It was 42 degrees this morning but I refuse to burn any more oil! Is anyone else walking around with a steaming mug of {{insert hot beverage here}} and a heavy blanket over their shoulders? I swear I can see my breath!

Spring, where are you?!!!!!

Our temps are still in the 30's every morning. We really don't plant until the last days of May.

I had to turn mine on for a short while a day or two ago. Not long enough to heat up the house just long enough to get the chill out. I don't ever remember turning it on this late.

I gave in a turned it back on yesterday. I could not stand the chill any longer. It ran again this morning. I am so sick of this weather. I am glad that I am not the only one. Propane company is just waiting for my next call.

Mine is on. I'm freezing!

I am too, but I refuse to fire up the pellet stove again this year. I'm done with heat. We're just putting sweatshirts on and dealing with it.

WOW! I have had to turn my AC on 2 times this year. I have it set at 81 right now, so it does not come on too much. It is a little chilly in my tank top this morning, but it will warm up. The highs are the early 80"s this week. :cool1: :dance3:

Sorry!

We've been running the AC for weeks.

05-22-2008, 06:33 AM
We flip back and forth..during the day the AC is on, but it does not kick on often and at night we turn the heat back on. It seems if there is the slightest chill in the air when the girls are sleeping they both wake up all snotty and coughing. It may not be that, but it sure is coincidental..:goodvibes

Our heat has been off since March but it is so cold I am using a space heater right now. We have also been building fires. Come 'on summer.

Well, two days ago, May 20, I HAD to put on my furnance here in Delaware. It was just so darn cold.

Whatever happen to global warming??

Mine is still on as well. I hate that it is on, but once I can't feel my fingers and layers won't work, and my nose is running I have to break down and turn the furnace back on. I will make up for it by not using the AC in June. I guess I can also make up for it in the non use of pool filter--it is too cold to even think about having that sucker opened in time fo rthe holiday weekend--maybe by July 4th!

Mine should be but I refuse to turn on the heat in May. I just got my Central Hudson bill (gas & electric) and it was half of what the last one was. The next one should be half of this one, I'm trying to keep it that way :)

Not turning mine back on - we turned it off May 1st and will not turn it back on until October 1st. We live in the Boston area and will just keep the down comforters on the bed for a few more days.

I flipped mine on 2 days ago and shut it off later that day. It was down to 61 in the house and it was rainy and very damp.

Here in NJ I had to turn ours on on the 20th. I was cold here all day & dealt with it hoping it would warm up during the day, but by 3:00 it was only 60 in the house....Had to turn it on before the kids got home. The next day it was almost 70 outside...I had the windows open!!??!!
Just wish it would make up it's mind!!

Ours has been kicking on at night all week. It is set on 60. I hate to pay more to the gas company but it is sooooo hard to get the kids out of bed in the morning when it is cold in the house. I can't believe we have to turn on the heat in May. Crazy.

I really want to know where all this global warming is that they talk so much about!:rotfl:

I'm wondering if this doesn't have to do with all the volcanic eruptions lately. They spew ash into the air that cools down the planet for months at a time.

I won't turn ours on after 4/15...I absolutely refuse to. We do have a gas fireplace though that I have been running here and there to take the chill out of the air. I had it on all evening on Tuesday because it was so cold.

At least the weekend is supposed to be nice :cool1:

I don't think it would be such a good idea for me to turn on my furnace. Seeing as we have had highs around 98 at certain points this week, it might get a tad uncomfortable!:rotfl2: I am blowing some heat your way dear friends. Would you pass along a nice gust of cold wind to me?

I have had to have mine on at night for the past 2 weeks!! it SUCKS!! I got pissed this morning when I heard it kick on so I turned if off, we are just going to have to suck it up and wear a sweater!

Come November I have lived here 30 years and can say 2008 has been the most whacky weather year ever!

Spring break = snow on the valley floor (I am at 100 ft elevation).

Just last weekend we hit all time record highs of 100 degrees one day and 99 the next. More impressive is that some of our coatal town hit 103 or higher ON THE BEACH...unheard of!

Today I kicked the furnace on because the kids were shivering. Back to 40-50's and rain.

WaltD4Me
05-22-2008, 09:11 AM
Nope, I refuse to turn the heat on...it's almost Memorial Day for pete's sake! :headache: It's pretty chilly though. I think it only hit 53 yesterday and it was in the low 40's in the morning. I'm sitting here now with sweats on and a blanket on my lap, but I'm not turning the heat on. It's just the principle of the thing.

Two days ago it was in the double digits here and my AC was running on and off all day, with two fans on in the house 24/7. Yesterday it was blustery, but the sun was out, fans on but no AC. Today is perfect weather, but set at 83 degrees for the animals at home, I'm sure the AC will kick on at least once or twice.

Don't be envious. I'd rather be huddling under the covers than sweating like a pig. :rotfl:

We are still running our furnace. Us and the kids could deal with the cold, but my mom who lives with us can't, so we still run it. Thank goodness she helps pay for the heat and electric, because her oxygen machines runs 24/7.

I have a wall-mounted electric heater here at the lake.. (Luckily I'm on the budget plan or the monthly bills while I'm here would kill me..) There are still many nights - and even some very damp and chilly days - when I have to use it.. I keep it around 60 degrees in here, but I'll be glad when I can turn it off till late August/early September.. Of course once the heat goes off, the a/c goes on, but again - with the budget plan it's all very doable.. I pay around $68 a month - and that includes my DD's travel trailer running off of my electricty on a continual basis from April to October - and my DD's in-law's when they come up in their camper van for the weekend..

I'm another Michigander and YES! This morning (every morning) I turn the furnace on when I get up. Only for a few hours and then I shut it off. I shouldn't though...it's not that cold. I could wear more clothes but my hands are frozen! Won't last too much longer though. I hope anyway.

Our's kicked on this morning.

Knowing Michigan weather I'll be running my a/c next week.

Switched the heat pump from "heat" to "A/C" the beginning of April, but had to use a small space heater in the bathroom a couple of mornings through mid-April. Very unusual!

Two days ago we were seriously flirting with 110 degrees (109 was forecast, but think we topped out at 108); tomorrow it's supposed to be 73 degrees! *eek* Good news is it's supposed to be in the 80s to low 90s over Memorial Day weekend. That's unusual--it's usually 100+ degrees!

I agree with the PP who said it's been the wackiest weather year for the past 30 years--which is how long I've lived here! *LOL*

I have a turtle neck on under my sweatshirt. Broke down and turned the heat on this morning for maybe 1/2 hour to get the house up to 60 then turned it off. Thankfully the sun came out today and the upstairs is comfortable. But I hear 78 come Monday in NE Ohio:cool1:

I had to turn it on Tuesday just to take the chill out of the house when I got home from work. My poor cat's ears and paw's were freezing. It's crazy!!! It's off now, we just have been bundling up!!

Illinois has been chilly too! The temp dropped 10 deg in one hour this afternoon. All the kids came inside because they were freezing. Oh, I hope we don't get another frost warning - my plants can't take this anymore. We haven't planted our vegetable garden yet because it's been so cold!:flower3:

MN here - last week we finally shut off all of our heating systems. Last night it dipped back down in the 40's!! My DH lit a fire in the fireplace to take the chill off. I don't ever remember heating well into June like this. On the flip side my friend in NYC is sweating, and still of the occasional snow storm in Montana! WHEW! :confused3
