I think I may need to download the whole thing -
Can't tell you the last time I got every song -
Maybe the last was Mika?

God, I hope she gets airplay.

Well anyway - All hail :worship: Donna Summer

 What did she do?
Do I want to know? :sad2:

I believe there was a whole "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Stave" and "Aids is God's curse thing". It was years ago. Not sure if she actually said something or if it's urban legend....

Guess we need to Google our gal!

wikipedia-
A more painful incident came in the early 1980s with reports that Summer had made anti-gay remarks associated with the AIDS epidemic. Her songs were banned for a number of years in some gay establishments over these rumors, the fallout from which had a huge negative impact on her career. Summer's records were even being sent back to her record company by outraged fans in protest. Summer has long denied such allegations, claiming that she was misquoted and she finally took legal action against a newspaper which reprinted the rumors during a review of a concert. Summer tearfully stated, "I never said anything that was written about me in that article". Summer has headlined for AIDS benefits and has donated proceeds to AIDS research. As recently as 2006, she was asked about the rumors by a Canadian newspaper. "So many people in my audiences are gay. I can’t live my life trying to assure people of anything. You have to live knowing who you are. I think that my actions and the person that I am speak louder than somebody else’s misgivings or lies about me," Summer responded. "They print all kinds of **** about people all the time but you can’t run after every single lie. You tell people the truth and if they choose to believe you, they do."

move on.

Okay, so I'm sitting here with my Mac on my lap, watching American Idol, and I see Donna Summer come on. I remember, "Hey, there was a thread about this, wasn't there?" So I go to the page and look at the thread, then I open iTunes and just dowloaded the album. I didn't even listen to another song. Didn't sample anything. I figure, if it's good, I'll keep it. If it's not, I'll just clean it off the playlist.

Wow. Bryan Adams looks pretty good. I'm surprised!

I listened to some of the tracks on iTunes, but I'm not convinced yet. Then again, it's only $9.99...

if that helps.

I for one - am sold.
Worked out to it yesterday!
Keeps you moving.

I am all about going to see George, too. My partner had to run into the living room to see what I was screaming about! She doesn't like the Idol so she ignores me on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.:rotfl: Anyway, I scared her when I screamed when George came out....onto the stage that is!:happytv: I have to go see him this summer!!!!

I'm listening to it now as I do my 4th quarter grades. Have it playing on the iTunes. It's a lot more dancy than I thought it was going to be, but so far, not bad, really. I think "Mr. Music" sounds like it was something that would have come out years ago. Not a very new sound.

Am I sold? I won't wipe it out. This kind of music has its place. If I ever decide to exercise again in my life, this might be helpful. :rotfl2:

Dancy is one thing. But I guess I was thinking I would hear something a bit different than this. I kinda like a few of the songs a lot, but again, remember this (in case you don't know this about me)...I made the jump to country music years ago...this is very different for me. But I kinda like it!

HUGE
I saw her perform once in Nashville and it was just one of the highlights of my life to sit in an audience and see Dolly perform. She sang only two songs, but I felt like I could at least live my life saying I saw Dolly Parton perform live even once! And, once, years ago, when she turned "Coat of Many Colors" into a picture book for kids, I met her at the book signing. I stupidly gave the book away. Damn children in my life!

I skipped through the rest of the Summer album, by the way. It was getting a bit repetitive to me. So I jumped ahead to some other music.

Well Dolly sang for over 2 hours. And She was so funny too.
As for Donna - Now I know she's got no songs about car, bars beer or hound dogs - but give the girl a chance. :)

Do you like Dolly for "Dolly" or are you into Country at all. 'Cause when you listen to Donna backward, you don't get your truck back.

Dolly impresses me because of her history -
and her talent - writing, singing acting.
And her self-deprecating humor.

If I have to reciprocate - and listen to country - can it be Keith Urban?
And never Toby Keith - yuck!
