Hello
~*~ Welcome to the Dis UK! ~*~
Thought it was time for a new 'Lets Introduce Ourselves' thread as we have many new members now and being as our old one is in Cyber Heaven somewhere! LoL ;)
I am Janice, and I have been a Dis'er for about 3 and a half years now, stumbling quite accidentally upon this site whilst searching for info on travelling to Florida! I have been a Moderator for almost 18 months now and have learnt so much!
I am married to Chris for 28 years - we have two Children, James who is 25 and Katie who is 22. Their love for all things Disney is growing, all be it very slowly!
We have been to Florida 5 times now, and I am having a 'Girlie' week in May with my Co-Moderator Shirley ( :D :D )
I have made many friends here, both UK and US, and look forward to getting to know more of you :) :)
So............over to you...........

Hi my name is Alison and i live in Essex. i too came across the dis whilst looking for information on florida, i had only been with a computer for about a month when i joined the US dis and jancie kindly pointed me in the direction of the Uk dis with the questions i asked. i have been a member of both boards since sept2001.
unfortuatley we have no children, have been married for nearly 10 years and have 4 cats left out of the 6 original.
We are off to florida again in november this time for 3 weeks to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and my dh 50th birthday. roll on roll on!!!!
I have found these boards to be very helpful and informative on several issues i have wanted to know about. i dont think you can beat first hand information and experiences.
Looking forward to getting to know everybody again.:earsgirl:

HI I am Carolyn, married to Roger with two teenagers, Rebecca and Simon. We also seem to have adopted my daughters' boyfriend John who now lives with us. We are all Disney mad. In fact my son is taking a gap year prior to uni, and is off on July 10th to Epcot as a cast member on their International Programme. He will be out there for a year, so please say a big hello to him should you meet him. Carolyn

Hi everyone,
I'm Christine, I live in South Yorkshire with my DH, my DS and my three DDs. I have a lovely golden labrador named Toby who is my youngest "child"...well, he thinks he is!
We're all currently in full-planning mode for our fifth trip to Orlando in November/December of this year...we can't wait.
I love looking in on all the DIS boards and hearing from all my DIS friends, theres a real sense of community on these boards and always help and advice when you need it.

I'm Penny, I'm 32 (33 in May  ) I live with my other half Simon who I've known for just over 11 years now. I can't remember when I first found the DIS as I lurked for a while...infact it was a thread just like this that got me to register! So come out, come out all you lurkers ;) That was in December 1999 and I've not looked back! I became a Moddie just over a year ago and I love that too :) I can't begin to say how many friends I've made here and I just LOVE DIS meets, both here and at the World :D
I work in for a magazine publisher in the West End of London, typesetting low class adverts for high-end quality magazines, LOL. Fortunately, inbetween deadlines, I have plenty of time to DIS ;)
I started my love for Disney when I went to DL California for a daytrip - I didn't know what hit me as, if I recall, I didn't even buy a guidebook...just turned up at the gate! Since then I've been to DL Paris twice and WDW 5 times, plus I have a trip in May, another trip in August where I am SO excited about trying a Disney Cruise, and fingers crossed, if I can get a cheap flight I'll be going back in December. I can hardly believe that I'm contemplating 3 trips in 1 year  Thank god for Annual Passes and the DVC is all I can say :D
So, who's next? :)
Penny :)
Astrid
03-29-2002, 06:39 AM
I'll be next Penny! :)
I'm Astrid, 40 last August, and have two kids, Carys, daughter of 6 and Bryn, son of 9. I live on the outskirts of the New Forest though am originally an Essex girl!! ;) Oh, and I also have a mad Staffordshire Bull Terrier Dog called Phoebe.
I love going to WDW and discovered the US Dis site in August 2000 when looking for information for my '01 trip. I've just come back from 2 weeks on-site which was wonderful but, sadly, have no plans to return as yet.
I run a cleaning business with my friend which fits in with the kids and means I can pay for my Florida trips! I've met some lovely people from Dis on the various Meets I've been too and have made some very good friends too! Thank you! :)
Next person please .....

This is De ja Vous...;)
Ok I guess I'll go next then.
We are Michelle (36) and Neil (35).
We have 2 lovely girls, Natalie (sweet 16, not!) and Stephanie (8). We have been married 15 years now. We live in Newcastle upon Tyne. We also have two labradors, Oscar who is golden and Monty who is black.
We have been members on the Dis boards for almost 2 years having registered on the UK Dis first then coming over here.
Our first trip to WDW was back in 1992 and that was it as they say we were hooked. We try to get back as often as we can. :)
Unfortunatley we dont have a trip booked for this year as it is proving difficult as DD1 is sitting her GCSE's, so we will have to wait and see.
We too have met some really nice people which would've been impossible without these boards.;)

Right!
I'm Kevin. 44. Wonderfully handsome, incredibly intelligent, the athletic build of a 21 year old, but the wisdom of a sage. Oh, and modest. (Janice, Shirley and Penny can keep their opinions to themselves at this point please).
Married to Tammy. 38. Not a bad old girl really. Let me buy into the DVC, so I suppose I'll stick with her. She keeps threatening to register with the DIS. I can only hope this does not happen or my cover is well and truly blown!
Children: India (11) and Georgia (8).
We've been to WDW 8 times, staying at such varied places as All Star Sports, All Star Music, All Star Movies, Caribbean Beach, Dixie Landings, Port Orleans and the Boardwalk. (Thanks to DVC!)
We have enjoyed 3 DIS meets to date and are looking forward to a least a couple more this year! Unless they are tee-total!

I'm Simon. I'm 28, live in London and work in national radio.
Formerly a Swansea boy ( so 'Bore Da' to all the Welsh people on here ), and a big piece of heart will always be in my hometown ( the rest is in Florida ).
I'm single, no kids ( although I'm a big one ), but looking forward to being a Dad one day - all I need now is the other half of the baby making team !
I've been reading the DIS boards for about 12 months now and thought that it's about time that I joined in.
I've been holidaying ( and now doing some work too ) in Florida for about 10 years now, and I'm hooked.
I try to go out there at least 3 times a year.
Looking forward to ( hopefully ) being welcomed into the DIS family.

Hi - I'm Annie (41), married to Darryl (Dazzle on the Dis, 42), DD Katie (9). I work in PR until July and Darryl is a Sales Manager.
We live in the New Forest - beautiful today with the sun shining!
I originally come from London (yeyyyyyyy), but moved down in 84. I am a QPR fan (NO sympathy, please), fanatical motor racing fan and really don't like Michael Schumacher. DH is fanatical Arsenal supporter (brainwashed DD so she thinks she is too).
I first went to Orlando back in 82 - my brother's then girlfriend "treated" me for my belated 21st. It started out as a long weekend trip to Disney World, because that was my lifetime's ambition (it ended up being 4 weeks of bliss travelling around Orlando and down to the Gulf Coast on the way home from Miami). When I saw Cinderella's castle I decided that if ever I had children, I would hopefully take them there. Well, we've only got the one, but my "holiday of a lifetime" came in 1998 - accompanied by MIL (but that's another story.....). Suffice to say, we've been back each year since to make up for that trip and off again this October.... can't wait
The DIS site is almost like a family member thingy - we used to get excited when we first joined last June when "famous" people like Hilary, Bonzo, FatMan Dave etc would reply!!
We just love it:p

I have a great sense of deja-vous here ;)
Well I'm Sam (short for Samantha, my gender has sometimes been a bone of contention on these here boards but I am well and truly female :earsgirl: )
I am 32 (33 in April). I have been on the boards since May 2000 although you wouldn't know it from the number of threads I DON'T seem to have posted! You will notice that my favourite disney character (see below) is one that represents me well - they say that owners look like their dogs......well I think we should start thinking about whether or not we emulate our favourite disney characters :jester:
I work and live in Wimbledon in Human Resources for an e-business solution and IT training Company which is a laugh. I get to be responsible for all the recruitment for the company which is scary.
I made my first trip to Orlando in 1996 as a pre-wedding holiday and got hooked. Always wanted to actually stay on-site and the dream has come true for my 5th trip in early May when I am staying at the Yacht and Beach Club - yeah:D. I am also hoping to attend the DIS-Con II in early December so fingers crossed for that one.
I have attended several DIS meets and intend on attending more as I just can't get enough of you all :p :p
So C U all on the boards.......next.....

Annie - you'll make us all BLUSH !
You hit the nail right on the head - this is a GREAT community and long may it remain so - It's the reason why, 1 year on, I'm still here!
Simon (Lemur) - just wanted to add my "welcome" to the boards!
Enjoy - the "locals" are friendly.

Hi Everyone.
I'm Carol, (44), married for 24 years, and have 2 DS aged 17 and 14.
I found this site after my DH bought Simons book as a Christmas Prezzie in 2000 in preparation for a holiday on October 2001. I lurked for a little while until joining the old UK Dis boards in April 2001 I think.
Everyone one here is truly friendly and helpful, and it really is a community.
I live in Bognor Regis, West Sussex and work full time for the local County Council as a Pensions Administrator, and my DH is a Paramedic.
Our 1st visit to Orlando was in 1997 when we stayed at Allstars, and we went again last October when we stayed at the Rodeway Inn on International Drive.
Not sure when we might be able to go again as we moved house last week.
But here's hoping!!

Hi everyone!!!
I'm Suzi, 17, I've been posting on the Teen Board for as long as I can remember, but I'd like to post here more often :)
I've been to WDW twice, and I'm going to DLP for the fourth time this July.
My favourite film ever is Sleeping Beauty, I think its the most beautiful, magical film ever made. My favourite characters are Maleficent's goons, which is how I got my username.
Hopefully, I'll be able to get to know all of you a lot better,
Suzi
