Hopefully, I want to get the Canon 40D but I might wait until the next upgrade with that model. :thumbsup2

Good luck waiting. It was just released last September. Based on Canon's 18 month cycle, don't expect a 50D/60D until March 2009.

Thats alright I bought my XTi about 8 months ago so hopefully I quit buying lenses and want to invest in a new body by that time.

Maybe the $200 rebate is to offset the spotty performance of the kit lens the 40 comes with? :) More $$$ to buy a reliable lens instead! Ha!

i was thinking more along the lines of the d300 and competition...it seems nikon stole a lot of canon's glory( 40 d was a bigger deal till that pesky little nikon came out) so i was thinking maybe another tweak to make it a little more "something to talk about". ( or maybe that's just my take since the d300 made me wish it was a canon:) ) course they are also offering 300 on the 5d.....
i wonder how many buy the kit lens with the 40d anyway, seems like most who buy it ought to have some kind of walk around lens by the time they get that body.
as far as upgrades, i think it'll be a tweak anyway. haven't really kept up the rebels but how different is the xs( or what ever) than the xti? that's what i did though, skip the 30d and wait for the next one...course thanks to the economy i've been waiting a lot longer than i hoped;)

I, like many others, bought the 40D, sold the kit lens for about $350 on ebay and took that money to buy another lens. In my case, the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. At the time, it was a better deal than to buy body only since I aslo used discount coupons plus a sale ad to cut the price even further ($1250 for the kit). Of course, Canon had to go and ruin everything w/ this $200 instant rebate.

Depending on where you bought it, you might try to get a price adjustment or simply return it and re-buy it ;)

I knew about the $200 rebate on the 40D, but I just saw this: an extra $50 off for owners of the Rebel, Rebel XT or Rebel XTi who upgrade.
$250 off a 40D? That means only $889.95 at B&H. Don't see how I can pass that up.

yeah i just got that as well but can't get the coupon to download...told hubby wifey needs that new camera before july 19th:rotfl: also saw the rebel xs whatever got a great review so maybe that is part of the reason, seems canon topped themselves maybe?:lmao: so the 40d is the same price for rebel owners as the xs, ok by me

This is a great deal! I just bought one as well...Anyone have a recommendation for a lens that would primarily shoot minor league baseball games? Thanks in advance!:thumbsup2
