Thanks!
We took the tour last summer but we just couldn't manage it financially. Now we've paid off some other stuff so we can use that money for DVC! :thumbsup2
We looked at resale listings all weekend and then decided today to just call the DVC guide we met before and see what he had to say. Everything lined up just the way we needed it to, so here we are! :goodvibes

CONGRATS!
We were thinking of buying one, but Chip keeps telling me that there is no point because we're just going to move to Orlando.
I'm game, but I need a really good job to replace my income here, as I am the one that makes the money and just moving isn't that easy when 75% of the family income is on you.

Sure! It might be a bit of a wait though, because we probably won't be at AKV until NEXT August! :rotfl2:
Catch us at OKW THIS August! :yay:

The logistics of moving leave me paralyzed. My job, DH's job, finding a decent school for DS, finding a nice place to live...too many things to worry about! :headache:
If we move there before our 50 years is up we will sell our points. ;)

Don't be jealous!
We are really excited. We got in on a deal where we had points for immediate use, so we cancelled the last 7 nights of our "room only" and changed over to using points. The room was already paid for so that money will be refunded and we'll put it towards our DVC purchase. :)
It would have been silly to pay cash for 16 nights worth of hotel when we knew we wanted to buy in. Now we are just being silly for 9 nights! :rotfl:

Well, I see it as a frugal move! :rotfl:
I am looking forward to the day when my medical bills are all paid off. I am then looking forward to the day when the car and the truck are paid off. Then, I am looking forward to the day when my credit cards are paid off, then, just maybe then, in say 6 years or so, I might be able to talk Corey into DVC. Well, truth be told, if she has her way, we will move to some place near Orlando before that, but I am on at the very least a 5 year plan to make that happen. I would love to have gastric bypass first. I can't tolerate the heat with all of this freakin' extra insulation.

Congratulations and Welcome Home!
We own at the Beach Club Villas. Scott bought into DVC before we met. Then we decided to move to the area and thought we wouldn't be able to use it very much. Boy were we wrong!
We've used our DVC point at Disneyland California, and TEN NIGHTS at the Hotel New York at Disneyland Paris (saved us over four thousand dollars on hotel rates versus comparable hotels in Paris for ten nights). We also spend the odd night here and there on property at WDW (like for Gay Days).
This year we're putting up my parents, siblings, and the "wedding party" at the Boardwalk Villas for our commitment ceremony weekend. (reception is at Atlantic Dance Hall, we can stumble back to our rooms) In addition to that, we're going on the 3-Day Disney Cruise for our Honeymoon the next weekend. All on DVC points!
Even as a local, it's great to be a DVC member!
:woohoo:
:thumbsup2 Congrats!
We bought at SSR and plan to add on when the Hawaii goes on sale. We travel to hawaii ever few years so we will make use of those points. :goodvibes

I need to print this and show it to DH so he won't think about getting rid of our DVC in the event that we ever move to FL! :rotfl2:
Thanks for all of the congrats! :goodvibes
I called today to see if we might be able to stay at AKV after all. They booked us for 3 of our 7 nights and we are waitlisted for the others. Nothing like staying in 4 different rooms! I'm sure it will be fine, even if we do have to stay in 4 different rooms. I would like to see OKW, but having our last 3 days at AKV will be terrific!
