Blue Lagoon and Stingray City

Has anyone gone to Blue Lagoon and Stingray City? We are traveling with our 4.5 yr old in July and are interested in Stingray City. Our son loves all animals and would be thrilled to "swim" with stingrays. Just looking for any 1st hand information on this excursion.

We have been to Stringray City 3 times with kids. The first time my DD was 3 (almost 4) and she loved it. They usually take you to Stingray sandbar which is about 4 feet deep. Adults can usually touch bottom. One time the waves were a bit high but the kids we were with were all ok.

A few suggestions. Get a comfortable life jacket for your child from WalMart (or similar). Then get him a mask and snorkle for his own, something with a nice fitting mask. We got a set for around $15. Fins are nice but not needed. Then practice in the pool alot.

The first time my 3 year old did not use the snorkle, we called spit snorkling where she put her face in and then came up and spit sea water at us.

Not sure on the cruise but many of the boats do some snorkle stops and then Stingray City. At 8 she was still not comfortable with some of the offshore snorkling.
