We're thinking of buying into AKV this summer. The way the offer is set up, we'd have an inordinate number of points next summer if you count the free points for SSR. We were thinking of using all those points to stage a mini family reunion at SSR by booking a grand villa plus a studio for overflow. Can family staying in the studio get their own keys to the grand villa where the main group is staying?

They would probably only give you up to the maximum occupancy of the Grand Villa, which would be 12.

I think they will just give you enough GV keys for the number of people who are registered in the GV or can occupy a GV.
I don't know if it would be possible for them to code all the rooms in your reservation to the same key code. That way all the keys would work in any room that is part of your group. I don't know if they will/can do it for a GV and a studio (or studios), but they can code the keys the same in the one bedroom and studio parts of a lock off, so I think it might be possible.

Only those people registered in the GV can have keys to it. You can have up to 12 folks registered in a GV. If you aren't using all 12 slots (and I'm kinda hoping you aren't) there's the option of adding an extra name to the reservation to get the extra key.
Doing so might be limiting, because you can't do the dinning plan without having everyone listed on the reservation on the dinning plan. You also have think about which keys you are going to allow charing privileges (here you can limit it to only those folks you want to be able to charge) and if there are any folks coming you don't 100% trust to have a key to your room.

You'll be able to use those SSR points for the GV at 11 months out, but you won't be able to use the AKV points until 7 months out.
