The basics:

To check for scheduling call 1-407-363-8500 a few weeks before your arrival. They will tell you if there's a taping for the days you need. Go to the Nickelodeon area and tickets will be handed out around 1pm at a first come first served basis. It is advisable to arrive at least 2 hours in advance. The taping is at 4pm of that day.

If you want a good way to get Slime Time Info....please call us at Guest Services at 407-224-6350 and hit 5 to talk to a coordinator. We have an up-to-date binder on Slimetime Live and if we don't have the current info, we'll find it for ya! Just know that I believe (don't quote me on this) but Slimetime will conclude taping around May 23 for the summer.

We just returned from Orlando last night and made it onto Slime Time on Wednesday. It was so incredibly frustrating because I got so many different answers to my questions when I called various Universal numbers so I decided to post my experience here.

The banner at the studios says they will tape through May 24th. I would definitely advise calling them for exact taping information though.

Tickets are given out at Nickelodeon Studios only. The line starts to form when the park opens, but doesn't start to get long till 11:30 or 12:00. Kids must be at least 6 years old to get a seat in the audience and 9 to participate in the show. They pulled the first 30 kids out of the line to audition for the show. They were broken up into groups of 9-12 year olds and 12-15 year olds. These are the kids that will participate in games and such. I was in line at 11:20 and they already had more than 30 kids so if you want a chance to audition... line up EARLY.

There were two times for the show 3:30 and 4:30. We were in the first group and then they moved us out and the second group came in. We taped 8 segments and a promo for the Kids Choice Awards... our side did the one with Jess that is airing now.

If they tape outside, younger children can hang out around the barricades and still get shown on tv. Also, if people don't show up for the actual taping they will fill spots in the audience with kids waiting outside. If you really want to be in the audience and don't get tickets hang around when they are doing the tapings.

They will give a ticket to only one parent and however many children in a family. There were people who got in line with one child and then had the other parent get in line with another child... PLEASE don't do this... you are taking a seat away from another child who wants to be there just as much as your child. Only one person from your party has to be in line for most of the time... if you are close to the front and your kids want to audition they have to be in the line at 12:15. Everyone has to be in line at 12:45.

Rest your voice and prepare to scream and yell. They want constant noise for the couple of minutes they are on the air. I think this is why they let the parents in. :) The hosts won't sign autographs or anything, so don't expect that to happen either.

I observed this routine for a couple of days, and this was my experience, so take it for what you want. I am sure I forgot many things in my exhaustion, so if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them if I can.

Beavismom, thanks for posting, that was so helpful! A couple of questions, which phone number did you finally get accurate information on taping days from, and how far in advance? Also, is there any place to sit while waiting in line, besides the pavement? Diana

I believe it was the number that is listed at the top of the thread and I called a couple of times starting about 6 weeks out. For the second question, unfortunately there is nowhere else to sit except the ground. The area is covered though, so you have shade and they have the mister fans going as well.

One more point to add, it is a rumor, but supposedly this is the last season of Slimetime.

Thanks for the info Beavismom, The last 2 times we have gone to USF, we've thought about hanging around for the show, but DD didnt want to spend alot of time hanging around. We'll have to see what happens next trip in October.

we went to universal on monday 4/15 and at 9am and there was a sign stating tickets for slime time will be distibuted at 1 pm, needless to say by 12nooon the line was so long and it was 90 degrees so we were pretty disappointed.

We were there that day too. It was awful. The main purpose of our visit that day was to get the real scoop on what to do for the show and maybe get it out of the way if we could, but as you said, no luck.

Considering the storm that moved in I am glad we didn't make that taping. They started taping outside and had to scramble to get indoors during the taping according to our audience coordinator on Wednesday.

The kids really enjoyed the waterplay area that day though :) .

I was there April 9, 11, and 12th. Once my son was at the parks and THAT close to rides the thought of standing on line was a complete turn off. The line was VERY long and the parents looked quite frustrated. There was NO WAY we were going to deal with it, especially when we had so many other options.

Good luck to those who get through, though!

we went to US last summer (adults only) and took the Nick tour. We saw how they made slime and enjoyed a little game and saw alot of the props for the shows. It was wonderful! So when we went this April we took the children and they are nick nuts! and they couldn;t wait to see these things. We only got to see the small game they do. I guess this is because they are shooting.. I guess going off season does have it's perks... They kids would not waste the day in line to get tickets nor would I, but they would have LOVED the tour... the old Tour. I guess we might have to go in the summer again. :D

As stated above it does take a committment of time to get the tickets. We were in line by noon since my kids are (almost) 6 and 7, so we knew there would be no need to be in the first 30. We waited the hour, got the tickets and scrammed. The park was really empty so we rode ET, MIB and watched the Wild Wild West show. Then we were back at 3pm to stand in the line to get it. It was really important to be there pretty early for the show, as they seated kids in that order. So my kids got to be in the front row right next to th sliminator(sp?!?). It was a lot of fun, but my arms hurt from clapping and we all pretty much lost our voices for the next hour. Be completely prepared to get very very messy. The two adults on either side of m got doused in slime by our audience coach for various reasons. My kids did not get slimed but thought it was soooo cool that I had green slime on my shoes they wouldn't let me wash it off.:D Overall they both said it was worth the time investment. The banner did say that taping wasthrough May 24 and I also heard the rumor that this was the last season of slimetime live from the person who gave me the info about getting the tickets in the morning. However, our audience coach said that it was the #1 promo kids show (promo meaning it aired between other shows.)

The guest star was Little Romeo, who my kids don't really know and he seemed to have a really good time and it showed. He was filming a music video on the NEw York area after the park closed that night and kids age 9 and older in the Slimetime ticket line could also ask for tickets to be in the music video. Two tickets for the price of one line... We weren't old enough and my kids wouldn't have known that was cool, but some of the preteen in line were frantically talking mom into going home a little later than planned.

It WAS a lot of fun, interesting for both myself and the kids to see how tv shows are made and probably worth the time we spent on it as it park was slow and we didn't really miss much by doing it.

This was the last day of our vacation and my kids though it was a really memorable way to end it.

I was wondering if they tape most weekdays during the taping season, or is it usually only a few days a week? Also, what kinds of things do the kids have to do when they audition for the show? Anyone know what they look for when they audition the kids? Thanks.

When we were there in Nov. 2002 they had the kids jump up and down and cheer! They also told them that if they were selected that they may be taping all day so if they didn't have a lot of time they may not want to audition. Then they gave each child a # and if your # was picked you were a contestant. This was like a raffle. They never really auditioned one on one. The contestents had to be from 10-17 yrs old and to sit in the audiance you had to be at least 8. Any child who was not choosen to be a contestant could watch the show in the audiance with 1 parent and you may get messy (very messy!). My daughter was lucky enough to have her # drawn and she was a contestant. Her team lost the first game but she still had a great time and we were able to leave after the first taping.:)

I went with my son 10/01. The sign said they were going to hand out tickets so we went. We stood in a very long ling in the sun. Kids were pulled out and grouped by ages to audition. My son did not want to audition. We did get tickets to the show. The show was outside where there is more seating than indoors (they tape indoors when bad weather). If your child gets a ticket, the parent gets a ticket. It was an experience. (Also note that I had no clue what slimetime was). They tell you you have to clap and scream whenever they tell you to, which is quite often. You can't hear what the people are saying. We did call home and tell them to tape it the show. While we were there we were told two of the nsync kids were going to be there the day after. My son wanted to see them so we decided to come back then. Since they let you stand around when filming outside we decided not to stand in the line to get tickets and we would just stand outside and get to see them. Wrong!! It was bad weather that day and they filmed indoors, limited tickets. My son was so disappointed. They told us if we came back when the ticket holders were to show up and there was room they would let us in. We came back but it was full to capacity because of nsync. We hung around a little longer with a few other people who also wanted to get in. One of the producers? came out to find out another contestant (someone did not show). She went up to the first kid (which was a girl) and asked her if she wanted to be a contestant and she said yes. The producer than asked her to yell and scream right there on the spot. The girl could not do it (she was shy). The producer then looked at my son and asked him and my son started to yell, scream and jump on the spot. He got in. To make a long story short, my son's team lost. The winning team got some small prize. They don't even let them keep the shirts they were on the show.

I was very amazed that the people on the show were not very friendly to the kids (except for dave). The "tv stars" sit inside of tents and only come out when they are filming. They really did not seem that kid oriented. Joey of nsync seemed nice but Lance did not want anything to do with the audience. Needless to say my son stopped watching slime time after this.

When we got home we watched the video. It was fun to see the two of us on tv but even more, when my son went back to school, a few kids who saw them on slimetime called him a tv star. We still pull out the tape and watch it from time to time.

It was interesting to read all about your experiences with slimetime, my daughter watches Nick all the time, we are off to DWF in October, and I want definately to visit Universal this time, been twice before and never could fit it in, so going for 3 weeks, can anyone tell me whether you buy one entry ticket or do they do a two day pass, we are staying at all star no car, so will either arrange taxi or mears bus, do they only let you in at nick for slimetime? as my daughter wanted to maybe see kenen and kel (have you heard of this)? you mentioned a tour is this seperate from the other line up? also where best to buy tickets before we leave england of when we arrive. thanks lynne

I just called and they have not been provided a schedule from the Nic producers. I will try back in August.

They also indicated that most children of any age are welcom. I do not think the audience is limited.

Our family did Summer Slime Live on Monday, August 11. Summer Slime Live is in production M-F, 6-8pm until August 29th.

Tickets are distributed at 1:00pm by the "cow" pole (support pole painted like a cow) at the far end of the queing lines by the studio. It is the cow pole closest to the building. We got there at 11:30am and were about 20th in line.

Production runs from 6-8 pm. First half of the line received tickets for the 6-7 portion of the show, second half of the line received tickets for the 7-8 portion.

The early seating had to report at 5:30pm, the 2nd seating had to report by 6:40pm. If you are in the 1st seating, I would suggest getting there early. We arrived at 5:00 and were about 40th in line. You want to be able to sit on the bottom row of the bleachers if you can. The children on the bottom row were the ones who were selected to be the kids who hold the noodles and wave them during each part of summer slime live. They surround the hosts and the games waving their noodles. Consequently, since they are on the floor for every part of the taping, they get the most air time. I don't know if it worked the same way with the 2nd seating, but that is how it worked with our seating.

Only children 10 and older were allowed on the set. Younger kids were issued viewing tickets to sit in the audience. Only one adult could accompany (and was required to accompany the kids) onto the live taping set. If you tape inside, the viewing area has actual seats and is right in front of the set - great view! If you are taping outside, the viewing area is standing room only. And it is rather easy for the public to get back there, so it is quite crowded. Our taping was inside, however, they moved outside for the second half of our show.

Promptly at 1:00, tickets were issued on a first come / first serve basis. On-camera kids were given one set of tickets and younger siblings were given the viewing tickets. We got to wait for the tickets under the queing line cover with all the misters right there. They actually have roped off the back section of the game show queing lines just for Summer Slime Live. It was the coolest spot in Universal that day!

When we lined up at 5:30, the stage crew asked for all people with blue tickets to follow them to the area in front of the lines. Most tickets were green, but a few families had blue tickets. The blue tickets were the randomly selected families that were guaranteed to exit the show covered in green slime. But don't assume you are safe if you don't have a blue ticket. Whole sections of the audience had buckets dumped on them:D

Just FYI, one of the stage managers mentioned that only the first half group had the blue tickets. This allowed plenty of time to get waivers signed and instructions given. So, if you want a chance to sit in the slime-a-nator, make sure you are in the ticket distribution line early.

There were no auditions for the games. The stage manager told us that during the cuts to Summer Slime Live, the upstairs people were watching all the kids. They would radio down to the stage manager which kids should be selected. We were told that they were looking for kids with lots of enthusiasm, big smiles and kids who were watching the stage manager and following directions. Between live cuts, the stage manager would come over and tell us that another kid was selected and then point them out. So you never knew when or if you would be selected.

I don't want to ruin the fun of the production by going into too much detail, so I will end here. I will be glad to answer any questions if anybody has them.

Hi, I don't pay much attention to the shows, but the kids do. Is this summer slime live actually live on the air, or is it just a pretend show that isn't really on? I think I have seen it this summer, but I wondered. Is this something that i should have somebody at home tape it while we are there? I guess I could have them tape from 6-8 on the days we are there. Would that cover it? If they actually got on the air it would be coolest to have it vcr'ed. Problem is, my kids can be really loud and obnoxious, just not when I want them to be! So they probably would be all quiet and not get picked. We'll be there in a week!

Yes, it is definitely a live thing that is aired on Nickelodeon. It is actually segments that are filmed during the commercial breaks of the regular Nick programming. Therefore, you won't be able to find it if you look in a TV guide, but it is definitely on-air and live. I had somebody tape it at home for the kids to watch when we got back.

Also, since it is just a few minutes during every commercial break, you only have a few on-air segments during the hour that you are there. When we were there, we had a filmed segment approximately every 10 minutes. But the off-air time was great fun too.

Last September '02 we took our annual trip down to Disney. Of course, no trip is complete without a visit to Universal.

So the first thing I did was go to Guest Services to find out what time the taping for the show would be, and if I had children who wanted to try to get picked as a contestant I would have to go earlier.

We showed up behind the Green geyser sometime in the early afternoon. The stars of the show came out and asked all the kids who wanted a shot at being a contestant to line up against this 10 foot fence. Then they were told to pick a number or something like that. It was one of the stars idea's. I guess every day they do something else to determine who will be a contestant.

Anyway, one of my daughters was picked. One parent is allowed to go into the studio with them, where they fill out paperwork saying that they give their child permission to be on the show.

Then I called everyone me and my kids knew to tell them to watch that afternoon. I had also programmed the VCR at the timeshare to tape the show, even if my kids didn't get picked, because I figured at least we would be in the audience. I've done it twice before, it's so funny to see the kids. One year the kids were standing right next to Little Bow Wow while he was singing Bounce. It was really funny watching them wave their hands/arms in the air for 3 minutes. All the kids looked like their arms weighed 1000 pounds!

Anyway, after I filled out the paperwork, Tori and the other kids were sent into a changing room and given a T-shirt and nylon pants (she was purple) and I was allowed to accompany my husband and my other daughter into the studio audience section. A few minutes later, Tori and the other kids came out with the stars of the show, which now I remember to be the stars of All That. I didn't care for one girl too much because she took a chocolate pudding and threw it in my face and ruined a $50 white tank top I was wearing. I've been to that show 4 times and if it weren't for that red headed brat, I would have come out unscathed 4 times.

So We're watching, and clapping, and waiting, and watching and clapping and waiting (in between shows, we came on during the commercials)
and Tori kept winning the little games that they make the contestants play.
Well, me and my husband had dinner reservations for the California Grill and we were to drop the kids off at the Never Land Club and it's getting later and later and later and Tori keeps winning the contests and Eddie keeps telling me, She better lose because I don't want to miss our dinner reservations! and I'm trying to explain, how often will our daughter be playing a game show on live television???

So she wound up losing, of course, because her father was jinxing her!:p

So after she lost that round of games, it was around 5:00, they said if anyone wants to leave, they could. They took Tori in the back to wash the purple slime off and they had told her if she wanted to purchase the sweat outfit she was wearing it would be $15. She said no because she thought I would say no, but I told her she should have said yes, and if I didn't want her to have it I would have said no to the lady. But I thought it would have been a cool souvenier for her! It was definitely worth the $15.

So then we left. On the way out they gave the girls a super cool goodie bag which included a pocket radio and a lot of candy and other stuff I can't remember. And then I went to the little souvenier shop outside of the Nickelodeon studios and purchased the same purple shirt for her.

What was awesome is that after I called some people back home on my cell phone, they formed a telephone chain and almost all of her classmates, friends and cousins saw her on the show. They also saw me and my husband and my other daughter Kyra in the stands.

I would say that the experience was Totally Awesome! I think I enjoyed it just as much as she did. We plan on doing it again, but this year we're not going into the studios except for Halloween Horror Night, and that's without the kids.

You have to call Nickelodeon Studios in Florida to find out the schedule. One time I got the schedule on the Universal Studios website, just look for the word schedule and click it. Their site changes often, so I'm not sure if they have that link still

Did you call them to see if they're taping? I've noticed that they now have U-Pick Live from New York City on from 4 - 6 every afternoon. Slime Time Live used to be on from 3 - 6 every afternoon.
I just programmed the VCR at the timeshare to tape the local Nickelodeon channel from 2:30 to 6:30, just in case. This way I got the commercials before the show, which was great because one of my daughters was sitting next to the host and she was on TV.
Before you start setting up the VCR just check to see if they'll be taping first.

The game lab is fun, too, but only a select few can play. It's at the conclusion of the Nickelodeon tour. Everyone goes into an area where you have a seat and the host picks a couple families to try-out different stunts you might see on Double Dare or Slime time live. A few kids get slimed, too, but the only difference is you're not on television. But it's great. you get to see how they make slime and how they construct their sets, etc.

That's your best bet. Isn't there a board (in this forum) that has actual Universal employees who write in often concerning rides and attractions? You're going to have to investigate.

Here's some more info. Let me know if you need any additional details.

The Game Show Lab had "shows" 7 or 8 times the day we were there. I think they started at 11:00. The Lab is located in the building down the "side street" by the Jimmy Neutron ride near the Slime-inator. The signs said the lines start 15 minutes before each show but when we got there at that time, there were already people in line. You wait in line until the show area opens up in the building (from the last show). When they let people in, the parents go in 1 of 2 bleachers and all the kids go in the other 2. The kids are in 2 teams (red or blue) by bleacher. Before they start the games, they pick one kid to be slimed and that kid goes to change (with a parent) and comes back out.

The first game they did, they picked 2-3 kids per team to come up and try to answer Nick Toon questions. My daughter was picked during our first time at the Game Show Lab and ended up answering 3 out of the 4 questions (which prompted the host to ask if she ever went outside! ;) They play 3 games to determine the winning team. The other 2 games they did when we were there were a bounce/catch and then hold game with Dads trying to hold as many of the balls as they could (while they were dressed like Jimmy Neutron with a funky wig/hat on their head!). The last game was with 2 Moms that had to wear Square Pants (a box with leg cut-outs with suspenders to hold them up) and the teams had to pass around sponges and get them into the Mom's Square Pants. After the last game, they slime the chosen kid in a kiddy pool.

The kids all had a good time. Each "show" only took about 20-25 minutes. My daughter loved it and was so hoping to be slimed. Being picked just made her whole vacation!

Hope this info helps!

Just a quick question? Does FOTL apply? I know that they do that for most of the other shows. Does getting picked seem easier if you wait in line, and therefore end up going in earlier?;)

No, unfortunately there is no FOTL for the Nick Game Show Lab. Everyone waits in line and then they all go in and fill the stands. My only suggestion is to have your kids wave their arms as wildly as they can in the stands and try to get noticed by the game show host. Screaming will probably help too but I don't think my daughter was screaming when she got picked but her arms were going crazy. The host commented that she must really want to be slimed to which she replied emphatically "YES!!!!!".

Even if your kids don't get picked to be slimed, the games are still fun and they could get picked for those also.

Good Luck!

They did use a express line when we were last there on January 16. You passed by the normal line and entered closer to the building. I didn't remember this from our visit last August though. I wonder if they don't always offer FOTL?

We are going to universal in april. we planned for last aug, but it rained so bad I cancelled it. Our oldest ds was picked to be slimed once. He held his hands up, folded in a begging stance and had a pleading look on his face and kept saying please, please etc.. I thought he looked pathetic and hysterical at the same time. Well guess what, he got picked. It was the highlight of his trip as well. Now the littlest ds is hoping to get picked. I guess his brother should give him a crash course!!

We will be visiting US/IOA in Feb 2005. Does anyone know if there are shows going on then? I, too, have a ds with a dream of being slimed. We will definitely try the game lab if nothing else. Thanks for any tips....

We were at Univeral in 2001 and although, overall the experience was great-- we were not at all pleased with the Slime Time Live show. Our son was selected for the younger contestant section (at that time they had three individual contestants in an on air sort of popularity contest). The staff was utterly indifferent to the kids.

At one point, the contestants were sitting in a conference room backstage and an employee came in a placed a large shopping bag full of little goodies on the table (slime time shirts, frisbees, etc). The kids were pretty excited about the loot. One child lifted out some do-dad on top and was looking at it. An employee came back in the room, snatched the little toy away from the child and announced that those gifts were for Dave's nephews who were visiting the show. She gathered the bag of stuff up and took it away.

The children were hustled out on to the set. Everyone was constantly badgered to cheer. After his segment, my son was led off stage by an employee, stripped of his shirt and pointed toward an exit. That was it! No thanks for being on, no autograph or picture with Dave, the costume t-shirt was taken back. Prior to his appearance, my son was a huge fan. He stopped watching at all after that. I wrote a letter to Nickelodeon about the experience, but never received a reply.

My son, 6yrs, wants more than anything to get slimed. I think this experience would devastate him!

Anyone else had an experience like this??

My son had a similiar experience. My son got picked to be a contestant (when two of the NSync guys were on). They gave him a shirt to put on. He played the game. His team lost. He was brought to a back room. He comes out with nothing. The whole time I am sitting there, they are telling the audience to scream and cheer. In between filming the "stars" go inside a tent. They don't say hello or try to talk to any of the kids. I was very disappointed myself knowing that this is a kid's show and the "stars" don't really care about the kids. Dave had left early on this taping so I can't tell you about him but the two other people (especially the blond girl) struck me as being very snobbish. My son did say that the winning team did get a small prize. Can't remember what it was but remember thinking it was very stupid. My son occasionally watches nick but after his experience he pretty much does not bother.

The game lab last approx. 15 minutes. I was selected as a grown up for one of the games. Then my son got picked to play in another game and he had to bring his parent...so once again I had to play. It was fun. They did select one child to get slimed...I was glad it wasn't mine.

Oh, our team lost all the games but I didn't see them give out any prizes. I thought them teams were uneven. We had little kids on our team and the other team had teenagers.

But it's about having fun and we did.

I was told by a cast member there that they are no longer doing anymore tapping of the Slime Time Live show. The Nic studio's are now doing it out in Califorina. The only Slime Time that we can see is now just the game show in the bldging (the actual attraction). They aren't sure if the show will return to Orlando at all this year.... My daughter was heart-broken. We were told at Christmas time that they would have the live show in May/June. On Memorial day weekend is when we found out about the move to California

I just happened to see this thread.

In the late 90's, my daughter was chosen to be on the show, She had nothing but fun and we all absolutely loved the experience! Seems to me that she did get some type of token, but that was not what the participation was all about. The staff and crew were very nice. My daughters team played a game where an inner tube had to be passed down the line with an over/under maneuver. The team was made up of adults and youngsters (some larger than others). Things were going a little too slow until they got to my daughter. Luckily, she had the over the head task. The inner tube slipped over her head and dropped to the floor :D without ever touching her body. A quick kick out of the tube and their team had won.

buzz2400 - Just curious how the NSync guys were to the kids? Everytime we have ever been around those guys, they have been wonderful! We have met Justin Timberlake a number of times and know his mother and father real. His father works for the same company as my husband. BTW - Justin was totally mortified during the Super Bowl half time..as were his parents.

we just got back and we went to the studios. WOW what a disappointment. My DD got picked as a team captain and then she got slimed- BUT she had less then 2 minutes to get undressed- they rushed her to get slimed then pushed her in a tiny backroom to get showered off in again less then 2 minutes- to get this stuff out of her long hair and body and get dressed- less then 2 minutes!!

The staff was very rude- miserable and pushed us out. the show was about 10-12 minutes. what a disappointment- although she had a blast being slimed!! but the staff- thumbs down on the rudeness!!

My daughter was on Slime Time in 2003. She loved it. Everyone was very nice. Her team did not win but the winning team did get a prize. She wanted to keep the Slime Time shirt, they did not let you. We just bought her one . They do sell them. She was so happy because so many people saw her on tv. She wasn't the right age for the show(she was younger) but she told them she was 10. They just asked her what year she was born in and she got it right, so they let her on the show. i guess they thought she was small for her age
