Since I suspect hosts could work from home in VMK, they may work from home for VFK. They may not be paid staff for VFK but just be playing for fun as we do or they may be paid on a part-time basis and will continue with other jobs.

This is what I was thinking...


I have that same problem. It said someone took ForeverWDW already. I ignored it and went on registering like I had never seen it :rotfl: I dont know what will happen but I hope it was just a glitch. I was able to log in and play as a guest.

This happened with my son's account. I signed him up with that name the very first day we could "reserve" our VMK titles...hopefully it is a glitch. :goodvibes

The rooms are cool. Stonehenge is huge...took about a minute to walk across the room. Very detailed. If you're looking for the same look and feel of VMK, this is definitly not it. But I look forward to seeing what else they release as they turn on the other features. It definitly has potential to be a hit as far as online "communities" go....For now, though, it's a beautiful day outside and I have the day off work...

ps - I wonder if they'll eventually let us make our own objects....

Yep I noticed the shadow thing yesterday, it seems once you come to the "edge" of a room, your shadow doesn't show up because there's "nowhere to put it", or at least that's what the game thinks ^^

That's because it's in testing right now. There are lots of bugs and a lot of stuff needs to be fixed and added.

Ok after thousands of refreshes the crossroad came up, with the north
one going to the normal place from yesterday and the other two (left and right)
are blocked off. Plus, when I go to the crossroad place my talking is disabled and

Well I snuck on at work and found Bug!!! Woot. I must say I saw a huge improvement from yesterday. I could see people, see my chat found a new room, All which I could not see or do yesterday. Yes it is very rough but I can see in one day how hard they are working. Might be a slower roll out. That is ok with me. I got my hugs in the game now to me that is what matters.

We are all walking extremely slowly but better than the lag on the last first night of VMK when we were stuck for minutes in one place.

I too agree you can not even begin to judge this game it is only 24 hours new.

I am prepared for the fun ride of this new adventure. And all the funny posts I am reading brings a smile to my face. Some comments are just to cute :)

remember when VMK opened in Beta we thought 600 was a huge number. So they are trying to do what most betas do not by the thousands :)

Blooch, please be patient! This is beta. It's not even a full-fledged game yet, it's in testing. Someone on another board said that as beta testers, we all have to understand that what we're doing is contributing to the game's development. I think that was a very good way to put it. What do we receive in return? Well...beta! ;)

It is in its very, very early phases right now, and from what I've heard, it's about where VMK was when it opened, too. A few rooms and lots of lagging and crashing. VMK had three years to become the place we all knew and loved, and VFK has had all of 24 hours.

Give it some time. I truly believe our patience will pay off and then some!

It's called beta testing, and it's still in the working. You'll get your own
hair, clothes, items, games, less lag, your own room, being able to type,
and the ability to see, a ladder down from buildings :rotfl: all soon.

They put this together in 7 weeks and I think they're doing a great job for
something in such little time.

Plus they have 50,000 players to deal with during beta testing. They're trying
their best and I think they have excellent potential.

Now if the game is not perfect for you when it's 19 hours old then I dunno
what to say, no game is perfect when it's 19 hours old. :)

This is a testing stage. They are probably working on problems instead of worrying about opening up on time or doing updates.
I don't think they really expected so many people to jump into this yesterday and they probably had far more problems than they expected.

You can't yet. They will be adding that stuff later. Hopefully after they get the logging in, seeing people and chat problems fixed.

Whow knows? Maybe they can go the way of Gaia. Have special items that can be bought only with real money (but traded to anyone). They have two monthly collectables that you can purchase for $2.50 each per month. They also have Gaia cash that you can buy and it allows you to buy things in the cash store. There are certain items available only in that particular store (or by trade to anyone) and you can only use Gaia Cash. Or everything in the other Gaia stores can be bought either by gold coins (credits) or by Gaia Cash. They also have a store of real items that can be bought such as t-shirts, pictures, plushies, etc. This generates revenue for them to keep the game free.

It's 24 hours old. I don't understand why people expect it to be a full-featured game like VMK, which had 3 YEARS to develop into what it was (and still had problems even then).

Plus they have 50,000 players to deal with during beta testing. They're trying
their best and I think they have excellent potential.

Now if the game is not perfect for you when it's 19 hours old then I dunno
what to say, no game is perfect when it's 19 hours old. :)

Well I signed my daughter up prior to the opening and when I went in today to register her it said her name was already in use. So now I'm trying to figure out what is going on. I can't believe someone else took her name. So if you see an Angelicasparkle it's not my daughter. I'm trying to come up with another name for her if it will even let me do this. I sent a message to contact us but then finally was able to get my daughter's character in the game. The odd thing is that even though it said the character name was already in use it was actually her user name. I guess because her first name is so common someone else had that name. I just used the first letter of her name and it loaded the game. :)

Okay so now it won't let her back in the game. I'm getting so frustrated with this. I don't know what the problem is because my character has had no problems!!!!

I had to refresh several times, then could talk, I can only see others who come in after me at the moment. But, earlier I could enter a room and see the ppl there. There are so many staff ppl about, I never saw this much staff at VMK.

VFK_Groovy told us that at this time you will only see others that enter a room AFTER you have entered it. They are working to fix that, but what I did was go to a room, start talking, found there were others there but just couldn't see them. Also if you wait in a room a while someone is bound to enter, I was alone for a while they suddenly the room was full of people lol. I have met VFK_Groovy, VFK_Cat, VFK_Panda and VFK_Willa so far!! All the hosts are extremely nice and answer way too many questions lol!! But they said they are having fun and love the game!
Groovy also said they will be adding an Australia area and others too.
Oh on other thing, if you go in a room and can't chat, go back out and come back in, that usually fixes the problem, seems like my chat can't quite keep up with me so I have to go back and get it lol...

Oh my at the beginning of the week I was crying out of lost. Today I am crying tears as I laugh hysterically. Yes it may be a very slow start in VFK but it is so nice to have the laughter back. So nice to be sharing this adventure together well at least on the boards. So for all the lonely people I am sure your get rid of the invisible magic glitch. On the bright side how long did it take you to get invisble in VMK:goodvibes

I couldnt agree with you more, i cried all nite wednesday and all morning thursday and by thursday afternoon because of this game and all the old friends and host in it, and the hysterically funny glitches and everybodys attitudes towards it, i was giggling like crazy and i havent stopped since :) Thank goodness for the wonderful ppl behind vfk :hug:

This may have been discussed already (wow @ the topic length!), but for the people who can talk and see other players- were you Beta 1? I'm looking at the source code and the flash application shows up as a walk demo for me (i signed up for beta2). I'm wondering if they'll add another beta level to the multiplayer game at some point, or if its just luck for which version you end up in.

The similarities to VMK are very interesting. Almost like VMK was the only Virtual World they'd ever seen.

CursedMonkeyQueen and I were in the same room.. its amazing to find friends from VMK! I could talk in the yard finally, but when i logged out and back in I couldn't talk. I feel bad for the developers I'm sure they are under pressure to fix things fast. I saw someone from pre-beta days and she said the friends list didn't work then either.

If you can get yourself to talk, it will come up with your title.

Try hitting refresh first. That's how I got it to work. :)

I never got an email confirming registration either, but have had no problem logging in today. :confused3

There has not been emails to confirm registration. I suspect they are too busy with all the problems to get that set up. What does it do when you go to the play now? Should send you to the log in page where you enter your user name and your password, then enter the [Submit Query]. It will then send you into the game. Now notice that is says username, not character name. When you registered, did you by chance choice a different user name than your character name? Or maybe you have a different password then what you are typing now? If you don't type in the correct information that you used when you register, it just kicks you right back to the blank log in page, it doesn't give you a message that tells you aren't recognized.

You are having trouble with one of the beta bugs. Sometimes when you log in you can't see anyone else. I don't know if we are sent to like a different instance (like in vmk north-east) that is empty, or if the information is just not showing up in your files. I suspect the later since even if I stay on when this happens, nobody ever shows up. Just keep trying, log on again. Usually if I can see my own chat, then I know I have a chance that I might be able to see other people. If I can't, then I hit refresh and log in again. and again.

Tigger, I'm so sorry. Somewhere the information you preregistered with and what you are using now doesn't match exactly. Did you by chance use a different email than you normal do? Since back when we did it, the preregister screen never confirmed what you typed in, you might have done a typo then, and now that you are doing it right it doesn't match :-(
I sure that the *hopefully-not-black-hole* will eventually be able to get you corrected, but they have so many problems that it might be awhile. Rats! So sorry!

I was just able to find my way to Stonehenge (go through the villiage, strait past Merlins, and make a left on the green instead of going into the palace grounds gate.

Now I need the Spinal Tap quest to open so I can get the required outfit for the room ;)

Ok did you register again. it says sign in or register try register again might work. I had one character I signed in with the same first name and same password. For my hubby. I was able to change the sign in info this way. So when it says you name I typed in the character name and chartername tyoed in character name again. Give that a try.

Anyone ever watch Stargate, you know the episodes where someone would be in another plain of existance? They could see the people but the people couldn't see them. Well, I think we are like that. I am in another plain of existance than the rest of the world is. Sometimes I can see a chat bubble for a moment, other times I can see someone and they can't see me, most of the time I feel like I'm all alone in the world- and a mute at that. Anyone see the stargate that will get me back to populated universe?:rotfl:
