WCC is a lot of fun. You do need a reservation and I would request when you get there to be in the "main" dining area....you don't want to miss the antics:goodvibes
You can go to DTD and take a bus to WL.
Or hop on the 1st park bus that comes and change there for a WL bus.
If you go to M.K....there is a boat to the WL.
Happy Planning

Loved it!!! :thumbsup2
Raucus antics (as alldiz) alluded to! Unexpected events happen all the time!!! Good food as well.
I'd make ADR's to be safe.
alldiz has you on the right track for transportation!
We're going there on our next trip in June, will include brief meal reviews in my TR.

I'd plan it so you were at the MK that day and then take the boat over from the MK to WL. Those boats are dedicated and we've never waited longer than 10 minutes for them.

We took my in-laws there the last morning, before driving them to the airport. It was the highlight of the trip! My FIL just LHAO :lmao:
And the food is good and filling and plentiful. Order the skillet and you won't need lunch.

We love WCC!:lovestruc
BUT...
You have to be of the right personality to appreciate all of the goings-on. We went for my son's 5th B-Day last June and several family members (on DW's side) did not like all the rowdy behavior and kidding around. Luckily, we do go for such things, and will most likely return again on our next trip. The all you can eat BBQ for dinner tasted good and is a good value if you are a big eater.
2 others things that you should do while there, hide a particular color of crayon from the kids at your table and have them ask the server for that color. Also, mention one of the other Orlando theme parks (SeaWorld / Universal). The servers LOVE that.
This guy ask for the ketshup!!..smjj

A few years ago we walked in here without any idea of what was going on. It was fantastic. You've got me laughing and remembering again!
Make sure someone orders Pepsi.

When we took my in-laws, we didn't tell them what was going to happen.
And the waitress at the next table was really INTO it. When someone asked for napkins, she brought over a TON and threw them like confetti into the air. And after a minute, my father-in-law caught on and he just had a blast watching it all unfold. :rotfl:

Having posted on this thread already and reading all subsequent posts, I started wondering...
Was the intention to always have Whispering Canyon be such a rowdy dining experience? Is that the way that it was "imagineered" from the beginning? Any long time WCC diners here know? :confused3

All I know is that it is too noisy for me. It really makes the lobby of the WL noisy, too.

We were there several years ago. Ds asked for a refill on his glass of water - after walking the parks. The server brought him a huge jar of water with a 3 foot straw. He then directed the other guests to take notice of the kid with the big jar of water. He then added, "If you see him in the pool, get out!!!":lmao: :lmao:

can someone tell me more specifically what goes on here? like with asking for ketchup? or mentioning the other parks? I think I might like to go here and not tell anyone in my family about it.. but my mom gets embarrassed easily and sometimes doesn't like a lot of attention. I'd like to know exactly what they do so I can maybe decide if it would be too much for her or not. thanks! now my dad on the other hand would probably just play along no matter what! ;)
thanks so much!

We had dinner there in January for the first time and had a great time! I knew from passing thru the lobby that it was noisy but didn't know WHY until we went. We caught onto the ketchup thing real quick and did not ask for any. A kid at the next table brought a bottle over to our table and set it down by DS and walked away.:confused3 A few minutes later he told our server that DS STOLE their ketchup!:rotfl: OMG. Next thing ya know DS was behind bars for being a thief! :rotfl2: That's another production!!:lmao:

It is definitely a fun atmosphere. It was not our best meal ever, but it was OK. (Boma at AKL is better if you're looking for good food...but if you're looking for a fun place for the kids Whispering Canyon is great!). Wilderness Dad had a great suggestion...take the boat there from MK!
Luna99 - if you ask for ketchup your server will yell "KETCHUP" REALLY loud and everybody in the whole restaurant will bring you their bottle and you'll end up with like 20 of them. There are other antics too - but that one is very common!

We used to enjoy the experience at WC. The antics were humorous and the atmosphere was good spirited. The large drinks, ketchup bottles, etc were all being done. But the last time we went we left before the food came. (and from the being in the lobby this April it is still the same). The servers seemed to think the louder they yelled the funnier it was. They dropped trays of plates to add to the noise. They would also yell and scream just to hear themselves. They would walk half way across the dining room and yell back to your table to confirm a drink order. Great when its your table they stopped next to.
If you enjoy noise and childish antics this is the place for you. If you enjoy someone tearing up napkins and littering your table this place is great. If you think you might enjoy kindergarten again, head on over. If you are looking to relax over a decent meal, forget it.
For us the food is no where near good enough to deal with this place. But I think we are in the minority on this one.

Like Steve@BWV... this is not a place where DW and I would go for a nice romantic meal ;)
OTOH... it is a favorite to go with the kids. They especially like the "all you can drink" milkshakes.
I personally think it is fun with a group.

I say go and enjoy. And I second WildernessDad on catching a bus to MK, then the boat to WL. Once off the boat, follow the wooden path and stay to the right of the pool. This will lead you to a set of doors into the main lodge area. Go up the ramp, bear left then right and WCC will be near the front of the Lodge on your right.

We had a good time at Whispering Canyon a couple of years ago. The kids in our party particularly enjoyed it. I got the skillet, which was pretty doggone tasty (especially the cornbread).
As for transportation, I think it depends on what SSR building you're in. We were in the Congress Park building that's furthest from check-in. I was meeting friends at WCC and took the first park bus that came along (Epcot). It took over an hour to get there and I was horribly late for dinner. On the way back, I took the bus to DTD and was back in my room after a 20-25 minute bus ride and a five minute walk. As far as I'm concerned, the fewer transfers, the better.

This is a must for our family every trip - our kids would not let us go for a vacation without having ADRs for WCC. If you don't want all the antics, try a late lunch before 3pm, we still get the skillet but not as much noise. The antics are fun though.
To get there, we usually take the boat from MK, but if we're pressed for time, just take the WL bus from MK - only a two minute ride to the lodge from MK - be sure and enjoy the lodge while there - the lobby and gift shop are great

Not everyone will experience everything, but we even got napkin hats from our server during a 1:30 lunch. DH is one in our family who loves it. And DS got the huge mason jar of sprite with pool precautions for everyone else at WCC. We have plans for Artist Point in July, but I'm hoping there's also time for WCC.

That is the funniest picture ever.....The only thing that happened to us was the ketchup....and a vase for ice water.
they also had like a "pony parade" around the dining room for the kids.
I think the greatest things about this place is it changes every time, Everyone here has a different story....but similiar...I love it:love:

See my previous picture of the guy with the ketshup on his table. This same time, it was another guys b'day. They made him take one of the small wooden horse heads broomstick and take it out to the lobby. He then had to troot around the lobby riding it and sing Happy Birthday to himself. People in the lobby were trying to figure out what was up with this guy but all of us from Whispering Canyon were cheering him on...smjj

if you are bothered by it - just tell the fs - they will not bother you.
it depends upon my mood. sometimes it is fun, othertimes hide under the table times - that is when I ask they tone it down.
never had a problem they definitely want their tips!!!

We just did the " Backstage Magic Tour", Whispering Canyon is now the restaurant they take you to for lunch. They brought out so much food, it was impossible to eat it all. It was a lot of fun.
