If you haven't signed up to be on a Miles and Minutes team and would like to join one, just post here and Panda (Dave/Windwalker) will assign you to one.

I do hear that he takes bribes from team members as well. :lmao:

I was wondering how the teams work. What does it entail-- it there cometition between team? I'm training for the DL 1/2 and figured anything to keep me motivated would be good. Thanks.

Of course you may join. I just happen to have an opening on the Ohana team. Jeanne is the captain. Just go to their thread and introduce yourself. I know that Robert (UltraMickeyMouse) and his Lady, Linda, on that team are planning on going.

I'll tell them to leave the light on for you.

I'd like to join a team as well. I need some motivation /accountability/ justification for spending too much time on the computer.

So what's involved? Is there an initiation? Interviews? A sorting hat? Will I be hazed? Must I wear a beanie? Provide gu for the whole team? I'M SKAIRT! ;)

I ran a half marathon a few weeks ago and I'm trying to decide my next race. I really want to stay at a level where I can run a half without too much extra training. I figure if I do a long run of 8-10 miles every other week or so, along with another 15-ish miles during the week, that should do it. I can bump up the long run a bit when I have a definite race in mind.

Soooooo, for that - any suggestions? I'm in Kansas City and the next big race is the KC marathon (& half) on Oct 18. I'm signing up for that. I'm also considering the New Mexico 1/2 marathon in Albuquerque in August. I'm from NM and that's my birthday weekend and my parents would love to drive up and watch me run. My husband earns free tickets on SW often enough so that helps. Otherwise, I can find a 5K or 10K most weekends around here. I need some more t-shirts, mine are looking a bit ratty!

Okey dokey - I'm ready for my team!

Bonjour,
Could I join a team also. I want to do the Disney' Princess Half next march and I will need a lot of motivation to train during the cold and snowy month next winter. Right now, I'm training for a 10k in september in Montréal. I run 4 times a week (about 25 k) and bike once a week.
Thanks

Hi Dave, I am going to take the plunge and request a team placement. I hesitate because the last time I was on one of these teams I ended up being down with an injury for 2 months. Well, that is the past lets look to the future and the possibility of my getting the motivation back. I am entered in my second goofy (first one was '06) and hope to finish the combined 1/2 and full in less than 6 hours. Currently I am in the low to mid 20 miles per week but the plan is to ramp up the miles starting July 1st.

Thanks Mike "GG" B

I'd like to join a team. I'm not sure what anything entails (I've just been lurking for a couple of days). :goodvibes Just let me know what I need to do, and I'll do it. I'm not currently signed up for any marathons (not yet, at least... because as soon as classes let out, work went crazy and this is about the first time in forever I could sit down and breathe) and I'm not sure if that's a requirement (it seems to be a trend). :)

I'd like to join a team as well! I'm fairly new to running and currently training to run a 10k at the beginning of August and the Half in January. Right now I'm running 3x per week and getting in some cross training on the other days. I've already gotten a lot of motivation on this board and would love to get to know some fellow WISH walkers/runners.

Thanks!

I just finished my first Minnie marathon with my sister and hope to move onto a full in January '10 or maybe a 1/2 triathalon... I injured my IT band before the Minnie (but I finished the race!) and am just coming back from resting it now...
Thank you!

Dave, just a quick update/side note:

I checked the master game roster on the welcome to WISH thread and there are some errors in our roster. Mickeyhead and Mickeydee are not on the team. Chad has left and the other one never reported. You are missing Ksoeherlein and Nukeman from our list and ReAnSt just reported that she is on injured reserve due to a fractured 5th metatarsal in her foot.

This gives us a total of 16 active members and it's a good thing we ARE active!!!

Thanks for your continued hard work to keep this game going. You deserve a medal for that alone!!

Question Dave. Do triathlon and duathlon mileage count double when raced or just the run? SOrry, if you've already clarified this.

Yes any race counts double for everything. The idea is to encourage people to out and do it. If helping the team is just the last bit of motivation to sign up then "Hey" we did good.

Tracy, I keep a master roster that is on the WISH welcome thread. When I get inputs from the captains about players being inactive and dropping out for life issues I replace. I have no way of knowing who is and is not on the active list unless a captain tells me.

Herc's has been getting a lot of players because their captain had to drop out for life issues and I didn't know till almost all the team was gone.

Here is the criteria I use to place:

Team needs

Location

Interests

Requests

For instance I put a player on Ohana because they were in San Fran and I only have one other WISHer in N. Calif.

I put out a request for the captains to keep me updated. I update the roster as soon as I get inputs and then when I get a new player normally the shortest team gets the player.

I hope this answers your questions.

Ok...

taking the plunge! :)

I am from the south...want to do RFTT (is that the correct abbreviation?). I am basically barely walking...:) But would like to be jogging or running by October! :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Disney World and this is a great opportunity to use my desire to go back to Disney to train...hopefully convince at least one friend that they want to come WITH me...and compete in my first real race!

I did do a "baby" triathlon before...and really enjoy swimming the most! I actually swim further than I walk each week...YIKES! I swim an avg of 2 miles per week and walk less than that! But...that will be changing!!

So don't count me in for a lot of miles...just yet! :)

anyway...oh sorting hat...where will you put me? :)

Maroo, I'm going to put you on the Hakuna Matata team. A lot of walkers on there so you will get some good tips.

Just go to there December thread and introduce yourself. Connie, Steffwalks is the captain.

Where have I been? That's right, hanging out on the disneyrunning.com site.

Just caught wind of the whole "team" concept going on here, and was really interrested in joining up with one to keep me motivated during the last of my long training runs.

If it's not too late, than I am game to join in.

Thanks!

I moderate the walking section at DisneyRunning myself. Calico's team, the Jessica's Rabbits are a good team for a runner looking for a team that is doing some good training right now. Just go to their thread and introduce yourself.

Another newbie here.

I would like to join a team as well. My name is Nicole. I'm 26 and from the St. Louis area (although I'm on the Illinois side).

My goal is the Half Marathon in January :cheer2:

Is there anyone out there that wants me???:confused3

Hi, of course you can be on a team. Susie, Escape, is doing the placements this year for us. Just send her a PM or go to the roster thread and let her know you want on a team. We have a lot of people pretty close to where you live so maybe you can hook up with some of them for a race in your area.

Hi I am new here, I am 21 from St Petersburg FL (originally form England) I just finished the princess and am planning on my first full in Jan but I am terrible at training, I start off well then get distracted, I might be able to run a 1/2 with no training but I know I can't risk it for the full. My goal right now is to finish the full in 5.30 - 6.00. By Jan the goal may be to finish alive! I LOVE all dinsey running and plan on doing every race they are holding this year.

Do you think a team could help me???

Thanks Kirsty

Kirsty, I think it's just great that you've just started posting and are joining a team! :cheer2: Any team would be lucky to have you, but we're sending you to Team Rebel Alliance. Lots of energy there, and I know you'll fit right in! Go on over and introduce yourself, and I'll let them know you're coming.
Welcome to WISH, welcome to the Rebels, and may the force be with you! :welcome:
