I am so worried that I am going to forget something important, so I was talking to a friend who forgot her birth certificate to go to the bahamas. She lost a day of her vacation. What have you forgotten that you laughed at or that messed up your vacation?

A few years ago we went and we forgot our kids wallets, which had their spending money in Disney Dollars in it. All that time spent telling them they could only spend the money in their wallet and they spent my money anyway. Oh well, what are ya gonna do?! :)

I forgot to bring a razor when I went to Cancun for my honeymoon. I decided on a small toothpaste sized tube of Nair, that cost me $7. :scared1: So, I never forget a razor now!

One year I forgot to bring my DBFs park hopper. We had them left from a previous trip. I had mine but his got left behind. Our first stop was to DTD to spend $200 to buy another one.
That mistake really cost me!

Another year I forgot to bring sunscreen. After 1/2 a day at the AK I had to buy a teeny tiny bottle for $12 as I was burnt to a crisp.

On our honeymoon a tropical storm came through and the temps got down in the high 50s for 3 days. We had to buy sweats and jackets as we didn't even pack any warm clothes.

A couple years ago, I remembered to pack sunscreen, but I couldn't ever remember to bring it to the parks. So I had to buy sunscreen. Again and again and again. :(

I had everything packed and in fact everything made it to FL. We stopped in Jax to visit my BFF. We stayed the night at her house and when we packed up the next morning I forgot the bag that had all of our bathroom stuff in it.

I had to buy everything over again. What a pain. :headache:

We went to visit my BIL and his wife in Tennessee for Thanksgiving one year and I always pack my clothes and DH's. Well, I didn't pack any pants for him! So, he only had the pair he traveled in, needless to say we had to make a trip to the local WalMart.

I know this isn't as exciting as some others but I'm paranoid about forgetting things when we travel so I'm really, really good about making lists and making sure i have everything on my list. However, when we went to WDW for our honeymoon in Dec 2000, I forgot my hair conditioner. I've gotten much better since DS came but i was one of those types that wouldn't dare go out of the house without make-up, hair done etc., and I searched all over the park/hotel for conditioner but nothing! I was so upset figuring I'd look like a frizzy mess in all my pics but it turns out my hair never looked better!:rotfl2: All of our pics came out great and the humidity actually gave my hair some volume!

Shoes and not once, but twice! To be fair the first time was our honeymoon and I was responsible for packing some stuff and dh the other stuff. Apparently we each thought the other had packed them and we were a bit preoccupied with getting to the wedding.

Underwear

razors

I have mistakenly packed our "USED" non-expy 7-days park-hoppers for the whole family. I have to re-purchased 4 tixs for our vacation; however, mistakes like this could be a good thing. For the next 2 years after that, we didn't need to buy anymore tickets and that has saved us $$ (ticket price has gone up quite a few dollars)

Our last Disney trip I forgot all of my socks. My husband was sweet enough to jog to a nearby store...since my curling iron was busted on the flight there and going a whole week without it was not an option. So that dear man jogged in the heat a mile or so away just to get me some socks and a curling iron.

I have been bad about not packing my sons tooth brushes. Thank goodness you can usualy find these in the hotel gift shop.

wherever we go there is always something we forget, like last year our 1st trip to WDW & i forgot my swimsuits, couple of years ago on a trip to Spain i forgot to pack all of DH's t-shirts & shirts (well he shouldn't have left all the packing to me), and recently on a weekend at Lumley castle no hairbrush and no toothpaste. I do actually make lists but then i forget to add one or two or three items to the list! :confused3

Last year when I went to WDW with my now ex-husband, we had just gotten to the airport when I realized I had forgotten my Driver's Licence!! I couldn't get on the plane without it, not to mention Pleasure Island (you constantly have to show ID).

Thank God for two things: (A) we lived 15 minutes from the local airport we were leaving from (Islip, Long Island) and (B) we had arrived two and a half hours before our flight, so I had plenty of time to hop back in the car, drive back home, and pick up my licence.

Whoa! I will never make that mistake again!!

i see a lot of you have forgotten tix and had to buy again.... but I've heard if you paid with a charge card they can look it up for you, check the tickets to see how many days are left and cancel the old tickets, give a new one. anyone else heard this? also take a pic for your phone of the info on the receipt or the ticket back info so in case you forget/lose them you have the info. I havent had to do this.....yet...... but my nephew did or at least thats how he explained it.

Yes, this is true. I upgraded all of our tickets last year the CM showed me what code I needed to keep up with. It is also wise to make a copy of the back of your tickets and pack it somewhere in your luggage. I have that code in my palm phone and in a message emailed to me in the event my phone is lost and my luggage never arrives or my info binder is confiscated for holding Disney secrets:rotfl2:

not disney related, but a similar thing happened to a lady I work with. Last fall her husband and her flew to Las Vegas. She boarded in Maine ok. What she didn't realize was her license had expired. TSA caught it when she tried to board for return flight. She could not get on and they had to rent a car and drive back to Maine.

One vacation we went to visit my in laws and forgot to pack my shirts. I couldnt' believe I didn't pack 1 shirt for me. While we were on a road trip, I forgot our cooler in the parking lot of a rest area. I have forgotten my ds shoes in the hotel, realized it 200 miles later. I have also forgotten my other son's glasses at the hotel. I'm looking at the kid saying something is not right. Couldn't put my finger on it, until we were driving down the highway and I looked in the rearview mirror and say.... ds where are your glasses. He said I don't know. He wore them everyday. How do you forget to put them on? The hotel fedex'd them to me the next day.

My husband and I were flying to Hawaii and half-way through the flight I realized I had forgot our game tickets for the Hawaii football game which was only 2 days away! I was considering calling my mom to fed-ex them to me, but tried the college's ticket desk first. Since I ordered the tickets with a credit card over the phone, and could verify the info, the ticket agent let me do a will-call before the game. :worship:

Okay, I can't believe I am even admitting to this one. I forgot my 10yr old daughter at our hotel at Niagra Falls a few years ago. We were there with Grandma, Grandpa, and an Aunt & Uncle. We had three vehicles there. After we were all done loading up the vehicles we pulled out. I thought my daughter was in her Aunt & Uncle's car with her cousins (pre cell phone days). Thank goodness we had made plans to stop and eat about 15 or 20 minutes away and realized we had left her at the hotel (at least it was a Hilton, it was a nice hotel) Anyhow as soon as we realized our mistake, we panicked and it seemed like it took us hours to get back to the hotel. She is 20 now and still enjoys telling people her parents abandoned her in a foreign country.

It's not so much what I didn't pack but what I did. My sister and I were on a cruise a few years back. As most people know, you have to have your checked luggage outside of your stateroom on the last night. My sister put clothes that she planned on wearing on the dresser. While she was in the shower, I packed the clothes and put out the luggage. The next morning, she didn't have her planned outfit. She had to walk around Miami in her night gown. It was like a large gray tee shirt that came to her knees. You wouldn't know it was a nightgown. But she still won't stop talking about it. I would have given her my clothes since we are the same size but due to the fact that I am six inches taller than her, the nightie would have been really short on me. :)

Sunscreen, and here's the kicker I'm allergic to most brands. We were staying onsite and the only brand Disney sells is Banana Boat, and I can only wear Hawaiian Tropic. I spent the whole week avoiding the sun, I felt like I was a vampire or something.

I've also forgotten my toothbrush, but that was a much easier fix.

I have you all beat!! The first time we took our DD5, I forgot my credit card!! Hard to buy all the other things we forgot and all the stuff we would need without that!!

We had a very early morning flight out so we booked a room at the airport (thank goodness). It was an hour from home and the official start of vacation. When we arrived to check in, I realized what I had done. I switched purses and left the CC in the old one!!! Duh!! So we had to hop back in the car, drive an hour back home and turn around right back to the hotel. Sure was a good thing b/c I may not have noticed it was missing if we got on a flight right away. So now I check, double check and triple check my purses after a switch.

I don't feel so bad now - I thought I was the only person who forgot to pack the obvious!

Here's my list of things I've forgotten (thankfully not all in the same trip!)

Toothbrush - last year half my household forgot to pack theirs. It's a good thing I threw in a dollar store pack of 5 toothbrushes
Hair brush & comb - not cool, especially since youngest DD has the kind of hair that gets tangled if you look at it too hard!!
Socks - had to borrow DH's
Underwear - had to buy some for myself and youngest DD
The biggest goof - I packed absolutely no bottoms on a recent weekend trip. We had to make a last minute luggage switch, DH volunteered to repack my bag and didn't pack the entire stack of shorts/ capris! Had to go out and buy 2 because there was no way I would have survived the weekend with one sand coloured pants!

Okay, well in 2000, I forgot my BP meds and really had to have them. So, I called up a local Walgreens and somehow, even though I don't usually have my prescrip. there, they got in touch with my dr. & got info faxed there and then they delivered them to CBR! So that worked out but now I always check that for sure. :)

In '05, I forgot my curling iron so, on way to airport we quickly stopped at Walgreens(again) and got one on clearance for $2.50! Of course it fell apart shortly after we got back but at least I had it at WDW! (gotta have it just for the bangs, but still need it!) Thought I'd never do that again, well...I was good in '06, but...

In '07, I used it just before we were leaving, so in an effort to cool it off so I could pack it I put it in the freezer, yes the freezer :lmao: , and then had to stop at Walgreens yet again when I forgot I put it in there! Now I keep that curling iron permanently in the suitcase! :rolleyes1 Oh, yeah, I made a point of getting some great sunglasses to take on the trip. Of course I left them on the couch right next to my pile of paper work like ressies, tickets, etc.. So, I had no sunglasses in sunny WDW and didn't want to buy unless I found something great and I didn't, so my eyes suffered!

My DD17 would always forget her toothbrush if I didn't pack it for her so she's lucky! She can pack everything else but always forgets that :confused3 We also forgot her money last yr. Her dad had given her some $, plus she had some she saved, and she put it together on the counter, which got under other stuff and of course we didn't have it in WDW!

And, not disney, but when I was about 11, we were going on a family vacation to Mexico. We had left in the middle of the night and were somewhere in Iowa,(live near Chicago), when suddenly my dad asked my mom where the tickets were. :scared: Tickets to get into the country, not sure exactly how that worked, border passes or something, it was about,.... a long time ago :scared: My Mom had to tell him she forgot them!:scared1: We had to drive all the way back home. That was not a pleasant trip for a day or two!

Oh well. I always make lists and alway think, 'this time I've got it all, won't forget anything, and it's always something!

Last year I thought I was being super organized and packed a week early. The night before I thought I checked each of the suitcases. Our first few days were outside Disney, shopping, visiting relatives and going to Disney Quest. Our first day onsite we unpacked and started to get ready to go to a park. Of course this is when my DS7 asks, "Where are my sneakers?" It turns out he used them the day before we left and we never realized it. They were sitting on the floor of his bedroom when we returned the following week.
This year, I've made a note to myself to lock the suitcases after I pack:rotfl2:

I have a "packing list" for the vacations we go on. AND I always manage, even with those, to forget something.

Most of the time we can pick it up but once I forgot all my prescription meds. Luckily, my mother was able to Fed Ex them to our hotel. I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

We did this too. Got all the way to AK, which took a while and DD17(then probably 13 or so) didn't have her ticket. We checked with guest services or something to see if computers could somehow access our account as our ticket were on our room key. They actually gave a complimentary one day hopper so we didn't have to go back! :goodvibes That worked out great and it was really nice. Unfortunately we did it again on another trip to MK. We got there and I thought she had the card carrier and she thought I had it so we had no room key and no tickets. I'd actually forgotten about the previous incident until we went to the hospitality service desk outside the park and they gave us both a one day hopper card! I felt a bit wierd cause I really had forgotten about the early trip thing but both times it worked out great and they were very nice about it all! :wizard:

Actually funny story about that second time also losing our room key. We had to go to CBR front desk to get new keys and they printed a bill up to that date. I noticed a charge for another 5 days of hoppers on the bill. I had originally bought 5 hoppers and to use with older nonexpired tickets. But there were 2 separate charges for 5 day hoppers for 2 of us. Asked the CM about this and she said, you bought 2 more 5day hopper and told her no we hadn't bought 5 more and didn't need them and she then saw farther down the list that the 2nd charge had been credited so I was relieved. Figured it was all taken care of. Later we were checking all cards at the desk to see what was left at the end of the trip and on our room keys we should have had none left and she said we had 5 more! I figured out where they came from and told her we hadn't paid for them and she said we could keep them but I made her go check it out. She came back and said her managers or w.e. said it was their(Disney's) mistake and go ahead and use them and have a great time!! We ended up going home with 4 old days each and 5 unexpected free hoppers so a total of 9 days nonexp. left!! Okay, so that went off in a tangent, but stemmed from us forgetting our key cards! Some great disney magic!:cheer2:

This is not disney related but I once flew out of town for a very important job interview and when I got to the hotel I realized I did not have my brush, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste and makeup!:scared1: Luckily, the hotel had samples of the everything except the makeup. One of the girls working at the front desk let me borrow some of her makeup and off I went to the interview. I was so frazzled because I am normally a really orgranized person, but on that paricular trip I forgot all of important things. Oh yeah...did I mention I also forgot to pack my suit??? I had to go buy something that really was not a appropriate for the type of interview I was attending (think Corporate America Fortune 500 type company) but luckily I was able to pull it off but I was really kind of insecure on the inside all day. And I got the job!

Now I am so Type A about packing. I may overpack sometimes, but I don't forget anything. And now with a child I am even more Type A. My child does not know how to travel light. Toys, clothes, food/snacks, blankets, etc....it takes me longer to pack his things than it does to pack all my things.!:)

Going to Bahamas, I forgot contact solution. That was a hassle because the sundries shop at the hotel didn't have any. There was also no local stores nearby. I think the hotel had to call another store for it. That was one expensive bottle of contact solution.

During past trip to WDW, I forgot contact solution AGAIN. But this one was easier because it's Florida! They had it everywhere so we just stopped by Publix to pick it up.

The one thing I couldn't pick up at Publix was ... a bra. Yes. I forgot to pack bras. I had packed sports bras for the park and was actually wearing a sports bra (more comfortable for the 2-day drive). It ended up not mattering much though. As long as I had some support!

And I'm typically not forgetful! I normally makes lists ahead of time, pack everything the morning of since I still use some of the items the same day (ie. I don't have a separate vacation toothbrush), and never leave anything important behind. This past vacation was stressful because I had to bring work with me so that ended up being my main concern. Packed all the books and teacher study guides and textbooks and laptop ... all of that, I had!

A few years ago, when we went to WDW for the holidays, I forgot to pack underwear and socks for myself. I had to buy them at the resort store for a pretty penny.

Ok I'm back from our trip and I wanted to let everyone know what it was that I forgot. I felt really stupid for leaving it. I spent an entire night making a Pirate hat for my daughter to wear to the Pirate and Princess party and I was very happy with the finished product. I wanted to pack it last to make sure that it didn't crushed or damaged in anyway. Well in case you haven't guess it already I left it on the arm of the sofa where I had set it down. I was kicking myself when I figured out that I had left it. I ended up buying Jenna a Princess pirate set of mouse ears. She walked around telling everyone that she could hang keys from her pirate earring.:rotfl2:

I don't feel so bad now listening to everyones stories, on our last trip to DW we forgot my DS's suitcase, we get to the airport everyone gets their luggage and my DS asks where is my bag :confused3 , needless to say DH does 80 back home and then back to the airport, I think thats why they say be at the airport 2 hours in advance:rotfl: also the same trip we forgot DS's underwear and sneakers and DH forgot his digital camera, needless to say we spent our first day at walmart buying a new digital camera which cost $$$, sneakers and underwear that was one costly mistake. I'm wasn't into making list before but I already have my list made for this years trip and I will be doing all the packing myself.

We drive to Disney, and this is something my husband brought that we didn't need. I had unpacked our big suitcase filled with "winter clothes" to put our summer clothes in for the trip. I put our winter clothes in another suitcase and the KNUCKLE HEAD brought the suitcase with our winter clothes!! (we had our other suitcase). I ended up emptying out the winter clothes and throwing them away (they were old anyway) and using that suitcase for souvenirs!!

well it wasnt anything iforgot to pack it was my DS#1. since i plan our trips far in advance i like to have everything in hand long before we go. so a few days before we leave i always start to pack my stuff, we my DW and i usually pack our stuff at the same time. so we can make sure that we pack sunscreen any meds we need etec. all of the essentials. so this way when the crunch time arrives we can focus on our 2 teen sons. well they always tell my wife they can pack by themselves so i leave it alone. well this last trip after we get back to our room after a long day my son informs us that he forgot all of his underwear. so of to downtown disney we went to buy some. did we have fun with him after that. when he leaves for college i always ask him if he packed his underwear.

Stuff I've forgotten (not necessarily on WDW trips):

Contact case
Contact solution (manage to bring one and not the other)
Dad's pillow (camping trip as a kid)
Batteries (in the room at POP - ALL the extras, thankfully we made it through breakfast at Chef Mickey's with dying batteries)
Extra memory card (spent time in line deleting pics I didn't want/didn't like)
Shampoo (2 week trip to Europe - remembered the conditioner though)
Disney For Kids By Kids (book I bought for friends daughter to look at on the plane, first trip to Disney for her)

That's all I can think of now.

I took everything we'd ever need, and I mean everything...

Well, I got out my little guy's shoes for our first day at MK...no socks. Haha!! Luckily, he refused to wear anything but his Lightning McQueen sandals the entire time, and this mama doesn't do socks and sandals. Hehe!!

Um one year I forgot my birth control pills. :headache: I had just got a refill. I ended up leaving the refill at home and taking the empty package with me. Needless to say, I always doublecheck my medications now.

I forgot my extra contacts. Keep in mind my prescription is OVER double the legal limit for blindness. Luckily, the pair I was wearing miraculously lasted me the entire trip.

Well, we ALMOST forgot it! The second time my family and I went, we were halfway down the block (we were driving from Chicago to Orlando), when my dad noticed he forgot the CAMERA! :scared1:
We drove back and grabbed it, but my poor dad never lived it down and on each family trip after that we always made sure he had his camera.
