Ok, so a few details. This is going to be for our 10th anniversary, which is actually 4/29 (we just celebrated 8 yrs last week at Disney! :lovestruc ) but we are going in Dec because it's a lot cheaper! ;)

Land : 12/5-12/10 hopefully at WL with rented DVC points
Sea : 12/10-12/13 on Wonder
VR : 12/12 on beach at Castaway Cay
Attendants: DD (will be 6 then) and DS (will be 3 then)

So far, we have no idea who will be coming with us. My bf/MOH said that she would come, and my parents will most likely come also. DH's parents probably will not be able to afford it, and his mother won't get on a plane anyway. My brother may come, but he'll have 3 kids under 4 at the time. My sister wants to come, but she has 4 kids who will all be in school, plus it will be an expensive trip for her also. I doubt that DH's sister's and family's will make the trip. I do have 2 sets of grandparents in FL who may come, but my grandmother suffer's from Alzheimers, so that may be out for them too. It could end up just being the 4 of us, which is fine, we understood that not everyone could come with us when we decided to do it.

I've got a newsletter made and ready to send out, i'll post that tonight when i get home.

I've spent a little bit of time looking at dresses, (ok a LOT of time ;) ) but haven't been to a shop yet. I have no problems buying the dress on ebay or some place online, but i'd like to atleast try a few on first before I make a decision.

Here are a few that I really like.

not to sure about this one anymore, i don't think the top will look good on me, as i have no top. :sad2:
http://www.alfredangelo.com/shared/images/products/0/58ebc5de-3fe5-4f2e-9772-a55f696c0963.normal.jpg

It's basically between these 2
http://www.alfredangelo.com/shared/images/products/0/0c50bfb1-0b21-4360-b5a5-92b1f6f774c1.normal.jpghttp://www.alfredangelo.com/shared/images/products/0/3a98f691-479f-456f-a197-fc7c7ee1d605.normal.jpg

I'm acutally more worried about what to have DH wear. He's not a dressy up kind of guy, and would rather be in a t-shirt and shorts. :headache: So i'm trying to find a nice COOL outfit for the beach ceremony. I'd love to find a nice light cotton/linen island shirt, and maybe some loose khaki pants. And i'm not even going to bother looking for clothes for the kids now. DD is 4, yet the size of a 2 yr old, so who knows what size she'll be wearing in a year and a half.

Beautiful dresses Jennifer! I know what you mean about hubby. If I do get a gown (now I am saying 'if', not 'when') I will need to find something for hubby to wear. It was fine when I had the dress and matching shirt, but don't know what that would look like if I wear a gown.

I had all of those gowns on my list of try ons!! Go to bestbridalprices.com because I think I saw most of them on there. Except that first one. Then you can see the prices there try on at a store and go with the best deal! Hmm... I'm trying to remember if Alfred Angelo had dresses on that website now... I think so.

:thumbsup2 So we have 3 bridal shops here in town. 1 David's bridal, and 2 smaller local chains. Of the 2 smaller ones, only 1 is an authorized Alfred Angelo distributor, and didn't have the dress i really liked.

http://www.alfredangelo.com/shared/images/products/0/3a98f691-479f-456f-a197-fc7c7ee1d605.normal.jpg

But they did have the other one, and i was really pleased with how well it looked on me! I was afraid it would be too "lacy" for a beach wedding, but it actually looks very beautiful and really sparkly! :lmao:
http://www.alfredangelo.com/shared/images/products/0/0c50bfb1-0b21-4360-b5a5-92b1f6f774c1.normal.jpg
the train is just a little bit longer than i would like, but it's fixable.

I also tried on the other one you all liked, and it actually looked really good too. It does come with straps, so that helps.

Then she brought out this other one!! :lovestruc :lovestruc Oh it was perfect! A beautiful champagne color, tight sheath, lace and seaquins, so beautiful. I'm going to have to seach and see if I can find a pic of the dress to show you. Of course that dress was $875 so it's definately out of the question, but beautiful nonetheless. ;)

So then i do a quick trip over to the other store, and find out they don't even carry AA. She shows me their informal section, but it was still a little bit too formal for my taste. Then we go into the sale room, and I find 1 dress, not something i'd looked at before, but it was pretty. It was another sheath, had a little bit of lace and sparkle on the chest, but not overpowering. And the actual dress was plain, with an apron back that opened to a bit of lace on the train with another seaquin and pearl design. very pretty, and on sale for $199!! :thumbsup2 I really didn't expect to like a "plain" dress like that, but it looked really good.

I really doubt i'll find anything at DB tomorrow. I have 3 saved to my favorites there, but they really aren't my style. But we'll see. I really really really want to try on that other AA one, so i may have to do a bit of traveling to find a store somewhere by that has it.

OK, another report to keep up with, I just read Lynn and Tim's. I hope your wedding goes as well as her's.

OK, that's right, I'm a guy and no I'm NOT gay...my wife calls it "My homosexual tendences are showing again":scared:

I try and read a few when I can, I'm hoping someone will need a "FATHER OF THE BRIDE" to give them away....HEY, ANY CHANCE OF GOING TO DISNEY OR DCL IS FINE WITH ME>:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Plus, I'M an expert, I have given my 2 daughters away...:sad1: :sad1:

OK, didn't mean to start a new thread here...

If you have any questions about the renewal, just ask, I will try and help...

I love your pics!! I'd love to see more!! I'll send you a PM!

As for questions, yeah, i got a few. ;)

1) I'm having trouble determining from all the different pics, Is the ceremony actually on the beach, or is it on the little wooden pier/platform I see in one of your pics?

2) your cake reception after the ceremony is in Palo, right?? Can you add hor-dourves to that reception? And i know the VR package says dinner the night of the ceremony for B&G only, but can you add your party also?

3) did you use group reservations to book your cabins?? how was that?

Ok, i think that's it for now.

Jennifer,

That dress is awesome. I love it and if I had a cute little shape like you, I'd want something like that. It's hard to find somethign lightweight for a destination wedding type. We want pretty, but want to be cool! Congrats on finding it!!!

It's so funny, i went in with like 8 dresses to try one, and this one jsut one i picked as a "filler". :lmao: And it's the ONE!!

Beautiful dress!

Thanks!!

Jennifer,

That dress is awesome. I love it and if I had a cute little shape like you, I'd want something like that. It's hard to find somethign lightweight for a destination wedding type. We want pretty, but want to be cool! Congrats on finding it!!!

Thanks! Lightweight was definately a big concern! Some of the "informal" dresses were still so heavy and lots of skirts underneath! this one is perfect!

Awwww....perfect dress! I love it, kinda similar to mine, trumpet style with not such a big train! PERFECT! Isn't it great when you find the "one!" :goodvibes

It is great!! I'm glad to have that checked off my list. Now i just have to get up the courage to actually buy it!

So i checked around online last night and couldn't find any websites that carry that dress!! Can you really not get a David's bridal dress anywhere else? I mean, all those online discount places don't carry DB?? I only found 1 on Ebay, but it was a sz 0. :sad2:

Another thing, the woman at David's Bridal said i would get the floor model. Why?? Can't I order the dress instead? If I'm paying $450 for a dress, I'd want one that not 100 other girls have tried on! Plus there could be snags on the lace and seaquins or pearls missing, PLUS i'd have to pay to get it cleaned BEFORE i wear it. Unless they plan on discounting it a lot more, I'd want to order a brand new one.

I totally understand about not wanting a sample dress. Were you able to find the designer of the dress? That would make it easier for you to search online. Or does David's Bridal not have designers and just DB style number? Can you order the dresses directly from the website? then you'd get a new one for sure.

Can't order from the website, and it's a Galina dress. I've checked on line, and can't find any like it.

That dress is gorgeous. I'd INSIST on a new gown and NOT the floor sample. Get it in writing on your receipt, too. I did this with 2 items I just "ordered" at Davids. I am sure if I hadn't put it in writing on the receipt, they'd have done whatever they wanted. You're right though, $450 is the price for a new dress.

Ok, i think that's it for now.

1) Yes the ceremony was on the beach....between the family and the teen beach.

2) Yes it is in Palo...kids are welcome(the only time they are allowed in there). Don't know about hor-dourves, there was only 3 of us. I don't know about dinner, our son wanted to go to the club. I do know they have a big room that seats about 12, you may be able to resev. it if you call ahead...

3) We did have 2 cabins booked, but the other couple had to back out because of work. I was able to link dinner ressie through DCL.

So i never posted how DH and I met. It's an interesting and long story!! :lmao:

I left college after my Sophmore year to go work for a cruise line in the Children's Dept. (No, not DCL, they weren't around back then.) I stayed there for 2 years, learning more about myself, and other people, than i could have possibly imagined. It was such a life changing experience. :thumbsup2 In a good way!! I did some serious growing up on that ship, and it has totally shaped who i am as a person now. Anyway, after i left the ship, i had no money :rotfl: and had to move back in with my parents! YEAH, that didn't last too long. I got a job at a Travel Agency in town and moved out within 2 months. I had a roommate, but still wasn't making enought to pay all my bills. I still had student loans to pay, and rent, a car payment, and lots of cc bills. :guilty: So i had to get another job. But i already had a regular M-F 8-5 job, so what exactly could I do?? I certainly didn't want to flip burgers for $6/hr, i did that in high school, and i wanted a bit more money (had to start saving up for my Disney Vacations! ) So i got a job in a bar :lmao: Joe was the 1st person I saw in the bar. January 27, 1999 And funny, he was a bit of a jerk to me!! Really, he wasn't a nice person. We didn't speak again for about another month, during which time i started dating the manager of the bar (Yeah, i know. All sorts of no-no's in this story:confused3 ) Well, slowly Joe and I started talking during work, (yeah he was a regular) and after about 3 weeks of talking, he finally got up the courage to ask me out. He was so nervous about it, I just had to say yes. It was too cute. March 10, 1999 So I met him at Olive Garden (was smart enought not to tell him wear i lived. :rotfl2: ). Truthfully, i can't remember how the date went. But he says it wasn't that great. :rotfl: But at the end, i asked him when we would go out again. I had fun, he was easy to talk to. So we made plans for a movie later in the week. The next day he sent me flowers to work.!  (he doesn't do that anymore:mad: )

But then he found out i was also seeing the manager guy. He didn't like that. Whatever!! Like after just 1 date it's supposed to be totally exclusive and whatever! Gosh, i didn't even kiss him (dh that is). So then we were back to not talking again.:rotfl: I don't think we had another date at all. Finally around the end of March, i wanted to buy a new car, and Joe is an automotive technician. Trying to make up with him, i asked him to go car shopping with me. Well he was still mad at me, but he went anyway. He was no help at all, and I picked out the cutest most adorable little car ever!!! It was a Suzuki X-90
(not my car - stock photo)
http://www.izook.com/tech/projects/x90/images2/myx-90s.jpg
DH hated it, he called it a roller skate! :rotfl: (this bites him in the butt later)

Anyway, during this time that Joe and I are not speaking to each other, things with Manager guy are getting a little weird. He's older than I was at the time, and was looking to settle down. I didn't really want to. So on April 4, 1999 (Easter Sunday) we got into a huge fight and broke up. Even thought i did the breaking up, I was still upset about it. So what did I do?? I called Joe very upset, and he came over to make sure I was ok. He never left. Seriously.

We went out for pizza and a movie that night (sunday), and he stayed the night. the next night, Monday, we went bar hopping with my roommate, and stayed the night again. Friday he asked me to marry him! :rotfl: I know what you're thinking!! It is insane, and crazy. And totally cliche, but "you'll know when you find him". :lovestruc

Now came the hard part! I had to introduce my Fiance to my parents! :scared1: And the worst part, it's not like we were in a different state!! My parents lived 5 minutes away from me. So yeah, hey mom, how's it going, Easter dinner was great last week, by the way, meet my fiance. Didn't go over very well. But they came around, and now my entire family just loves him.

29apr00
05-13-2008, 03:21 PM
So while he did ask that friday night, there was no ring, no down on 1 knee type of thing. It was just, "I love you, this works for us, do you want to get married?" ;)

After we told my parents and everyone met everyone else we went ring shopping. To give you all an idea of how well we DIDN'T know each other at the time, I about died when I saw dh fill out the paperwork to finance the ring he picked out. I had no idea he made that much. (yeah, it's not so much now with 2 kids. :rotfl: ) So we picked out the ring, left it to get sized, and went back to our apartment, (yes, roommate moved out quickly after he moved in). So we are sitting on teh couch watching tv, and my stomach starts to hurt. Really bad. in less than an hour i can barely sit up right, and standing isn't an option. :guilty: So Joe rushes me to the hospital and the DR in the ER goes thru all the normal questions for a 22 yr old single female complaining of abdominal pain. When he finally ruled out STD and pregnancy, he got into some serious diagnosing. Thankfully we quickly ruled out appendicitis. He said he wasn't sure, but it could be an infection of my fallipoian tube. :scared1: He sent me off to my OB. My OB wants to do an emergency Laparscopy to check it out. So off to surgery i go. In the end, it was a ruptured ovarian cyst, about 2cm big :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: OMG that was the worst experince of my life. At home recovering, dh brings in my engagement ring, perfectly sized for my hand, gets down on the floor, (as i was laying in the bed) and asked me to marry him. :lovestruc

That was April 22, 1999. We were married April 29, 2000. Now we are getting set to plan our 10th Anniversray Vow Renewal on Disney Cruise Line.

Newsletters are ready to mail out!!

My newsletter, the "Not just for Kids" Cruise letter, and a letter i wrote explaining the what's and why's of this.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/STDinfo001.jpg

The newsletter is 4 pages long:guilty: so to keep it together i tied a ribbon around them. I found this cute little heart favor tie and added it. Come to find out, it matches the heart in my logo! :thumbsup2

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/STDinfo002.jpg

I put a Mickey Stamper on the envelope and printed the addresses in Disney Font.

Thanks! I can't believe I did all that!!

So i went to the post office yesterday to get some stamps. Asked for Disney stamps, they didnt have any. Fine, just give me the love stamps. Don't have any of those either! WTH!?!? Apparently even though they knew it was coming, they didn't bother to print up new stamps with the increased postage! :headache: So all they have is the liberty bell and a purple heart. I asked about just getting the older ones, and a seperate 1c stamp. Nope, they got rid of all the older ones. :headache: How stupid!

So my beautiful cute little mickey envelopes have the Purple Heart on them. And i doubt any money from my stamps goes to veteran's at all!

Yeah for the dress! :cool1: :cool1: I love it! It fits you perfectly! Our dresses are very similar, I love the close trumpet silhouette. My first wedding dress was the complete opposite. Wow, I feel like I've been running around in circles!

I kept looking for your planning journal (one Jennifer to another!), and I couldn't find it (I apparently wasn't looking very hard). Then when I did find it, I found I had read most of it already but never commented. By the end, I felt like I had deja vu because I had seen your dress on the dress thread.

Wow! I'm tired from all this running! :rotfl:

At any rate, it's wonderful that you renewing your vows, and what a great place to do it! I was terrified of cruising until our first in January, and now we're booked for two more! I'll be cruising the month before your renewal.

I love my husband! He's so great, if you can't marry a doctor, marry an automotive technician! :lmao:

So I leave work yesterday at 5pm, get in my van, and it won't start. :( The radio and A/C work, but the ignitation just goes click click click. I can totally see my $$$$ for my cruise deposit going straight down the toilet. So i call Joe, who luckily works just down the road for me, thus why we drive together. :thumbsup2 "Did you leave the headlights on?" NO! What do i look like, an idiot?? Besides, the sun rises at 5am and sets at 10pm! I haven't used the headlights in weeks.;) So he says he'll find a ride down to me, and look at it. Meanwhile, i have to scramble and find someone to pick the kids up from daycare before it closes!! You know they charge $1/minute you'r late!! Thankgoodness MIL was close by and could get them. Joe shows up, changes the battery and we're on our way! :thumbsup2 Screw AAA, less than 20 minutes after I walk out of work, find the car dead, call him, he gets there and fixes the car, we're on our way!! WOO HOO! Love that man! And best of all.....my cruise deposit is safe!! :lmao:

Joey is sick. His allergies are driving him crazy, and now he has this horrible hacking cough. Almost a CROUP-LIKE cough!! Darn non-vaxing parents!! :furious: So after his hacking cough becomes a vomit inducing cough in the middle of the restaurant, it's off to the dr for us. Luckily it's not croup, or asthma, or broncitis. It's just an upper respitory infection, irrated by his allergy drainage. But would the dr give him a RX? NO! Of course not!! ABX's are bad!! Suffering child is good!!:furious: We love to hear them chock and cough and struggle to sleep! Dr says find him a good anthistime for his allergies, one that also has a decongestant and cough suppresent in it. DUH!!! There aren't any allergy meds with a cough suppresent! Coughing isn't a sympton of seasonal allergies, which is why we came to the dr in the first place!! So i finally found Childrens Lyquid Zyrtec for him, and Pediacare cough. Let's hope it does the trick.

now....onto the good news!! Dh says i can have the entire stimulus check for my cruise payment!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: We were originally going to buy Jackie a new bed. But it's not like she's outgrown her old one, and there is nothing wrong with it. So she'll just wait another year and I get all that money!!!    The stimulus comes really really close to paying my trip IN FULL!!! Granted, i still need airfare, and to pay for the VR, but atleast the cruise is paid. I'm so stinkin' excited!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Now all i need to do is wait for the mailman to deliver my check! :rotfl2:

I've spent a little bit of time looking at dresses, (ok a LOT of time ;) ) but haven't been to a shop yet. I have no problems buying the dress on ebay or some place online, but i'd like to atleast try a few on first before I make a decision.

Here are a few that I really like.

not to sure about this one anymore, i don't think the top will look good on me, as i have no top. :sad2:

I;m so conflicted right now! I'm all set to book and pay for the cruise. but part of me wants to use my Disney Visa card for it, because that will give me lots of points, plus you get shipboard credit using your visa card. But i don't have that much room on the card, so i'd have to make a payment, no big deal, but wait for that to post, then book the cruise and pay for it, too much hassle! (come on, this is 2008! The payment is posted and applied right away, it's not like i have to wait a week or something.)

ARHG!! I just want to do it now!!!

Next question......do I sneak the dress is, or let dh see it?? It's no big deal that i bought it, but should he not see this dress like he didn't see the wedding dress, or is it not much of a big deal this time???

I agree with Indy... if the two of you don't mind, then go for it. But if either of you don't want to, then don't.

I'd say go for the points. You can use them on your cruise!

I don't think you have to use your card for the entire cost of the cruise to get the points do you ? Check on the other DCL VR thread, I know a couple of the girls over there had talked about it a while back. I am at work, so I can't search on here much during the day. I always try to get the most bang for my buck, so I would personally charge at least part of it for the points and extra shipboard credits !

How exciting to have your dress in...i'd be trying it on all the time!

Okay...really don't want to start a flame war here but I can't help but comment on what you said above..about your little boys being sick because of non-vaxing parents?..not sure if that was a joke or not...hard to read tone on the internet. Anyway...if you did vax your son and believe in vaccines than how could a non-vaxed child get your child sick...he should be immune..right? Obviously..I'm a non-vaxing parent and strongly know the Truth about vaccines and how mislead most parents are....hate to say it but your poor son is more than likely sick and with allergies Because of the vaccines that weakend his immune system :(

you're right, i don't want to get into a flame war here. My son is vaccinated because i've done my research and feel that it is best for my family. Your child isn't vaccinated because hopefully you've done your research and feel it's best for you. Fine, your decision. I'm not getting into a vax/non-vax debate here.

Oh, the vow renewal sounds so sweet! I love the fact that your DD and DS are going to be attendants!! I can't wait until I can say it's going to be my 10 year vow renewal!!

Oh, I love the first dress out of the three you posted. I like all three, but the first one is super cute. I wanted to do it for my wedding, but it just didn't seem right for me; I wanted a princess poofy dress! But I like the dress sooo much. I think it's perfect for a vow renewal. I may have to buy it anyway, lol ... No matter what you will wear you will be gorgeous.

Congrats and cant wait to hear about trip detail! Your planning looks great already!!

Dude ... I seriously need to make it a practice of reading the whole thread before I post lol. I saw a pic of someone in a dress I'm assuming it's you and I do like what you chose. I just get so excited when I see something I have to post right away .... sorry! Lol.

What are you talking about?? You're GORGEOUS!!! Seriously!! You've got beautiful coloring, and your hair! I love it!

Please, I have no chest, am as pale as Casper the friendly ghost, my hair is angel hair thin and OHHH so straight, and even after having 2 children, my hip bones still stick out like a 12 yr old. Oh man, and my CHEEK BONES!! Hello, Chip and Dale's long lost sister here! ;) It runs in the family

OMG, you are funny :lmao: and WAY too hard on yourself! You don't look like Casper or Chip & Dale's Sister!! You are gorgeous too! I can relate to the no chest thing. I don't normally wear "real" bras, just the "Limited Too" type, :rotfl: so I've never really known my true size until I went to a bra shop to get fitted for a strapless bra for my wedding gown, I'm a size 30 AA!! :scared1: Who knew that was a size! Let's see.....I picked up my dress last week. Tried it on last night. Yeah, you really need to wear the super suckers under that thing! ;) It was just a tiny bit tight, but I also think i'm a bit bloated now, ya know. :worried: So i'll be looking into something for that.

Booked the cruise last week too!! WOO HOO!! And a balcony cabin! Big splurge, considering it's only for a 3 day cruise! I've always said a balcony was a big waste of money, considering how little amount of time you actually spend in teh cabin. But I figured this is a special cruise, and I knew Joe would like it. Now i just have to keep myself completly calm and not freak out at the thougth of my 3 and 6 yr olds on a balcony!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: And my bf is booked in an inside cabin directly across the hall from us. That'll be nice!

And I got some sand colors to try the sand ceremony. Ok, how exaclty do I get this home afterwards?? everything i've seen online has the vases open at the top! I'll obviously need to close it off to get home. What to do???

Oh yeah, I called DFTW too!!! I know it's way early and the WC will probaly tell me to call later, but the guy i talked to on teh phone, Adam, took down all my info, including the date of the cruise. Of course, i may have left of the year. oops. Oh well, we'll just see what she says.

Here is their actual website: http://www.spanx.com/home/index.jsp

You can also find them in a lot of retail stores and department stores. They are usually in the hosiery or lingerie section.

They have a ton of different shapewear, but even the basic "power panties" rock. It's like you instantly drop 5-10 pounds, and they are amazingly comfortable. I wore them under my bridesmaid dress last summer, and I was able to dance the night away!

(P.S. I don't work for them...they just really work!! :rotfl2: )

I'm going to attemp to "Mickey-ize" my bridal shoes. i am sooooo not a crafty type person at all, so we'll see how this works. I'd eventually like to do more to the shoes, maybe some frilly lace and bows, i mean, after all, we're talking FLIP FLOPS for an important occassion such as this!!! ::yes:: But we'll see how many crystals end up thrown at the wall before i attempt anything bigger. ;)

Congrats on the balcony cabin-- cant wait to hear all about it, someday we will cruise!

We bought our sand ceremony set- it came with a wine bottle type stopper--for travel it has a foam stopper to use. I think it will work- we will obviously have to store it upright-that will probably be the biggest problem!

People are coming!!!!   I'm so excited that my family is actually planning on attending!!

My parents booked yesterday, and my mother is desperatly trying to plan with my sister to come, but i know my sister can't afford it so mom will probably end up paying. And she said my brother and his wife and 3 kids are planning on coming too and will be working on getting it booked this week!! WOO HOO!!

I feel bad that no one from Dh's side will make it. They are not big for traveling, or celebrating, or just in general leaving the house, so this is definalty a very foreign idea for them. I don't think his parents have even acknowledged to my that they ever received the STD! And we see them 2-3x a week!

So i need to get around and post pics of the sand vase we attempted to fill, and the shoes that I did make. I just want to get some white bridal type ribbon to go around the side of the shoe, just to froo-froo it up a bit. :thumbsup2

So after watching all the wonderful video's of everyone's ceremony, i was so sad that DCL doesn't offer any video service. So on a whim i emailed a video place that comes highly recommended on this site ;) and he said that he gets lots of requests from brides to re-edit their original video (oh yeah, maybe i should look into that too!) that he is considering the option! He gave me a general price, IF he decided to do it. So hopefully he'll get lots more requestes in the next 18 months and when we get back from our VR I can send him the tape, and he'll send me back a wonderful video like everyone else has!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Ahhh the non-existant professional videographer. I've started thinking about this recently too! I honestly don't know a lot of people that have video cameras so df and I might bite the bullet and buy one before the cruise. It'll be good to have anyway. Ok, so new ribbon, and a better idea, and they STILL aren't done. But i can post what i've got so far. ;)

So i just got cheap basic white flip flops to practice on, now i'm wondering since the dress is ivory, should i try and find ivory FF's?? Then i added pink crystals to the thong parts, and a thin pink ribbon, and what i want to do now is add this white frilly ribbon around the "base" of the shoe, and more pink crystals. unforunatly, my jewel glue won't attach the ribbon to the shoe, so i need a hot glue gun. Will have to borrow that from MIL. But you can atleast get the idea.

Ok, and for the Sand Ceremony, this is what the practice run looks like. DH and I obviously weren't pouring at the same rate, and I ended up topping off afterwards, but i think it looks pretty good. The colors aren't too bad.

Now, also this weekend I finished a cake order for an anniversary cake. It has adorable little daisy's on it. I would post a pic, since this does PAY for the VR, but I don't want to go OT and risk being deleted. The flip flops looked great! Cute Mickey heads!

Whoever asked about the glue used to glue them on - if you can't find jewel glue I used "E6000" glue. It works wonders for stuff like this and dries faster than jewel glue. It's flexible, waterproof, non-flammable and paintable. I just happened to have bought it at the bead store where I got the rhinestones for my DCL shoes.

Anyway....jewel glue may be easier to find but I just wanted to shout out another option.

Things look great here! THIS SITE (http://www.myglassslipper.com/products.cfm/bridal/wedding-flip-flops) has ivory flips in various heights. You might want to take a peek there.

I think I may go with ivory as well. I think white with the deep red dress will look out of place, especially in November. :rotfl2:

:faint: What was I thinking!! I can't wear white shoes in December!! OMG Major Fashion Faux Paux!! ;) ;)

Thanks for the link! I 'll check out the shoes!!

The Mickey flip flops turned out great. I understand the frustration with gluing on crystals for the Mickey heads; we did that for all our placecards, but thankfully the crystals were a little bigger :rotfl:

My brother finally booked his cabin!!  So that makes 5 cabins, and that should be the end of it! (unless my co-worker makes up her mind).

DH and I had talked about paying for his parents to come with us, but I don't think he ever got around to asking them. I'm pretty sure his dad would have been offended by the gesture, but at the same time, my entire family is coming, and no one from his side is. Dh says i'm not allowed to mention the trip at all in front of them, or atlest not tell them my whole family is coming!! :sad2: Obviously they'll figure it out when they see all the pictures! And I'm sure dd will be talking about it soon, because as soon as she finds out her cousins are coming, she's going to be so excited about it!!

Ok, i have to put out a tiny little vent here about DCL. My brother's wife is pg right now with their 3rd child, due in Oct. So, when he went to book he put in 5 people in the cabin, even thought the 5th will be an infant in a crib. But DCL won't allow him to book the same category as everyone else, he has to upgrade to a Cat 4, and be 2 decks up and on the opposite end of the ship from everyone else!! I'm so bummed!!! The only way we could have arranged it, was to "on paper" put the baby in my girlfriends cabin, because everyone else already has 4 booked. But SIL felt a little weird about that so they had to pay more than everyone else, and be on a different deck. I feel really bad about it too.

you don't have to pay more...infants only pay port charges
If your friend is already in a cabin and you add the baby..it shouldn't be more than moving up a catagory

Yes, but they can't afford to go. So we were going to pay for their cabin, but dh thinks that would offend them. So we can't talk about it in front of them at all. :guilty:

But they had to upgrade for a Cat 6 to a Cat 4, which is about $700 more for the 4 of them, plus the PC for the infant.

yes, it is a shame. And the crappy thing is I know his parents COULD afford to go. It would be $1000 for the cruise and they have 17 months to save. they just don't want to. And now i'm forced to not talk about it. :headache:

So then i go check, and it's BACKWARDS!! They do the 4 night cruise, and 3 day land. Dang it! That would have been so cool to do! Almost tempted to change......;)

I bought the 1st items for our welcome bags!!!

I was at Walmart yesterday buying ingredients for some cookies and when i went to sign the receipt, the cashier gave me this adorable little mickey pen, with light up fiber optic wires on the top!! It was so cool!! So i asked her about them, and they had a whole bunch in the lane behind me!! So i stocked up, since they were only $.75 each, and got i think 12 of them!! Not bad, for only 5 welcome bags! :rotfl:

Oh yeah, and I also bought the Disney Embroidery Machine!! :scared1: Now i have to figure out how to use it so i can embroidery the welcome bags!! I just spent $350 to embroider 5 bags, when i probably could have spent $100 and gotten some really nice ones! :rotfl: oh well, now i can make Jackie clothes too!

It's all good. I'm planning on doing the mad hatter cake so i wouldn't use it on the cake anyway, but it would be cute to add to the collection!! As for the price, that seems, unfortunately, to be on par with the rest of L&tT collectible stuff!!

Ok, so i have a few updates now.

2 - Ornaments, these came with the flutes and they are just too cute!! I think they will look really nice on the cake table!!

3 - Information Folder - So i'm putting together a folder of information for the guests. not so much VR info as it is mostly cruiseing info. I got each guest a DCL brochure and CD, and i have a copy of the reservation from DU inside along with passport info. I'm going to add some stuff about rotation dining, ideas of what to do in Nassua, and just general DCL info. My family are cruising veterans, but BFF, and my sister's new family have never cruised before. Plus my family has never been on DCL so things are a bit different.

You need to get one of these sticker machines!!! It's AWESOME!!! You'll have such a great time with it!!

I'm a lurker here on this board. I'm enjoying everyones pjs and wish I could start one. We'll be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next year at WDW but there is no extra $$$$ for an escape vr. The DH is in construction and we all know how well that is doing at the moment. On top of having a son in college (Ball State). Oh well. I'm really enjoying everyone elses and I want to thank everyone for all of their updates. You can't imagine how much time I spend here. I think its my new addiction. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I love all of your choices and the xyron machine just put a smile on my face. Got to love that handy little machine and HOBBY LOBBY. Hope you were able to purchase it at 1/2! Got to love their sale ads each week. I'm also located in Indiana! Just want to put in my 2 cents and say hi. Much happiness!

Lynn

Hi Lynn!!! Welcome! Where's Lowell, IN?? Boo Ball State! Your DS should have gone to Purdue!! Then he could make lots of money and pay for your VR!! ;) And remember, the VR on DCL is only $1500! Much cheaper than Escape package. Oh yeah, love Hobby Lobby and their ads!!

I wish for the tons of $$$ and paying for our vr. Maybe some day. If I live long enough and all of his dreams come true. His dream is to be on the radio and announcing for the Chicago Cubs. Everyone has to dream I guess. Lowell is 30 minutes south of Merrillville or 10 minutes west of the 1-65 & Rt. 2 exit. Or 1 hour north of Purdue. :) I'd much rather drive to Lafayette than the 3 hours to Muncie. Boring!!!!! By the way, I love both of your cake options but I think I love the 2nd one better. And also, I like the flutes w/o the ribbon but again that's just my opinion. Maybe I'd better stop with the opinions. :rotfl2: I'd hate to sway someone the wrong way. So enjoying reading your pj. Thanks for the welcome.

Lynn

I have to agree, I like the flutes without the ribbon. I think it looks a bit cluttered with the ribbon. Those stickers you made look great. Did you print them out on that size paper??? It looks like fun!

I just printed the stickers on regular paper, cut them to size, then stuck them thru the sticker maker.

Jennifer -- I think the flutes are perfect without the ribbon & hearts. You did an awesome job on the stickers. What a cool machine. A friend of mine brought hers to our girls' weekend at WDW and we had so much fun making all sorts of stickers. I can't wait to see what you come up with when you have the embroidery machine.

yeah, i kind of figured it wouldn't be an option, but i'm going to ask and beg and plead and make a general nuisance of myself until she caves! :rotfl:

I'm trying to decide between these 2

Sandy's. (lov2b@Disney)
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg267/sjrke/100_3716.jpg

and I like Toni's too, but just a 2 layer. (DisneyBrideToni)

I happen to LOVE that first one!

I'm going to have to agree with Lisa on this one. You don't necessarily want them to "cave" because here's the problem: the people doing the cakes on the ship are pastry chefs, not cake decorators. That's why I suspect there aren't that many options in the first place. So even if they "cave" it may not look that great because there's a specific construction and skill needed w/a topsy turvy cake like you want (I do cake decorating - I'm not just speculating here). Not that pastry chefs don't have skill - heck, I cannot do what they do! I'm just trying to provide a reason why they may tell you they cannot do it. But it's worth trying! And hey, if they do "cave" and do it for you I can't wait to see it!! :rotfl:

Jen the flutes are fantastic! :lovestruc Don't use the ribbon and charm they are perfect without them! I am so jealous!

The stickers turned out great!! I am thinking I might have to get me one but I am just not sure how much I will use it...well actually since I started scrapbooking maybe I will use it a ton! I would save big $ on buying them. Hmmmm....

The info pack looks great! I love the picture on the bottom! I think its similar to the one Val used on her welcome bag..:confused3

We used our Xyron to add sticky to a bunch of things that we used on our welcome folders too, although I completely forgot about making our own stickers for other things.

It was funny to read the talk about Indiana and where people live down there. I lived in Lafayette for a while when I was younger and we go down there all the time to visit family that live there and in Indy.

Ok, so i've been doing thinking on the cake. I am determined to get that DESIGN on the cake, but can compromise on some other things. 1st, DH isn't a big fan of the Topsy Turvy design. He thinks the cakes look weird. :lmao: So we can compromise and just use regular size round cakes. Easier and more stable for an moving ship. ;) And lookijng at some past DCL cakes, it looks like most of them are covered in fondant anyway, atleast Cheryl's was. And she had a kickass bow too!! :thumbsup2 So the pastry chef has to have some fondant experience, or he'd never be able to cover the cakes and make the bow, dots and border. So it should be no problem having them make diamonds and hearts instead of dots and bows. We can even forgo covering the cake with fondant and just ice it in Buttercream and just use fondant decorations. If they can carve a racoon out of watermelon rind, they should be able to make a fondant diamond shape! :confused3 The pasty chef's should have a 6-8 month contract like other cruise employee's so once we get closer to the date, a lot closer ;) , i'll ask Kathy to see if I can speak with the Pastry Chef and we can determine what they will be able to do.

See, i'm flexible! ;)

I don't know if they'll do those diamonds. They're not as easy as they look. I just don't want you to get into a fight with Cathy about it or have your heart set on it. I would be SHOCKED if they agreed to do fondant diamonds like the second cake you pictured. I think one of the things that us DCL brides need to accept is that one of the negatives of getting married on the cruise is that we cannot have the cake we want.

Trust me, I understand. The cake is very important to me too! VERY! I suppose I just toned down it's importance when df and I chose to go with a DCL wedding because I know from photos that the cakes are not incredible.

And Ta-DA!! Our first completed project!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/SE-270D006.jpg

:rotfl: It took a LONG time to get that far!! We had all kind of thread problems with the bobbin, and we couldn't get the colors right. Nothing is red/blue/black/yellow anymore. :headache: I need to check and see if Brother makes Disney Color thread. That would help alot!

We have ordered a card writer/reader that will let us adapt other designs and stuff. I have a Lady and the Tramp CD that I can't wait to make something with! Then i'm going to use that and add our names and date to a hanky for the VR! Can't wait to get that reader!!

Here's what we did yesterday!
