View Full Version : How old do you need to be for Jedi Training?

My 6 year old daughter wants to do the Jedi training, but if she does it, my son (4 years old) will be crushed if he doesn't get to do it. Is 4 too little? Is he too young to get picked?
If he doesn't have a chance, I will probably not do it all, because of the problems it will cause later.

I've seen kids younger than 4 get picked. The master jedi usually picks one really little kid from the audience to use just for laughs. Make a sign for your kids (both of them) and they will most likely get picked together.

OP, just remember it's an event where kids are chosen, not something they automatically get to participate in. Sign or no sign, there's a possibility that neither of them will be chosen.
It's one of the reasons we haven't seen if DS wants to try it yet, because we weren't sure he would be OK if he had to stay on the sidelines.

First time there last year, we stopped here, we were the first people there (45 minutes early)...my poor kid parks himself right up front sitting on the concrete waiting...Didn't get picked. Kid was a little bummed.
A few months ago, we went again on our way to the exit and arrived 5 minutes before the show. When they were picking kids, I grabbed him and held him up high, he got picked. They pick quick and they call them by shirt color ("you in the orange shirt") so be ready to react quick in case another nearby kid thinks they got picked.
Getting there super early and getting your kid up front doesn't always guarantee anything. There also doesn't seem to be any particular area they focus on more when picking. But the sign thing is a great idea.
A friend of mine said they once spoke to a cast member before the show started and told him it was his birthday (and it really was). He ended up getting picked...don't know if that will always work or not.

My DD5 has watched the show 5 or 6 times with absolutely no interest in being picked because she is scared to fight Darth Maul. She says he looks scary and his teeth are ugly! She thinks Darth Vader is alright though. I played Star Wars Galaxies for quite some time and I was Imperial, so she didn't know he was a bad guy, lol.
Finally, about 2 months ago, she decided she was willing to try. She was super excited, jumped up and down the whole time with both arms raised and got picked. No sign, no star wars shirts, etc. She was the one he used for the joke about her smiling confusing Darth Vader. And she was lucky enough to fight Darth Vader. She loved it!
We have also seen the Aladdin & Jasmine storytelling 4 times, she has been Jafar twice and a guard once. So far, she has a good batting average.

There is no guarantee even with a sign, however, I haven't heard of anyone with a sign not getting picked. They really do work. :)
