Just for the heck of it, I was checking out the Northwest website for prices for our August trip. The prices have usually been around $250+. Well, today I hit the jackpot! $136 each!!!! This is from Detroit to Orlando non-stop. I have never paid less than $150, and that fare was many years ago. I am SO excited!! If you have a trip coming up - you might want to check them out! :D :D :D :D :D :D

You are so lucky!!! I have a Dec trip and out of MSP, we get nothin' but high prices - I am sure you know the feeling - I checked as soon as I saw your post and still the cheapest flights (with BAD arrival and departure times) was $287. My ideal flights are still $373 PER PERSON! Yuck. I will probably end up going with the charter flight, but dang! I woudl love $136 per person.

It's for August 19 - 26, Monday to Monday. The strange thing is this: just for kicks, I checked on the same flights for only one passenger, not two that are going, and was quoted $256. Only $16 more for the second passenger? Hey, I don't ask questions - I just booked it! ;)

Thanks, I just booked 6 for $136.50 for Labor Day (Detroit to Orlando).
To get the cheap rate, you have to book an even number of passenger.

Sounds like they are matching Southwest Air's "bring a companion for free" deal which is currently running... you just pay taxes for the second person....

What a bummer!!!:( I bought my tickets from their website a month ago at $264......now they're $167!!!!!! Would it be worth it to cancel my original tickets and buy these new ones????

Kitty- Northwest charges $100 to change a plane ticket (robbery!), so you would be losing money. :(

You can call northwest, and they should issue you a voucher for the difference. I did this last year when I bought @ $270, and they dropped to $135, they issued me a voucher for $135. The exact same flight must be available. I used these vouchers this year to pay for the tickets I bought this year (3 or them, the others were frequent flier miles)... Basically I got 3 "free" flights this year (yes I paid them the money last year). But at least it gave me satisfaction on the price I paid last year. Assuming the same flights were available, you could get $100 per ticket in vouchers for a future flight.
