When you travel, what do you use for a carry on? Or do you have an overnight bag that works well?

I'm going nuts trying to find a nice, big, cheap bag I can use for vacation. Our flight leaves at 6am so we're going to go down to the city and stay overnight.
I need something I can fit clothes in with the entertainment stuff and travel necessities.
I've found this but I think my mom would be mad at me for spending 40$ on a bag right before vacation.

Any suggestions?

My dad always gets really nice duffel bags from conference meetings he goes to when he goes out of town, with his company's name on it.
So most of the time I use those.
I wish I had a suggestion, I use a suitcase for vacations.
Then for overnighters, I use one of those.

I just bought a really cute yellow bag from Target for $10. It stores a bunch of stuff, I'm using it as a pool/beach bag but it'd be perfect for an overnight/carry-on.

I looked for it on target.com but couldn't find it. But if you go to a Target by you, they'll prob have cheap bags that would work.

Thats true.
Target is pretty cool for their bags.
I got my last last suitcase there. I loved that thing up for 5 years until I out-grew it.

Right now I have this carry-on that was part of a set of luggage. My parents only bought the carry on. It's blue and white flowers.
Before I have use a rather large purse, but it was a tight squeeze.

If I was leaving tomorrow, I'd be using my huge AE orange tote that I bought last year and used on a trip to Quebec.
