I want to change my boring avatar. For some reason I can't get it to
change though.
I want this...........

Can anyone give me a step by step....I'm not normally a computer doofus, but I can't figure out how to do this for some reason.

It will need to be resized as well.

Ok, now I am avatar-less. (I feel naked ) I found the pic in Photobucket, I got the image link, copied it, it looks right, but when I try to add it as my avatar here a page comes up with a box that says "invalid file"

That's because it's too big to use as an avatar. You need to copy it, resize it, save it somewhere on the web where you can link to it, and use that new URL. Do you have a Photobucket account yourself?

I am having problems too. I want a different picture, from photobucket, for my avatar but have followed these directions but I get the same thing, invalid file. I even made sure I resized it.

The second one is slightly larger and probably want make the 100 x 100 cut off for avatars.
I shrunk it to avatar size for you, but it doesn't look very clear now.

You'll have to shrink it further, I'm afraid...just a little too large.

You are so right! I just tried to test the smaller one. While it fits in terms of "size", it exceeds the byte limit (like I have a clue what that is..think it has to do with pixels.) Anyway to make it meet the byte limit, the avatar would have to be reeeeeaaaly tiny.
