new camera!

The shots at the courthouse are such a great addition to your story; those are the little things that you'll always want to remember. The room you got at CR was really nice; I love the mirror shot where you're fluffing the gown.

We did the kitchen sink a couple years ago and it was so cool to try it. Although DH was the only one that like mint ice cream and insisted that we still get it in there. Needless to say everything tasted like mint ;)

Hey everyone!

On Friday night (day 2) we split up, so I guess I'll talk about what I did.

Julie's MOH arrived (hooray!) and myself, Julie, my best man, and Shelley (the MOH) went to dinner at the Wave, in the lobby of the contemporary resort. Disney tip: don't bother with the wave. Just take the 25 dollars you would have spent and stick it in your mouth, it's probably tastier.

Afterwards, a few guys (myself, best man, friend Matt, my cousin, and Julie's brother) split off from the womenfolk. The guys and I ended up driving about an hour to go to a place called "Hard Knocks," which is essentially laser tag pumped with HGH and steroids. After chucking away an exorbiant amount of money on tolls, we arrived at what appeared to be a normal business park.

But a normal business park, this wasn't. As we piled out of the car, through the window we saw some guy running by carrying a life-like assault rifle. We walked into Hard Knocks, and entered into male pubescent heaven. There were plasma tvs everywhere, hooked up to a multitude of video game systems. The staff was all female, who were all wearing very short and very tight shorts, knee high socks, and skimpy tank tops. I felt like a dirty old man at the age of 26.

I realize that most of (if not all) of our audience here on the DIS is female, so pardon me if the analogy gets lost. Hard Knocks is a place where someone went "Hey, you know what would be cool? If we took Call of Duty, and, like, turned it into laser tag with skimpily clad attractive women running around."

After selecting a nickname (mine was "Angrypenguin", obviously), we had the choice of either playing one of two levels. One level was decorated like an abandoned warehouse, while the other was an average office building. After shuffling in with a bunch of 16-19 year olds (we were pretty sure we were the oldest bunch there), we grabbed our gear (think really big guns!) and ran, dodged, and killed prepubescent teenagers for the next several hours. Sure, we felt a little self-conscious at first, but after awhile we really started to get into it through the course of the night.

We finally left around 1:30 in the morning and I slept-walked back to our room. Unfortunately, Julie's MOH Shelley was staying with us at the contemporary that night, and somehow I got relegated to the couch. Which would be fine, but the couch was the size of a toothbrush.

After tossing and turning and nearly falling off the couch to an almost certain death, I gave up and crawled into bed with my honey:cloud9:.

Sorry, no pics for the evening! But we'll have more pics up shortly :)

Day 2, Part 2b: The Bride's Perspective

Okay, so now time for Friday night from my POV. :goodvibes

After MK DH's parents stopped by our room to try on a tux. The best man had already tried his on. There were some shirts that didn't fit, and DH's dad was nice enough to exchange at the local MW Tux for us. I was a little shocked the DH asked him to do this, I thought it was asking alot, and even more shocked when his dad agreed. They are nice to each other!

Then we were running late for dinner at The Wave, and also waiting for MOH to arrive, so we talked to the parents for a little longer. We mentioned that we were dancing to a song in 3/4 time at the reception (waltz) and that we didn't know how to waltz. So they spontaneously errupted into a waltz and then taught us how. It was a true Kodak moment.

Then the BM called and let us know that MOH had already found her way to The Wave on her own, so we said goodbye to his parents and went downstairs. We had already spent a couple hundred dollars in food, and been at WDW for 1 Day, so we decided to split a meal. It wasn't that great but not as horrible as DH said. We had the chicken pot pie, which wasn't actually pie at all...just two chicken breasts on a plate with some gravy and veggies. :confused3

From there the menfolk arrived; and this was almost all the men in their 20s that were invited to the wedding. Keep in mind this is about 1/3 of the people attending our wedding. :lmao: I took the women folk back to our room and we discussed what we could do that night.

I had two things I had to get done: take my dad's tux to Polynesian so he could try it on (yes, they actually made it to Dis), and go to Walmart to buy things to put in the welcome bags. My sister-in-law pointed out that it might be good, since there were four of us, to split up and have two people do the tuxes and two people go to Walmart. So that's what we did.

Sister-in-law and I rode the monorail with the tux and had my dad try it on. The shoes were too tight and the handkerchief was the wrong color. I then realized that everyone else might have the wrong color too. So I told DH the next day and he alert his dad that this was the case, and we got replacements (had to pay for them though). That was taken care of.

The other two folks were my cousin-in-law's wife and MOH. I told them to buy oranges, something disney, trail mix, chocolate and water for 18 bags for under 80 dollars. They got great stuff for 89 dollars. We rendezvoused back at my room, created an assembly line, and stuffed the gift bags. People received them as soon as possible, and thought they were very nice. I think the practicality was appreciated. For a couple people that wasn't until the dessert party, but most people we saw at some point prior to that, so we would just give them the bag then - as long as it wasn't at a theme park. :)

Day 3: Epcot!

Ooookay, back in business. Slow afternoon, so I figured I'd post a few things.

We planned on being at Epcot all day, as this was the only real "park day" that we had prior to the wedding. Since a bunch of people were in town, we figured the best way to approach this was just to do pretty much what we wanted in Epcot, and have people meet us if they wanted to join up. Unfortunately, I didn't take into account the abuse that my phone would take during the course of the day, as it was a constant stream of text messages, voicemails, missed calls, calls back, etc. etc.

We took our time in the morning, as the only reason to hurry was to make our 11:30 reservations at Le Celier. Crown_Princess was also determined to wear her bride ears:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3601/3404295045_c039a36dc2.jpg

So myself, the MOH, crown_princess, and the best man excitedly entered Epcot. Of course, a few pictures were needed.

This sign seemed fitting:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3589/3405106814_e98c48f89d.jpg

After taking a few pics, we stopped by Soarin’ to grab fastpasses for later in the day. Then, it was off to Le Celier!

I had been looking forward to Le Celier, but I have to say I was really disappointed this time around. It’s expensive, that’s a given, but especially at lunch time, I felt that the quality of food was disappointing. I had the “Celier Experience” which grants you an appetizer, main entrée, and dessert. The cheese soup of course was great, but the prime rib sandwich I had was only okay. Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with it, but it’s just like every prime rib sandwich I’ve had and cost twice as much. Sorry Le Celier, but I might be hitting up Yachtsman’s steakhouse next time .

Well, during lunch, I received an avalanche of messages and phone calls, so we told people to meet us over at GM test track. Here’s a tip: the single rider line is fantastic. Rather than waiting an hour, we were in the cars within 10 minutes, often at nearly the same time.

My dear coordinating with people:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3598/3405111444_506440fd5d.jpg

So after meeting with everyone, we headed over to mission space. Knowing the full extent of the nauseating powers of the orange side, I held back while everyone piled on, not heeding my warning. So while waiting around, I snapped more pictures. Hey, I had nothing else going on.

It’s…Mission Space!

Mickey…he’s calling to us. Giiiiiive meeee yoooooour mooooooney.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3634/3404302421_08cdf3e732.jpg

Mission Space claimed one casualty. My brother in law’s wife, apparently got a slightly panicked look on her face when she found out that Mission Space spins. Yeah…no one heeded my warning of what this ride might do to them.

While she recovered, the rest of us headed off to Nemo. It was a beautiful day, and everyone was in a great mood.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3467/3404304121_44ff87606e.jpg

After Nemo, our friends Alex and Neil joined our growing entourage and we hopped onto Soarin’. Our group filled up an entire row of seats on Soarin’. I don’t know why this is important, but it is. The entourage made us feel like rap stars. Except, minus the loose fitting clothes, bling, diamond encrusted teeth, and random gunshot wounds.

Since we were down there, we went on living with the land, and ended up on a boat to ourselves. I risked my life to stand up at the front of the boat and snap off another picture:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3654/3405115932_bc870fb12b.jpg

So it was dinner time, and I was pretty insistent on getting Fish’n chips. I have no idea why, but a few of us guys stopped off for fish and chips while the ladies went and got something not so unhealthy. On top of that, I decided to treat myself to a beer, since I have a wicked alcohol tolerance.

Needless to say, after one beer I became very giggle and slightly tipsy (sad, yes, I know.) Still, we wandered around Epcot for a bit, and simply enjoyed being with friends. I’m sure crown_princess will fill in with additional details .

Did you do any sort of editing to these pictures or are they settings on the camera? If you did edit, what software did you use?

How difficult is the camera to use? I am not completely new to the photography world but definitely (not even close) to a professional. Day 4!

Day 4
While DF sat in the hotel room editing photos and answering the phone, the almost-beautiful bride went to Grand Floridian Spa to bring her beauty up to 90% ready-bride status (the other 10% to be achieved by Patricia LeJeune). It was a rainy Sunday, March 29th, so when the bride arrived at GF Hotel she was stranded on the veranda looking out toward the spa, several hundred feet away and not yet insight due to the pool blocking her view. She decided to make a run for it and arrived at the spa only minimally damp.

She donned a spa robe, decided the spa’s slippers were hideous (so kept her own), and waited in the lounge for her name to be called for a French pedi and mani. The bride had learned when making her reservation that GF Spa only does “natural” nails, so she did not get her normal acrylic. She was hoping she wouldn’t ruin this mani, pedi in the next 24 hours, which is why she normally got acrylic nails.

The spa lounge is comfortable but not quiet the ambiance one might expect for a $110 mani, pedi. However there were free refreshments: tea, water, grapefruit, and mints.

The bride realized this was the first time she had had alone in over a week and felt suddenly tired. Relieved to leave the lounge and the annoyingly chatty woman breaking the serene silence of the lounge, the bride answered to her name and was escorted to a pedicure chair.

Oh, such bliss!! But she did not know that a mani, pedi French would take 1.5 hours! Her mani, pedi was scheduled for 10:30am and she had planned to meet her groom at 12:30pm in the hotel room to practice dancing, and at 1pm was to head back from Contemporary to GF Garden View Tea Room for her 2pm tea with family and in laws. The mani pedi did not end until 12:30pm, or later. She called her MOH to pick her up, but had to walk back to the hotel – shuffle in mani slippers – because the spa had no parking lot of it’s own.

Form there the bride and MOH rushed back to Contemporary for clothing change and makeup. No time for hair! The groom was panicked from constant phone calls – the bride had made it clear to all guests that she would not be answering a phone all week (and glad she did so), and the groom was paying the price.

Off MOH and the bride drove as fast as they could to GF, just a little late for the 2pm tea.

Some of the guests, among which were the bride’s mom, MIL, aunt in law, cousin in laws wife, two grandmas, sister in law (brides side), matron of honor, many had been driven by their menfolk.

After hurredly and forcibly telling the Tea Room hostess to add one to the reservation and that they must be out by 2:45pm in order to make the 3pm wedding rehearsal – this pissed them off good, the bride posed for a picture and forgot to smile!! Lol.

BTW, my brother took these pics and not Angrypenguin :)

After that the Tea Room people managed to successfully serve 9 ladies in 45 min tea and sandwiches. All had a great time, and favors were exchanged afterwards outside of the lounge – the bride had read not to bother trying to do gifting in the lounge.

From there all found their own way (many picked up by their man and transported) to the wedding pavilion for the beautiful rehearsal. Many hugs were exchanged.

Steve, the bride’s friend’s husband, was the minister. He gently said quietly to the bride in private that she had planned a great deal and now it was time to let others do their jobs. The bride laughed and said, “Steve, is that your way of telling me to let go?” to which he replied “no.” But the bride knew this was what he meant and decided he was right. She was glad to have someone else boss around her wedding party, parents, and all and the following day ran perfectly smooth.

Carol Mikles, the gracious and always professional wedding planner, was present also. This was when the bride gave Carol anything for the wedding: programs, some small floral arrangements, the guest “vase.” These items were in a bag the bride was carrying , so MOH let Carol take the whole bag. Luckily, when the bride realized, during family snapshots at the picture point, that she had left her envisalign braces in the bag MOH was able to call Carol’s cell phone to ask her for them back. Carol got a good laugh out of this, and the braces were successfully obtained, since Carol had not gotten far.

The rehearsal ended at 3:30pm. All people present, plus a few extra took their own transportation to Animal Kingdom lodge for the rehearsal dinner – 16 people total – at Boma Restraunt. In good tradition, the bride and groom got distracted at their hotel during the break (dinner starting at 4:50pm) and arrived about 20 min late to their own party.

Thanks!

Last night I was in the mood to write in third person. It was sort of my way of making fun of myself.

Just to warn people: book about 1.25 hours of your time to do the tea room. A traditional English tea is about an hour. What I did really ticked them off. But it couldn't be helped. I'm just glad they were nice about it once we got seated. They couldn't exactly turn away nine women in front of the bride - that would be mortifying for the bride!

It amazes me how far away the spa is from the GF; it is such a trek! I have only been for a massage, but the mani/pedicure sounds wonderful too.

That is pretty impressive that they were able to get you through your tea so quickly. I think mine was about an hour and a half like you mentioned. Isn't it so much fun doing it with a large group of ladies :goodvibes I love the sashes that you had for MOH and yourself, so cute! Great shots with family at picture point too.

Hey everyone! Apologies for the lack of posting, but we've been in Hawaii for the past week! We stayed at the beautiful Marriott Ko Olina beach club, right down the street from Disney's new DVC.

Not much time to post yet, but we did want to share....Randy's preview of our big day! See the slideshow here:

Love the pictures from Hawaii. My DH and I were there exactly a year ago this week on our honeymoon :goodvibes If I remember correctly the two of you were going to Oahu?

Your slideshow from Randy was fantastic too. I love the shots with you two checking the calendar on the phone. So, what did it actually say on it?

Thanks, figment! Yep, we were on Oahu. We stayed on the Southwest tip, at a place called Ko Olina. It's actually the same coast where Disney is building their new DVC; we saw the construction down the street!

The whole coast there has 4 man-made lagoons; Marriott has a hotel on lagoon 1, and we were on lagoon 3. I believe the DVC is going up right at lagoon 2, if I'm not mistaken.

Hi all!
I've been quiet on the boards lately! We have had such an amazing time in Hawaii. Things have been busy in the home front too - lots of life events going on.

I think I am the only DisBride on the boards who has the luxury of a DH doing her posting for her. :lmao:

We are looking forward to getting more wedding pictures this week, from Randy, and may end up waiting for those to do our wedding day post.

Hey PBP! I can't speak for the hotel, as my parents graciously allowed us to trade their timeshare for the Ko Olina resort, but I believe it runs anywhere from 300-650/night. I know there are a lot of deals out there for the bigger resorts near Honolulu/Waikiki, so keep checking!

As for normal expenses, I would say restaurants and so forth are pretty standard. Museums and other attractions aren't super expensive either, no more than anywhere else a tourist would go. I got a deal on the rental car using priceline, so I don't think it's that much more expensive than any other normal vacation. Plus, it keeps us in the U.S., which is great. However, flying to Hawaii from the east coast can get fairly pricey I think (I haven't checked). It's easier for us simply because Los Angeles is the last main airport in CONUS that can go direct, so flights are more reasonable.

Big Day morning, part 1:

So I wasn’t sure if I was going to be nervous the night before the wedding. You hear about the stories all the time, how the groom couldn’t sleep the night before, etc. etc., but I was sure it wouldn’t be me. It’s not like I was meeting this random girl for the first time as part of an arranged marriage; we’d been together for over five years.

I spent the night in the room next door, my best man’s room. We putzed around and talked for several hours, but he finally conked out around 1 a.m. I was a little nervous, since I knew Randy was going to show up at the girl’s room around 7:45 and hop on over a little later to grab pictures. So I tried sleeping, and just laid there like a potato for about an hour. Then I took out my iPhone and surfed the internet. Then I laid there some more. Then I took out my iPhone again and watched an episode of “The West Wing.” Then I tried turning around, and laid there like an overturned potato. Then I got up and sat on the balcony over looking Bay Lake for a bit. Fun fact: cast members clear out the trash around the resort around 3:30 a.m. in the night. They drive around one of those little carts with the flashing light.

Somewhere around 4-4:30 I finally dozed off, and then around 6 a.m. my eyes shot open. Time to get a move on!

My buddy got up as well, and grabbed me some coffee and a bagel. The coffee turned out not to be a great idea, because while I was worried I only got as much sleep as, well, something that doesn’t sleep much I suppose, the adrenaline of the day kept me going. Add to that the coffee, and I was twitching more than a meth addict with tourettes.

After getting dressed, and looking quite dapper, I ran to the bathroom to utilize the crapper. Wait, that’s not right. On a semi-serious note, I did have this fear that we’d be at the altar, and I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on everything happening because I’d have to pee really bad. I’ve affectionally coined this feeling as “micturitionphobia”

Randy came over and we took some snaps, and around 8:45 a.m. my BM and I headed out the door down to the lobby to catch our limo to the Grand Floridian. Was I nervous? Sure. I felt even more self conscious because the entire population of the Contemporary Resort stared at us as we walked, probably whispering “look at those crazy people in tuxes. How do they expect to walk around Epcot like that?”

I grabbed a bottle of water in the limo and sipped it on the way to the GF, with a goal of hydrating myself just enough not to fall over (remember: fear of peeing). Once we got to the GF, we were met by one of Carol’s assistants. Since I’m terrible with names, I’ll just call her DINO for Diligent Instigator of Nuptial Organization.

DINO greeted us and announced through her secret-service like walkie talkie that the groom had arrived, and let us know that my parental units were wandering around the GF lobby somewhere. They finally stopped by and we had hugs all around. Randy showed up and snapped a few more pictures, while I nervously waited for the day to really begin. I’d always imagined I’d be bouncing up and down and a be a nervous wreck on my wedding day, and while I was anxious, I wasn’t nearly as nervous as I anticipated. Sure, lots of people would be staring at us, but lots of people stare at me due to my chiseled physique anyway, so that wasn’t new. After all, I was marrying a beautiful girl that was also my closest friend; a girl who rubs my head to calm me down and make me feel better, a girl who lets me stand in line for 9 hours at the Apple store to buy a stupid phone and still loves me anyway. I was ready to go, let’s do it!

Yeah, the flight from Florida to Texas to Hawaii is fairly pricey. The Ko Olina Marriott really isn't too bad though. I'm seriously considering it because it looks gorgeous and it's the best of both worlds - beach and cultural/historical/attraction stuff. I was previously looking at the Dominican Republic and all there really is there is Beach. Plus my parents honeymooned in Hawaii so I think that would make it special too. My mom at lobster every single night of her honeymoon in Hawaii :lmao:

First I have to say that our wedding was absolutely perfect. There were some minor things off, that I was surprised Disney forgot, but I didn't even realize they were wrong until my head cleared of bridal bliss 2 days later.

_______

You know all wedding planning books say not to wash your hair less than 24 hours before the wedding. But with all of the running around we had been doing, at about 11pm the night before I was dreading the idea of my hair being greasy in wedding pictures! Since I moved to Los Angeles, I've become much more conscious of hair, makeup, and clothes. This might sound shallow, but it’s difficult not to change a little from this crazy place! Anyway, I hit the shower convincing myself in my bridal madness that somehow it is possible to just wash the top part of one’s head.

The next day I crawled out of bed at 6am with my squeaky clean hair and had a bowl of cereal. MOH slept in the room with me – oh and our room was amazing – so we opened the blinds and welcomed beloved Patricia into the room at 6:30am. She had a big rolling makeup kit with her, most of which she wouldn’t need as I was doing airbrush and hair, and my MOH and mom were just getting hair.

Mom arrived next, all twittering with excitement. I didn’t have much to say, as I was all business and about sticking to the minute-by-minute schedule DH and I had given to our wedding party and families. Disney floral arrived and had me close my eyes so my mom could ooh and ahh over the bouquet, then they had her hand it to me and open my eyes. We took a picture on someone’s camera, probably MOH’s, and haven’t seen it yet.

We stuck mom in the chair to get her out of there ASAP so that she could go back to Polynesian, from Contemporary, to get dressed. MOH sat on the stool while we thought my mom was going back to the hotel, and then it happened…my mom came into the room saying she didn’t like her hair, because my dad said she looked 70!! Who says that?!

Of the 6:30 – 8:40 getting ready time, MOH probably took 15 or 20 min. I knew from my trial that I needed an hour at minimum for hair and make up. It was already 7:30. My hair was set, but I new that I would still need an hour, and that didn’t even include time to get my dress on. I was panicked. Ugh!!! I am going to do my best on my daughter’s wedding day to remember that it is HER day and I need to be careful not to hog all the get-ready time. DH will have to remind me maybe, but I’m not letting that one be me.

I told my mother sternly that she had to be done by 7:50 and her time was up, and it was very embarrassing to have Patricia and Randy, who had come for getting ready pictures sometime during the whole mom debacle, see me like that. Patricia later told me she was grateful I said it. So my mom was done by 7:50 am and I was in the chair immediately – airbrush make up first, then hair. We weren’t done until 8:40am. MOH and Patricia had to help me get dressed in less than 5 minutes, which meant I didn’t even have a chance to check a mirror to see if I looked right. I had also arranged to buy a lip gloss from Patricia to touch up my color, and forgot it. I think it would have enhanced all of our pictures if I had had gloss on – it wears off so fast! My mom never apologized for the rush she put me in, and I’m still bitter about it when I think about it. Maybe she has no idea. But don’t get me wrong, I don’t think about it regularly, it’s just when I’m writing this. To add insult to injury, my parents didn’t even give us a wedding card, and we paid for the wedding ourselves.

Okay, done ranting…on to happier things.

So the original plan was for the parents to meet us a GF lobby for pre-ceremony pictures. MOH and I got in the limo and stopped to pick up the grandmas and my parents at Poly (another delay), but since we were behind schedule I sent my parents off to WP with my grandmothers in the limo, once MOH and I got out at GF. As soon as we stepped out and walked away, MOH said she felt so much tension melt away from me. She had to remind me that I was Cinderella to all the little girls in GF lobby, and to smile. This was not only was a perfectly beautiful reprimand, it made me smile!

I have to say: I love GF lobby, Victorian is my fantasy style.

So while I thought DH would not understand the romance of “the reveal” that Randy was setting up, I had underestimated the sentiment a man feels on his wedding day. It was so heart warming to walk out to the patio behind the lobby and see my groom sitting nervously waiting. I wanted to run to him, but Randy told me where to stand and then had DH turn around. It was timeless!

From there we had an amazing time taking serious, silly, sassy, and artistic pictures. Randy did an amazing job!

Afterwards we were whisked away with MOH and BM to WP. We walked up to the pavilion together (guests inside) and parted. I went to the bridal vestibule and I THINK he went to the groom’s.

When I went to the bridal vestibule I immediately had to pee. Those stories of brides having their MOH hold their dress up while they pee always made me think I would be mortified to have someone in the stall with me, but I found an alternate pee-ing method.
I lifted up my dress, scooted my panties to the side, and when straight toward the toilet, no turning around! This made MOH and I both giggle as she stood behind me holding the back of the dress. But I still couldn’t pee! That’s when MOH randomly started singing a song about peeing. Hahahahaha. With the reassurance that she wouldn’t be focusing on the sound of my tinkle, I peed. This became our peeing method the rest of the day – and since I was constantly drinking water and tea, I had to pee at least 5 times.

Randy took some pictures of us waiting in the little room, and the music in the WP was piped into the room too –fun.

After this, MOH went to get in line to walk into the ceremony. I became very nervous. Like run and hide nervous. I should mention that my WP put my dad in the room with me too, and his very presence tends to set me off in anger. So I was singing to myself and looking in the mirror so that I could ignore him and my own nerves.

Finally the music and Carol let me know it was time to walk down the isle. My dad was as cute as a little boy – all bouncy to do his special job. I found the mirrors between the entrance to WP and the doors to the chapel very useful – I checked my posture and my bouquet placement, as well as reminded my dad to mind my dress. Then in we went!

I couldn’t look around too much, I just focused on DH. He was so handsome and looked so happy! My dad handed me off and we were on with the show!

I think this is a good point to stop and let DH describe where he went and what he was feeling before, during and after the ceremony.

I promise not to complain in my next post!

THANK YOU FOR READING.

Welcome, lizet!

I just wanted to reiterate that our photographer, Randy Chapman, did a fantastic job capturing the day. Not only that, when we got our proof albums, the bindings were broken, and he made it super easy to swap them out. I highly recommend him, he's fantastic!

I'm so happy with our pictures!

Randy Chapman was amazing and did a great job making sure we got the "look" we wanted. AngryPenguin gets very um...angry :rotfl:....(jk) if his pictures don't look good. Actually he is way to sweet to show his anger to people, but he is really into photography and knew exactly what he wanted.

If every groom has one wedding detail they care about, this would have been his. Although he was very involved in the whole process:love:. Even though sometimes he didn't want to be bc I was crazy. :rotfl2:

Your pictures really are fantastic, Randy never ceases to do a great job! I don't have time to look at all of them now, but am looking forward to seeing all your shots on Flicker.

I love hearing the groom's perspective. I have asked DH on several occasions what he was thinking, but I think he is afraid to admit that he was pretty nervous. His mood is definitely evident in some of our shots though, so he's not fooling me ;)

Crown Princess: I totally understand where you're coming from with your mom, only for me it was MIL. I am still bitter (over a year later!) that we didn't even get a card from her. For goodness sakes you can buy them at the dollar store and DH is her only child! Okay, enough of that, just thought I would tell you that your rant is completely acceptable.

what do your rings say? I noticed that they were..ohcrap..i can't think of the word, but you know what I mean........

It's mandarin, and it's "shing fu," which is a phrase that basically means blessed, or total wealth. So when you say someone has it, it means they have happiness, love, financial stability, the whole package :).

The funny thing is in that picture, Randy put it upside down;), even though I told him what the right side is. Oh well, the pic was still great.

You joke, but actually we DID change our wedding date to accomodate Randy and Patricia LeJeune.

We changed our venue right before our initial contract. In order to get both Randy and Patricia (which I knew I wanted) I called them and picked a Monday in March they were both available. I didn't mind at all. It's a good story so I just thought I would share.

So Crown_princess left off with us at the altar. Our minister (and friend) Steve began the ceremony. I’d articulate on the specifics of the ceremony, but I honestly have no idea what happened. There was some speaking, we held hands, we lit a candle, and bam, we were done.

Me waiting for my bride:

Walking down the aisle

Us doing...something

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3310/3520917257_ded0f4879f.jpg

We did it!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3325/3520919207_5de4e86da6.jpg

One thing I do want to mention; we bought a high def camcorder and had a friend video tape the ceremony for us. He set up at the front toward the left on a tripod, and captured a lot of the great moments. However, one thing he didn’t think of; looking back toward the entrance of the pavilion, he didn’t take into account that when the bride enters, everyone stands up and blocks out your view. So a tip for anyone who has a friend video taping the ceremony, be ready when people stand at the bride entrance :)

We walked down the aisle together as husband and wife, and swung a left to do pictures with the arch:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3625/3521789646_5054a89040.jpg

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3411/3520978821_85821b1de9.jpg

After the pictures, we walked from the pavilion to the bridge to get our awesome staged exit. One thing they don’t tell you is how long the walk is from the pavilion, over the bridge and to the exit point. It’s a little funny how you can see everyone getting ready for the exit, and that they can see you coming for the staged exit, but it takes five minutes to get to the exit point, ruining any feeling of spontaneity that might exist. Still, it made for a great photo opportunity, and we walked (briskly!) through our receiving line and got into the limo. But not without getting a few more photos:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3366/3521734708_cfe2cb1811_b.jpg

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3621/3521002945_27afcf41f4.jpg

In the limo, we took a deep breath, went down the street, sat for a few minutes, then turned back around. Carol and her assistants kept the family held back for some pictures in the pavilion. We took our required pictures with the family, then shooed them away to the reception so we could get to the fun pictures!

We posed for fun pictures in the pavilion, and as we really made pictures the priority, we went down to the beach area and snapped a bunch of pictures as well. We got some great ones with Julie throwing her veil around in the wind, and at one point while posing, we got visited by a couple of ducks! They walked up right next to us ;)

We took pictures for about an hour, before it was decided that it was time for us to make an appearance at the reception. We made our way to the Contemporary, where one of Carol’s assistants was sitting out front to meet us. We took the private elevator to the California Grill.
Everyone was waiting inside the Napa room, while we took a moment to ourselves outside in the main restaurant, taking a drink of water and having a quick potty break. Coincidentally, we met a California Grill CM that was working our wedding who was from my home town in Michigan! What are the chances of that?

Steve, our minister and friend began the announcements, and we got to see our reception event for the first time. The room was beautiful! This is Julie’s reaction to seeing our cake:

Our menu cards:

Our guests nibbled on the cheese platter while we took pictures, and after we sat, we were finally able to get some food. First on the docket, goat cheese ravioli!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3544/3521068789_2b5362e435.jpg

We got great feedback on this; people loved the ravioli. It was very flavorful, the tomato wasn’t overpowering, but I personally found the goat cheese a little strong.

Next up, the fillet:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3643/3521069951_9e014cee0b.jpg

More than a few of our guests came up to us and raved about how tender and delicious the steak was. I have to agree, it was cooked beautifully :thumbsup2. I'm a foodie too, so I was very happy with the way the fillet turned out. When I was able to eat it, that is. Everyone kept coming up to talk to us, it took us forever to finish off the food!

And, of course, Cinderella's slipper :)

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3368/3521076329_8b19f4fb4b_b.jpg

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3568/3521903894_ece7c98fdc.jpg

We fought for awhile on whether to include the slipper or not, but I definitely wanted it because it just screamed "Disney", and I knew everyone would get a huge kick out of it. Needless to say, it didn't disappoint, as we gleefully watched people's reactions when the slipper was served. Lots of gasping, oohs and ahhhs, and camera flashes starting appearing! :thumbsup2

Coming up next: finishing up the reception, and are we really going to ride the monorail in our wedding attire?

Wow, I just read all 32 pages. I can't believe I didn't see this sooner! We are wedding twins- I am having mine at the WP and CG, too! AND I am in the process of getting veneers on my 2 front teeth (well, 1 crown w/ porcelain and a matching porcelain veneer). And my wedding is pink, lol!

I love everything and it is wonderful to hear the groom's perspective as well.

Your wedding pictures are gorgeous and your TR is so much fun to read!

I am SO glad you loved the food at CG. It's hard to figure a menu without a tasting, I hate that about CG.

Did you do a prereception? Do you have any advice regarding the food choices?

Your fireworks pics are amazing, too!

Thanks so much for sharing!

We are totally wedding twins!
Funny how Dis makes the prereception sound like a separate event. Basically they just have people go to the reception location and eat food and drink from your bar package. Then when you show up you get a little of the pre-reception time to taste leftovers from that, and they start the reception.

The food that they are eating before you get there is basically what a pre-reception is.

We did the cheese platter - which was really a cheese bar since it wasn't served individually. Our guests all liked at least a couple of the cheeses that were served, and I liked them all....because I love cheese!
Note: you don't really get much time to taste stuff from your pre-reception. We specifically asked when we got to CG for the server to bring us a plate with all the cheeses and pairings, so we could pick at it. But we were so excited the whole day that we didn't eat more than half of anything served. I didn't eat any of the dessert party. But everyone loved it.

AP, do you have a picture you can post of the cheese? MUAH

So our reception continued, and I started getting nervous about our first dance. I, like many of the male species, refuse to dance out of fear of ridicule. However, Crown_Princess was fairly adamant about having a “proper” first dance, and two days prior, my parents came to our hotel room and taught us to properly do the Box Step. We picked our song, (“How You Live”, by Point of Grace), and Julie and I practiced the night before while the best man and MOH watched us and mocked me silently with their eyes. I must say though, after an hour or two, I started to actually look like I knew what I was doing.

Before the dances though, were the speeches. The MOH and Best man gave lovely speeches:

Julie’s father had a few quaint words to say:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3647/3521098555_55ab750718.jpg

Not to be outdone, my father prepared a very long soliloquy. I believe he recited “The Odyssey” in its entirety somewhere in his speech. It was loooooong. We started to squirm at one point. But ah, we love him.

The obligatory slide-show (put together by my friend Alex) was then shown, who did a fantastic slideshow. One of the best ones I’ve seen.

Next, dancing time!

We hooked up the iPod (old school iPod Mini, hurrah!)

I’d like to take a break here for a second and give a few tips for you all getting married. First of all, try not to pick a five minute song. When everyone’s staring at you, that five minute song transforms into a fifteen minute song and it begins to feel redundant. Second, if you’re in the Napa Room, Disney will pipe in the house music, which is actually very nice. We had our own playlist all ready on the iPod, and while it was nice, I found that the house music seemed perfectly acceptable.

After all the dancing and fun, people mingled and we wandered out to the balcony to take a few photos.

She sees a handsome man.

By this point, things were wrapping up, and Crown_Princess needed to address everyone to make sure everyone knew the bus schedule for the dessert party that evening.

As people were leaving, Randy came over and asked if we wanted to do an extra session at the Grand Floridian, since we ran out of time that morning and didn’t get a chance to do any inside shots. This was really kind of him; technically his time was up with us, but he wanted us to have the best shoot possible. Unfortunately, our limo time had run out, so we didn’t have a quick way of getting there except the monorail, and we were a bit uneasy riding the monorail in our wedding attire. However, a shoot at the GF was too good to pass up, so we sucked it up and dealt with the odd stares from people as we walked through the contemporary, rode the escalator, and got in line for the monorail.

While waiting in line, a nice CM asked if we wanted to ride in front, to which we replied quickly agreed to. Things got even better, because as we pulled into the GF, Randy was waiting at the monorail station to greet us. We waved to him as we were pulling in, and once he saw we were at the front, rushed to the door to try to get a few snaps of us. Turns out, he didn’t need to rush. The monorail driver graciously allowed him to get into the front with us, and actually held up the train for us while we spent a good five to ten minutes getting shots! We stepped out, and they held the train for us even longer to get even more shots in front of the monorail. How cool is that? People continued to stare at us as Randy snapped away; we felt like Jon and Kate Gosselin, only without the infidelity rumors, tabloid press, and gaggle of children following us around.

This is what happens when you let me drive.

My DH was super nervous about our dance too, so I can definitely sympathize. He has a pained look on his face through most of it in our video since he was concentrating so much. Probably a good plan to stick with the basics like the box step. I made him go through dance lessons and we had the whole thing choreographed which just added to his stress over it :rotfl: I love the pictures from your reception, that is such a wonderful venue. The shots of the monorail are awesome! That is so cool that Randy was willing to take the extra time at the GF plus the monorail shots are so Disney! Out of curiosity if you don't mind sharing, did Disney charge very much for the projector?

Yikes, I don't think I could deal with a choreographed dance. I originally just wanted to do the "hold each other and sway" thing, but Crown_Princess kept saying "that's so high school!" :lmao:

Congratulations on your recent wedding! I hope you guys have been having a blast as a married couple!

I just found and read your entire planning journal today. It's amazing! And I'm so excited (and just a teeny bit creeped out) that we could practically be wedding twins!

We're also having a Wedding Pavilion ceremony and a Napa Room reception. No dessert party because we're having an evening wedding and we'll be at the CG for the Wishes display.

It is so exciting to finally see photos of that room decorated. And you guys apparently have very similar tastes to ours - even down to the font on your printed materials :rotfl:

So, thanks a TON, for sharing your story and your photos! I will probably be visiting your Flickr site a thousand times between now and our planning session . . . CONGRATS again, you guys look like a really nice and fun couple!

Hey Kevin, I told you I was going to read your entire journal and I just finished it. Looks and sounds like you guys had a great wedding. If my DW and I had it to do over again, we would definitely go the Disney Wedding route. Love all the pictures, especially those of the monorail and at the GF. We only had a pro photographer at our wedding ceremony, not at our reception which, looking back, was a big mistake. We put a disposable camera on each guest table at the reception and you should see some of the ridiculous stuff we got back :scared1:!

Anyway, thanks for sharing!

We thought about the disposable camera idea, but looking around I think we had 3 guests with DSLRs and everyone else had their own cameras.

You know, Disney Wedding DOES do Vow Renewals....just food for thought :). Might cut into the camera budget a bit though:thumbsup2

I just want to say that I am very touched by the number of people who read and post on our journal.

I feel like I owe an explanation for my absence: I work about 10 hours a day on a computer but am too busy to surf the internet and by the time I get home my eyes are too tired and sore to look at a monitor. DH never seems to have this eye problem (we think it is because he has anti-glare on his glasses and I don't wear glasses) so, bless him, he posts for me. ;):lovestruc

Yes, that's right, I have finally delegated some time to sit and write of our wedding day. As you've read, it was a day which dreams were made of, and the magic continued on at our dessert party.

After pictures with Randy, DF and I rode the monorail back to Contemporary. I highly recommend staying on the monorail for your wedding week as it adds convenience. People looked at us funny as we stood in our wedding attire looking exhausted, waiting for the tram. We boarded a car and stood up. The following conversation was very memorable.

13yr ish old girl to boy: "ooh..I like her dress. Would you want to get married at Disney?"
Boy: "I don't want to get married."
Girl: " I want to get married and have a big family. I want a big wedding but I don't want to get married at Disney."

At this point DF and I were trying to pretend that we didn't hear any of this and it was not slightly comical (as most teenage conversations are), we stepped off the MR and dragged our feet back to our room.

We came into our room to a cute little bouquet from Disney Floral, thanking us:goodvibes.

MOH and possibly BM had done some romantic damage in our room with putting petals on the bed and dimming the lights. Which was slightly mortifying:rotfl: We'll skip ahead...aaahheeeem:rolleyes1

After a very brief maybe 45min break, which originally was going to be 3 hour break (but who was going to give up extra time with Randy, com’on!), we polished up and headed to the CR lobby to catch our bus to the dessert party.

At the end of the reception I had used my teacher voice to read the bus schedule to everyone, and we were very fortunate everyone heeded our warning that the bus would not go back to their resort. The bus had already gone to several resorts. I think we were the 7:15 pm stop. We boarded and sat in front to great guests as they got on. My big dress and I got our own two seats. Hehe This was also a good opportunity hand out gift bags which had not be been distributed due to their owners not having been seen until the wedding day (most were distributed prior).

DH lovingly announced he wanted to buy me a new Dooney and Burke purse at the Orlando outlet and I out of my drunken bliss (not alcohol induced) made the silly mistake of telling him it wasn’t necessary. But he made up for that mistake later by getting me a DB wallet just recently.:thumbsup2

When the bus completed stopping at the scheduled resorts, it went backstage to Epcot. It was so neat to see the backside of Test Track and other rides. When we got off our bus we had a very friendly greeter who escorted our whole party thru UK to the Lower UK party area. We felt like such celebrities! People cleared out of the way for our whole group and cheered for us like were were a parade. The escort ended up giving us her flashing wand (it was after dark at this point, and it was her equivalent of the tour group leader flag) and we strutted our stuff holding it high.
All our guests laughed the whole way.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3397/3522441366_b1a847b063_b.jpg

We got to LUK and oohed and aahed over the food. I didn’ t eat any because I didn’t want to sugar crash during pictures and I was too busy talking to people and kissing DF during pictures. I had brought zip lock bags for leftovers – Disney’s rule is that you legally are not supposed to take the leftovers because they do not want to be liable for food poisoning. However, if you don’t ask and just take it, and warn your guests that it is at their own risk, you will probably get away with it. So I assumed I would eat a bag of left over treats, but once again I was so into playing hostess that I didn’t get a bag. Tough luck! I will have to hope my daughter gets married at Disney – at her own expense – so that I can get some free dessert party dessert. Lol!

Yummy goodness

Note: if you choose to take the leftovers, please remind your guests on the bus that it is at their own risk. I found out that if someone calls Disney reporting they took leftovers and got sick the helpless person who manned the party can be laid off. So please be responsible.

We had paid probably $3 per flashing LED “ice” cube – one per drink. I didn’t think to have people put their cubes in a bag for me to take home. They probably got disposed off. I sort of regret this. They were also the wrong color. They were supposed to be pink, since the drinks were green. No one noticed and I didn’t even think about it until 48 hours later when the fog of bliss cleared a little.

We had a great time. Don’t expect to see Illuminations during your dessert party pictures. You will be too busy posing. Go some other time while you are there, to get it out of your system. You could even use it as an excuse to kiss your sweetie, “But honey, we have to practice our timing!” hehehe

We boarded the bus and half way to our hotel I felt like I was going to vomit. My dress had finally taken its toll on me. It had to come off, so I unzipped it. I had a wireless bustier underneath, nude color, so my MOH gave me her wrap to wrap around my bust so that the unzipped zipper wouldn’t show. We hustled up to my room.

Unfortunately, the BM had got a call that his Grandfather died a couple days before the wedding. He had been humble enough to try and hide the sadness but he had to scoot out right 3am after our dessert party to go to the viewing.

We stayed up and talked until probably 1am, since his room was next to ours. We talked about all manner of things and others with whom we hadn’t had a good chat with were happy to join in too. Eventually we let him get an hour sleep before his flight, poor guy. Back in our room, we were exhausted so we fell asleep pretty easy.

Up next...it’s the day after our wedding and we are…hanging with DH ‘s parents. Lol! Yes, we showed our respect and go to visit my favorite park: Animal Kingdom! Additionally, I may or may not have petted an alligator.

We had an amazing time. DH wanted to do the dessert party and the Cinderella slipper. Those were his two big things and I think he was definitely right to want them, they were hits with our guests!:thumbsup2

Hey everyone! I guess it’s time to continue the report.

The next morning we woke up and decided to take it easy. Our first day as a married couple felt…exactly the same as our last day as an unmarried couple.

Crown_Princess’s brother and sister in-law were leaving this day, and we had plans for two at Chef Mickeys. So we went down to breakfast (I love me a breakfast buffet!) and asked if we could change our ADRs from two to four. Unfortunately, the hostess (we’ll call her Miss. Snobby Snippypants) insisted that it wasn’t possible, and if we wanted four, we’d have to essentially give up our ADR and waiting in line like everyone else. We decided that we’d take our table, and hopefully the waitress wouldn’t mind that an additional two people would arrive.

Since we were at the Contemporary already, we took our table and went in with Miss Snobby Snippypants. They, of course, seated us at a four seat table (rolleyes) so we called Crown_Princess’s brother and wife and they came and joined us. We enjoyed our breakfast pizza, Mickey waffles, etc., and posed for some pictures with the Disney crew.

Our waittress announced we got married, so everyone waved their towels for us :wizard:

We personally found Minnie a lot more inviting. Maybe Mickey was having an off day or something.

After eating, we went back to our room and finished packing our things. It was time to say good bye to the Contemporary :sad1:. We loved it here, from the wonderful view we had, to the convenience of the monorail, everything was fantastic. Alas, it was time to move on over to the Wilderness Lodge for the next few nights. We gave our things to the bell hop, who would transfer everything over for us, and headed out the door.
By this point, we hadn’t had a lot of time to spend with my parents, so we decided to join them at AK for some fun. It was the first time we were able to relax and go have some fun, so we were looking forward to it! We like AKL, but we find that sometime’s it’s limiting and you’re done fairly early.

We got there, and the banners were very appropriate.

After a few phone calls of “Where are you? Where? Oh. Where are you again?” between myself and my parents, we finally found them near Kilimanjaro Safari. Unfortunately, the Safari had a huge wait at this point (booo!), and my parents had already gone, so we decided to skip it. On the plus side, I had what was probably the most delicious snack I’ve ever had: a Jalapeno cheese soft pretzel. I tried hunting around for one at other places in WDW later, and even here in Downtown Disney in Anaheim, and I still haven’t found another place that makes it. That random pretzel cart in the middle of Animal Kingdom is the only place I’ve found that has it. Therefore, I conclude that I must return to get another one. Or a box of them, if they let me.

Everyone taking a snack break!

My friend Matt was still hanging around a few days after the wedding, so I called him up to join us and my parents as well. We rode the train to Raficki’s planet watch, since we’d never done it before. We probably won’t do it again, as I found planet watch to be a little boring. However, we did stumble upon a CM who had brought out a baby alligator for everyone to pet. Crown_Princess got super excited and lined up right away.

Here she is in line. Notice how she’s the only adult

It’s almost her turn, look at the excitement!

Hooray! She did it!:woohoo:

If you notice, she’s wearing her “just married” pin. The CM actually asked her if she actually got married, or if she just enjoyed wearing it around the parks. This bewildered her (for obvious reasons), and she pointed at me and said no, we just got married yesterday!:confused3

As we left Raficki’s, I glanced at the wall and just found this amusing.

At this point, my parents wanted to wander a bit and Crown_Princess, myself, and our friend Matt wanted to brave Expedition Everest. So we split off, agreeing to meet at the Finding Nemo show in a couple hours.

EE was packed (as usual) and the wait was about 90 minutes, but the three of us decided to go to the Single Rider line. 15 minutes later, we were all on. Booyah!

It’s calling us in the distance

We headed over to Nemo, and took a seat in the nice, cool theater. It had just started to rain a little, so we were glad we had some cover.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, I have to admit, it’s a pretty neat show. Costumes and effects were well done, although it’s weird having a 90 minute movie condensed into about 25 minutes. “Nemo on Speed” is probably a more accurate description.

It’s the school of fish!

We were getting pretty tired, and the park was closing in a few hours, so decided to head out. My parents were staying at a condo off-site, and had a car, so we drove out of the World (gasp!) and went to Bahama Breeze for dinner.

Up next: We move into the Wilderness Lodge, and we visit Hollywood! Well, the fake, clean, and family-friendly Hollywood. The real Hollywood by us is kind of seedy.
