We've just returned from a Miami / Keys trip flying from / to Heathrow Terminal 5 :)
In our experience, T5 was fantastic - a huge improvement on the older terminals. Admittedly, I might not be quite so enthusiastic if I'd had to endure delays and lost luggage :confused3 , but I can only speak as I find, and it was truly stunning.
Hope this helps allay any worries for others with upcoming flights from T5 :hippie:

Great news, I used to work for the contractor that built T5 and it was a huge job!

Hi Hilary - welcome back:laundy: ;)
How did you enjoy Miami and the Keys?
Good, thanks, Annie :) I have to admit that 'Miami and the Keys' is probably a bit misleading - we flew in/out of Miami and had the first night in a hotel near Miami airport but, apart from that didn't actually go into Miami, despite our vague plan to drive past some Art Deco architecture, if nothing else!
We had 3 nights in Islamorada - a very nice, very comfortable, nothing swanky, resort right on the Gulf - ( Coral Bay Resort (http://www.coralbayresort.com/)). Then we went down to Key West for 2 nights - definitely worth visiting, and even whackier than I'd expected! Last 4 nights at Delray Beach (just north of Boca Raton) in a resort that was in a great location on the beach and felt vaguely like something from The Brady Bunch ( Wright by the Sea (http://www.wbtsea.com/index.htm))!
In all, a very relaxing time - just what DH and I wanted! :hippie:
Always good to read a positive post
T5 had so much bad press when things went so wrong at its opening, but it's never going to make the headlines when everything is going according to plan, so I thought it was worth mentioning :)

Avoid T5 and BA
They lost my luggage. I didn't receive them yet.
Cheap building, poor management, a lot of employees doing nothing everywhere.
The worst experience of my life.

Avoid T5 and BA
Cheap building,
Hmm 4.3 BILLION I wouldn't call that cheap.
It's a shame that you have had a bad experience. Hopefully T5 will improve with time - Hillary I am glad that you enjoyed your trip. We went to the Keys in 04 and to be honest I preffered Miami, which we only had a fleeting stop in too. Next time though I would make more time available for Miami it was lovely!
