Hey Gang
Just received some insider info that Walt Disney World and McDonalds are ending their partnership for 'in park' food. The 'free standing' McDonalds locations at DTD and the one by the All Stars are not affected by thism but the one's in the park (e.g. fries in AK) will be coming to an end.
I do not have an official date on when this will happen but my source tells me 'soon'.
This does not affect any other relationships Disney and McDonalds may have at this time (i.e. cross promotional movie deals, etc) - just the in park locations that serve McDonalds foods.

Wow, it's an end of an era! This would explain some of the changes in the food, possibly. I for one am happy to see Disney offering healthier food options.
Just don't take away my McDonald Toys. :scared1:
Are they trying to do away with "sub-par food at outrageously expensive prices"? Only time will tell.

In a way I am kinda relieved. Every time I would see "There's Gold In Them Thar Fries" I would instantly get a craving for McDonald's fries in the middle of Frontierland! And then I would smell them in AK and be right back to where I started! popcorn::
It was kind of a nice break from MKs counter service fries so I dunno. Guess I am torn.

Thanks for the info, John. In a way I'm relieved. I won't have to listen to my kids begging me for fries :rotfl:
I hope they don't take away the movie promotion stuff though. I let my kids get "Happy Meals" just so I can get the Disney toys....Does that make me a bad mom? :confused3

Exactly. Give us some Mouseburgers and Duckfries that we can yearn for when we're not there and complain about when we are.

I have never been able to understand why (at least here in Richmond, Va) that we have a Macdonalds in every hospital around!
Great food for heart patients;)

How about the commercial where the "King" is looking through some poor guys bedroom window first thing in the morning holding a hamburger! That has got to be against the law. Can you say restraining order.

I think the King is way creepy just standing there not saying anything at least Ronald doesn't have a plastic face!!!!
Thanks for the info John.
I had heard McDonald's was removing their food from Restaurantausaurus, but now it's everywhere else.
I assume the attraction sponsorships will stay in place; i.e. dinosaur and The Boneyard. I hope so because I would hate to see those attractions degraded because of lack of sponsorship.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Disney removing transfats from the parks? It seems that is the first thing that comes to my mind anymore when I hear Disney is removing a particular food or brand of food from the parks.

Same here! Mc Donalds and Dunkin Doughuts. They made a BIG deal about how they banned smoking anywhere on their property, how they were looking out for the health of their patients and employees, but hey, come on in and have a Big Mac, some fries and a couple doughnuts for dessert! :rotfl:

Better than our hospitals in Herts that don't even have A&E's! I'd gladly have a Mc Donalds if we could have our A&E back!
I heard about this ages ago, or was that something different? I got told they had ended the partnership with McDonalds for toys, but still did fries but were gradualy phasing that out.
Its in my essay and everything!

I only read the first page of responses, but from them I guess that most of you don't have young children. Traveling is stressful. Children find comfort in the familiar.
Personally, I don't give a hang whether McDonalds goes out of business entirely. I'd eaten there maybe half a dozen times in the 33 years prior to having children.
My kids, tho, love the place. They love the food, love the playplaces, love the video games, love the environment. When we travel crosscountry it is comforting them to know that whatever else may come their way, they can count on McDonalds to be McDonalds.
I would guess this is ALL about money and has nothing to do with Disney deciding to become the food police.

Yes, as far as I can tell they are now doing slightly more healthy food, with slightly smaller portions... but still at outrageously expensive prices (you'll be relieved to know that last bit won't be changing in a hurry).

In NC, UNC Hospitals has a Wendy's that was packed the last time I was there. Seems like they had another fast food place as well.
Dukes Children's Hospital has a Hardee's at least I think it was a Hardee's in the basement. Dukes main cafeteria had some pretty decent Sushi.
I did not like to see McD's at Magic Kingdom. Just not right.
But I sure like the burgers they had in AK over near the Dino Ride that scared the heck out of DD8.

I'm glad that the one in Downtown Disney is staying though, my friend and I are hoping to take her son, and Mcnuggets are his favorite treat. Although, he hasn't had a Mickey Bar yet.

I can live with the "Just In The Park" decision. I like going to the McDonalds by the All Star Resorts.

Whoa! did someone say DQ fries?
We are switching all of our deep fat frying preps to be transfat free...which has not been an easy process. We've done tons of testing on various liquids...but we think we have the correct blend now. And I don't think DQ is ready to partner with The Mouse quite yet. We are to busy working on the upcoming CMN (Children's Miracle Network) events and a new item called..."thin mint girl scout cookie blizzard"....to worry about or fries going to the Mouse. Plus, the CEO is stepping down the end of June and the new guy that will be running the show loves NASCAR but doesn't have any feelings either way about the Mouse. I can see us sponsoring a race car, first. Unless the mouse is willing to make a sizeable donataion to CMN...then maybe John Gainor would talk to Disney. (the new CEO for Dairy Queen is HUGE into helping children and an advocate for all of the good work thta gets done in children's hospitals around the world).
Just a little insight from an employee......

Interesting!
I've never eaten the McD's in the parks anyway, when I am on vacation, I try not to eat anyplace I can readily eat at, at home. That goes for my kids too.
I don't think they have any clue that there is McDonald's fries in the parks, even though they love their happy meals at home.
