My sweet boy.... who was born 2 1/2 months premature..... who had a brain bleed and has periventricular leaukamalacia...... who was once diagnosed with MR........ who now has cerebral palsy.......
JUST WON 1ST PLACE IN THE SCHOOL SCIENCE FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's in 2nd grade... so it's not like it was rocket science. The title of his project was, "How to make an egg float".
I'm so unbelievably proud of him. He excels academically despite his challenges.
I was once told by a NICU doctor that my son was "wasting away". I was once told by a neurologist that my son would never walk, talk, see or eat orally.
I think I'll take a photo of him next to his 1st place science fair trophy and send it to those doctors to prove that children are resilient little creatures... and they can defy the odds!

I think you should brag away all you like. It made me smile to hear of your son's achievement.:)

Congratulate him for us!
And, congratulations to you for giving him the supports and therapy that have gotten him to this place. (I remember other threads where you spoke about fighting the school because you take him to physical & speech therapy during the school day. It's so great that the choices you've made for him have led him to a place of such success!)

That's fabulous! Ya know, I learned a long time ago not to listen to doctors' predictions. Not that they don't know a few things, but they don't know my child. And they don't know 'bout me (to paraphrase Beyonce). I know you must be about to burst with excitement. I say, your son took home a Family Prize because everything you have done to this point has brought him to this day. Way to go!
(btw--Christian has PVL too, but he's not going to be winning any science fairs. Maybe a giggling contest though:thumbsup2 )

:cool1: Congrats :cool1: You go with your bad self
As a nurse to these special little people, I can second the opinion that the docs really don't have a clue what these amazing kids can do!!!
