Just wondering how many people return to the first place they have ever stayed? My first was the Contemporary. I was really young either 1st or 2nd grade. I cant remember. I was about 7 so that would make it 1976. But I could be off with that date, my parents are gone and my sister didnt go with us she was in college. I am returning to the Contemporary for the first time since than. Did your returning to your first place bring back memories? I am wondering what it will do for me.

first was the holiday inn out the back gate, and at the time, there was nothing else around it at all. And someone pooped in the pool while we were there
this was in fall of um.... 75 I think.
The first Disney hotel that I stayed at was Coronado Springs.
Second was the Boardwalk Inn. After that stay, I purchased into the DVC at the Boardwalk Villas.

My first hotel was Caribbean Beach. I liked it, but I didn't love it. Its too big for my taste. For a moderate, I prefer Port Orleans French Quarter.

First on property was the Caribbean Beach resort (not sure of the year .. 92? 93 maybe? - edit: Well my sig says 91 so that's probably it. lol). Before that we never stayed in the Orlando area so it was 'somewhere in Clearwater Beach'.
I've been back to CBR a few times since then. My husband and I actually stayed there for our honeymoon. A lot of the things I really remember doing that first trip, though, actually aren't there anymore (the parrots are gone from the island, the spot we used to eat in the food court is part of the restaurant now, etc). I guess those are memories it brings back but I'm not sure if they're good feelings associated with it...

Well...my very first visit to WDW was in 1985 and my friend and I stayed at this dive on International Drive that I think was called the World Inn (or maybe it was International Inn?). Anyway, we knew we were in trouble when we realized everyone at the front desk was complaining that none of the sheets had been changed between guests. So icky -- glad those days are over!
My first onsite hotel was SOG, first true Disney hotel was the Contempory (thanks to the remodel @ SOG). Since then we've stayed at Dixie Landings, Old Key West, Beach Club, Port Orleans French Quarter, and Pop Century. Lots of visits, and lots of wonderful memories. :goodvibes

:dance3: Our first place was POFQ 4 years ago. It was also the first time my dh, myself and my dd ever went to Disney. We have since fallen in  with Disney and have returned to the POFQ each time. We simply love the grounds and the size of that particular resort. We also enjoy the boat to DTD. However, we would never rule out visiting another resort in the future except maybe the CBR. We are not really beach goers. :dance3:

The Disneyland Hotel. August 1970, at the exact same time that the Yippies decided to invade Disneyland, "occupy" Tom Sawyer Island, and cause the park to shut down.
Other than that, it was a lovely visit.

My parents took us out of school :scared1: (and see I turned out all right! ;) )
the last week of April in 1980. I was in the 8th grade and we stayed at the Polynesian. My dad still has the hand written room receipt. They paid $60 a night. It was an amazing trip. I still remember it very well. I was terrified to ride Space Mountain, but I did...3 times in a row. :goodvibes

We stayed there many more times as I was growing up. My first Disney Hotel as an adult with my own family was All Star Sports. I've never been back there.

Our first trip in 92 we stayed off site (can't remember the hotel) in Kissimmee. 93 we stayed in the Knights Inn on International Dr.(Icky)
Then in 94 we got smart and stayed at the Caribbean Beach (it was a value resort then).
Between 95and 2002 we stayed at All Star Sports and Music, Ft Wilderness Campgrounds, Corando Springs, Port Orleans (before they joined together) and Animal Kingdom Lodge ($89 a night Savanna view!).
In 2002 we joined DVC, so add to the list Saratoga Springs, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Vero Beach and Hilton Head. Oh, I forgot, last May we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel.
Did you get all that? We have been so many times, we have lost count.
(Not that I am bragging or anything) :)

Sounds just like my story. We got out of school, my Dad had some conference to attend in Orlando. It was 1978, we stayed at the Polynesian. Mom still has the receipt, $75 a night. I didn't go back until last September for my 20th anniversary.

My first visit we stayed at teh Contemporary, North Wing. Which is sadly now gone. It was 1975 and I was 14. Since then, have stayed in North wing, South Wing and Tower. The CR does havea that special feel because it was what formed my first impressions. The Fiesta Fun Center had the most indelible mark and I am glad I got to see it a few times before it was removed. Still getr a special feeling when the monorail enters and exits. So cool. :thumbsup2

First trip to WDW was January 1972 and I had just turned 7. We couldn't get into a Disney hotel, so we stayed off-site. I don't remember the name of the hotel, but it was fairly small and had beautiful landscaping all around it.
Second trip was around 1974/1975 and we stayed at the Golf Resort. The pool was being worked on, so they let us use the Poly's pool.
We went again in late 1976 and I think we stayed at the Golf Resort again (but it may have been renamed to the Disney Inn by then)
My parents were Disney'ed out by then (seems strange to me, but true!) so we did not return until the year Epcot opened. We spent one full day (park open to park close) at Epcot, but it was part of a general Florida trip and we didn't stay on site.
I didn't get back until I convinced DH we should go to disney for our Honeymoon - HIS first WDW hotel is the GF! Thankfully, he got hooked on Disney also (after only coming to the World just to humor me! :thumbsup2 ) so we have been many, many, many times since then.
My DS9's first WDW hotel was Dixie Landings and he was only 6 weeks old, so he probably doesn't remember that trip! The kid has actually been to WDW 18 times during his 9 years (not to mention the 3 DCL cruises).
Little did my parents know what they were starting back in January 1972!

Gosh-it was some chain hotel, but I haven't got a clue. My first (and to this date last) trip was in 1987. However, I do remember the mini-golf courses at Pirate's Cove. I got a hole-in-one in the one shaped liked Mickey's head :goodvibes Funny how I can remember small things like that :lmao:

First resort I stayed at was the Contemporary back in the Summer 1975. We stayed in the South Wing because staying in the main building was way more then my folks could afford. I think it was ~ $60/night. They also had to buy a new car so we could get down there.

Add me to the first trip class of 1976!
We drove from Canada & I have no idea where we stayed but seem to remember nothing but Days Inn all the way. (when we didn't spend the night in the car in a rest stop.)
My first stay on property was 1999 - Caribbean Beach. I went back there this January and enjoyed it much more this time. (Roof construction on your honeymoon NOT fun!)
DD's first trip was exactly 30 years after my first trip - 2006 - we stayed at All Star Music. On the way home she asked if we could try Sports next time. We didn't - the Poly is now the family favourite. :goodvibes

September 1983 we stayed in one of the old Fort Wilderness trailers, we spent 8 nights at the cost of $95.00 @ night. We had such a great time, it was my DW and I, along with my mom, my youngest brother(11 at the time), also joining us in the cabin was my grandmother and her sister. We have stayed at Fort Wilderness several times since then and really enjoy staying there.
We have also stayed at, Old Key West, All Star Music, All Star Sports and Pop Century since our first trip in '83, and went to Vero Beach Resort in 2002. Now, we mainly cruise on DCL, but are planning at stay at Old Key West in the coming months.

It was the Disney Inn. My husband (who was not my husband at the time) and I were visiting his parents in Sebastian, Florida (which is now really close to the Vero Beach resort - it wasn't there then). And we thought, we're in Florida, let's go to Disney world. So we called (being very naieve at the time) and the only room available was one room, one night at the Disney Inn. And - the Disney Bug got us and we've been back probably every years since then. Like the previous poster, never to the Disney Inn because shortly after that it made the transition to Shades of Green.
We've also stayed at All Star Movies (with the grandkids), Port Orleans Riverside, Caribbean Beach, Beach Club, Yacht Club and now we're DVC members and the Beach Club Villas are our home resort, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom lodge, Old Key West - I think that's it - we've never stayed in a Monorail resort or the Grand Floridian.

First trip was 1975ish, I was all of 13/14, we stayed in the Contemporary. Awesome memories.
Second trip was the Disney Inn, probably 2 years or so later. Nice but not as nice.
The best trip I have ever been on is when we stayed in the Wilderness Lodge on opening day, in fact we still have the lithograph they gave us of the Lodge. At that time they burned real wood in the fireplaces, it smelled oh so nice but it did mess with my allergies (which is why they went to gas or so I've been told).
Every time I return to the Contemporary or the Wilderness I really feel the memories. We always have to go to/pass through/eat at these hotels, a trip is not complete unless we do.

The first Walt Dinsye World hotel that I stayed in was All Star Music. I personally loved it there, and still do. No, we didn't go back an stay there but that's only because the Polynesian is so pretty.
I still remember my very first time at a WDW resort. That was actually my very first trip and I was only 8 years old. So exciting. Now, i'm 17 and I still remember the day that we drove under the Welcome to WDW sign.

My first on property stay was at All Star Sports this past February. We loved being on property after spending the last three years in an off property villa.
While the villas do have their advantages, their is nothing quite like staying on Disney property no matter what level of resort.
When we go down this August we will he staying in the surfs up section of All Star Sports for four nights then we head off on a three night Wonder cruise.

My first Disney trip ever was in 1972, with my parents and sister. Parents did not want to pay for the outrageously priced Contemporary or Poly (what was it then- maybe 35 a night?!), so we stayed at an off-site Sheraton. I have no idea which one it was, or if it's still there- but I do remember that there was actually empty space between us and Disney - what a different era that was, and I wish I could remember more.
First trip to a Disney hotel was in 1995, when I went with my husband and daughter - we stayed at the Poly.

We stayed off property more times than I can remember. My grandma loved all the monorail resorts in the 80s but grandpa wouldn't stay there! So we happily bedded down in Kissimmee.
But, my first experience on property was Port Orleans, before they made Dixie Landings Riverside and PO-French Quarter. It was also my first time having a bignet, due to the breakfast at PO.
After that I was hooked. Even when my grandparents travel down there now they won't stay off property. Grandma loves the All-Stars. Next up on our list is Board Walk Villas. I have wanted to stay there for almost a decade!

I was two years old (1973), and my parents went down to Disney for a conference. We stayed in the South Garden Wing in the Contemporary. I love looking at the pictures because the MK looks deserted. My first Disney Hotel to stay in was the Beach Club. It was my family's first ever trip to WDW and thought it might be our last as my wife wasn't wild about the whole WDW idea in the first place. So I stayed first class to try and impress her. It worked. We've been back many times since and have stayed at Moderate or Value resorts to save a bit of money. I'm ready for a Deluxe Hotel on my next stay. Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian here we come...well sometime soon I hope.

Hubby and I got a great deal on a package Disney called "Jolly Holidays". They were really trying to get people into the parks in early December.
We stayed 5 days in the South Garden Wing at the Contemporary, with 5 day tickets, and the jolly holiday dinner show for $900.00. (This was 1994.)
Disney didn't publish that package in their travel brochure again, but we stopped by the travel agent every year to get the brochure and dream.
We finally broke down and paid $2k+ when we went back in 2002.

Hi everyone: my first trip to WDW was 1975 and we stayed at the
Polynesian. It was great back then and in many ways better. The tourists
were fewer and everything was more easy going. You could actually swim in the lake. They had part of the lake roped off for swiming. You could attend
your particular church service at the cove which was convenient for us.
We could watch the kids swim in the pool from our patio and not worry.
We had a 12 year old son at the time and he could be on his own around
the resort with no worry. We are DVC owners now and mostly stay at
OKW but I still remenber the good old days with River Country, and all
the rest. Yes I still love everything about WDW but the old days were
good.

We never stayed onsite until 2002- my mom was attending a confrence and we got to stay at Coronado Springs. We stayed at POFQ on our next trip, then Pop in 2005. We have gone back to offsite hotels since then, but I hope to stay onsite again soon. My dream resort would be the Boardwalk, followed by the Poly. I just can't bring myself to spend the $$ for onsite resorts right now, though.

It was 1993. I was 14, and we stayed at Dixie Landings. My parents loved it so much that we only ever stayed there on family trips. I went back with DH and some extended family for a trip last year and had so much fun! I'll always think of it as Dixie Landings; it brings back such great memories from my first WDW trip!
I won;t list all the visits but I first went to Disney World in june of 82. for my honeymoon. Been back many times over the next 25 years and have enjoyed them all. It is hard to say one is my favorite over the others but last year went with my travel group and my kids. It was a very special trip since we also took a cruise( 5 curises so far) and it was the first with just my kids and me. We would try to get down there at least 2 times a year and enjoy the different season. Each trip we find something new that we didn;t know or most likely never paid attention too. I have stayed at almost every resort except pop and fort wilderness. I actually remember River country. lol I find the whole place a magical place where worries and stress of every day leave and you can just relax. I think as my kids get older I enjoy it more since they are able to experience the full range of things.
So I have a magical day everyday thinking about a return trip and there is no place I would rather go.

Was All-Star Sports for me, about a week after it opened.
Was Polynesian back right after it opened for my mother though.

First, I believe was Fort Wilderness. Second, Port Orleans French Quarter. Third AllStar Sports. Enjoyed them all. Stayed offsite a number of times. may cost a little more on site, but I think it's worth it. Particularly if you have a camper. I think I enjoyed that the best. You had more freedom to move around with little extars you don;t get at the motels.:thumbsup2 I would like to try one of the MK hotels. may be next time.

Although we went as early as 1974 (my parents and I) and a few times between then and my honeymoon in the spring of 1994, none of those stays were on-property.
My first on-site stay was our honeymoon in March 1994 (we were married in October 1993 - but I was teaching then so no time off) was at Dixie Landings (Port Orleans Riverside - but it will ALWAYS be Dixie Landings to us!)
We've gone back at least per year and have never stayed off-site! (We finally bought DVC.)

Poly was the first. I am trying to stay at different resorts each time.

My first Disney Hotel was Port Orleans FQ back before the two resorts became one. It was our first time in WDW and Florida. Wow, what a first impression. Loved it.

Our first Disney hotel was the Coronado Springs the Christmas after it opened. We surprised our kids with a trip the week before Christmas. I remember the cast member who checked us in, a young gentleman named Dane. It must have been really obvious that we were on property for the first time - we were all so excited. Later that day, we came back to our room to find a beautiful pine arrangement with a Mickey & Minnie ceramic statue in the center. That statue has become a very important part of our annual Christmas decor, a reminder of the first of many wonderful cast members! Thanks, Dane!

My first time staying on property was at the Beach Club and we've been back there a number of times since. But I don't like to stay at the same place everytime - I like to spread it around! I've never stayed at the Poly but I'd really like to once of these times!

Animal Kingdom Lodge---just after it opened---with room rates of $79 per night---it was a special promo that my DBF found and she convinced me (THANKS!) that this was a real treat---so we all went and what a nice start! Of course, our next trip had to be HOJO's---appreciated AKL all the more!

My first stay on property was Dixie Landings in '97 for my honeymoon. I have never stayed off property since then, and I have never returned to POR. I have been too busy trying to visit all the other resorts. And now that we are DVC, it will be a very long time before we return to POR.

First Disney stay was at the Disney Golf Resort, now Shades of Green, WAY back in the early 80's. :) It was a really, really nice place, and, from what I, and our pictures bring to memory, very large as far as rooms go. I've stayed at numerous Disney resorts since, and have yet to have such a nice room.
My first was CR in 76 I believe... I was 12 if I have the year right. Anyway I went back in 1990 with DH for one night during our honeymoon. We didn't really honeymoon in Disney but were in Fla and I convinced DH to drive up (from Sanibel Island) for a night at Disney. Since then, have brought my kids to WDW 3x and have stayed at Sports, but always check out CR while were there, having breakfast at Chef Mickey's is a must. CR is definitely a sentimental favorite of mine but really don't want to pay the price to stay there.

my first stay onsite was in 1992 .. I was 16 and it was me, mom, dad, and my younger sister. We had gone to Disney once before but stayed at a holiday inn or something.
This time we stayed at CBR and I loved it! I remember parking the car (we drove from texas to wdw) and walking up to the main lobby... I heard the steel drum music and started dancing around pretending I was really on an island vacation  and I remember my dad laughing at me. The next year I talked 2 girlfriends into going to wdw with me as a high school graduation gift for ourselves and guess where we stayed? CBR!!
I haven't been back to that particular resort since then but it certainly has many great memories for me.

My first trip was in 2000 and we stayed at Dixie Landings. DW (DGF @ the time) was a bit of a Disney expert at that point, so we decided to stay a) somewhere affordable and b) somewhere she had never been before. We loved it there, but my quest now is to stay at all of the resorts. We got a little hooked on the Dolphin (teacher's rate is an incredible deal) but we are again staying at Disney resorts - BCV and WL for the upcoming trip.

My 1st trip was in 1998. DH was going down for Lotusphere. His company wanted to put him in some off-site hotel (when the conference was on site - how dumb are they!?). I said, "No way!" to the off site deal and booked us at CBR. :thumbsup2

I was just a kid (70's) but it was either the CR or the Poly. I stayed at both on separate visits. I just can't remember which one was actually FIRST. BTW, I preferred the CR as a kid. (I think I still do but haven't stayed at either one since then.)

My first trip was in '73 or '74. Our whole family (mom,dad,6 kids, and two brothers in law) drove from St. Louis.
We stayed in the Disney Village in a couple of the condo units. I don't remember very much of that trip; I think I was about 7.
The next big trip with the family (about double the size this time), we stayed in the treehouses. We had 3 of them for our huge family! I loved those treehouses! I can't wait to stay in one again (hopefully)! Just floating by them on the waterway to DD brings back great memories!

Technically I can't really return to the first on property resort that I visited. My first resort experence was in August of 1994 when I was 12 years old (this wasn't my first time visiting WDW, but it was the first time staying at a resort on property). We sayed at Dixie Landings. I know that the resort itself is still there, but its not part of Port Orleans Riveside.

My first stay at WDW was at the Contemporary Resort. It was 4 so that would put it in 1986. Have been inside the Contemporary since then, but will return officially this November on my honeymoon! I predict many flashbacks.

Our first Op resort was Carribean Beach Resort in 1998. We have returned another time to CBR but we've visited more often at BC/YC. We really love the pool and atmosphere there.

My first stay on property was at Fort Wilderness, I believe it was 1984 and I haven't returned as an adult. Before that we would stay off property at a hotel I think was called the High Q on International Drive.
We also stayed at the High Q on International Drive the first time we went in 1977. It was a round hotel with pie shaped rooms We were 5 to a room- the last one in had to shut off the lights and climb over everyone else to get to bed.

My very first Disney trip i was actually still in the womb! (But im going to bet i even loved it then!!!) :goodvibes Anywho, as a child, we went every single year, only skipping 3 years here or there. But my family was fortunate enough to drive the long 16 hour drive from Northern Kentucky to the Sunshine state, but we could never stay on property. :sad1: Either they thought it was too expensive, or never researched to find out :confused3 , so my first time being on Property was July 2006 in All Star Sports, and i will NEVER go offsite again! :yay: I've been paying my way to Disney for 3 years now (only 20, will be 21 in October) and i love every second of saving my cash to see the mouse!! lol. Will be there in September for 10 days with DBF to stay at All Star Music, and last summer we stayed at POP! :lovestruc I just LOVE disney!

Since I'm from the West Coast, most of my Disney trips have been to California. We always stayed off property there, until 2001 we stayed at the Grand Californian and in 02' the Disneyland Hotel. Both great trips.
In 2004 I visited WDW for the first time :cheer2: and my sister and I stayed at the POFQ and loved it!
The California hotels are really nice, but for an immersive Disney stay, you can't beat the Disney properties in Florida!
