Ted and Sandy, we'll probably be on the same plane! We're from Littleton too! But hey, no kids??? Diana might loan you a couple, that is, if the grandparents will share.
I can't believe how anxious I am for October to come. We even have a week long "pamper us silly" rafting trip and a California trip in between now and October. But all I think of is this cruise!!
So much anticipation then it will be finished so soon.
Hi to David, Krista and Clare too. I wonder if we could get a time in that chat room?? Anyone been in there yet? Maybe when the trip date is closer. (will it ever come). Glad to here from you all.
 Welcome to everyone still to post.

Hi DreamsDoComeTrue, didn't even notice that you were from CO. We are flying out the morning before on Frontier. We are staying at the Radisson. No kids, that's right. We had one daughter and her boyfriend with us this last January and decided to go on our own this time. Besides that, DD is going on the Magic again in May with his family and on the Wonder in Sept. She is NOT hurting!!! We have twin daughters and the other one is busy planning her wedding and cannot take time off. For some reason, the honeymon comes first. They plan on a week at WDW and then a week on the Magic for their honeymoon. See you there!

I just love having everyone checking in. We are very excited for October.
Have you all sailed with Disney before. We sailed without Clare in May of 2000 and had a great time.
Look forward to chatting more toward the date.

We sailed in October 2000 and had a GREAT time! Only 2 of our kids were old enough for the programs then so we always had 2 with us and still had so much fun. Unbelievable as it sounds our 4 year old (then 2 year old) probably had the best time and STILL talks about the big boat and is so excited about going again! I'm just so happy they can all 4 go in the clubs so we get some Mommy and Daddy time! Of course if Ted and Sandy WANT to borrow some .........:-) :-) :-)

Oh gosh, disney6. I know that we have plans the time that you would need us. Ha Ha!! I am sooooo sorry. BUT----Denine and Jerry will be on 2 weeks in a row and I am sure that they will be longing for little ones about that time. Try them. Actually, I clown around about the kids but I know that we would have just as much fun with them as without them. When they were younger, we did EVERYTHING as a family. We are now very close because of it.

Thanks for pointing that out! I love doing *almost* everything with my kids. They're good company.
The Jiminy's and Danine's still leave me boggled on one thing however... since you aren't with your kids at this time... why a Disney cruise?? I have a few theories floppin' around, maybe it's because the service is just SO incredible, (I'm a first timer you know), or maybe, it's a celebration of having "Graduated". For instance, when you hear a kiddo screaming over what a brother just dropped into their shirt, or yet another "life is unfair" demand, you get to sigh and think, hey, it's not mine. LOL Tell me, am I close?
Just for the record now, I am very grateful for the presence of seasoned pros on board, and our not being so frighteningly out numbered by kids!
So glad to hear from you all!

We choose Disney over other lines because it is more PG rated than the other lines. We do not drink (that much) or gamble. Other lines do not separate the adults from the families as well as Disney. Actually, children mean a lot to me so therefore, they do not bother me. It is great knowing that the kids that are acting up are not ours and we don't have to deal with them. It is just as much fun watching those precious faces light up when they see the characters. We are very Disney-fanatics. In fact, our daughter that is getting married in Sept of 2003 is having a Disney theme. Cake, invitations, deco etc. But----we are not ruling out other lines. We would like to go to Alaska. I believe it will be on the Princess. A friend of ours went a couple of years ago and had rave reviews. Maybe a couple of years down the way... after college for the girls is paid for and weddings out of the way.

Ah hah! I get it now !!! You're kids at heart.!!! Thank YOU!!!
:D I still have the occasional "Calgon, take me away" moments.
I'm so glad to hear your response. I was seeing so many adult only travelers and felt like, once again, I'd better try extra hard to keep my kids "reeled in" and not let them get underfoot or be audible to adult parties trying to enjoy themselves. They are really well behaved kids, but still, they're KIDS and laugh a lot, etc. I think that with the early seating, we'll be just fine. I'm so glad to hear your comments... Actually, children mean a lot to me so therefore, they do not bother me. I hope to meet you all on board.

We are in our mid-thirties and have no children, not by choice. We are Disney fanatics. We are Disney Vacation Club members and go to Disney 2-3 times per year. We also love to cruise, so what better combination! DCL is great for everyone. And the little girls are so cute dressed like their favorite princess for formal night!
We are leaving Saturday for a 10 day Panama Canal cruise on Princess. If Disney had this itinerary, we would be on it in a heartbeat!

Yep, he'll be there, and probably my daughter will want to bump down to be with him for the first couple of visits anyway. She just loves mothering younger kids, and is a bit shy and self conscious around her own age group or slightly older kids. If the activity is better in her older group however, she'll be gone in a flash!
I'll have to tell Cody about Leena! Is she cute? LOL He gets chased around by the girls at school. She isn't too fast of a runner is she? Haa
Oh, and Disney6, I just read yours too (we were typing at the same time:p ) I hope we can work out a meeting on the first evening, then at least the kids will recognize someone and feel better, whether they hit it off or not. You know what I mean? He could even e-mail Katie in advance.
I propose that we have our own little informal wine tasteing party everyone brings a bottle of their favorite. Maybe not the very first evening come to think of it. You want to meet me sober after all LOL:D I would like to something the first evening however.

DreamsDoComeTrue - Maybe should think about introducing Ian and Katie although they will be in different groups (he will be in the 10-12 group and NO WAY will he bump down - his words!) The wine tasting get together sounds great! I most definitely will bring my fav bottle (made here in Ontario - white off dry reisling). I personally would rather do that than a Palos lunch as I will probably have lunch everyday with my kids and that will be their pool time (vs. club time). BTW - I love the countdown but it makes it sound so far away - is it really? Getting psyched!!!!

We did this on our 10-13 cruise. It was fun. As far as I know, we are planning to do this on our 10-12 cruise as it will be several of the same people. I can bring extra wine for the 10-19 cruise as well!

Dis6, It IS that far away! I have 2 other vacations before this one, but here I am, being obsessed with my first cruise. I think I'll change the message from "Have Fun" to "FINALLY" on the code. (When it reaches 0days, 0secs etc) I wonder if there are activities where the 8-9 and 10-12 year olds get together?
Denine, I vote for YOU to be in charge of the wine party.
You're trying to live on cruise ships, huh? Are your other friends doing a back to back also? P.S. I heard about a British retired lady who discovered that with her frequent cruiser discount, she could live on a cruise ship for the same price as paying to live in a nice retirement home. So she DID IT!

DDCT- We also have 2 vacations (actually one wedding weekend out of town and 2 weeks at my Dad's house in Tybee Island, GA) between now and then and like you I am obsessing over this one! Sounds like Denine has much more experience at this wine tasting thing - so you get my vote as coordinator also!:) :) :)
Have to check my DVC points to see how many weeks I can cruise after kids are gone!!!!

WOW, everyone has been so busy posting. Fun! Include us with the wine tasting. Don't really have a favorite to speak of. Love the Moscato up at Palo's, though. Will try to locate a bottle here. Dreams: The wine package is an add-on. Your own bottle of wine at dinner will cost you around 17.50 in corking fees. Yes, you are right though, if you purchase a bottle or a package it can travel with you (if you don't consume it all in one sitting). I have also heard that your server can give it to you to finish in your room or on deck too.
I don't remember the post but I got the package off of these boards: (my print out shows threadid=151552) Classic package with 2 sparkling wines a blush, 4 whites, and 5 reds (choosing 1 per night) is $145, the Premium Package has all of the above and an additional 1 sparkling, 5 white, and 5 reds for $265.
Hope that helps

You guys are too funny! So, I am in charge, huh? What we did in the past was have the party in the largest stateroom that any of us had. In that case, it was a mini-suite. It won't be our cabin. We have an inside stateroom. For 10-12, we will be having our wine party in the same cabin as last year, as one of our group liked the cabin so much, he booked it for this year. He is also doing a back-to-back, but the only week we have matched up is the 10-12 cruise.
We also had an assortment of cheese and crackers that our hosts were able to get from room service. This may be because it was a mini-suite. I don't know. They also got wine glasses.
Yes, I had started a thread a while back. No one had posted on it in some time, so I let it die.

We are in a secret porthole room. Too small!!! How about the deck 7 secret verandah? I feel soooo left out with all your talk of little ones. Maybe I need to BORROW a niece or nephew for this trip or NOT! Oh I know, we could be the grandparents for the week as I think we are the oldest couple here. (50 and 48) Don't like that idea either. Grandparents are expected to watch the kids. Forget I even brought it all up. Sandy

Deck 7 verandah - yea. Sandy - our last cruise with small kids (8,4,2,1): We had a great time - wouldn't change one minute of it. We did no shore excursions. In St. Maarten we went to beach right next to the pier (with kids of course) and had hair braided and went back to ship. St. Thomas we left ship for 1 hour to shop at shopping right next to ship with all kids. We left kids in flounders 2 times (2 hrs. one night for Palos and 2 hrs. to do surial bath). We never saw a single show nor stepped foot in a single adult only night club or area other than Palos and surial bath. Am I complaining? NO WAY!!! Am I looking forward to all my kids being in the clubs this time? Yes. This is why we are repeating the eastern trip. This cruise we will do Golden Catamaran in St. Maarten, go to Coral World/Cokie Beach (on our own) in St. Thomas. See some shows, do the surial bath of course and probably visit a night club or two. We will spend part of everyday with the kids and take some of them on our excursion in st. m and all of them in St. T. They will spend all of Castaway Cay day with us. So we will see them alot and yet still have "our" time. I can't wait and I know one day all too soon I will be cruising without little ones.

Deck 7 sounds good to me. They don't mind if smuggled wine is enjoyed outside of cabins I take it. We are in a cat.8, waaaaay forward on deck 7. This is prabably a good thing, as it will force us to walk off some of the many extra calories I plan to consume. I'm trying for a 'no elevators' rule, too! We'll see if it holds. Lori - We did the surial bath on our last cruise and it was a blast. It is something we'd NEVER do anywhere else and you do have to be able to laugh at yourselves:D :D :D I do say it's probably not for everyone and my DH was very reluctant when I booked it but he sure got over that in a hurry ;) ;) If you do it - get in line early because even on the 7day the spots fill up fast.
I plan on doing the Coral World/Cokie beach thing on our own. My DH and DS wanted to do the submarine also until I printed the info for SNUBA. I figure my family can all go together and the girls and I will play on the beach and the boys can SNUBA then we can visit Coral World together. Don't forget to bring your own beach toys (bucket, shovel, etc.) We were SO SO happy we brought our own.

We are thinking about the Regatta. Thought we had it all figured out and Ted is now thinking about just parasailing at Castaway Cay. He really wants this to be a leisurely trip. Last January, all we did was go go go. Of course, one of our daughters was with us and wanted to do and see all. She is the kind that loves to be with us so we like to make her happy. Her boyfriend was with and he wouldn't do anything unless we did. Makes me feel very loved. Are you all sampling wine to find your favorite??? Actually, the secret porthole rooms are on deck 5 and very far forward. We were in the same room in January and booked it again for October. They say you have to book far in advance for one but we booked in January. I told DU to book anytime in October that we could get the room. Speaking of not being able to dock at Castaway Cay, that happened to us in January. I was sooooo disappointed. I wanted my daughter to see what a wonderful place it really was and when they announced that we couldn't dock, I cried. (ok, I am a softy) It was such a let down. However, we were able to dock the next day. The weather was the best there than the entire trip. Florida was freezing and the Bahamas was windy and COLD. We have done the Surial and the Rainforest and think we will pass on the spa. I guess we were not meant for spas. I got sick from the Rainforest. I think it was too humid and the smell of eucalyptus sends me. I know, I'm strange. My husband has been telling me that for years! Sandy

Have thought about the rainforest but can't imagine spending too much time indoors and now I'm wondering if I could take the smell! Thanks for that tip - sometimes things like that are just too much....
Have been tasting wine and will most likely bring one made here in Ontario since it's probably hard to get there.
DH and I both scuba dive but haven't since Ian was born so thought it would be a great opportunity for the guys to do their male bonding thing:D :D :D
We WILL dock at Castaway Cay (positive thoughts only!)

I could certainly use a course on wine... or just drink a course of wine:D (I'm not too picky, just hate shiratze and don't want headaches.) I like Pino Noir and will no doubt bring that. I would like to find a time to let the kids meet before going into their respective clubs. Is deck 7's place big enough that they could do there own thing off the the side and not be right underfoot?
I emailed for info on Parasailing on St. Toms and they are cheaper for tamdum riding ($100 for the two - kid and adult) and they do the reel you out and back onto a platform method. Is that how they all are? I've heard stories of being pounded down into the water at end of ride in Mexico's resorts. Too many good things to do at Toms. I was thinking seriously about the "scuba adventure" excursion there too. Probably won't leave the DH and kids though. Decisions, decisions.
Anyone else who is with us on this trip... jump on in here! We haven't bitten yet!:D

Keep us informed as to what you find on parasailing. Didn't even think about venturing out on the other islands for it. SMART!! I just bumped your thread, Dreams, on the subject. I think the deck on 7 would be large enough. How many adults and kids do you think we would have? If I am right we have 10 adults and can't even address the number of kids. Two couples without and 3 with. Soooo, somewhere between 6 and 9 kids. Oh, I say we would be fine. We can order crackers and cheese platters from room service and take it to the deck. Should be just fine. Sandy and Ted

What about meeting right before the sailaway party and heading up as a group? Maybe 45min to an hour before? According to old Navigators it starts at 4:30 so I'd think by 3:30 we'd all be done with our ressie scrambles? Oh never mind, the boat drill is 4:00. Quiet honestly, I am not sure that the first day would be the best even if you do not do the ressie scramble. I think whoever is new to cruising like I know Dreams is will want to explore the ship. We will do the Palo's ressies, eat lunch, go to our room and unpack and by then it will be time for the boat drill. There would be a little time to spare though before the drill. We never go to the bon voyage party. We love to go to the front and watch us sail off. It is fun watching the dolphins jump. Can check out the deck party, however. Not sure hubby would be as willing because he missed the dolphins last time. He was video taping. Then we rush back to our room to get dressed for our 6:00 dinner.
As far as new clothes, heck no I am not looking. I am praying that I lose weight. No, that WE lose weight. End of summer clearance is what I am striving for.

OK you experienced cruisers! I thought of starting a new thread then thought... "Hey, these guys know everything I could ever ask!" The thread would have been titled... "I am NOT an animal" My friend who's trip report persuaded me to book that very day, has given me various tips. One is, "the only really uncomfortable time was being wedged in with hundreds of other people who were trying to get off the ship first, to get a chair on Castaway Cay" The other is, "Oh, be SURE that you get into line very early for getting off the ship at Castaway Cay, or you wont get chairs." Hummm. Since the rooms are so generous with space, what if we were to bring some little soft stadium seats and a beach blanket? Can we just stand back and watch the madness, (maybe sing a verse of "get along little doggies") leisurely disembark <-- I'm trying to use the lingo now and just plop down anywhere we want on the beach? I guess the part I'm not sure about here is, will there be SPACE on the beach anywhere not already covered by chairs? The seats are those light and flat padded fabric deals where two nylon straps adjust how much you lean back (you know what I mean)? and I don't think that carrying them will be a big deal, jeeez we'll already be carrying lunch, snorkel gear and sand toys. They'll fit easily into the suitcase. Besides, no one wants my Mother Lion side to come out and if someone elbows my kid in the face or shoves them back ... well, it won't be pretty. (Just kidding...kind of) I just want to be Happy, Happy, Happy. No confrontations this week please.
How about on the other islands as well. Is that too tacky or even just not allowed on the beaches where they expect you to rent chairs? Maybe just a blanket in the backpack will do.
Well, let me know. Thanks guys. Lori

Hi Lori, your post surprised me. We have NEVER seen a stampede to get chairs at Castaway Cay and we have NEVER had a problem. One time we were at Serenity Bay and the other time at the family beach. Neither time did we have problems. If you are concerned by all means bring something. I like the idea of a blanket. That way your entire family could sit. I can't address other beaches as at Blue Lagoon they had plenty of free chairs and hammocks. They say the rooms are generous in space but quite honestly I can't say that. With all the luggage etc it does get cramped. Don't forget to store UNDER the bed. We made that mistake the first time. I have a question. Why are you planning on taking a lunch on Castaway Cay? They have Cookies BBQ there for you. Fresh fruit, cookies, hot dogs, hamb. chips, punch, salads. The only uncomfortable time we had was during the boat drill. I tell you, it is tight and on a hot day, WOW. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that has a Mother Lion side. I can be confrontational when it comes to kids. Adults don't always see that kids have rights, too. Or there are the adults that cut off families and separates them just to get a little ahead in line. I, too, was thinking of Denine. Bet she is due home soon. Sandy

Oh yea, I mis-spoke about the lunch on CC. I do remember that DCL feeds us there. We'll pack along some food for the other islands, and no doubt still buy more there.
Novice question here, is Blue Lagoon on Castaway Cay? I don't see it listed by name on the little map I printed out.

Oops, sorry to confuse you. Blue Lagoon is a Wonder excursion in Nassau. But from that experience I HIGHLY recommend taking your own lunch from room service for other beaches. I have NEVER had such awful food as at Blue Lagoon. Even my husband agreed on that one and that is unusual. He'll eat anything placed in front of him normally. If we decide to go on a beach excursion this time I am sure we will pack a lunch of sorts. You know, I am sooo excited for you Lori. I will never forget the first time cruising and the wonderful feeling. You will have that unique feeling not us. It will still be fun don't get me wrong but that first time, wow.

I have found as excited as I am for this cruise it still doesn't match the feelings of our first one. This will be the first one where all my kids are old enough for the clubs and I hope they will enjoy them so that in itself is different. I feel we missed so much last time (no excursions, not straying out of sight of the ship, no shows, no adult clubs) but like I said had a great time. My DH and DS got off the ship first thing at CC and found our "spot" and saved it, came back and found the rest of us at Topsiders and we made our way to the beach. When we got there there were still empty spots so..... It was crowded but I didn't feel hemmed in or cramped at all. We did not get a hammock but did get an umbrella, couple of lounge chairs and a couple of regular beach chairs (my little ones did nap under the umbrellas on the loungers) but found I didn't sit in the chairs much at all. Lots of people take their chairs to waters edge. To me CC was paradise and I could definately spend my life there so am very excited about seeing it again. Maybe this time we will rent bikes...... Conch Coolers are great - they even carry them on trays and wade to you in the ocean

Hi Diana! Well OK, maybe I won't worry so much about the chair scramble. Are loungers by the pools also easier to get than I have heard?

Thanks for asking, yes I am still around.
Totally splurged for 3-year-old's formal this week. She believes she is a princess, and for all accounts to us, she is.
I just got finished with a major fund raiser, so am back to the boards to catch up.
Wine tasting, great...count us in, and we'll bring too.
Daughter Clare would love to meet some children, she is so into "friends" these days.
I am back to being excited. Hope to talk with all of you soon.

Real funny, Lori! So now I have a new name, huh? Nellie. Should never have confided with you about my fears! It is appropriate however. I just am not a risk taker. Like I said on my other post, a size 16 up in the air is another concern. By the way, where IS Oz? Your last post was too funny. We always need some humor!
An empty ship would be great! It is amazing that everyone is getting early seating if they want. How unusual. Sure would like that! So would Lori. She could quit stressing about beach chairs. Can't wait to see your little Princess, Krista. She must really be excited. Little ones grow, but I bet luck will be on your side. Sandy (oops, I mean Nellie)

Ha! Did you see the reply to my thread on how to tell how full the ship is? LIKE I would go to all of that work.:o I swear I heard of a site that had the general numbers on all cruises just a click away. Maybe I'd had some bad wine. Whatever, I'll let that thread die away. My interesting soap-opera story for the night was the post on the 'bold' neighbors. Oh my gosh! What if I am actually a weirdo leach person and I try to get into your cabs and eat off of your desert plates??? I've already tried to talk Lil' Nell into parasailing with us.
OK, just for the record, so that no one thinks I'm following them... We're doing Golden Eagle Catamaran on St.Marts, Parasailing and Coral World (including Wed 2:10 guided nature trail walk) on St.Toms and TBA Cat fight with whomever takes my kids chair on Castaway Cay. Company (well, unless one of us turn out to be weird) is welcome on all, especially that last one.
P.S. I don't know where Oz is, but my house is really messy, maybe it will turn up. Oh... P.P.S. I'm currently testing the limits of size 14. Give me 3 days on board, and I'll be sneaking into your closets for a better formal dress.

The ship didn't FEEL full in Oct. 2000 but I don't know HOW full it really was. My in-laws almost joined us on our honeymoon (granted is was 3 years after the wedding BUT STILL - luckily they didn't go but I did p*** *** my FIL just by mentioning we really wanted to be alone that week - BTW - he's over it now - 13 yrs. later!) I mention it because of the neighbor thread - wow.
We are going to do the Golden Catamaran in St. M also - at least I am - haven't really discussed it with my DH - it WAY too early to talk to him about this stuff - he likes to just show up. Are you going in the AM or PM? I'd prefer AM. Will NOT be parasailing on CC - the pictures convinced me NOT too - I felt ill just looking at the height from the pics much less actually being up that high - NO THANK YOU. I hope y'all have fun though. Wouldn't mind doing the banana boat - little closer to the ground! Hopefully we'll do Coral World/Cokie Beach and boys to snuba in St. T.
Not getting into dress size.......:) :) Just looking forward to the Chocolate Souffle from Palo's - YUMMY. (the fried calamari are to die for also)
I'll take dibs on the Roy (since Lori already called the Walt)!!!:D

Supposedly, the ship was full this past January but you couldn't tell. So Diana, you have sailed in October before. I pray that there won't be a hurricane or whatever. I want to hit all the ports that I am anxious to see. The rocking of the ship wouldn't bother me. We faithfully take Bonine everyday. I can't even believe how p***** I would be if my in-laws wanted to tag along with me on my honeymoon. 3 years later or not. BUT, that does give me an idea. My DD is getting married Sept 2003 and going on the Magic and WDW. I think that I will inform them that we are joining them. Might just as well leave an impression on him early on!!!
Okay, so I confessed my size so when you see me eating the Souffle at Palo's I don't want to hear any whispering. Lori, my formal gown is a 14 so I REALLY have to concentrate on losing some weight!
OZ as in Wizard of Oz. Get it--I need courage.
I need to go read the board. I am lost with the "bold neighbors". Don't know what you are talking about. But with you guys making dibs on the suites, who is willing to take Ted and I in with your family?

Yes, we sailed Oct. 5, 2000 on the Magic. The weather was stunning. Mid 80's the entire time. Had ONE 15 minute rainshower one afternoon and the rest of the time was SUNNY. We did use lots of sunscreen and none of us burned at all (even my 4 year old who we call our little white girl - she is VERY fair). The last night the ship was very rocky - we heard a lot of people were sick but we just thought it was fun. It gets rough going over the gulf stream the first and last nights and that's about it (as I'm sure Sandy ala Nellie can attest to having been on the Wonder twice). The most bizarre thing my DH and I both discovered was looking over the railing into the sea we had such an urge to jump in - is that NORMAL? The water is soooo blue and just seemed to scream "come in". Are we weird or what? We were not even together when it happened - just happened to mention it to each other later.
Be prepared for cool water at CC but not so cold you can't swim. I don't believe Oct. is sea lice season either and we were not bothered by bugs at all. This is making me think about corn on the cob and Cookie's BBQ - can't wait. Maybe I should stop eating NOW!! :D :D :D
Would LOVE to share the suite with Sandy and Ted but it does only sleep 7 and there are 6 of us plus grandparents so......sorry.
We'll give you a free pass to visit anytime though!!! :)
P.S. I don't have a formal gown so will wear just a nice dress unless my dad's wife has an extra (we're the same size and same taste) and DH will be in a suit and tie.

LOL, I just didn't make the courage connection. I'm thinking things like, Ok, the yellow brick road and OZ were references to Gold, uhmm, "Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" and Dorothy flew to OZ through a hallucinogenic tornado...maybe like a parasail ride, I don't know...:p See how my mind works?
Diane- I have to make another decision??? I don't know? I wonder what the perks are to morning or afternoon. (Well, the morning would have you on it of course:rolleyes:) Would the snorkeling visibility be better at the place where the catamaran takes us, in the morning? Is that beach otherwise full of additional people? Is it better to troll the streets in the afternoon? Better bargaining?
Actually, I hope I don't get to far into the shopping thing. Just a little souvenir for the kids. I want lots of good pictures of the family.
I need to get ready for a busy next 7 days. Working for 5 and doing a sleep-over with the Brownie troop this weekend. They are sleeping at the Natural History Museum! How weird is that? Diana, Castaway Cay's water was very COLD in January but we got in anyway. Can't miss something like that when we don't have an ocean in Colorado. I was surprised that you said it was cold in October. I am wondering though if it will be nice for us this time because of how it felt in January. The first time was the end of Feb, beginning of March and was chilly but nothing like this last January. We, too, enjoy the rocking of the boat so I think no matter what we will be fine. We love to look over the side and watch the water but it has never called out to us to jump. Sorry!
Speaking of sea lice, something happened to me in January. I came home with a very itchy rash. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But boy was it itchy. Now I am wondering if we should buy the sea lice lotion. Is anybody buying it? I also came home with HUGE swollen ankles that took forever to go back to normal size. It could just be that we went to WDW before and was on my feet a lot.
Lori, I have heard of a lot of overnighters at the museum. In fact, my SIL and niece did it. I think you will have fun. I would think the girls would get scared of the eyes staring at them in the dark. I believe that is the only part of the museum open to you. Let us know how it turns out. Sandy

First off: Don't mention size. I just got off a 10 day cruise with food available 24 hours a day! I haven't weighed myself yet.
And, yes. We both wanted to jump right into the water. It was so inviting, especially in Cozumel. The prettiest water I have seen anywhere in the Caribbean!
We have late seating for dinner and we arent' doing any shore excursions. We are going to do the Tulum ruins the week before.

The sleepover was more fun than I expected, and much more exhausting than I expected! There were cool workshops, a new exibit on Nature, like earthquakes, tornados and yes... hurricanes:eek: (all of the museum and exibits were open to them untill midnight, lights out at 12:25) a 10PM IMAX movie, then half a day at the zoo Sunday morning.
Just a couple of more days of work at the hospital doing vacation fill-in, then it's back to the normal routine for a while. I have so much catching up to do in DIS board-land, life is too hard out there. ;)

I was far too tired to care. Maybe if I had to sleep in there alone, I would have started thinking about it, but there were at least 80 people in ours and the adjoining room. For a short time I was laying on the floor and looking toward an exhibit. I could only see the "sky" of blue and white clouds all lit up pretty. Then when the lights went out, you couldn't see into the exhibits at all and totally forgot about them.
Tomorrow's my 10th Anniversary. Guess I'd better think of something nice to do. I work the day and DH works his usual night shift. Hummmm. Think I'll leave a card with an IOU for the weekend.:p Take care all.

Hello to all. Denine, my DD is going on the Eastern Magic cruise in 3 weeks and they are thinking about the ruins. Told her to tell me all about it so I can let you know. Lori, which room did you sleep in? Couldn't believe that you went to the zoo in the morning. How did you find the energy to walk all around? Which hospital do you work at? I would assume either Swedish or Porter. Believe me, I have "lived" at both. Happy 10th anniversary! Can't believe that it has been 27 years for us!

OK, we slept in the "rare bird" room, right across from the Dinosaurs on the 3rd floor. There was this one exhibit of Carrier pigeons with a good 20 stuffed birds in there. What d' ya know... they are now extinct. Go figure:rolleyes:
I don't know how I had energy for the zoo, I probably got 2 hours of sleep if you added the little golden moments together. Some people were definitely dragging. I can get along without one night of sleep, but if it starts to become a nightly thing for more than two nights, well, you really don't want to be around me.:D OK, so some people didn't want to be around me anyway, I think a few just wanted to find a spot of grass not all covered with peacock poop and take a nap:p
I'm an MRI tech. Way cool, I love that job. I just do fill-in work so I get the luxury of just saying "No" if the request doesn't fit my schedule, and they are always glad to see me. Like the Good Fairy! I don't say "No" too often though. This job is how we are able to pull off the first few decent vacations in years! In order for me to stay home with the kids, we've really had to live on a shoestring. Now that my youngest is in afternoon Kindergarten and DH works afternoon/eve's, I can put in a day of work here and there, and still not need to get childcare. Next year I'd love to pick up a regular 1 or 2 days a week. The check direct deposits into an account that only I control, and it's just for vacations!
Wow, let's just listen to Lori ramble on with the story of her LIFE now!;)
Hi Krista!
Sandy, you're not supposed to 'live' at hospitals! Heck, you could get really sick hanging out in them for too long, huh Denine?
What area of nursing, Denine?
Oh and hey Sandy, you did decide to parasail, right?
Diane, do you think that the Catamaran is the morning after a late night party that the kids would want to go to? I might opt for an afternoon excursion in case we want to have the chance to sleep in. (I'm getting a little more protective of my sleep now:D )
...and on that note, I'm outta here. Talk to ya'll later.

Lori- I was thinking of the catamaran in the AM because there really isn't much going on in the clubs in the port mornings - just free time I think. DS's NHL hockey is in the PM that day so he WILL NOT miss that!! LOL. I want to take the kids so figured if I wanted to go into St. M without them the afternoon programs would hold their interest longer. Hadn't thought about late night parties as last time they were all passed out by 9 pm!! Oh what to do what to do??? Glad I have some time to think about this - or maybe it's a curse as I will THINK it to death!!! BTW- we will celebrate our 16th anniversary this August. OK - while we're "talking" about it - I am a stay at home mom. Worked as an engineer for 10 years before the first kid came along and have now stayed home for almost 10 years. Sometimes I think I would be saner (and nicer) if I worked part time but ........ no. I know I am VERY lucky and have been extremely blessed. Cannot believe we are going on DCL for the second time! Bought into DVC in Aug 2000 and still have not even seen Boardwalk! Anyway, before they were born I worked in the District Court and also in the District Atty's office. I missed it immensely but felt blessed to be able to stay at home with the girls. I currently watch my dental hygenist kids two days a week. One is 3 and the other is a month old. I love kids and that is how I get my "fix". Also, it is good spending money. Lori, I really don't have health issues. Stayed in Swedish twice. But, there is always the husband, the kids, my dad and who ever else. We haven't decided whether to parasail or not. We are still contemplating the Regatta and the Catamaran. Then again, we are just thinking about doing nothing. A nice leisure trip.

Your mini van story made me laugh. Not too long ago we were on our way home from church and my DH looked at me and started howling - he said "if someone had told us 16 years ago we'd be sitting here in a MINI VAN, in CANADA (he's from WPalmBeach and I'm from St.Louis), with FOUR kids in the back seat and we're all belting out "O Canada" at the top of our lungs we'd have thought they were crazy". I'm sorry. We actually had 5 children (hence the 4 year age gap between the first two) but our oldest daughter passed away unexpectedly during labor (39 weeks-full term). The decision to have more was tough as was the pregnancies but I know how fortunate we are to be able to make that decision ourselves. Happy you kept on with your lives - some don't. Good for you :D :D
We own at BWV and VB but have never seen or been to either one! Hopefully next year!
Does anyone know anything about the hidden Mickey's?

I am sorry to hear about your daughter. Jerry and I have come to terms with our infertility. We try to look at the positives of not having children. Our ability to travel, for instance. We are still on the adoption list for another year. If we don't receive a child by then, we are not going to renew our homestudy. They are good for 2 years.
We won't stop doing because we can't have kids!

Good luck with the adoption process Denine. We did foster care for a few years and boy, it only takes a minute to fall in love. I think we'll all look back on our lives one day and see exactly why everything worked out the way it did. (I sure hope so anyway:p )
On a Disney note... I found out today that DCL's air package (which we 'chickens' are doing) almost always put the guests that they fly in the day before, in the Airport Hyatt. I know Sandy said they were going to the Radison but is anyone else going to be at the Hyatt? Has anyone been there/done that? How did it work out? Think I can by some pop and beer near the hotel for a decent price (might be later in the evening)?

I printed out "The Mickey Challenge" from the Disney Cruise Index a while back. It has clues of where to find them on the Magic.
Ahha, the site is http://www.angelfire.com/my/disneycruiser/mickeys.htm
and I just double checked it.
That's all I know about them.

Haven't stayed at the hotel airport, but it seems nice.
Speaking of relating to people with Alzheimer's...You should have been on our Panama cruise. I think the average age was 80-something.
I don't think there were 20 couples under 50.

ROFL Well, there's the other end of the spectrum I guess. If anyone complains of kids disturbing their dinner, we can always say, "hey, they aren't leaving their teeth on your table, and you know, the poop fairy doesn't only visit toddlers!" :p:tongue:

Hi guys, I'm back. It has been a very trying day for me. My daughter moved out and I am an emotional mess. The boards always seem to brighten my day so here I am. My goodness, since I last visited the boards you guys were so chatty. Fun to read all. I wish you the best Denine. I know infertility is hard. It did take me a while but God pulled through with twins, even without fertility. We were even discussing adoption. I think all it took was a change of jobs, less stress. I am so sorry to hear about your daughter, Diana. That had to have been very hard on you! Lori, we have stayed at the airport Hyatt. It was a very easy way to cruise. Disney handled all the luggage. We thought about it this time, in fact we still have ressies there. We changed ressies to the Radisson because of the cheap suite. Ist time we did the Hyatt and transfers, the second time we did a towncar and an extra night at WDW, this time we are renting a car. Each have their own pros and cons. We did the Disney air the first time but didn't like layovers so we have started booking our own flights non-stop. I guess that means we won't be on the same flight, Lori. You will probably fly United or Delta. We are flying Frontier. Lil Nell is still contemplating parasailing. Don't tell hubby but if he goes, I probably will too. Thanks to your thread Lori I am not as afraid, still scared out of my witts but just not as bad. As far as the bold neighbors, that was too much! Thanks! I had read on the boards to ask for a clue sheet for the hidden mickeys so in January on the Wonder we stopped and asked for the clues. They looked at me like I was crazy. Needless to say we didn't do it. Have a great weekend everyone. Sandy

did the Disney air the first time but didn't like layovers Oh BUMMER I didn't think of THAT!
So do they start you out early in the day just to get you in late at night? Here I'm all thinkin' "We'll pick up the kids after school Friday and leisurely head to DIA for a convenient late afternoon flight ... enjoy an evening snack in Florida under a palm tree or something, wander down the street for a 6pk of beer and pop ... then get the kids to bed early" Is anything just listed possible? I know the time change isn't really in our favor. I read a post by Sr. Ferrari that made it sound like that hotel is right smack IN the airport, like the terminals are out the lobby door. Really?
It will all be perfect of course, cause I say so, just tell me what to realistically expect. Thanks Sandy
Anyone else have anythoughts on this?
How was everyones weekend? I rototilled. FUN

Not sure about the hotel, would be mighty convenient if it was right in the airport! Not sure where we are flying into - Orlando or Savannah where my parents live and drive down with them. I wish Southwest would let me price out October flights...... We do have reservations at the Radisson for $59 on Friday night and I've booked Avis mini van for $45 each way so am prepared a bit. Decided to invite my son's friend - they are thinking about it so we'll see. I hope he can come - such a nice young boy - he and Ian are like two peas in a pod! Busy this weekend with roller hockey, soccer, church activities and swimming and ice hockey tonight. Whew. Rototilling - how fun ;) Finally got my new cruise video so girls and I are constantly watching it - can't wait.

The Hyatt is right inside the terminal. You never leave. They have nice shopping and a food court inside the airport. You definitely will not be taking a stroll down a street and as far as enjoying sitting under a palm tree, I don't think that is realistic either. When we had the Disney air, we left DIA something like 9 or 10 in the morning, flew to Houston, had about a 1 1/2 hour layover and then off to Orlando. Getting in I am guessing around 3 or 4. We ate in the airport (Chili's) and just enjoyed laying around the hotel. A million bucks down that the kids will not be going to school that day. Diana, I think bringing a friend along will be great. I can't believe how busy you are. I would get so confused as to when and where I need to be. We haven't gotten the new cruise video. Must be pretty good!! Lori, if I gave you second thoughts, that was not my intention. The only problem we had was being grouped with another family and the seat assignments. I have heard others having the same problem. Make sure when you get your documents that you call the airlines and get seat assignments and check in early. It all worked out for us but it was a big pain for the other family. If you have any questions, e-mail me or I am willing to give you my tele #. Sandy

Hey Chip, well first of all, CONGRATULATIONS. You guys must be going on the 4 night Wonder which does leave on the 20th. We are heading out the day before on the 7 night Magic. We'll try and leave the terminal in good shape for ya;) .
You might want to sign in to the "Unofficial Cruise list" for your date. I only saw one other name on it for the 20th. You can view the list at http://www.makeabook.com/CruiseListDate.html and have yourself added by replying to the post that stays on the first page of these boards, called Unofficial Cruise List" or something like that.
I haven't noticed a thread for the 20th, so if you haven't found one, start one up! Of course you can hang out with us all you want, but I think we're on different boats:(
Have a great honeymoon!

Well, I'll just have to re-set my thinking a bit. The kids will miss that day of school, which is not too big of a deal. The week of the cruise they have a "fall break"(hence choosing the Eastern route rather than the Western which sounded pretty darn cool to a scuba diver like me) so they won't be missing anymore than the one day. Most schools don't offer fall breaks and our Spring break is earlier than most, so we pull off vacations without the usual crowds and not missing school. I guess I can deal with one day;)
Gosh I wish I'd discovered these boards before booking! I was so nervous about that fine print about missing the boat and lost luggage not being their problem, unless you used DCL air and transfers, that I figured I'd play it real safe for our first time. And then I bought the insurance on top of that:p . Wherever has my sense of adventure gone??? Traded it in for kids, I guess! I wasn't real thrilled about the fine print stating that there is no guarantee that they'll put your whole party on the same plane, however. At least with the hotel in the terminal, that's way easier in case a split actually happened.
Funny story alert!!!! Once the airline gave our family of 4 two seats together and two separate. So of course I wanted to keep the kids together as opposed to being alone, so after begging the mean old lady at the window to trade me for the isle I had a few rows away and she WOULDN'T... I just sat the two kids next to her, told her which kid to give the medication to with the meal, to cut up meat for the youngest, and to be very prepared with that 'special' sack in the seatback pocket. She moved.:D
Sandy, I will definitely call the airline and get seat assignments ASAP. I hope to get credit for the miles too.
Diana, a friend for Ian sounds awesome. What a great trip for him, especially since he's shy. Is the new video much different from the one with Ariel on it? How did you get it? I called some automated 800 # and ended up with a video that had very short clips of absolutely EVERYTHING Disney in Florida. About 2.5 min of the cruise. I also have a static-y copy of my friends Ariel video.
You guys are all gonna be partyin' at the Radisson without me!
Whaaa. ( <--- not my favorite wine)
See ya:wave:

We had a previous problem with Disney air when the girls were about 12 or so. We were separated on the plane and didn't know it until they loaded everyone on the plane except for us. We couldn't figure out what was happening. They called us up front and told us that we were separated and they hated to do that so they placed us in 1st class. What a trip. The funny part was our girls were "playing" with the daughter of one of the guys on Wings. They put them in coach and us in 1st class. Boy, did I feel stupid.

Think I just ordered the video from the DCL website. It didn't really take as long as I expected it too - few weeks maybe. My kids will be missing the entire week of school, plus Thurs and Fri before hand if I can talk Greg into going to WDW for MNNSHP on Thursday night before the cruise! BTW - I am going to buy the travel insurance too - but since there is no cancellation fee until 60 days before why pay for it now? Sandy - just because he was on Wings doesn't make him any more special than you ( or more deserving of first class!) Just back from Mother's Day Tea at Kindergarten - they can be soooooo cute sometimes :) :)

We buy travel insurance, too. A friend of ours broke her leg right before a cruise and needed surgery. They did not have travel insurance and had to "eat" the cost. Enough for me to buy!!! If you go to WDW before the cruise, Diana, I will be so jealous. This is the first time we will miss it while being in FL. I thought about changing our flight time after the cruise but it would cost 120.00 and couldn't see doing that for a short day of fun. Too bad I didn't think of that earlier!!! Forgot what MNNSHP is. You know, Diana, you always say the nicest things to me. You always make me feel special. Thanks!

MNNSHP is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We went 5 years ago and it is great! This year it's on the 17th and 27th (didn't pay attention to the other dates). Parks are open from 7pm-12mid. Trick or treating, kids dress up, bands, characters in costumes, special fireworks, parades. A LOT of fun. Not sure when to suggest this to Greg
I'm going to remember Lori if the airlines ever try to separate my family :D :D

Lori's story about the airlines was funny! I think I would have moved too if I was that lady!!! Come on, was it that big of a deal to move?
That sure would be fun if you could hit the MNNSHP. The kids would be so delighted.
In January, we hit the Osborne lights at WDW. Wow, was that spectacular. Didn't even know that it existed until I started reading the WDW boards. I have learned so much and continue to learn more.

What business??? It was ME silly! Just went back to that old name to reply to the way old thread that I'd started so long ago. Actually, that was my first post, the day I discovered these boards!
Hey, I heard back from the dolphin place near St. Martin. Web site is http://www.dolphinfantaseas.com/
$105. each, 5yrs and up, rather involved transport to Aguilla, however. They are currently working with DCL, on creating an Official DCL Excursion for this place, maybe that would make it easier. So far, unless a group is already organized, you need to do individual bookings thru shoretrips.com
They sent me a picture of their beach, and a download of the brochure - very tempting. Let me know if you want me to email it to you. I'm not decided yet, as we might just do it at SeaWorld next month.
Hey Sandy, check your PM's! You have your email access (thru the boards) turned off.
I laughed at this one, cause this is SO like something I would have done!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
I left Montreal heading toward Quebec City, when I decided to stop at a comfort station. The first stall was occupied, so I went into the second one. I was no sooner seated than I heard a voice from the next stall:
"Hi, how are you doing?"
Well, I am not the type to chat with strangers in highway comfort stations, and I really don't know quite what possessed me, but anyway, I answered, a little embarrassed:
" Not bad."
And the stranger said: "And, what are you up to?"
Talk about your dumb questions! I was really beginning to think this was too weird! So I said:
" Well, just like you I'm driving east."
Then, I heard the stranger, all upset, say, "Look, I'll call you back, there's some idiot in the next stall answering all the questions I am asking you."

Osborne Lights go up around Thanksgiving in the MGM backlot. Actually, the "New York" street has them too. It has tons and tons of Christmas lights and is a walking tour after hours. Unbelievably spectacular. They have "snowflakes". They also hand out 3D glasses so you can see angels flying. I can't remember the specifics but a family used to put up tons of lights at their home for Christmas and the neighbors complained and had them shut off. I believe the Osborne family donated to WDW their display. I Kept reading on the boards don't miss, don't miss and never checked into what it was. Curiosity got the cat and I clicked in on one of the threads and so glad I did.

Just back from a whirlwind trip to St. Louis for a family wedding. Drove 14 hrs. there on Friday, wedding Sat. and drove 14 hrs. back on Sunday. Needless to say, we are all pretty exhausted. Hi Strissel! So glad you popped in! I was starting to wonder where everyone else is? There must be more Dis boarders on our cruise.
I don't know about the tux. The last time I saw my DH in a tux, it was our wedding:) He looks great in an ivory jacket/ black pants tux, but not in all dark colors. Plus, we're really cheap!!!
I think the ivory jacket is too bright for evening formal, do you all agree? Have you vets seen anything but dark jackets on formal night?
Looks like the 5 and 6 year old gang is growing. Let's see, that's Alina, Cody, DVC Lady's Leena and Strissel's DS.
It's gonna be fun!
My DEAR H, just bought the kids dirt bikes (50 and 70cc motors). Denine, you're a nurse... just how many heart attacks can I live thru without permanent damage? (I've been riding since I was a teen, but it's SO different seeing your own kids out there zooming over bumps, just missing trees etc.)
Now we have weekend camping + dirt bike riding. Talk about laundry!

Asthma in cats is pretty much the same as in humans. It can't be cured, but it can be controlled with the proper medicine.
Would you believe there really are nebulizer treatments for cats in an emergency situation? They are held on with a mask.

They have Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten here that goes all day every other day and every other Friday. This week they go Tues, Thurs and Friday. Next week Tues, Thursday only, and so on. So on their school days I only have the 3 yr. old home - it's so nice! You can get alot more done with only one as opposed to three!

I have been thinking about Oct. 19, 2002, since we got off of the Wonder last October!! We did the Land/Sea last time, and decided that there was not enough time on the ship!! This time it will have to be a 7 day!!
I am traveling with DH and DD (9).
See you there!!

At this point, reservations for individuals need to be done thru shoretrips.com. I'll check back with DolphinFantaseas in a month or so, and see if they got the contract worked out with DCL. Actually, I see that this price ($122.and cheaper that Sea World)is for large groups and get a ferry straight from the pier. I'll email shoretrips again, about the price and legistics of individual bookings.

Hi everyone, just back in town to do some laundry and shopping and back to camping. Had to quickly check in with the thread to see what is happening with all of you. Sure hope your cat is doing great, Denine. We have always felt that animals are part of the family. Hope you decide on Oct 19th, Olando. I think it will be a great bunch of people. We have always done the land/sea package, too, and felt that 4 days on ship is just not long enough. We so enjoy WDW that it is hard to give up but we are definitely looking forward to our first 7 day cruise. Diana, you really had to get used to their school schedule up in Canada, didn't you? It is so different than ours. I think we have made our final decision not to take any excursions and just explore the islands. We have never done that and feel we have missed out.

Hey Lori - I noticed the dolphin excursion you are looking into is 7.5 hours long! Not sure if I am comfortable leaving my 3 and 4 year olds on the ship that long without me being close enough to get to them in a hurry if necessary. At least the Golden Catamaran I can (hopefully) take the 4 and maybe 3 year old if there is space once we get on board. If not, we'll only be gone 4-4.5 hours and if we were needed I'd hope Disney would be able to track me down as it's booked through them. It's too bad the kids' ages prevent us from all going. Something to do next time we cruise!!!!

I have bumped up Part 2 of my trip report from last years cruise. Part 2 tells about our trip to Anguilla. Best Vacation Ever Part 2 The End. Any questions please feel free to ask I'll be checking in on your thread. Wish I was going back there, but wanted to try the new itinerary and we couldn't miss Halloween on the Magic.
Here are some sites to check for more information on Anguilla. www.anguilla-vacation.com
Go to Need to know, then to Getting there for the ferry rates which I forgot to post in my report.

It's official, Ollie has asthma, just like his mommy. He will be on 2 meds for a while, then hopefully we can get him down to just the one. Other than that, he is fine. Thanks for all of your thoughts. :)
Welcome Olando: Hope you choose our cruise, or at least some cruise with DCL! :D
DVClady: Too bad you are cancelling you cruise. I can certainly understand 7 nights at the BCV. At least you still have other cruises scheduled.

Olando, Welcome! We must have been posting at the same time the other day, I didn't see your post when I started typing my own! I've done that with Diana too, great minds just think alike I guess. I have a DD9, too! You're coming, right? Tell us all about yourself - you've got some catching up to do!
Thanks for looking after us Ginger. I think you have helped me make up my mind. Diana, too bad the little ones couldn't come along and just enjoy the beach portion, but I see your point totally. Dang, I want to do it ALL !!! Oh, I just thought of something ... if my excursion runs too long and we're not back on the boat in time ... one of you will throw a chair overboard and say it sure looked like a person ... and hold up the ship for us, right?
Sandy, Geeez ... when you camp, you really camp! I like the 3 day weekend variety.
I just learned that a wine package can be split between multiple cabins, and you can make it any combination of wines that you want. Anyone interested?
Back to my unbelievably insane week. See ya'll. Lori

To eliminate the confusion, WE ARE going on the 10/19/02 cruise!! I guess that my post was a little vague. Our family did a land/sea last September, and now we are doing the Eastern. We have DD9 who really didn't connect with anyone on the ship last time, but I think that being on the ship only 3 days didn't give you much time to settle in. This time should be much better. She is hoping to pal around with someone her age!!
I hope to see some of you there!!

Laurie, let's get our daughters in touch. Mine is very cautious about new peers, and would even bump down into her brother's group just to be comfortable. Her name is Katie, 9 years, going on 13.:p I agree that 3 days isn't enough to bond with new friends. Mine are really momma's kids and would stay velcro'd to me all day, and I would never complain :D They are fun buddies to hang with, but IF they really liked the club... well I wouldn't mind being reminded of just why exactly I married this DH in
the first place. Some date nights and CC adult beach time would be nice. Glad you are with us!
Happy weekend everyone!

Hi Laurie.
Hope you and Lori can get your girls together- that would be great for both of them!
Had to escape from downstairs - I feel so bad, had Ian's (my DS) roller hockey time wrong on the calender and WE MISSED the game!!! I hate that!!! He is not an athletic or competitive person but ADORES roller hockey and only has it on Sundays - aghhhhh! There are times I suppose my plate is too full and things slip through. Last night had a mini-carnival at church for the little kids (ages 2-9) so have been busy (yes, I did the WHOLE thing!). Once a month I have a kids event at church - the parents can drop off their kids for 3 hours on Saturday night and I "babysit" them - movies, pizza, crafts, games. Last night was our "Season Finale" so I did a carnival type thing -games w/prizes, food, crafts, etc. It's fun but am glad it's over until October! :)
Trying to plan a 3or4 night getaway for DH and myself in August (I can't believe I'm actually leaving the kids with my parents  ), any ideas? Thinking of RCCL's 4 nighter that's only $319 per person! OR maybe WDW so we can do Epcot and Boardwalk "adult" style - thinking I'd feel too guilty for that but..... OR Amelia Island Plantation Resort in FL since the kids will be in Savannah with my parents so it's an easy, short drive. What to do, what to do !!! Suggestions?

I'm baaack. Hi everyone, hopefully, I remember everything I need to address. Denine, so sorry about Ollie! Now that you know it will be easier. Hopefully, Ollie is doing great. Welcome Olando. I think we are all a bunch of crazies. Should be a great cruise. Diana, with all that you do, I can't see how you can possibly keep it all straight. Wow, I sure hope the church appreciates your kids events. You must put out a lot of time and effort. Lori, we "camp" with a lot of extras. We have a pool, hot tub etc at the private campground so we aren't really camping. We have a 36' fifth wheel with all the ammenities so we just have a second home instead of camping, I think. You want to hear something funny? I have been trying different wines and champagnes and found one I really like. Lori, they serve it at Armadillos for breakfast brunch. So I thought that would be the one I share with all of you. Well, I was at the grocery store the other day and found it on the shelf. It is just a cheapy 3.99 bottle. Oh well, guess I will search some more. Sandy

Sandy, I was thinking about you camping and was going to say my idea of camping is the Holiday Inn BUT that's kinda what you are doing!:D :D I could camp THAT way!!!!
Wine - bring the cheap stuff! WHO CARES AS LONG AS IT'S GOOD? Price does not make a wine good!!! I actually love the strawberry zinfandel but will NOT bring that - Greg (DH) calls it flavored water! If anyone wants us to bring them some Canadian beer (real beer Greg says) let me know. We are driving to Savannah in July and will bring it and store it at my Dad's house until the cruise so we don't have to lug it on the plane.
BTW - think my DS's friend is coming with us - yea!

I call it camping but if I can't use a flush toilet then I'm not going. I guess you could say that I have my own private Holiday Inn. HaHa!! Guess what---I will be able to let you all know about how crazy Lori reallly is. We are planning to meet for a lunch soon. Shouldn't that be a lot of fun???!!! We live pretty close to each other. I think I will be on this board for awhile catching up. Sandy

Diana, I have forgotten something for my kids and it's the worst feeling in the world! Then I remind myself of it over and over and beat myself up extra good. What's with us? Out of 30 balls in the air, only one gets dropped and we think, "well, there goes my 'Mother of the year' award."
Savanna sounds lovely. Glad your son has a buddy coming along, Katie has a new e-mail pen-pal in Laurie's daughter Kristen. Not only does my DD Kristen have a new email friend, but I have a new tool to get her to clean up her room!! When I checked the email this morning, I saw that she had a message from Lori's DD. I quickly turned off the computer and told her that as soon as she gets home from school she should clean her room and THEN she could read the email. SHE IS SO EXCITED!! This whole emailing thing is kind of new to her so its great incentive. Also, it's a great opportunity to connect with a pal before the trip!!
We are driving from Wisconsin to Port Canaveral and have not yet made hotel resvs. We are leaving WI late afternoon on Wed and hope to get to the Port by late Fri PM. Is the Radisson where I want to be?? Last time with the Land/Sea we didn't have to worry about this because we the shuttle picked us up right at Animal Kingdom and took us to the ship.
Do I need to make resvs now??

Hi Laurie. Last time we drove from Toronto - we left Thursday late morning, stopped around 2am, up and moving Fri. morning and got to the Radisson at 2am on Sat. My DH NEVER drives that late but he said in no way was I (me) going to miss that boat!!! LOL. THIS time we are flying - yea! Have enough freq. flyer miles for the 3 girls and I to get to Atlanta, rent a car and go to my parents house in Savannah on the 17th. Will pick up DH and DS and friend on the way to the Radisson on Friday (Southwest Airlines from Buffalo to Jacksonville, FL). Works out great. Maybe we can enjoy the pool this time!
I personally would make reservations now if that's where you want to stay. You can leave your car there - we had NO PROBLEMS leaving our van there, even with the tv in it - for free and take the shuttle to the port. hint: have DH take you, kids and luggage first and then shuttle by himself with no luggage. Getting in late you can't reserve an early time on the shuttle but 1 person with no luggage can get on anytime with no problems. Go to the Radisson.com site, find the one at Port Canaveral and don't forget to put in the code FALL for the good rate ($59 for regular room and $99 for 2 room suite). Have until 6pm day of arrival to cancel but at least you know you'll have something before the rate sells out! You can always change later too.
We are using Ian's friend coming on the cruise as a bit of -"no, you can't have this or do this because...." and IT WORKS!!!!
I love it! LOL
Ginger- we will be there - hopefully others too. We'll be the group with 4 adults (my parents are coming with us) and 5 kids! Hard to miss!!! :D :D

We opted for the 99.00 special. So far that means Laurie and Diana, right? Where is everyone else staying? I know Lori is at the Airport Hyatt. Still have a room at the airport Hyatt, too. Just wanted to weigh all options before cancelling. Sure I could bring the 3.99 special but in our grocery stores they can only sell 3.2. Can't believe something that good is THAT cheap. It is even made in Italy. Verdi Spumante by Bosco. I have a stray baby bunny in my garage today. Sure hope mom comes by to get it. It is soooo tiny and I worry with the heat. Pray for it. Just saw your post, Lori. Don't worry, no partiers here. Ted and I are getting in around 5 and then doing some shopping before we check in. Disney does not have Pepsi products and Ted is hooked on Pepsi only. We are renting a car and stopping to buy pepsi. The first time we brought pepsi with us from home and it was heavy and awkward at the airport. We will probably get a late shuttle because we are checking in fairly late. Hope not. My DD(22) just got off the Magic last Saturday. She absolutely loved it. Cozumel was scary to all of them so they didn't do any shopping. They said it was even worse than Nassau. They loved the Cayman Islands. The water is soooo beautiful. (already have the pics back). On one of the two islands the guys snorkeled and the girls went to a beach. Good times had by all. The beach that my daughter went to had a giant "trampoline" in the ocean. They had a lot of fun with that. I guess there was other things to do there as well. The only bad thing that has come out of their mouths was how scary Cozumel was. Oh yes, they loved the banana boat at Castaway Cay. On comparing the ships she said that there is pros and cons for both. Her recommendation is to stay at all restaurants for the shows afterwards.
Where are you going in January, Denine? Can I come too---please? Real funny, Denine. We know you will be staying on the ship before. Oops, my jealous side is showing. Are you going to be able to keep the same stateroom? We were thinking about doing a back to back and found out we would have to get off the ship and re-board. I can understand for security reasons but what a pain to pack and unpack again. That isn't why we didn't do it however. Sounds like I was complaining.
As Lori stated we were close to the 100's and yesterday it was in the 50's. Go figure....only in Colorado!!! My daughter left here for the Magic in a snowstorm, missed the 90's, and came back to 50 degree weather.
Already time for the weekend. Packing to go camping again. Have a great weekend. Sandy

One more thing, Denine. My daughter recommends buying the shirts that change colors in the sun at Grand Cayman. I guess reading on the boards and listening to her that it is really a hot item.
DreamsDoComeTrue
06-05-2002, 07:29 PM
Denine! That is just too much fun. <-note the color of envy.
Those shirts are cool. We got them at Yellowstone last year and they entertain the kids over and over.
I wonder how different the price would be to do a back to back 3+4 day trips on the wonder, compared to a 7 day Magic. Then you get two Castaway Cays.
Has anyone ever done a Windjammer? Something like that sounds fun, too.
jiminyC_fan
06-06-2002, 10:56 AM
The 3-4 back to back is what we were thinking about. We could have used the 99.00 3 day cruise and then paid for another 4. We could not be guaranteed a secret porthole room (we had one in January) so we checked into the 7 day and got one so we forfeited the 99.00 cruise. My DH is spoiled and said he will only cruise in a secret porthole room. I thought the 2 Castaway Cay days would be ideal. Oh well, we look forward to the Magic!!!! We were thinking about a windjammer before we decided not to take any excursions this time. I think it would be a blast. My husband loves to sail so I was trying to lure him with any boat excursions. Surprising he said he would rather experience the islands.

Sorry guys  didn't mean to make you jealous :D
I have to get out of here in the winter. I will lose my mind if I have to stay here in the cold the whole time!
We will be traveling to Key West, Cozumel, Belize & Guatemala! It sounds so exciting. We have the lowest category, inside cabin. Gotta save money somewhere ;)
We were just in Cozumel in April. We didn't find it scary in the least. We hated Nassau, couldn't wait to get back to the ship!
We just walked around town and shopped in Cozumel. Sure, people tried to get us to come into their shops (they are trying to make a living), but a polite no was all that was needed. We really enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go in October (and again in January :p )
We will probably be staying at Disney for a few days after our January trip. It leaves out of Tampa. Gotta get Mickey in there someplace!
Two days ago, it was in the mid-eighties. Yesterday, I had sweats on and the heat turned on. Today it is supposed to be in the mid-seventies. I wish it would warm up and stay warm!

Hi Guys,
Boy have you all chatted it up since I have been gone...
We had an absolute blast in San Diego for 2 weeks, staying at Paradise Point. I would recommend it to anyone. Have stayed numerous other places there and this was it!
Cheap wine, did anyone say cheap wine?! I am the queen of the bargain wines, and I don't mean "flavored water" hee hee. Ironstone Cabernet is my new favorite and it runs around $7. Also anything from Pepperwood Grove also around $7.
My husband is getting really excited for the cruise. He is in the middle of a computer conversion, working 12-14 hour days 7 days a week. He said if he can just make it through these 3 months, so watch out...he'll be the lobster at the pool with a Crown Royal in one hand and a pina colada in the other.
We are staying at the Radisson Resort Parkway, and booked through DU. We will only be doing MK since Clare is only 3. We will take happy limo or another to the port.
Missed you all,
Krista

I have heard the greatest reviews of Paradise Point. I tried to book a few nights there last spring and a convention or something had the whole island booked. It was virtually empty the week before and after the week we would be there. I'll give it another try sometime for sure. Glad you had such a good time Krista, sounds like it was well deserved.
Man, we got smoked out today. South metro Denver was downwind of a forest fire and today was Cody's birthday party. Of course, I had all of the activities planned for our big backyard. Water balloons, silly string (Spiderman theme) running thru sprinkler stuff ... so here I was with 10 kids in swimsuits playing games in my family room. We snuck out for a quick water balloon war since I'd filled the suckers already, then we snuck out again for the silly string spraying, but boy was it a drag keeping them entertained indoors for the rest of the time. Ashes were falling like a light snow and the sun was an eerie dark red. I just kept the house closed up tight and ran the air purifier full blast all day.
So - How 'bout some of that wine right now!

Hi everyone! Welcome back Krista. I have never heard of Paradise Point so will have to look into it. My hubby gets tired of my obsession with Mickey so a new destination would be great. We did the CA thing a couple of times but I know that we didn't see it all. It was when the girls were little so we hit the typical Disney, Universal Studios etc. The fires here in Colorado are bad. The sun is drowned out with smoke and ashes. It smells and you can see the glow of the fire over the hills. Lori and I live fairly close to it so we are really getting hit. I know it will hit CO economy hard as no one will want to come here and the cost to fight the fires. The one close to us was caused by a campfire. So sorry to hear about Cody's b-day party, Lori. I am sure you pulled it out just fine. Just unfortunate that yesterday was the worst. Who else booked through DU? If there are something like 8 of us on the ship that booked through them, you get a stateroom gift. We got it last time. Denine, I wonder if my DD was afraid of Cozumel because of her age and because the store keepers would actually touch her and grab her arm to swing her in their stores. In Nassau they would only talk to you. Anyway, have a great week everyone. Sandy

Sandy, you and Lori take care. My parents are out in Durango right now, so there are 4 for tourism $$.
We booked through DU.
I would highly recommend San Diego. We spend about 7-8 weeks a year out there and have not gotten bored yet. We have been going since Clare was 1 year and have always loved it any time of year.
Happy Week,

Krista: It sounds like you had a wonderful time. We have never been to California, but I have heard some nice things about some places.
No one ever touched us in Cozumel! I can't say that for Nassau. Some girl/lady came up from behind us and put a bracelet on my arm. Then she asked for money for it. When we said no, she took it off my arm! Do you know where your daughter docked in Cozumel? There are 2 places. But since she did Disney, I guess she docked where we did in April. Maybe we just get more used to stuff the more places we go. We aren't as intimidated as we once were!
Too bad about those wild fires in CO. I hope they get put out soon. We have been to Florida when they have had some of their fires. All you smell is smoke!

Are you guys still breathing out there? Soooo sorry for you and at the same time glad we're not there. Have had the sore throat, cough, fever, cold thingy going around here. So far my DH is the only one not to get it. I can't shake it but you know, we never seem to take care of ourselves, only our family. Maybe I should take something?
I'm so nervous to book my sons friend but guess I'd better get it done before it's too late..... It seems so far away still.......... I need something NOW. Like a trip to CA or another cruise or even camping (in an RV of course)!!!;) ;) ;) ;)

Yep, we're still breathing!! (not fresh air, just smoke and ashes). The fire is so unpredictable so sometimes it burns one direction and then the wind comes up and it heads in another direction. Looks like in the morning one way and at night the other. Diana, at least take vitamin C. It really helped us last winter. I never believed in it but was determined not to get sick before our January trip. For the first time ever, we haven't had a cold for at least 1 or 2 years. (knock on wood!) Denine, my DD is racking her brain where she docked in Cozumel. If she remembers I will let you know. Glad to know, Krista, that there are still tourists out there! Wonder where Lori is. I think she mentioned working full time. Our lunch is scheduled for Monday. Should be fun.

Oh, I'm around, just busy with stuff. Plus, Katie and I both have colds too, so I don't feel like doing all the stuff, so it seems to be growing into even more stuff... you know. I'm on the fence about two decisions. Help me out, girlfriends.
1st - To do the dolphin thing at Sea World in one and a half weeks, (I need to reserve and pay for it NOW) or do the Anguilla trip with dolphin/stingray gig from St. Marten
2nd dilemma is whether to start Katie on the allergy shots road. Seems like quite a commitment (3-5 years) without a sure guarantee of results. $10 co-pay twice a week just for the shots, yuk! Anyone have experience with this?
jiminyC_fan
06-13-2002, 11:38 AM
Sorry, don't know anything about allergies. Poor thing. What a decision. Is it the kind where you are finding out what she is allergic to or is it treatment? The more I think about it it is a scratch test to determine the allergies. My thought on the dolphin fun is to wait to get the experience with the stingrays, too. Heard that it is absolutely wonderful. BUT----do you have other excursion plans that might make money tight on the cruise or confusion as to which excursion to take? If so, do it at Sea World which people rave about and do something else on the cruise. Just my thoughts. Going camping this afternoon, crazy as it seems with the fires. Oh well, my family really wants to go and it would be the entire family this time. Something we all look forward to. Have a good weekend everyone. Take me to CA with you, Lori.
Hope all of you and your families get over your colds. Summer colds are never fun.

I would like to do the Golden Eagle Catamaran excursion too. Say, Diana, you once asked if we'd prefer the morning or afternoon trip. I only see one time slot offered on Dave's site/excursions index, that being 7:45 to 1:00. Are there actually two?
I just e-mailed my sister, whom we'll be staying with in Calif. She want's to do the dolphin gig at SeaWorld too, so it's settled that we'll at least be doing it there. If we don't get enough of a fix, then maybe we'll also do it at Anguilla, as the all inclusive package from shoretrips looks pretty lush, pricey though. We'd save at least $400. by just doing the catamaran and eating lunch on the boat. We could do Anguilla on our own and save $120. but I'm leary of keeping up with that many details with kids, etc.
I might just be saying "cheers" to Diana on that cat after all! If so, I think I'll have gotten the best of both worlds.
Gosh, you guys are good therapy for me, I just convinced myself of what to do, simply by typing it all out:) That, and my head is clearing up. Yesterday, everything just seemed insurmountable.
Still open for suggestions, however. Have a good one everybody.

Lori Anguilla was not hard at all. The kids that went with us loved it.
It's just a short cab ride to the ferry, then a short ferry ride, then another cab ride once on Anguilla. The people are super freindly and the cabbies will come back for you, where ever they take you. They will not let you miss the boat. Our Cab driver Mel took such good care of us. He just about held our hand the whole way. I had contact with a gal from Anguilla Tourist Board she knew we were coming. Her name was Paula mtt@anguillanet.com
I promise you will not regret going to Anguilla.

I have no excursion advice, but it doesn't sound like you need it anymore.
I get sick all the time, bronchitis and sinus infections. I started taking Moducare a few months ago. So far it seems to be working. It helps build up your immune system. You can buy it a healthfood stores like GNC, but it is cheaper on the internet. I get it a iherb.com.

I've never heard of Moducare. Is is a compound of herbs?
Denine
06-17-2002, 11:55 AM
Moducare is a compound of plant sterols & sterolins. It is not an herb. Type in moducare on yahoo or something. There are plenty of sites that explain what it is.
I am off to Albany, NY. We will be back Friday. Jerry has to go for work and I am going with him.

Just thought I would let you all know that Lori really isn't all THAT psycho! We met for lunch today. It was very pleasant. She is as bubbly in person as she is on the boards. I think a lot of people thought that both of us were gambling on meeting someone we talk to on the internet. One more thing, she says she is a size 14 but don't believe it. If she is then I am a 22. Have fun in New York, Denine! Krista, did your parents get back from Durango? I thought about them when I heard about the fire there yesterday. Hope all is okay with them.

You guys, Sandy is SO nice. (Just listen to the nice things she's saying about me :) ;) ) but really, she even brought a surprise for my kids (and yes, a 12 is kinda tight and not comfy). Lunch was so enjoyable, an hour flew by like minutes. Oh, and I wish there had been witnesses ... she said she WAS parasailing at Castaway Cay! Let's hold her to it everyone!
Denine, the Moducare sounds very interesting. I'll try and remember to ask you about it in a few more months. Let me know if you choose against it for any reason. Have a good trip.

Hi guys. 3rd page again, are we having a wild summer or what!
We're out of here tomorrow and I'm procrastinating packing. I'll just visit with my girlfriends here for a while:D . OK, I know I'd better get the kids to bed and get packing. Just real quick then ...
Krista, I'm glad your Dad didn't have trouble with the air. I was surprised that my own kids were fine, since they have asthma too. I mentioned my pleasure about that to a friend and she explained to me that the levels of (whatever big term she used) "yukky stuff" in the air now is still much less than we usually have in our winter air. Don't know how good of news that really was ...
Diana, did you book your son's friend?
Have a good week everyone. I'll look forward to catching up with you all next week.

Hey gang! Been busy up here. School just let out this past Wed. and my parents were here for four days so we did "the Tour" (Niagara Falls, CN Tower, Toronto Islands, etc.) Had a great time and can't wait to go to Savannah (actually Tybee Island) to their house the end of July. No, I still have not added my DS's friend to our reservation so I really HAVE to do that next week! Guess it's getting close enough now to look into travel insurance also. We looked at the shore excursions while my DP's were here and think they and the boys will do the Atlantis submarine (I'm saving my $$ for the spa). Hopefully they will do the Catamaran with me in St. M.
With my DS home I won't be getting much computer time but will still check in once in a while. Have a great summer!!!

budser and susan514! Where are you ???
Just jump on in here any time. We haven't bitten yet!
The Dolphin Interaction at Seaworld was SO FREAKIN COOL! I'm so glad I did it. My sister, kids and I had a sweetheart of a dolphin (Pricilla) all to ourselves. They broke up 16 people into four groups of 4, and each had a private 'bay' area and their own dolphin and trainer. Everything about it was first class and worth every penny. (I should figure out how to insert a photo here, but I'm not that techie yet ;) )
We drove past a couple of fires. One in Utah was right up the guard rail on the other side of the highway, so westbound was closed and we still made it past, heading home. Lucky! We had reserved a room in Green River and the people unable to drive west ended up looking for rooms there, but the whole town was booked. I felt pretty lucky that I had the thought to call the night before and book something. We seldom do that, but were pretty sure of where we'd stop for the night this time. Lucky, lucky, lucky.
It's sobering that there are so many fires going on at the same time. The only one we saw that made the news was by Idaho Springs. I hope people will be sensible and follow the 'no fireworks' law this year. I might just spend the evening home for a change, keeping the garden hose handy.
Oh, for your entertainment ... (drumroll ... ) Check out this trippy website. It's a web cam, set up to try and catch site of a ghost , you can even hear some sound, so have your volume on.
Here's the story ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Apparently the owners of this house at times would see images and hear murmuring voices for some time. They supposedly researched the home's history and found that a lady once lived in the house who lost her husband during the Civil War. Legend says that she used to sit at the table and look across the fields in anticipation of her loved one returning home. He never came. So, they say she still waits.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They set up a web-cam to take pics at 5 second intervals and caught this photo of what they claim to be her apparition. I am telling you that it is eerie once you start to see the ghost in the picture because it's not there at first, but then starts to form as you focus around the right window.
It took me a few seconds to find it, but when I did it just
stood out, kind of like one of those optical illusions that went around email for so long.
To save you some time, concentrate around the table. Best not to focus too much on one spot. Look around the table and toward the window.
Click on the link below for the picture. Best to maximize the window.
The really eerie part is once you start to see the figure, you can faintly hear something being said, but you need a little volume.

Hi everyone! Checking in again. Laundry day, again. Yes, Lori it is Monument Pass. It is called Colo. Heights Camping Resort. You have been busy Diana! Thanks Denine, we are having a good time. The campground is having nightly visitors. Yep, it's bears. One was tranquilized and put under. That makes me sad as the fires have chased them down here. It was his 3rd strike. We have two more. Hopefully, they will behave and not get tagged. I feel sorry for them. The deer are wandering through, also. It is hot, hot, hot. We did get much needed rain (and lots of it) last night. With that came hail. Not sure yet if we have hail damage. Hope everyone's summer is going great. Talk to all of you soon. Sandy

Hi,
I have booked a cruise for 10/19 and wanted to give you an intro. I'm Sue and my dh is John, we have 2 daughters ages 20 and 24 who are not coming with us. We are taking this cruise with our friends, Candy and Jim to celebrste Candy's 50th birthday. I'm the baby of this group at 47. We are from the Chicago area and have been friend for over 20 years. I work at the Disney store and obviously love Disney!! We took the Magic last September 22 and are very experienced cruisers with about 20 cruises taken. We are also DVC members since 1993 and love it. I am looking forward to the next 4 months in anticipation of the cruise. and remember "NO HURRICANES".

And a special welcome to Ian! Ian, it's great to hear from you! I hope you and Oli have the greatest time ever. Man, I wish I had the chance to go on a cruise with a buddy as a kid. This is my very first cruise ... and I'm OLD!
I'm glad you liked the ghost. I didn't have as good of a surprise, since I heard my kids yell from their Grandpa's office. I blame him for passing this thing on. I hope you get to meet Katie, she's 9, so you won't be in the same club groups, but she's pretty fun and thinks boys are more fun to play with since girls pick silly things to argue about.:D Her little brother is Cody, who's a darn good sport. I am not so much worried about the surgery as I am anxious to find out the results. What kind of back surgery did you have? I had a spinal fusion in 1985. I spent 3 months in a body cast. A lot of fun for a 17 year old girl
I will be doing a lot of dreaming about the cruise this week!

Everything will turn out just fine!!! I can't imagine a body cast for 3 months at any age. I had a herniated disk that reherniated 3 times in 2 years. First one side then the other and the third was kinda both sides. They did a discectomy on me and it has worked well. I can finally sit again. So much for the medical report. You will do fine.

How are you doing, Diana? A broken rib in the middle of summer can't be easy. Sorry to hear about both of you!!! Don't remind me, Sue that we only have less than 98 days to go. The pounds I wanted to lose is still here plus I found a few extra. Lori, my dress will soon be yours if I don't settle down and lose. It is so hard to lose as at our campground there is a lot of seniors and they love to hold dessert parties. I don't really want to indulge BUT I refuse to hurt anyones feelings. Hi everybody!
I've been doing the family reunion campout last weekend, filling in for co-workers' vacations for the past few weeks, and getting it together for the rafting trip in Utah this Friday. I will be glad to pack away that tent for one last time. We're doing a 4 day trip so we'll have to put it up, bring it down, etc. for 3 nights. At least the outfitters do the cooking:D I booked us a hotel for before and after. Some showers are worth a lot you know.
Diana and Susan, get those bodies into traveling mode! Good luck.
Oh Sandy .... how about some M&M's ...... perhaps ... a Bon Bon too? I STILL DON'T HAVE A DRESS !!! I have a plain black skirt and will look for some nice tops, I also came upon a GOOFY dress that looks like it may have been what Snow White wore to funerals or maybe she just had a period of depression. It's black and gray, has a puffy waist and HUGE puffy shoulders.:) Katie wants me to wear it. I'm afraid kids will come up to me for an autograph then scream when they see the big nose and gray hair! Sorry Lori, no M&M's for me. All my cruise clothes from this past January don't even fit. YUCK!!! If we should ever go to lunch again, it would have to be salad. Have a great time rafting. Do you guys think that I could wear one of those suits with the shorts attached while parasailing at CC?

Sandy, we do have to get together again before the cruise! You and Ted come over and we'll BBQ some ... um-mm salad?
I bet you can wear any kind of shorts parasailing that you want. Just don't wear a tube top :) I called about the water levels, and the Green is fully boatable, although lower than usual. At least we won't have to get out and carry the rafts and kayaks! The hiking and campfire conversation will still be wonderful I'm sure.

Don't say the H********* word!!!!
We actually have cruised the last 2 years during September and have had great sailing. One year, we cruised between 2 hurricanes and they just reversed the itinerary. That is the advantage of a cruise versus a land based trip, they just move the ship away from bad weather.:D  :D :D :D

You're right Sue. We cruised in October and LOVED it therefore are doing it again. I think the week (or two weeks) before us was the infamous "mystery cruise" where they ended up doing part of the now western itinerary (were you on that cruise?) Our weather was FABULOUS! It rained for 5-15 minutes one afternoon and was very sunny the rest of the time. Mid to upper 80's daytime (not too hot) and not even cool enough at night to break out the sweaters! IMHO you run the chance of bad weather no matter where you go or when but you're right that the ship can always go somewhere else! I'd be happy if we just parked it off shore somewhere - warm and sunny!!!!!
Lori - have fun rafting! I think it sounds like fun?

I just spent an hour reading all the post from day 1. Gosh, you guys have been busy. The cruise is all we can think about. The twins are saving money like crazy, having lemonaide stands, & such. They have even set up their own "travel company" & they have been trying to book all their family on cruises for $1 What a deal. It's so cute.
Is there any more plans for the dolphing swim? My husband & I did one 10 years ago in the Keys & loved it. The girls are wanting to do one. Whenever we go to Mexico we always run out of time.
I feel like there's so much cruise information in my head that it might explode. Does anyone else feel this way.
My husband & I own a Heating & Cooling Company & ever since I booked this cruise, all I want to do is read the dis & find out info. Good thing I own 50% or I might get fired.
I'll keep reading & posting. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi everybody. Hey Beth, you are not alone with the information overload. When I first found 'DIS' I became a mad woman making notes, considering options, etc. Still, I'm glad to have time to think about it all in advance. Girl, you got some catchin' up to do. Your husband will be GLAD you did all of this money saving RESEARCH while he held the company together.;) As for the Dolphin excursion, I don't think my family will be doing it, only because we have now had a really good 'fix' at Seaworld, just last month. I would otherwise still be planning on doing the Anguilla one. I understand that there's not all that much to write home about on St. Mart anyway, so to spend the whole day on a really cool adventure wouldn't be too bad. The Shoretrips package is pricey, but looked to be very enjoyable.
I'll have to really pull my act together as the reservations date comes up. I'll already be a couple of days behind in getting reservations in, as I guess, after our agent (USAA) have made the payment, the info is mailed to them, then they forward it to us. I hope the Catamaran doesn't fill up before I have the info to call with.
Does anyone know if I could make reservations at the 60 day mark, without any paperwork in hand yet, as long as the credit card payment has gone in?
Gosh, I think I'll miss you guys next week. I've gotten so obsessed :earseek: I choose sleep deprivation rather than getting to bed at the first possible moment. (It used to be playing Hearts online with a group.)
Later troops.

Hi Everyone! Sorry that I haven't been more vocal, but I do try to read every day or so to keep up with the Oct 19 bunch. Here is my dilemna. We don't have a digital camera, but I think that now the prices have come down enough for it to be reasonable for us. I want to buy something before the trip, DH wants to wait and buy something duty free while on the trip. Any recommendations?? I want to spend around $300. Also, if you have a camera that you like that is user friendly, let me know.
Less than 90 days..........:p

Hi all.
Laurie, We have a digital camera that I use for work. my only problem with it is that I love "paper" pictures. It is more of a hassle for me to get these printed than my 35mm. I have a Cannon 35mm and love it. It is pretty much just point and shoot if you want it to be, but also has all the bells and whistles, including extra lenses for "professional" shooting.
My digital is a Sony Mavica I think, and it was really reasonable. I guess so, since work purchased it for me.
What is everyone up to?
Denine, how are you feeling?
Welcome all the new friends on the thread. How many of us are with Dreams Unlimited? Did we ever get a good count?
Just back from a 5-day trip to Vegas. We stayed at the Venetian and never had to leave the hotel. Reminded me a lot of being on a cruise ship.
Just a hello. Hadn't posted in awhile. PS if you haven't checked it out yet, there is a really fun "book" thread going about what everyone will be reading. Great ideas.

Krista,
Thanks for asking. I am doing pretty well. It sounds like you had fun on your Vegas trip. We have never been there, but have friends that love it.

I just found out yesterday that I do have endometriosis. I talked with my doc. He said he took 5 biopsies and they all came back positive for endo. I guess I will find out on Monday where we go from here.
Is it October yet?

Denine - Glad you got some answers but am sure that is not what you wanted to hear. Have never had that so I don't know what your options will be. Good luck with it all! You are certainly in our thoughts and prayers!
Just booked our airfare!!! Roundtrip from Buffalo to Jacksonville on our fav airline (Southwest) was only $125 each. Orlando was $226 so that made going there $700 more! US Air was a bit cheaper ($9/ticket) but we know how dependable Southwest is (if you have a story don't tell me and burst my bubble please!;) )
I was able to use the same codes for a van rental out of Jacksonville as Orlando so got a mini van for $49.99 (before tax) each way -- not bad!
Makes it all seem a little closer.
Have told everyone to study the excursions because I was booking everything at the 60 day mark! Especially since you have the option to cancel -- would rather that than NOT getting what we want! What day can we book exactly?
Krista - we went to Vegas in 1992 and loved it although we are NOT gamblers. Would really like to go back -- some day......
