/hi guys! I am going to have a safari theme party for my DS when he is 2 this september. I would love to have some posters from AK/AKL or any cool decorative items from there. I have friends going down in Sept that can pick it up from me. Does anyone remember seeing posters at the gift shop at AKL or AK, I am thinking about a Killimijaro Safari or something along those lines. Anyone see something like this? Thanks all!
Jennifer

The only thing I can remember is an expensive painting of the lodge in the AKL gift shop. I really can't remember any posters at either the AKL or AK, come to think of it, but hopefully your friends can find something. There are plenty of cool doo-dads in the shops that would make great party favors - AK pencils, stickers, cups, small toys...

It sounds like a strange suggestion, but you might want to check out the dollar store for decorations. My DS just went to a safari-themed birthday party this weekend, and they had terrific banners, streamers, plates and napkins that came from the Dollar Tree of all places.

Thanks for the input Maggi may! I was thinking about some of the cool vintage style posters/signs that they have around the park. It is no big deal but you know how it is when you get something in your head! I see that you are going to ALK for DS bday in sept, we went last year to wdw for ds bday in sept and it was so much fun! He was only one but he loved it all,now he just watches our photomovie cd and dances and laughs! I dont know if you are aware of this but it is very cool! We got it for free with a promotional code but I would have paid for it, Ds just loves it! A little ot I know but I just wanted to mention. I will check out the dollar store and I saw some stuff on oriential trading.

Could you have some posters made from photos of the AKL/AK? I know Wal-mart, etc makes them although I know they can take a week or so to get back, and I am not sure how much they cost, but it is a thought.

Good luck!

Oh yeah, I can definitely relate to how it is when you get something in your head, especially when it comes to birthday parties for the kiddos. I will definitely check out the photomovie cd. I also really agree that even when children are very young they can enjoy Disney, and having pictures is a great way to relive their memories. My DS is 3.5 yo now, and he loves looking at our WDW scrapbooks.

I have to share one more birthday idea...for DS's 3rd birthday party I went crazy at the toy store at Downtown Disney buying Disney Mr. Potatohead parts. I bought a couple of extra Potatohead bodies at Toys R Us, and then created a Make Your Own Potatohead Table at DS's party. Each child got to make one and take it home as party favor. It was a huge hit.

Will they ship something from the resort over the phone?

I believe so. You just have to call WDW Merchandising.

I tried that today but I guess my poster reuqest was too vague, they told me to try bush gardens!lol I really wanted to sneak in a little disney into the party with a few AK refrences. I guess that I will just hope Julie does a shopping episode there or that my friends will find something when they go in sept. If anyone here is going keep your eyes open for me! Thanks!
