 We had to change our reservation to a week later for September. We will now be staying at Coronado Springs vs POFQ. Can you really eat at Pepper Market Coronado Springs as a counter service restaurant?
And if so, what can you order?
I looked at the DDP thread and saw the only restriction as a tier 1 dessert. This does seem too good to be true though.
If anyone has eaten there, how is the food?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Pepper Market is a CS. The only restriction concerns the desserts. Most dining plan users consider Pepper Market a CS bargain.

I think the food is outstanding! I love that they have several different stations so you can order a completely different meal every day.. Mexican one day, Asian another, Italian the next.. my family has a hard time picking a restaurant at the parks because we don't like the same foods so the PM was great for us.
I recommend anything from the Mexican station- especially the wet burrito and fajitas. We actually shared 2CS credits between the 3 of us last trip and it helped stretch them out so we had an extra day's worth at the end. They also have yummy smoothies that count as the beverage!

We love the Pepper Market too. DD loves steak and she could have that as a CS credit. It doesn't get better than that :thumbsup2

We were there in Dec. You can use ddp. Portions are really big. I shared most meals with one of my kids. DH liked the rib eye, DS liked the pizza, DD and I both liked everything, :rotfl: . Pepper Market was our favorite CS.
Have a nice trip. Give PM a try!!

I am glad others have good reports for you on the Pepper Market. We did not enjoy it at all. :( The stuff they call Mexican food was DISGUSTING!!!! The burgers were like the burgers found at other CS restaurants. The muffins and cookies were nothing special. The tea was very good though. Has a melonish taste to it.
The servers were rude everytime we went in there and they seemed offended at the $4 tip for bringing two cups of tea they never had to refill.
I hope your service and food is a lot better. :)

Thank you so much for all the information!! I am so excited to be staying there as our group consists of me, my daughter, my grandson 3 and my grandson who will be 6 mos. old. This will make our vacation so much more enjoyable!! Thank you all!!
VMK_Mouse, thank you for posting. I am so sorry you didn't enjoy it. I know I am picky about my mexican food, so would probably avoid that part of the establishment!
DreaminDisney, I'mwithGrumpy, fall08CP and TDC Nala I would also like to thank you all for answering my questions!! You rock!!

Whats the deal about the desserts???????????

My understanding is that there are tiers of desserts. With the DDP you can only pick from tier 1. What the tiers are or what they include, I have no idea about...
Maybe some of the experts can enlighten us!!
I'm just excited about all the entrees they have!!

Desserts at the Pepper Market include: muffins, danishes, cinnamon buns, ice cream, a small apple pie-like dessert, and small fruit cups (strawberries, pineapples, melons). Some people who sat near us got the muffins and danishes and took them with them for breakfast the next day.
And you can get the steak with the dining plan!
Cafe Rix, also at Coronado, is another great choice. The one problem I had there was that it wasn't clear what was and wasn't dessert (e.g., grapes were considered dessert, but not strawberries), and what the snacks were. But, the cast members were helpful.

Yes, it's hard to believe based on some of their serving sizes, but PM is indeed a Counter Service! DH and I stayed at CSR for our honeymoon and were pleasantly surprised with the offerings. We ended up eating there several times! Enjoy!!

We found the desserts included to be fine. We also did the "save it for tomorrow's breakfast" routine. ;) The first time my 7 year old went to choose his dessert, he came back with happiness and said, "Mom! They have cookies as big as your face!" :yay:

We went this last March for the first time. I had read on here that it was worth a trip over to this resort. We had never been to this resort and was very much surprised how big it was. The first time we went to the Pepper Market we had the fajitas. We asked what was best the chicken or the beef and she said she liked the mix. We all ordered that and it was very good. So good that we went back in a few days with our boys. 2 of us tried the chinese and the rest had the fajitas. Also, one of the kids also got a pizza which was very good. Everyone loved the fajitas but not so much the chinese. The meat was tough and I don't like to have to chew it.

I've stayed at CSR for the last 3 years and only the steak is really a bargin and it's only a bargin based only disney steak prices lol, beside that I have no idea why people keep bringing this place up like its that best thing ever and wow its really only 1 cs. True there is a varity of choices and some are very good, but it's what I would expect at a mod resort/non park CS. ALso with so many post about how great this place is and wow and stuff, I have been waiting for disney to close it and change it like they did to the tusker house.

How sweet!! Out of the mouths of babes!!!
Bluslag thank you for posting. I always feel that fajitas are a good/safe thing to order!! They usually are very "forgiveable"!!
WDisnut I think the reason I felt that way was that after purusing menus (this will be my first trip to WDW) I was surprised at the variety available there. Also the prices are quite high compared to most of the counter service restaurants. Therefore it surprised me! Can't judge if it is good/bad as I have not been there yet. Thank you for your opinion, I appreciate it.

Thick Prime Rib and baked potato and a vegetable as a counter service? You can't go wrong there.

My thoughts exactly, when I saw the menu!;)

We had it at least three times, once as a midnight snack after we ate dinner too early. Mmmm. It was good prime rib, too.

Best CS in WDW, IMHO. Having said that, calling something "Best CS in WDW" is kind of like calling something "the tallest mountain in Kansas." It's a relative thing. ;)
If I were staying there, I'd definitely eat CS there, but I don't think I'd make a special trip to CSR just to eat there.
Here are PM dining reviews (with pics) from our 06 trip.

We always stay elsewhere, but go to Pepper Market a couple times, if you are staying there, it is a great home CS. It is Variety Variety variety, I have 4 boys, and they always find something that makes them happy!

Thank you mpls_mm, I'm glad you enjoyed it and figure we may be doing that also on the days we have mid day big meals (then share a meal at PM).
Praying Colonel, I appreciate you taking the time to post here and I bookmarked your TR after reading the sections you sent me too because it gave me so much information and I can't wait to read the rest!! Awesome!
Thank you very much!
Thank you odaddy! I agree that the variety is awesome.
I just hope they don't make additional changes to the DDP there and that you can still order anything on the dining plan in December!! Thank you for your responses!

Your right about the Tusker House thing!! I recall eating there when it was a CS place too, I think! Pretty sure. To good of a deal for people. Disney will want to make more money.
