------------ORIGINAL FIRST POST------------

Hey gals, so, after browsing everyones PJs and TRs, I thought I'd start one of my own. I've only been lurking for a couple weeks now, so bear with me!!

I have a wedding website with LOTS of pics of me and DF, but because it has a lot of personal info on it, I'd rather you PM me for the address.

I realize now that I shouldn't just start this PJ without more time to put into my first post, but I'll start simple, because its late and I'm tired. :lmao:

So, this is DF and I at the Sabres game where we were engaged (more on that later).

http://www.freewebs.com/gamerchic/game.jpg

I'm a format editor for an international environmental company (I love it) and Tim is asenior network administrator for a local advertising agency. Our big day is October 30th, 2008 at Sea Breeze Point.

More to come...:cheer2:

haha, EXCELLENT! July 12th is a great day! :goodvibes As for the Italian Amazon :confused3 My great grammie was 4'9, but my irish grammie is 5'9 and all the women on the irish side are pretty tall (dad is 6'4)...everyone always says they're jealous because I'm 6', I'm lucky DF is 6'3. I tried dating a guy in college who was hobbit size and he said (to my face) "tall chicks intimidate me." Like I had any control over it!

SOOOOO, after picking out a ring I'd like, DF had the great idea of adding 2 amethyst (my fav) instead of the 2 diamonds on the side (its a triple diamond ring). It looks a little like this (I'll take some real piccies when I get home).
http://www.freewebs.com/gamerchic/ring.jpg

I love the idea of adding amethysts and the jeweler (kays) said they would remove the diamonds and make me some nice stud earrings. Perfect. Well, I guess the ring was 3 weeks later then the date they promised it in (to DF secretly). He was sweating bullets because he wanted to propose on our disney trip. :scared: Luckily it came in in time for the trip, but he was still a little miffed that no one told him it was going to be so late. Apparently, they couldn't find amethysts that matched well enough in the time they had anticipated needing.

Part two: After DF proposed, about 2 weeks later I was taking a shower and set my ring down on the countertop. POP. Out slid one of the amethysts!! OH NO!! :scared1: So, I wrapped the kamakaze gemstone in a ziplock bag and we headed RIGHT over to Kays to have it fixed. Since it was under warranty, they had no problem fixing it for free (plus we got the extended warranty, so as long as we bring it in ever 6 mo for inspection they will cover EVERYTHING). So, I was a little upset, but they took my ring and said that it should be ready the following sunday (1 week).

A week came and went and then a week and a half...finally after a week and 5 days, DF called them and they said "oh, we couldn't find a stone that matched well, so we're still waiting on our jeweler (in california)."

DF said, "oh no, we GAVE you the stone that fell out..."

"Oh, oh, this must have from when you purchased it. Let me check into it and I'll get back to you."

Two weeks had passed and DF called again.

"Oh, our records show that it was shipped yesterday from Cali, so we should have it in the store by friday." Ok. Three weeks later, I finally got my ring back.

Part three: 3 weeks after it had been fixed, I was typing at work when I happened to glance down at my ring and :scared1: the other stone was missing!!:sad2:

 So, DF and I took the ring back to the jeweler and said "HEY! We just had this in and the stone is missing!!"

"Oh no, well, since it's still under it's "service warranty" we'll take it and have it back for you in a week." yeah, I've heard that before.

Two weeks later, DF calls the national customer service and says, "listen, you've had my fiance's ring longer than SHE has - it's not a cheap ring...it's not from a cracker jack box. I paid good money for this ring and you WILL have it fixed PRONTO and you WILL be compensating us."

"Let me look into the problem and see whats going on." Days go by while she is "checking with the branch manager."

Week Three: DF calls customer service again, "This is completely unacceptable."

"Our records indicate that the ring shipped out yesterday and you should be able to pick it up this weekend. We'll call you as SOON as it comes in." :yay:

Friday comes and goes, saturday, sunday...finally monday DF calls again and says "seriously, if this situation is not fixed, you will be giving me ALL my money back and we will be taking our business elsewhere."

"It seems like the ring made it to the store but they shipped it back to the jeweler for some reason. I'll call them and call you back."

Two days pass.

"Apparently, when the branch received the ring, they noticed that the stones were still loose and that one of the diamonds on the band had fallen off. It should only take about three weeks. In the mean time, we're willing to offer you a hundred dollar gift certificate."

DF says (I heard from the other room :rotfl2:): "Excuse me, but a gift certificate implies that I will have to buy something else from your store. I don't ever plan on shopping at kays again. EVER. In fact, I will be telling everyone I know to avoid your store like the plague." :rotfl2: :rotfl2: "If I can't apply the gift card to my Kays credit card to pay for this ring, I don't want it...and you will be taking at least 2 payments off of my card, because you've had it for over 2 months. I'm not paying for a ring we don't have. And NOW I have to go tell my poor fiancee that her ring won't be ready for another 3 weeks? Are you kidding me? Do I even have to explain to you why this is unacceptable??" :rotfl2:

The next day they called to tell us the ring was in. Strange, but I'll take it. :yay: Luckily, (knock on wood), we haven't had any problems since...but it's only been about 2 months. Phew. I'm glad that @#$%^ is over with.:sad2:

Moral of the story: Don't ever EVER EVER EVER make a large purchase from Kay's.:snooty:

Here some real pics:
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/jonesdube/rings/DSCF0677.jpghttp://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/jonesdube/rings/DSCF0679.jpghttp://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/jonesdube/rings/DSCF0680.jpghttp://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/jonesdube/rings/DSCF0674.jpg

ETA: we just got bought our bands too! And, since Tim already had a credit card opened with kays, and we don't want to open another account somewhere else, we decided to give Kay another chance. We actually walked out with the rings in our hot little hands, so that made me feel better...the sizes in the showcase were perfect for us! What luck!

Don't knock too hard, I would hate for you to give one of the kamakaze reason to bolt again:lmao:

The ring is beautiful though. I hope it brings you much happiness now.

Our first day looking (Davids):

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/jonesdube/dress/alinecloseup.jpghttp://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm179/jonesdube/dress/aline1.jpg

It was on sale because it was being discontinued, originally it was $399, but after the sale it was $250...I couldn't resist. My mother bought it for me on the spot...it was really sweet. After I'd decided it was definitely the one - she walked up to our consultant and said "We're leaving with this dress." I thought we were just going to browse, so I didn't really have much money -- she was soo sweet, I almost cried! XXOO MOMMA!!

Gorgeous!! And you look fabulous in it! Sorry about the ring. That stinks! I hope you don't have any more problems. Be SURE to get it checked every 6 months at Kay's or they may void the extended warranty. Don't take any chances.

Moving on... (good thing I have so much free time today at work! :rotfl2:)

We're going to have a light Jack and Sally theme, because like I said DF is absolutely obsessed and just with the knickknacks we have around the house we can certainly decorate the tables! Anyway, I found a corpse bride cake that my mother is going to alter to be our wedding colors (black, white and violet). And a matching grooms cake. It IS all fondant, which I don't particularly care for, but since I'm not really a "cake" person anyway, I chose it because it looked fantastic. I love the lopsided look!!

http://www.freewebs.com/gamerchic/grooms%20cake.jpg

We also found these on ebay (GOD BLESS EBAY!!)

http://i9.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/ac/77/db96_1.JPG

They're a nice thick heavy glass too, I was afraid they were going to be cheesy because I didn't pay a lot for them (I think like $20). Although, when I was just looking for a pic, I saw THESE on ebay and I LOVE them even more. Should I blow the 70 bucks and get the crooked colored ones?

Keener - yeah, we just had to have it "inspected" last week. I'd better stay on top of it too, because they don't tell you when you're due... scam artists.

I can't seem to see most of the pics I post. :confused3 I don't know whats up. Do you all see them? I can't see the ring or the cake pics... :confused3 :confused3

I bought a pair of isotoner slippers, but after trying them on with the dress, I just don't like the way they look on my feet... they have no structure--

So, I told df I planned to wear these Isotoner satin slippers:

I still think I just want to wear them!

I can't wear any heel (because I'm 6') and my dress is JUST long enough, I couldn't order the longer version because it was discontinued.

Opinions?

While I did wear heels for my ceremony, I wore bobby socks for my reception that my dressmaker added matching lace and beading onto. I say where what you want and be comfortable. Your face is nowhere near your feet, so I would say, people should not be looking.

Enjoy

Actually, I am a bit disappointed that I won't be doing the marathon for the third year in a row. "Just the half-marathon". But I wanted to leave Sunday free to cheer for my teammates (from the DISBoards WISH racing team) and then for the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and our dessert party. I would be extremely p.o.'ed about that whole ring debacle. How horrible to have the excitement of getting engaged tainted by Kay's incompetence. :headache: I hope that there are no more incidents! The ring does look beautiful btw, and probably is even prettier with the amethysts in it.

Ok ladies, I'm having some issues and I can't DECIDE! I was never very decisive!

So, We're trying to keep the outrageous spending to a minimum, but I am so torn about photographers. I've heard good things about Paul and Ty (DFTW photogroup), but I've also seen incredible things from Randy Chapman. :confused3 I also really love the samples I've seen from STVS (Stan) in HD on Blu-Ray. :3dglasses

So, what do I do? We're doing escape, so we get the 2hrs from DTFW PLUS we're having a reception at home that we really want to have shots/vid playing at...plus I might want a photographer for that as well... do i want an album? I don't know... :confused3 is that more important than a video? I don't know.:confused3

Please help me Disbrides!!!! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Yeah, NBC is DF's fave, and we're both Burton freaks! Seemed like a good fit. ...it's really just a figurine set, not a cake topper -- and its pretty big, but we just HAD to have it! Here's the touchwood "mission statement." I really respect this couple. They are phenomenal.

David and I strive to live simply. Our work is a reflection of our values as much as it is a means of supporting ourselves. We believe in 'right livelihood'.

"Right Livelihood embodies the principle that each person should follow an honest occupation which fully respects other people and the natural world. It means being responsible for the consequences of our actions and taking only a fair share of the earth's resources. Right Livelihood is about sustaining a lifestyle that values simplicity and contentment, rather than acquiring material possessions."

We do our utmost to cause no harm to people or the environment. We certainly have no allusions that our wooden rings will change the world, but each wood ring we make means perhaps, that a little less gold or another diamond is not mined.

Much of the wood we use is from blow down and bug killed trees on our 50 acres. We take the stewardship of our land very seriously. We've collected our birch bark from the ground around stands of birch trees in the bush. Our juniper heart wood, cherry & olive wood come to us from the yards of family in the Similkameen Valley of British Columbia. Some of the other woods that do not come from our land are surplus and scrap woods from wood shops and veneer factories where it would otherwise be trash. Additionally, we use a such a tiny bit of wood to create a ring that we couldn't use up a tree in a lifetime of making wooden rings. We are always striving to lighten the load on our planet.

Word of mouth and the Internet are our only means of telling the world about what we do. It's cost effective and earth friendly. This technology allows us to use our solar power and our time to communicate with you as an alternative to printing catalogues or travelling to participate in exhibits.

We look forward to putting our work in your hands, our rings on your fingers, and we thank you for coming by.

Okay, this is really spooky (no pun intended).

I actually took that very pinkcakebox cake and showed it to Mike's Amazing Cakes as an example of what we wanted.

I looked at that dress (which is gorgeous, by the way).

We also looked at those very Nightmare Before Christmas goblets (we also looked at wedding rings too).

We also looked at those very same wood rings, but Rob's work would have destroyed them.

We even considered wearing our wedding clothing to MNSSHP! We thought about getting married on Halloween (I keep getting asked why not, but it was just because we already had this Disney trip booked).

Wow. I laughed through your entire planning journal. What are the odds? :rotfl: I guess that means I love all your choices! :rotfl:

We even considered wearing our wedding clothing to MNSSHP! We thought about getting married on Halloween (I keep getting asked why not, but it was just because we already had this Disney trip booked).

Wow. I laughed through your entire planning journal. What are the odds? :rotfl: I guess that means I love all your choices! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Just means you have great taste!!

Just had the "can't have your MK photo session" at the end of October/November talk with my planner.

I guess somehow in my own little world I thought it would be okay. :confused3 Well, its not okay! :furious:

I asked if they could do the shoot at night (I could forgo the daytime pics) and she said no. I asked if there was ANY time during the NINE days we'd be there (I'd even take BEFORE the ceremony at this point), she said no.

Ever since we decided to have a DFTW, all I could imagine were some great shots in front of the castle, all purpley and green.... *insert expletive here*

We can reschedule for any time during the year... which I guess is better than nothing, but means lugging my gown and DFs suit, then I'll have to have it steamed again - and have to get my hair done again... this is totally bunk.

I want my mommy. :sad2:

okay I'm not even all the way through your PJ yet..but I had to comment!

I LOVE your dress. Simple yet totally unique. And you don't look like you need to lose any weight!!

Oh, and I think it's awesome you wanted amethysts in your e-ring! I'm not really a big diamond girl, and the DF definitely didn't have a big diamond budget! I told him I'd like a sapphire (my birthstone, and it's beautiful!) for the center stone. It's perfectly me..yet several people have asked me if the ring "means something." Apparently if it's not a diamond..it's just a plain ole ring. :confused3

Awwww! That's terrible. I would be furious too! :headache: Couldn't they kick Hanna Montana or whomever they're doing out for just a few minutes? I'm sorry to hear they're doing this :(

I suppose on the bright side, this does force you to take another Disney Vacation in the next year. Good thing for the annual passes!

:rotfl: See you've got a long way to go before you turn into :furious:+:bride: This is my favorite part of that email :
If you get down to Disney and something is awry with the planning, you find Mickey and you break off his ears and feed them to Goofy all the while screaming and jumping up and down, "I'm the bride and can do what I want" over and over and over until Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, All the Disney Princesses, and all Disney characters pull their own ears off and feed them to Goofy just so they can stop listening to you - then that's a Bridezilla moment.

I just looked at your wedding website, and I can see why you'd want everyone to see it! It's chock full of information, and it shows that you worked hard on it! I love all the little Jack heads! :)

I feel the same way you do... it's an advertisement to say, Hey I'm not home! and Hey crash my wedding!

I've read that it's a good idea to have someone stay at your house for at least the day of the wedding to make sure the house is secure.

But I still feel sketchy sharing all that information to the world, so I haven't posted my site either.

You did a great job!

I figured I would post it in my pj (not in my siggie like I originally intended), if it gets to be a problem, I'll take it out and ask for PMs again... but, I figure - it can probably be googled (because its dotmac)...so what the hell...:confused3 I should probably take some of the uber-personal info off, but I have to wait til I get home, stuck with a dumb pc here at work! :lovestruc

No doubt! And, for the record, its not the disney people I'm worried about -- because anyone can access the boards, its the "anyone" I'm nervous about. But, I suppose the worst thing they have is a relative location of where we live and our email addresses.... :confused3

Moving on... (good thing I have so much free time today at work! :rotfl2:)

So, my mom is an AMAZING cake decorator and she volunteered to make my cake for the reception. Obviously Disney will be doing the one for Florida. Anyway, our reception theme is the age-old disney couples theme. Each table will be a different couple. Here's who we have so far:

Belle & Beast
Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head
Pongo & Perdita
Flik & Princess Atta
Mickey & Minnie
Milo & Kida
Snow White & The Prince
Mike Wazowski & Celia
Chicha & Pacha
Dorie & Marlin
Jasmine & Aladdin
Peter & Wendy
Woody & Bo Peep
Ariel & Eric
Aurora & Phillip
Mr. Incredible & Elastigirl
Simba & Nala
Mulan & Shang
Cinderella & Prince Charming

Our head table is going to be Jack and Sally, because like I said DF is absolutely obsessed and just with the knickknacks we have around the house we can certainly decorate the table. Anyway, I found a corpse bride cake that my mother is going to alter to be our wedding colors (black, white and violet). And a matching grooms cake. It IS all fondant, which I don't particularly care for, but since I'm not really a "cake" person anyway, I chose it because it looked fantastic. I love the lopsided look!!

http://www.freewebs.com/gamerchic/wedding%20cake.jpg
http://www.freewebs.com/gamerchic/grooms%20cake.jpg

We also found these on ebay (GOD BLESS EBAY!!)

http://i9.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/ac/77/db96_1.JPG

They're a nice thick heavy glass too, I was afraid they were going to be cheesy because I didn't pay a lot for them (I think like $20). Although, when I was just looking for a pic, I saw THESE on ebay and I LOVE them even more. Should I blow the 70 bucks and get the crooked colored ones?

Here's the cake topper I found this christmas at FYE:

Its really just a playset, but the figgies are poseable, so you can make them hold hands... ADORABLE.

I just got off the phone with Rosie from Disney Floral and we've officially added the following:

-Tussy Mussy Bouquet & matching boutonniere
-petals for the aisle (+$65)
-white bags with petals for tossing (+3.50x18=$63)
-petals for the cake table (+25)

For a grand total of +$153

So, I sort of stayed in budget, :rotfl:

Rosie is going to send me pics of the different violet/blueish flowers they have for petals. I'll post when I get them.

I'm still debating about a sand ceremony and she's going to send me pics of that too, although I've seen Lynns, so I think it's similar. It's only $25, so I'm leaning toward it (at least to make the ceremony a little longer :rotfl2:)... any opinions?

Funny about the ceremony! Although, I do think it's sweet and sentimental, it's just I feel like it's not something I would get good use out of. And, we have a lot of clutter (still from moving in together) and I feel like it would be just one more thing I need to find a shelf for....:confused3

That is good news to hear that you have your ADR's all worked out. I haven't been to Ohanas before but I might have to go this trip! You don't have to pay for parking when going to the Poly unless you get valet parking. If not, they will just ask you to show ID. Just in case you don't know, you don't have to wait until 7PM to go to the MNSSHP. I think the earliest time is 4:00PM but we went at 4:30PM for the two parties I have been too.

I am having a sand ceremony because I have two kids and it is a way to incorporate them into the ceremony. Now I am just wondering how I am going to get sand on a cruise and back and on a couple of flights home?

More talk of welcome bags:

We decided, to save money, we only wanted to do welcome bags for our immediate family (the wedding party *parents* + our siblings + grandmas). We bought some great beach towels at disneyshopping.com and the total for all the towels (plus 2 for us, of course! :lmao:) was around $100.

I bought a lot of trading pins on ebay (50!) for about $70, which worked out to less than $2 a pin, so I was ok with it... and I think we're going to give all of our guests a couple...

http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/ca/97/ad6b_1.JPG

After hearing back from the fam about joining us, we have gone WAY over our 18 people (we're up to almost 40!), so after specifically telling people at the holidays that seats are first come first serve (we still wanted to keep it intimate, and can't afford the minimum room requirement for wishes), we've got our VIPs.

We told the rest they are still more than welcome to come down for a Disney vacation and our reception dinner. They seemed ok with this! Possibly because no one really likes the "ceremony" part anyway, plus it's only about an hour, so they'll get over it...plus then they can join us in the A/C instead of having to sit outside :rotfl:

Side note: While on ebay looking for pins I became incredibly addicted. I've never been a pin trader, but I'm about to become one!! (Part of me wanted to horde all of the pins for DF and me! :rotfl: So, I bid on a couple that I really needed to have...I only won two of them, but they're awesome.

I totally adore the dinah one -- I'm thinking of doing a cat lanyard... but there are so many good characters that I love (tink, eeyore, etc) I'm such a noob!! :hyper:

Pin trading is awesome, addictive, and EXPENSIVE!! Watch out for those ones!!

You're not kidding!! I just bid on a NBC pin and it started at 3.00 -- fair enough, I put in a 10.00 max bid and it went up auto to 10.50, then I went up to 11, 13, 15, 18, and finally $19.50 then it auto bidded up to $20 and I was like  I almost put in another bid! $20 for a freakin' pin is ridiculous!! For $20.50 that dude can totally have it!! (Plus there's 4 days still left!!)

I need to hitail it out of ebay fast!! :moped:

Wow! Those activity books you made are GREAT! And, I can't believe you got all those pins. My whole family went crazy with the pin trading a couple trips ago. Me and DF get one for each other on every trip but I don't trade or anything. It gets crazy and heavy carrying those lanyards around.

Thank you!! I know what you mean about the lanyards, some of the pins we got were HUGE! We just wanted to give everyone a little something, and we can't really afford to do something huge and elaborate...although I wish we could. :confused3 What are ya gunna do?

Oh wow nice job!!! :thumbsup2 Did you seriously write those books word for word?! I can't imagine...

Thanks!! For the most part I copy/pasted a lot from different internet sources (disney.com, allears.net, mousesavers.com, hiddenmickey.com, doombuggies.com, and the list goes on)...I also had 4 book form references, Idiot's Guide to WDW, The complete WDW by Julie and Mike Neal and 2 imagineering field guides. Trust me, it took forever! (and this is only book 1!!) Book 2 has tips, tricks, and trivia - this one was more of a planning guide. The best part is, when I'm not busy at work (I get jobs handed to me from editors), I'm allowed to read a book or work on my own stuff (or surf the dis, lol) SO one week a couple weeks ago I had 32.50 hours of "overhead" (read: free time)... so, it took at least 32 hours! (but hey, the best part -- I got PAID to do it!! :rotfl2:) AND since it takes the format of our publications, it almost looked like I was doing real work! :rotfl: But yeah, it took forever -- if anyone wants a copy as a template, please let me know - it's got a lot of great info in it! To update the table of contents after you change it, just press F9. :bitelip: I'm really proud of it and I'm glad YOU GIRLS notice how much work went into it (DF does too) everyones like "wow this is great." But not, "wow, I can't believe you went through all this trouble just to help me plan" ... :confused3 It's ok though, I don't mind thankless jobs as long as they help people! Got to figure out how much it's going to cost to mail all of them though. yikes.

Oh yeah -- while I had the camera out, I took some pics of my e-ring and pics of the heritage ring that I was gifted for Christmas from my awesome aunt (cohost of my shower)... it's going to be my "something blue" because it's sapphire and pink gold. I love it. It was my great great grandmothers e-ring, and I actually wore it as mine for a couple months while my ring was at the jeweler. I'll post them as soon as I get back from our wedding errand day... ordering invites, printing stds, delivering some booklets... :) Have a great day gals!

Why does it seem stereotypical that a mother would wait until after you're done with the STD to say something? My DM would do the same thing!

Looks like you've been busy! That book you made is just off the charts :)

OMG I had a phone meeting with rosie today at 2:00 pm... she's busy! How did you stay so in budget I'm like off the charts, for just a simple escape wedding... It's embarrassing!

I'm glad you chose O'hana's! You'll love it!

Can't wait to hear more... oh btw, we're doing the Disney sand ceremony as well, just to lengthen the ceremony! :rotfl: Who cares about what it means right? Anything to make it longer than 10 minutes... :lmao: Kidding!

Budget? What's that? Is that a kind of cookie? I'm just kidding... I just sorta waved good-bye as my budget went past what I thought it would be.

:rotfl: I WISH it were a cookie!! (it wouldn't leave such a bitter taste in my mouth!!) :lmao:

I just posted in another pj too, I would have LOVED to get the flowers and swags to decorate SBP, but seriously, I kept telling myself we could only afford the basic escape package... then I got on DIS and booked Misty, STVS and added some pretty petals...:confused3 :rotfl: Just need to upgrade my cake and go all out, eh? :stir:

Oh well if you like it you can totally recreate the look!!

1) buy Princess Leia cinnamon roll hair (you should definitely be able to find it around Halloween).

2) buy headband

3) hot glue gun one bun to top of headband (or maybe stack both for extra volume!)

4) tuck in random colored hair pins

VOILA! Beautiful bridal hair!

Dont know if you have someone doing your hair yet, but I have been working with Janet Mednick from onsite beauty (recommended by Disney in the packet of stuff they sent). Since I have short hair and 2 of by bridesmaides do as well, she offered to give a discount since not doing up-do's takes less time and effort.

When we went down for your PS I went and had her do a trial run, she is very good and had a couple of suggestions for my short hair....just a thought.

I love love love your dress and your rings are GORGEOUS. I love the whole idea of dark purples/violets/blues like Tim Burton has. It's just so pretty and perfect.

Thank you so much!! That's actually the pic I put on a zazzle shirt for DF with "groom" on the front! He's gunna love it!! ::yes::

I *finally* got to see the 'do,and I love it. I tried so hard to pull that off, and it just didn't frame my face right. And I'm completely incompetent when it comes to hair! :rotfl2:

You can see the bottom of DFs framed NBC poster -- it was signed by Danny Elfman, Tim Burton and ... er... I forget, but there's three signatures on it...For an "I love you anytime" gift last year I bought him a signed (TB) copy of a Corpse Bride cell... but with the ridiculous frames he buys (custom matte, custom framed, anti-uv, museum glass) I think having it framed is going to be more expensive than the cell!! :rotfl: Silly... but worth it, to witness the way his face lit up! ::yes::

actually i got a gift certificate for a tattoo for xmas last year and when I go to get my two pirate helms on my sides, im gonna have him sketch it up so when I get it ill show you! im so excited for it :)

Vincent Malloy is seven years old
He's polite and always does as he's told
For a boy his age, he's considerate and nice
But he wants to be just like Vincent Price

He doesn't mind living with his sister, dog, and cats
Though he'd rather share a home with spiders and bats
There he could reflect on the horrors he has invented and wander dark hallways alone and tormented

Vincent is nice when his aunt comes to see him
But imagines dipping her in wax for his wax museum
He likes to experiment on his dog Abocrombie
In the hopes of creating a horrible zombie
So that he and his horrible zombie dog
could go searching for victims in the London fog

His thoughts aren't only of ghoulish crime
He likes to paint and read to pass some of the time
While other kids read books like "Go Jane Go"
Vincent's favorite author is Edgar Allen Poe.

One night while reading a gruesome tale
he read a passage that made him turn pale
Such horrible news he could not survive
For his beautiful wife had been buried alive

He dug out her grave to make sure she was dead
Unaware that her grave was his mother's flower bed
His mother sent Vincent off to his room
He knew he'd been banished to the tower of doom
where he was sentenced to spend the rest of his life
alone with the portrait of his beautiful wife.

While alone and insane incased in his doom
Vincent's mother burst suddenly into the room
She said, "If you want, you can go out and play
It's sunny outside and a beautiful day."

Vincent tried to talk but he just couldn't speak
the years of isolation had made him quite weak
So he took out some paper and scrawled with a pen:
"I'm possessed by this house and can never leave it again."

His mother said, "You are NOT possessed and you are NOT almost dead
These games you play are all in your head
You are NOT Vincent Price, you're Vincent Malloy
You're not tormented or insane, you're just a young boy
You're seven years old, and you are my son
I want you to get outside and have some real fun."

Her anger now spent, she walked out through the hall
While Vincent backed slowly against the wall
The room started to sway, to shiver and creak
His horrored insanity had reached its peak
He saw Abocrombie, his zombie slave
and heard his wife call from beyond the grave

She spoke through her coffin and made ghoulish demands
While through cracking walls reached skeleton hands
Every horror in his life that had crept through his dreams
swept his mad laughter to terrified screams

To escape the badness, he reached for the door
but fell limp and lifeless down on the floor
His voice was soft and very slow
As he quoted "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe:
"And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted...Nevermore."

MarioKart is AWESOME!! I got it for DH for father's day and we haven't stopped playing!! I'lll have to ask him how to add people and figure out what our ID is so we can all race each other!!

:woohoo: Yup! He'll know how to do it!! (I'm a gamer nerd as well, it never dawned on me that you gals may not know how to add people)

A Brief Tutorial:

When you start the game, select your profile and it will bring up a bunch of options on what you want to play.

In the lower left hand corner is a box with two smaller boxes inside labeled 1 and 2. This is for 1-2 player online play. If you click on either of those (depending on if DH/DF is playing with you) you'll go to a screen that gives you "Find a friend" as an option. If you choose that you can enter my ID code and it should find me. The process won't be complete until I add YOU in mine as well -- your ID should be displayed like your Mii is "talking bubble" it on the find a friend screen... it's a bunch of numbers (looks like a credit card number...)

Hope this helps! Any questions, PM me and I'll walk you through it! :woohoo: Yay disbride mario tournament! Also, my DFs ID code is different from mine, but he said you gals could add him if you wanted too. :moped:

I was lurking over on the knot boards, god knows why, and I started feeling really bad about our reception theme choice. :confused3 Originally, I loved the idea of having a different disney movie for each table - I bought a whole bunch of figures on ebay and the other day I had a super melt down (take your pills already!:rotfl:) and was about to scrap the whole idea and figure out something a little more formal and less 12-year-old-birthday-party. :badpc:

After a stressful day at work, I came home to my disgirls and the theme was BACK ON! :woohoo: I found Managirl (Amanda)'s PJ and she posted pics of her engagement party theme and I fell in love with the idea all over again. She really made it classy and elegant and it didn't look at all like a cheesy birthday party. I can't thank her enough. I'm posting the pics below, only because I don't think she'll mind (if you do, please let me know and I will gladly take them down). I also put a link to her pj for those of you who want to check it out. I'm SO glad I found it and I can't count the number of times a disbride has saved me from jumping off a bridge.

Your invitations are beautiful! Love the color and the font you picked!

thank you so much! It was quite a debacle, as DF and I were at the store flipping through books and once we found it I said "now we have to pick a font" and he's like "the one that's on there is fine." Mr. Impatient... then I was like "How about this one?" and "Oh wait, I like this one better..." Finally he was like - it's just a font, Sheesh!! :confused3

Then I found the one we picked and he said, "oh, well, I guess that does make a difference." I wish there was a smiley sticking its tongue out! Silly DFs - don't pay any attention to details! :lmao:

or short women??? ::yes::

I was walking down the street and saw what I thought were two women holding hands. When I got closer I realized it wasn't two women, it was Iman and David Bowie!

Sorry, back to your TR!

I actually meant that the pictures were scaring me, a short woman (5')!

The Labyrinth gave me nightmares as a kid....I've been steering clear of this PJ since the convo shifted... :rotfl:

good point! lol. Although -- I'm wondering if we go to MNSSHP if we can sneak in our wedding attire! that would be the best of both worlds...even though we won't be "alone" in the park, we could still get a couple good shots....

I'm very excited to read your PJ....my DH and I got married on Halloween last year and we took everyone at our wedding to MNSSHP. As a side note- I don't know if you've found out this information yet or not....I kind of indirectly told my wedding planner of our plans to wear our wedding attire in the park and she said we wouldn't even get past the gate. Disney doesn't allow that cause they'd never make money on their MK photo shoots otherwise.

As another note- You're in great hands with Misty! She's fantastic....she works with her husband and they are so nice! If you'd like to see any of my pictures, please let me know....

OMG what an asset!! Please do!!! :woohoo: I asked my planner about the wed attire for MNSSHP also -- she pretty much told me no, except she did say it would be up to the CM at the gate...

 Yeah, that was the only day that we "could" have done it - or the 8th, but that's booked too. But its ok, just gives me another excuse to stay skinny and slip into my gown again! LOVE an excuse to visit disney!! :goodvibes
