Hope to start going more often!!

How do you get to Disney World and how long does it take?(driving/flying)

stopher1
05-15-2008, 10:32 AM
We go by plane - so about a 2 hr 15 min flight - 45 min driving to the airport, and then 50 min - 2 hrs MCO to WDW (depending on ME buses) - door to door is probably about 5 1/2 hrs. Certainly beats 14-15 hr drive time plus being exhausted when we get there. :)

If you could add any character meal to WDW, what would it be? (which characters, theme, location, etc...)

I'd add a restaurant adjacent to PoTC just like Blue Bayou at DL but instead of Bayou decor I would have it themed as though it were a restaurant on Tortuga! And I would have Jack Sparrow, Peter, Wendy, Capt. Hook, Smee, "Mack" from the Pirate Tutorial?, Tinkerbell?, Capt. Barbosa?, Davy Jones?, the redheaded wench? Obviously in MK...
Or in DHS - a Villain-themed character meal! With each room of the restaurant themed with a different villain. Like, an underwater-y type lair for Ursula and a dark castle theme with a magic mirror for the wicked queen from Snow White...Ooooh! Both of these would be sooooo fun!

I would do an "Endangered Species Tribute" and design the fireworks to make the shape of animals that are in danger. They can make hearts and smilies, why not the outline of a whale or polar bear? Maybe, maybe not...

Well....we went to Universal a couple of years ago...I suppose I'd go back there. It's no Disney but it's fun! I'm just waiting for the Harry Potter bit to open really! :yay:

What is your favorite dessert in all of WDW...(no chains allowed!)

Until this past weekend, it was the chocolate suffle at Palo, on the cruise ships. However, we had dinner at Ragland Road (which was very good) and for dessert had the Bread & Butter pudding based on the recommendation of the waitress, not only was it beyond great it was the best dessert I've ever had anywhere! (and I do not like bread puuding!).

So...if you were to retire, and come to this area, would you work a part time job at WDW? What job would you be best at?

Yes! My husband and I dream of retiring and working at WDW. I would want to be a tour guide, or concierge type person- help people plan their day and what they want to see/do and where to eat...so fun!

I have 2 I would love to see! First at DHS, in the Sounds Dangerous building, I would do a MAJOR Incredible attraction. I would love to see it done like the Spiderman ride at Universal IOA. A ride-through in 3D!
Second, at MK in Stitch's Great Escape, I would replace that with an attraction based on the Time Machine from Meet The Robinsons! It could feature not only all the crazy-wonderful characters but also the wondeful message of the movie. All about family and moving forward!

My husband and I have no kids of our own yet and I think it would be pretty amazing to take a child who might not otherwise get the opportunity to go, and see the park through their eyes. We just enjoy the monorail ride to the MK, checking out the scenery, people watching, etc. It is fun to see everyone anticipating their fun filled day @ the MK. Also fun when you see people exhausted and sometimes cranky from the heat, crowds, etc. Makes you know you aren't alone :) We put our sunblock on at the park. We are too excited to get to the MK and we usually let the kids get some sun early and then we coat them down for the remainder and if they have something on that is sleeveless, etc. During the heat of the day, we exchange for a tshirt or just put the tshirt over the tank.

When you come back from your trip to WDW and your FAV WDW resort, is it hard to get back to reality??? It is for us. Definitely the beach club villas.
First, I love the location. One of my favorite times of my vacation is when Epcot is closing and I am walking back through international gateway. You look to the left and you see all the lights of the Broadwalk, to your right is the quietness of the Beach & Yacht club. What was your worst dining experience at WDW?

My worst dining experience was probably at Disneyland, at the counter service restaurant next to Space Mountain - cant think of the name. And the only reason it was bad was because there were SO many people, the lines were extremely long and the food was not good. But I am not one to complain at Disney. Especially over something like that. So all in all, it wasnt too bad!

Can't really tell you why exactly, but it was arriving at POR ahead of schedule and being welcomed by the guard at the gate. It was night and I'd never been to WDW before and didn't know what to expect. Our 3 kids were sooo excited! And much to my surprise, I was too! There was just something in the tone of his voice and the warm welcome he gave us that made me believe he was so sincere. I just had the warm fuzzies all over! Magic!:wizard:
