Hey there all- I am hosting my first Collective Shoot over on Nikon Cafe'- it is Collective Shoot #85 - Things with Wings (http://www.nikoncafe.com/vforums/showthread.php?t=169023). I know several DIS'rs who are also NC'rs- and if not yet then here is your big chance to join. :cool2:

The topic will be “Things with Wings.” This could be Birds, or Bugs, maybe an Aircraft, or maybe even a Hockey Player or two if you are lucky enough to be going to a Stanley Cup game during the contest period. Since it is a long weekend here in the States the shoot will run for 72 hours, beginning at 12:01 am Saturday May 24th and run until midnight on Monday May 26th. Begin posting images at your convenience.

Please share up to 3 medium size images.

Be Creative- and Enjoy!

So I hope to see some of you all participating over the Holiday Weekend. :thumbsup2 Feel free to post them there and here. And for you non-Nikon folks or if you just don't want to join over there then just post some pictures over here! I would love to see them!

At last, I have a valid excuse to give my wife for eating lunch at Hooters tomorrow.:rolleyes1

....just kidding. I think it would be better for me to stick with my original plan and shoot at the zoo this weekend.

DH recently bought me a new 2.8 lens, so I have been practicing with it on the birds that come to the feeders on our deck. These are all cropped.

DH spotted this scarlet tanager this morning when he was fishing so he called me...luckily he hung around long enough for me to grab my camera and get to DH's fishing spot before flying off. I haven't seen one in several years so I was pretty excited to be able to get some pictures of one.

Nice shots Jeanne, I've never seen one here in NH, looking in my bird book they are on the decline and need large areas of unbroken hardwood forest. Great catch :thumbsup2

We built a bluebird box last year, and this year we got some inhabitants:) . The babies literally just "flew-the-coop" last week. We have been feeding them mealworms periodically, which they absolutely love. Yesterday, I was able to catch a few pics of them. They are getting bolder and allowing me to get close to them when they eat.

Those are all great shots, you did a nice job shooting them. I like this Hawk in the picture, it's an American Kestrel very small and colorful. Been trying to shoot some at the wildlife preserve near me but they are pretty camera shy and fly off. Nice job.

yekim loved your last "water lily" shot espc..wings or not:rotfl:

don't know if these are technically wings or not but they look like they are flying and they flap..taking these are the bane of my existence since the tent they are under is blue and really dark inside so give off a really strange lightbut with these little bright white lights that cause odd reflections and spots on the waves...maybe next yr i'll have a wider angle low light lens that can get the whole animal, er fish er whatever they are.
