... does it mean you always relate?

No. A thousand times no.

But apparently that's what the people at my school think.

If anyone's heard the song "I Kissed A Girl" then you'll know what I'm going to say.

Well a lot of people (guys mostly) heard me singing it in the hallway.

Now they call me a lesbian.

Which is wrong on two accounts:

1. I'm not. Just because I like a song does not mean I nessecarily portray it.

2. Even if I was, that's discrimination.

Anyone have any opinions on this subject?

Open for talks now.

I've heard that song!!

It's pretty cool :-P

Anyway, you're right. Just because I love RENT doesn't mean I'm

a) a lesbian
b) a bohemian
c) have AIDS

Or just because I love Wicked doesn't mean I have green skin and I'm a wicked witch.

Or...

Well, you get the point.

People just DON'T GET IT! Just because you like something (that may or may not lead to stereotypes) doesn't mean you ARE that thing!

I hate that song.
Not because it's talking about kissing a girl.
I just don't like it.
The girl's voice is annoying and the beat isn't even THAT good.

I agree. I mean people think I'm a lesbian who has AIDS just cause I like RENT. Everyone is like "why do you like a musical about AIDS and gay people?" Okay, it's so much more than that.
Kinda OT but I hate when people criticize something even though they
1) have no clue what they're talking about
2) Actually like it but they don't wanna admit it
3) have never seen/heard of it but still wanna criticize it

I absolutely love Katy Perry!
And I totally get what you mean.
I mean, just because I like Jeffree Star doesn't mean I'm a gay transvestite that uses foul language and makes out with random dudes.
Seriously.

I hate it when people say that songs you like either you relate to, or say a happy song will put you in a good mood.
If I'm in a horrendous mood, the last thing I want to hear is happy music. If I hear happy music, I want to break things.

And if I'm in a happy mood, I'll listen to anything. Even SAD music.

I agree with you shelly.
I like that song, but that doesn't mean that I'm attracted to girls.
The music you listen to, in my opinion, doesn't really say much about a person.

While I don't believe that every song you like you can relate to, I feel that, personally, my favorite song at the moment is usually a song that I can relate to a situation that's going on right now. That's just me though. My music tends to exhibit what mood I'm in.

I dunno, maybe I'm from a weird town (no, I am from a weird town), but kids didn't really poke fun at you because of what your interests were unless they were really bizarre. I mean, everyone at my school seemed to love rent, and the popular girls probably would love that katy perry song because they were very friendly with each other in that way.
