So, I requested more info from that site and received my email to sign up for beta test! Woot! This site looks interesting, if you like wizards and dragons and Harry Potter! You can only request info from that link, btw. The link in my email goes into far more detail and I'm impressed, so far. They are shooting for a third quarter 2008 launch, it's been in production for 3 years and they promise a safe 3-D MMORP environment geared to teens and 'tweens. It also looks like it may be a pay-to-play game, but time will tell. The beta testing is free.

I love the graphics. And there is a ton of info on the developers and game stuff when you get to the "Sign up for Beta" email.

Another game of my daughters launched on the Today show this morning. I am not so happy with this one. It is for the WII. Called Championship Eating or something like that.

You dont have to do it, I believe they are trying to get as much video driver information as possible.

Krazy: Most graphics intense games looking for Beta testers require your pc info so they can determine if there are conflicts with certain software or if the trouble is with their software. No worries, they don't have access to anything but the software specs.

Performing a dxdiag isn't really too much of a big thing, Most games actually do this anyways while playing. For example, If you play "Pirates Online" and the game crashed it goes into a debug screen web page. This debug web page automatically captures your "Direct X Diagnostic (dxdiag)" information automatically so when you send in the debug report they can tell if your graphics card is supported by them. The dxdiag tool actually checks two aspects of your system (1) Video Card and (2) Sound Card. The online game company will capture this information to see if your video card and sound card can support their gaming system possibly before you signup for beta, if you don't meet their requirements they may have an automated process or script that checks the XML file to determine whether or not you meet their needs for a beta user. If you don't meet the video card and sound card requirements then you cannot be a beta tester, if you meet those requirements then they probably send the email saying your no a waiting list or can become a beta tester. Hopefully, Some of this information helps and running a "dxdiag" is pretty typical for online gaming companies...

Hey, Cat! I did the download yesterday afternoon and created my avatar. Her name is Fiona StarDust. heh No Mimi! Eeek! I did a few of the quests and failed miserably fighting the skeleton pirates...I'm not sure how to do much there, I really didn't spend much time exploring it yet. I am assuming the same, sort of. I think what they are doing is using a test group of different versions of software to see if their game works on all pc's.

I used my Hotmail account. I did get the same email, but a few days later, they sent the login email.
I just wish I had more time to devote to this game. I do like the graphics, especially the magic spells. In the short time I did play, I noticed hanging out with friends isn't going to really happen. At this point, you are not able to sit or dance or openly chat. It seems it's mostly about gaining power levels and magic spells. I do like having quests, but it's not going to be a replacement for VMK or SW, imo. I don't think younger kids will grasp all of the information you have to learn for the magic spells, so it won't be much of a family game, either. Definitely a teen game.
Anyway, hope the rest of you get to try it out. I'd like to know some of your opinions. :)

Sure! Just thought I'd add...I would have taken more screenies of the battle, but I got the Skeleton Pirate on the first spell and really wasn't ready to take on another battle, but the animations and graphics are awesome!

I'm not sure what is up with that email. I just received it too. :confused3 The only problem with that is that I have been a playing member since June 18th, when I received my acceptance letter. :rotfl2:

For real! I could use some help over in Firecat Alley! Btw, does Wormguts have that firecat alley book? I've beaten him three times, lost to him two times, and getting mighty tired of him! I also need to beat that banshee and the main fire elf in there too! I know I've mentioned this already....but I really hate this

Briar- and anyone else who is interested. The first email you got saying that they did not have room yet, and you would be admitted later, was a mistake. Bob and I and all of us who are already playing got that one, arg!

The next email that we got is true. The are shutting the game down to restructure and I guess we will all see what that is like when it happens.

It is after all Beta. So I guess we can expect changes from time to time. :hug:
