I'm thinking about it. We will be at WDW for the Food and Wine Fest but are definitely doing a Party for the Senses the night before........so, I have to decide if I really want to get up that early after a Party. I'm leaning towards doing it, but just haven't made the commitment yet.:)

DH and I signed up, and it will be our first race EVER unless we find a 5K to do beforehand. We're starting our training with Couch to 5K and will move up to a 10K program in the summer. He's on Week 3, but I'm in a holding pattern after finishing Week 1 due to an old sprained ankle that suddenly flared up again -- probably from starting the program in running shoes without my prescription orthotics. Yikes. Pixie dust, please, for a full recovery so I can finish the Race!!!

Just signed up my DH yesterday. It will be his very first race and is also signed up for the half marathon in January. He has never done anything like this before but was inspired to start after watching the race this past January.
We are staying at AKV, so we'll have to find our own way to the begining of the race but I'm sure we'll manage! Anyone else not booked through Anthony Travel?

Are you doing it also or just your DH?

We're not booked through Anthony Travel either, so we plan to rent a car. But a taxi would be cheaper. We'll decide for sure when the dates get closer.

Just my DH. I don't run. he wants me to join him but I am barely back to walking wihtout my knee bothering me. I have another year before I'm allowed to do anything strenuous with it. He has never run before so I am really proud of him for doing this. But I had to post since he wouldn't be caught dead on the Disboards! LOL!! :rotfl2: :faint:

DH and I did the RFTT 10K last year. It was awesome! Our first Disney race together. We did an Exquisite Evening on Friday night then Party for the Senses on Saturday night before the race on Sunday morning. Yeah, we just called it "carb loading". :rotfl:

I'm doing Couch to 5K in preparation for RftT and am very worried about the pace requirement. (I average just over a 15-minute mile, but right now I still do a lot of walking as part of the program.) I would absolutely LOVE to do Party for the Senses the night before, but I'm worried that my pace will suffer too much the next morning -- especially if I have as much wine as I did last year! I want to Party, but I want even more to finish the race without being swept. Maybe once I'm a more advanced runner and have a better sense of what my race pace will be, I can consider it. What do you think?

I'm a walker and I know I can meet the pace, even after doing a Party for the Senses. Then again, I'm happy with just finishing the Race without being swept. If I was trying to finish in a certain time frame I might be concerned about doing a "party' the night before. My DH loves Party for the Senses and he would not want to go if I didn't, so I'm comfortable with my decision to do the "Party" and then race (finish) the next morning.

Sorry just had to jump in here (not doing the race for the taste)
What do you mean you won't have a great time??? Any race at Disney World is a GREAT TIME!!! You'll see, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you go. The goal is the start and then finish.:thumbsup2
Plus - the back packer people tend to have alot more fun, it's like a party within a party!!
So, I hope you'll change your mindset and just enjoy the time and all the other WISHers that will be there with you!! You just may a GREAT and FUN time, afterall that is what Disney races are all about!!:yay: :cheer2:

Sorry for the confusion here: I will have a great time, as in, I will enjoy myself - of course, that's why I said I was looking forward to it! I meant, I won't have a great RUNNING time, as in, I won't come in under a certain race time. But I am okay with that, as I said, I will be happy to finish. I will put pressure on myself to do as well as I can, but I am just not very fast, and I know that, and that's okay...is this clear or not? Anyway, I'm glad I signed up and I know it will be a lot of fun!

I'm considering running it. However, I'm not sure I have enough time to run it and still catch my bus(ME) to the airport for a noon flight. I didn't know about the race when we planned the trip.
And getting to and from the race from POFQ is also a concern.

The race starts at 7am. Depending on how fast you run/walk, the back of the pack will cross the finish line by about 8:30-8:45am. ME will probably have you take the 9:30am or 10am bus with a noon flight.

I didnt' get it, but I'm really psyched for this race. Part of it is fear because I'm doing Wine and Food Fest for a whole 11 days before the race!:scared1: :scared1: Yikes! I plan to work out, but whether that happens or not remains to be seen. :) It will definitely be an interesting race after 11 days of Food and Wine, AND a Party for the Senses the night before...

I am registered and got my official instructions the other day and like somebody else said got officially nervous:scared1:
I have been training, and WILL finish the race, I think its just the official - ness of the instructions that scared me. I am staying at the Beach club and will probably leave my car at the epcot parking lot and bus over with people? I have no idea... It is also my first Disney race and 10K, and I am nervous about accidentally bumping into people:confused3
Sorry for rambling....

We will be at Beach Club also! We also plan on parking at Epcot and busing to the start. I've only done one other race (the Minnie 15K this past May in WDW), which has calmed my fears considerably for this race. You will do great, it will be a fun race and I think you will find the support to be fantastic.
You are welcome to ride with us if you would like. We don't plan on leaving BC until around 5:30, so if that works for you just PM me. It's gonna be a great time!

Bit late to join the party, but it's looking official that DW and I will be down there for RFTT for the 3rd year in a row with only me actually running the race. I'll also be doing the Cypress Gardens sprint triathlon on Saturday, so a busy weekend it shall be. We're staying Saturday night at the Coronado Springs, which at this late date and with Shades of Green sold out was the best deal on resort at $123 after taxes for the night. Will likely have DW shuttling me around in the car since we're driving down.
I'll be in the race-ready green as always feel free to yell random stuff at me if you see me! During the race/before/after whenever!

Which corrals are you all planning on starting in? DH is still kinda post-op-ish (compartment syndrome in both legs), so he'll be with the walkers while I try starting out as a back-of-the-pack runner. I'd love some company from any other solo DISers.

My mother just came home from Florida and said it was 90 degrees...I think I'll be trotting more than running... Am I allowed to do that, walk, run, jog, crawl, whatever it takes! You would like to think I would have trained more outside in the Boston humidity, but no...I was on my air conditioned treadmill while my kids slept or watched Scooby Doo.:rotfl2:

The morning should be in the upper 60's/low 70's. Alot though depends on the humidity. Some mornings, you feel a cool breeze and other mornings you hit the wall of humidity as you walk out the front door.

Well based on your review of the Party For the Senses I am no longer worried about "over indulging" (You are nicer then I am, if I was that disappointed with my first one I would probably go at least ask for refunds going forward LOL! I am hoping they get better! I got Disney to refund me a few years ago for a Wine and Cheese where the leaders "knowledge" of the wine was that they read the label. I was very nice, but the CM did agree that this was not what was advertised :rotfl: )

I will definitely let Disney know (via e-mail) our thoughts of the last PFTS but DH and I will attend the next one hoping that it will be more of the caliber of in years past. If this next one doesn't meet our expectations, we may consider cancelling our last one.
I remember other people talking about the Cheese and Wine event you mentioned, they too were very disappointed in it. I heard that they improved them after having so many complaints.

I am picking up my packet on Friday morning when we fly in. I am so excited!!! I was feeling lame about the whole thing the past few days, (overtraining) I bumped into a mom at my daughters school and started chatting about running, she is running her first marathon next weekend in Chicago. It bumped up my spirits, if she can push through a marathon, I can push throught his in the heat. I am such a heat wuss.
I went to the PFTS a couple of years ago and was disappointed by the food. The cirque athletes were great and so was dessert. The food was just ok. I have lots of dinner and lunch ressies with my aunt, we originally booked this trip to eat around the world. :cool1: What's the Bling?
