We just got back from a wonderful trip and I had to share my personal best find for ladies. I wore running skirts from Target the whole time and they were fantastic. They have little built in shorts, are light weight, cool and dry fast after Splash Mountain and Kali River rapids. It didn't hurt that they looked pretty cute too, lol.
I am not "ahem" tiny, at 5'8" and 215 pounds. These skirts aren't clingy and fall really nicely. Just a simple tank or t-shirt on the top and you're ready for the parks. I took 3 of them and two other pairs of shorts and only wore the running skirts.
Here's a link to what they look like: http://www.target.com/C9-Champion-Running-Skort-Ebony/dp/B0010OHN3C/sr=1-1/qid=1210772749/ref=sr_1_1/602-2542697-0747025?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Arunning%20skirt&page=1

I wanted to try these and I'm so glad you posted a review. Now I'm definitely going to buy some for my trip! And just for the summer in general :goodvibes .
I may need to get a pair, as they're only $20.

I saw those and wondered if they would feel good. I thought they were cute, so I might pick up a pair or two.
Just a quick personal question. I have "rubenesque" thighs. Did the shorts underneath "rub" at all?

LOL, I'm a little "rubenesque" myself. The shorts didn't rub, but they did rise up my thighs a bit. I've always had the rubbing problem. This time I used the body glide that was suggested on this board or a little stick deoderant and had no chafing problems.

Thanks so much for posting about these! I will be "running" out to get some:laughing:
They look cute! Thanks for the heads-up, do they have them in the store as well as online? And do they come in other colors aside from the pink/black?

05-14-2008, 12:17 PM
Yes I found them in the store and there were several different colors. In fact, this weekend I'm picking up a couple more for the summer. They also have really cute coordinating tops, but those showed my "rolls" a little too much for my comfort, lol.
I forgot to mention that one of the best things about them was the comfortable stretch after a couple of our wonderful dinners, lol.
Also if anyone was wondering they range in size up to XXL.

Send me youe email and I'll send you an invitation to view our photopass photos. You can see the skirt in a couple of pictures. Most of the time I'm standing behind the kids, lol.
Thanks for the post!
I was hoping for something with uhmm a little give :rotfl2: I also have burlesque thighs. They look really comfy!
I would love to see them too!

I tried these as well as something similar from Wal-Mart by Danskin and I hated that the biking short thing underneath rode up my thighs when I walked and ended up bunched between my legs. I couldn't stand it just walking around in the dressing room! I bought the Danskin ones from Wal-Mart because they fit me better and I cut the short out of them, and I'll wear them with a swimsuit bottom underneath for modesty. They had black and navy and were only $12.

they are cute.. thanks..
Do you know what the rise is like? midrise?
I do not wear the real low rise like the teenagers, but I also do not wear a real high rise... (I'm short waisted and some of the high rises pretty much fit me without having to wear a bra....if you know what I mean):rotfl:
thanks for sharing!

I just bought some of these Thurs thanks to this thread. I bought 2 skirt ones and then they had the same thing but in shorts. It looks like shorts but still has the biking shorts liner in them. I also got shirts to match. I wore one of the outfits walking this a.m. and it was great. I think it will be so much cooler to wear.
I don't know that I need 3 pairs but for the price it is great.:)
As for the rise. I'm average size. 5'7'' and wear a size medium. These hit me just below the belly button. I can still bend over and not show everyone what they don't want to see. Very comfy.

I bought a pair last May for my last trip, and I've bought some more this time. They are super comfortable, dry quickly if you get a little wet on a water ride, and look very pretty. They are quite flattering, and if you remove the little sporty Champion logo on them (it peels off), you can dress them up a bit more for evening.
I bought the Danskin ones from Walmart as a swimsuit bottom. They are a little longer than the swimsuit 'skirts' and are very comfortable for the parks too.
does anyone know if the Target ones are longer in length? The Danskin ones are a good length.

I bought a pair last year and love them. The only thing is at my age they are a little short and my legs are like toothpicks,:scared1: but the comfort out weighed those two things. I figure nobody's ever going to see me again.

I LOVE the Champion running shorts - they are silky and thin, and have a built in panty (so no crawlies - lol!). I will have to check out the skirt - thanks!
Mine came yesterday (and yes, Target.com did tell me they weren't shipping until July)  Love them!

Hey fellow dis'ers....
I went to our Target yesterday to look for these... and they had quite a few of these on the clearance rack.. the colors were different (must be from last year).. but they were on clearance for $5.24:worship:
Unfortunately, I am in between sizes and none of them fit me:guilty:

Has anyone who has them washed them yet? I was interested in how wrinkle-free (or not) they are. I only wear skorts, since they're feminine, but I don't have to worry about everyone seeing my underwear if the wind blows ;) . But most of my skorts (from JCPenney) are cotton so they wrinkle like crazy and I end up having to iron them, which is a big bummer.
If they can be good to go even after spending a night in the dryer, I'll buythem in bulk!

I have washed mine and they were wrinkle free after the dryer. I was surprised how well they washed. I hate ironing and these will be great to pack in a suitcase also.

I just purchased two pair at Target. I am ahem, of middle age :scared1: and I am very self conscious about my thighs. I love them. eta the skorts, not my thighs! LOL They are cute, feminine and hide enough. I have a lot of body image issues so if I like 'em..... Hope that helps!!

Can someone who is more Pooh-sized than Bambi-sized bite the bullet and post a picture of you wearing them?
Also, what is the size on these? Someone who is a 14 or 16...would you do L or XL?
Thanks!

I find that these shorts run big. I wear a size smaller in them than I "should" wear - maybe it's just how I am built. I wear a small, and heaven knows I am not a small in anything.

RachelsMommie -
I am a big sz. 16. I am short too! I bought a large - and it fits fine.
I wore it yesterday on a walk to test it out. They were REALLY annoying to me....the "shorts" kept riding up - not too cool.....I like something a little tighter on my legs to keep the chafing down and the riding up to a minimum. JMO...

I posted the same comment earlier, and I'm sort of glad to hear someone else had the same results! I cut the inner shorts out and will just wear a black or navy swimsuit bottom or panty underneath. I figure no-one will know the difference on the off-chance that they get a peak as I'm leaning over or something. :scared1:

I had the same problem when I tried them on at home. I did buy some Tek Gear brand at Kohls this week, and then seem much more comfy.

I read about these shorts on the runner's world forum (I'm trying to become a runner!:thumbsup2 ) and picked up a pair yesterday. They are super comfy. I bought them for running and also to use as my bathing suit this year (with a top of course). I love the idea of wearing them in the park or just around. I might get another pair.

I have been looking all over for something like these. Last trip after going on some of the water rides at WDW and Universal, I walked around with "chub rub" all day, from my shorts being so wet. This sounds like a great solution!!! Thank you , Thank you, Thank you!!!!

I bought 3 of them last week at Target ($14.99) and I've worn them once so far....LOVE them!! They washed well, and I hung them to dry to see how fast they'd dry, since my plan at WDW is to wash them in the sink with our bathing suits. They were dry the next morning:).
They are a little short (I wear a small), but DH liked them because he says I dress too old lady most of the time:). I think they'll be great at WDW, and they won't take up a lot of room in the suitcase, either. If they go deeper on sale between now and my trip, I'd pick up more. I bought 3 in black because black goes with everything, so I don't have to worry about matching my shirts to them:).
