This will be our first time using the dining plan - is the large soda included or only the small soda. I noticed most places have two sizes, one for 2.09 and one for 2.39. Which one can we choose?

Thanks

We were able to get the large sodas last April. We also got ours with no ice and asked for a cup of ice on the side so it wouldnt be watered down. We were also sharing with our two year old so this helped as well for that as he wanted his own cup like ours. lol

For us, it depended on the place. Some places were happy to give us the large and at some, they said it had to be a small.

This is interesting..I guess we will go with the flow of things and be thankful we get a drink:)

We were never told that we could not get the large drink at any counter service place we went to. We ate at: Cosmic Rays, Pizzafari, Backlot Tour, Abc Commisary, and Flame Tree BBQ. We also ate at the Pop Century food court however here we got bottled drinks, we did not try for fountain drinks.
Maybe it depends on what CM you get though as well.

I was told once at Columbia Harbor house that I could only get a small. However every other location I ate at gave me a large.

In January we were always able to get the large. I could understand if it were not a Disney owned restaurant that they can set their own policy, but as I said we had no problem getting the large.

We've gotten both. One place, we ate at twice during our trip. First time, we got a large. Second time, they insisted we could only get a small. :confused3

Thanks for the suggestion about no ice. By the time they add the ice, you get less than half of the volume in soft drink.

We've had the DDP for 3 years. We always asked for large drinks, and have gotten them. :drinking1

At the resort it doesn't matter much as you can get self serve refills anyway.

We always were able to get the large, and I also requested no ice and ice in another cup. This was never a problem anywhere including CHH. Electric Umbrella in Epcot was the only place that had one size, but they had self serve drinks with free refills.

I have 2 questions about drinks on the DDP

1)Do you not get refills at TS meals?

2) AT some places they offer ligh-up clips for children's drinks like Pirate Punch can the DD get those on the DDp?:wizard:

Yes, TS we always received refills on our soft drinks but NO to the light up drinks. You must pay OOP.

So at TS if you get refills what is the big deal? I understand at CS meals needing more to drink. I hope in November that will balance out. We will bring in our own water bottles to keep filled while in the park; do they allow this?

We were able to get a large at every restaurant. The cup they gave us at Columbia Harbor House was huge. It looked like an extra large.

:lovestruc When we dined at Table Service there was a couple of times we got refills and didn't drink much out of it so we asked if we could take our drinks with us.

Typically at counter service we get bottled water and take the rest with us

So Bottled Water is a drink option at CS while on the plan?

Yes you can get bottled water at CS on the dining plan. You can not get any specialty drinks at TS using the dining plan. Although some have gotten milkshakes and smoothies. You can get free refills at TS meals as well however some places that have allowed milkshakes and smoothies do not usually allow free refills of these. Some have said that they were able to switch to soda but do not expect this as they do not always let you.

yes, and if they offer 2 sizes of bottled water we have always been able to get the larger one. (Approx. 16oz. size?)

Hi ya Pooch! Alas poor Yorick, I knew him well. :lmao:

It will not work with iced tea to ask for it without ice and then get a cup of ice as the tea is brewed and is hot then put over ice cubes to make it cold. I know, I tried. ;)

I go to WDW several times a year and have used the DDP at least twice a year since they started it, including this year. We have always been able to get the specialty drinks (as long as they are nonalcoholic). I've had milkshakes and smoothies at Konas, Le Cellier, 50's Prime Time, WCC and nonalcoholic daquiris at Flying Fish and California Grill. Refills have not been included (except at WCC), but we have never had a problem with them being on included on the DDP.

to answer the OP question: the only place we've not been allowed a large drink is at the bakery in France. They would only allow a small.

You were lucky than or else we were unlucky as we were not able to get any drink other than soda, juice or coffee on the dining plan at any of the restaurants we ate at last April. From reading the boards I think it depends on the server that you get. Others on the boards have said that they had no problem getting shakes at Sci- Fi this was not the case for us. We were told that only soda or juice was available on the dining plan. Others have also said that they could get a shake but it had to count as their dessert. So be sure to always ask what is included before ordering.
