Oh don't get me started Cam!! Those tags you made are too cute and now I want one of those machines!! But i'm not a scrapbooker so i know it would be a big dust collector after the VR, so i'm not going to indulge myself. but all your cute stuff makes it hard not to!!:rotfl:

So last week a wonderful DIS Bride :lovestruc sends me a PM that she found the Lady and the Tramp statue i wanted, and it was on clearance because Lenox was discontineing them! It was only $29.95 plus shipping and tax!! OMG! It's normally $125! Obviously i snatched it up!!
http://www.giftcollector.com/ProductImages/65000/65752.sm.jpg
Now, originally my plan was to use it as a cake topper. Well, I got the figureine last night, and it's a LOT bigger than I expected!! It's about 8" long by 6" wide!! It certainly doesn't look that big in the picture. So i guess it's not going to be a cake topper. But i bet it would look super cute on the cake table, right next to the 2 little Lady and Tramp ornaments that came with the champagne flutes!! So i think my cake table is pretty much decorated now! I just need to determine what the cake will look like!! :rotfl:
I also got some Happily Ever After ribbon off Ebay this week. I'm going to work on the programs and invitations again, hopefully find a way to use that new L&tT Ring design i got. :thumbsup2
And lastly, i'm working on a christmas gift for my guests. I'm making a calender for next year, to countdown the months until the trip. And each month is going to have a different DISign i found on the creative design board! There are so many cute designs, i wanted to find a way to share them with everyone! And since i knew most of them wouldn't want to wear matching shirts, i thought the calender would be a cute idea!

Jennifer, it's adorable! And I never would have guessed it'd be that big. I've had a couple of those "surprises" while planning. They're definitely interesting!

;) Yes, it is a large piece but I think it would look great on the cake table (think of Vanessa's cake table). That is a great price.
We got ours also and it is proudly displayed in our dinning room.
Best wishes,

Is it the standard picture of the piece or is it a picture you took? All I see is a red X and I usually don't have any problems seeing photos.

Yeah, i'm just trying to figure out how to do it now. :confused3 I was just going to print the designs out on card stock and make the calender that way, but i got to thinking how would i attach the pages together (design attached to last months calender) and if the card stock would be heavy enought to stay upright without the corners folding in. So then i thought about just uploading the images to Snapfish/Shutterfly or something like that and having them make the calender, but i need about 8 of them and they are $20 each. So that idea was nixed pretty quickly. :lmao: I know that Oriental Trading Company sells calender making kits, but i think the borders may not be what i want. So now i'm kind of at a standstill.....

Hi! I love your Planning Journal! For someone that professes not to be crafty, you have made some beautiful items for your VR! I especially love the Micky flip flops, and you do an awesome job with your embroidry machine! I'd be like when Malcom in the Middle and his mom got sick, and spent all their time be-dazzeling everything they could get their hands on...I'd be putting Micky & Mickey on everything! :lmao:
Can't wait to see how your wedding comes all together!

Ok, I have to add my AW SWEET DH story! :flower3:
Joe has had absolutely NO INTEREST in the VR at all. Other than to make perfectly clear he does not want another wedding, all he pretty much does is just roll his eyes when I buy something or talk about it. So last night i was telling him about what Patty said, about how her and Dh's relationship is just so much better after the VR, it's like being newlywed's again. I told him i couldn't wait for that feeling. :flower3: So then later that night we're laying in bed, and he says that he was thinking about something, but had decided he couldnt' do it without crying. He said he wanted to write something and read it to me during the VR. :lovestruc He was actually getting choked up just talking about it. I was so touched. Seriously, you have no idea what he's like. He's so not the romantic type guy, or even the type to show his feelings much. So this was totally unexpected and I was completely blown away, and very touched. He really does have his moments.

more dilemas:
so I tried to do the Stapels calender, and unfortunately the designs are too small. only 51 DPI, and they recommend 200. :lmao: So i need to try and rework that a bit. That's gonna take a whole saturday or something.
Now for the bags. I bought the embroidery machine because since our group is so small, i decided to splurge and i was going to get canvas bags and embroider Lady and the Tramp on them, and put "Joe and Jennifer, 10 years of Happily Ever After" on them. And hobby lobby had some bags on sale last week so I got one to practice on. Now, i'm just going to embroider the outside pocket. I realized that i would have to unsew the pocket from the bag, embroider it, then resew the pocket on. Now, i can't even sew a button on. So this is definateyl something i will need lots of help on. So i'm explaining all this to DH and he's like "We're going to have to completely take the bag apart." I can take the pocket off, but inorder to resew it back on, and not sew the bag shut, we'll have to take the side seams off, sew the pocket back on, and then resew the sides of the bag. :scared1: Oh man! that's a lot of work!!
So then i said i would just get a swatch of material, and we'd just sew that onto a bag. Yup, same problem. The bag is too big, and my machine is too small, we can't just embroider the bag without completely taking it apart.
So now i'm faced with the prospect of just having to order the bags already embroidered. Kind of defeats the purpose of the machine. Yeah, i'm still getting use out of it, but it's just not the same.
So now i don't know what to do! I have all these great ideas, but can't execute them! :rotfl:

How about doing the design on a piece of cloth then using fusible backing and ironing it on the bag? could that work? good luck:goodvibes

 Huh?? :rotfl:
do you mean like an iron on tranfer? What's fusible backing? Would i still be able to embroider it?
padisneyfour
09-24-2008, 08:39 AM
you could embroid. the design on cloth iron on the backing and then iron it onto the bag.... when I made costumes for my DDs school show that had lots of little pieces we ironed it on the piece to be attached and then ironed it to the costume...

Ok, so it felt like i did lots of work this weekend, but I guess not as much as I thought!
1 - finally finished the ribbon around my shoes! I had to buy a glue gun (which I bought back in May) to add the ribbon aroudn the base of the shoes. got the ribbon around and started adding more mickey heads on it. That is an extremely boring/stressful/annoying task, so i'm doing it in pieces. I've got about the front 1/4 done so far.
2 - finalized the design for the bag! I can add the Lady and the Tramp design with my machine, then depending on if we can upload her design to my machine, i may have MIL do the phrase. The coloring will be more pink than red.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/BagEmbroideryDesign.jpg
3 - made 2 more prototypes for invitations. I still have no idea which one i like.
original option:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/001.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/002.jpg
2nd choice: Lady and Tramp rings
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/vr022.jpg
3rd choice: heart again
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/vr023.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/vr024.jpg
the ones I made today were printed on a cream cardstock with this weird shiny finish to it. Almost foamy like?? The velum is pale pink.
4 - Lady Embroidery design - she was much bigger than we expected, but are really happy with how it came out. I think we are ready to move on to actual clothes soon.
5 - Lady and Tramp Cake table decoration. Originally for the cake topper, but it's just way too big. I added the tide pen to show how big it is.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/vr018.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/vr019.jpg
6 - Finally, I spent a lot of time today working on the calenders. Now matter how many times i edited the picture on my comptuer, when i uploaded it to a photo site, it always came out low resolution. I was getting so pissed off! So i finally decided to just see what it would look like prining it out myself! So i grabbed some left over cream cardstock (not the foamy shiny kind) and printed a few images. I like it!! They look really good, and I think the paper really is strong enought to hang and not fold in on the sides. So now i think i am back to my original decision to print them myself! I just need to get lots of cardstock!

True, that cake would be big enought, but still think it's just too heavy for the cake. Unless they have some serious supports in it, it would just sink.

Hi Jen, I was just thinking of your cake topper delimna. What if you had a bottom cake, decorated to your liking, and then had support columns going up, and a base cut out to the shape of your cake topper, with the topper on it? I'm not explaining it very well! it'd be like your cake-topper is the top layer, only not on cake....but sitting on a form that is cut to the shape of the topper, so the form dosen't show, just the topper. Make sense? :confused3
Funny, it looks perfect in my mind!! :lmao:

Yes Kel! That does make sense!! That's an option well have to see if DCL can do!! Good idea!!
Here is attempt #1 at the bag design! Came out ok! We need to re-sew the bag back together to see how it holds up. not sure how the canvas will take being re-sewn. And i think we'll make the pink a bit darker on the lettering.

So BFF came over for dinner last night, and innocently asked what day we were leaving on. Dh just groaned. So we all sat down, dh rather begrudglingly, and hammered out our plan. So here it is:
Friday 12/04 - BFF and I will not work. finish packing up and get ready to go!! Dh will work, and we'll leave about 8pm and hope and pray the kids sleep all night long!!
Saturday 12/05 - It should take about 22 hrs to get to Orlando. So depending on traffic and stops, figure we'll make it to WDW about 10pm. Our plan is to stay someplace CHEAP saturday night, just outside of the world. no reason to pay Saturday night rates at WDW just for a bed :scared1: .
Sunday 12/06 - :cheer2: CHECK IN at ??? (hopefully BWV) and latest breakfast seating at 1900 Park Fare for breakfast with Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland!! I'm very much looking forward to this meal!! We've only ever saw MP at Akershus and it was ruined by an annoying older gentleman next to us wondering when she was elevated to Princess status. :headache: After breakfast we'll head over to DTD for shopping!! Dinner at the new T-rex club! Even Dh is excited for that one!! :thumbsup2
Monday 12/7 - Epcot Day!! Finally we will get a full day in Epcot!! this will be dh's 4th trip to Disney, and i still don't think we've ever been more than quick 1/2 day of Epcot! There is so much that i want to do that we've never done, like TEST TRACK, SPACESHIP EARTH, INNOVATIONS, JOURNEY INTO IMAGINAION, SOARIN. And i so want to spend a lot of time walking around WS and doing Kidcot stations with Masks and Passports for the kids!! And i want to try pastries in each country. :roflmao: Dinner at Coral Reef, hopefully with a Diver. The kids will so love that!!
Tuesday 12/8 - Morning at DHS. We aren't into Star Wars, or Indiana Jones, or the stunt shows. So we can easily do DHS in 1/2 a day, like we did this trip. We really just want to see characters and RnRC, ToT, and new TSM. Maybe B&B stage and VoLM. And of course, whatever Playhouse Disney is doing at the time. for lunch, we going to Sci-Fi Drive In. I know the food hasn't gotten the best reviews, but i think the atmosphere is really neat-o  and dh and the kids will get a kick out of it. :woohoo: After lunch, back to the resort for a nap because tonight is MVMCP! I mentioned to dh and bff last night that maybe we should get a sitter and do an adult night. neither of them sounded to interested. whatever, the kids did fine when we did P&PP, so i'm sure it'll be fine.
Wednesday 12/9 - we can sleep in after MVMCP and head to MK when we wake up!! We have a full day scheduled here! trying to decided if/when Jackie can do BBB again. Mickey's Philharmagic is a must see this time, as we've never seen it yet. I'd also like to see more shows. We've never seen any of the shows they do on the castle stage, or the Trolley Main Street Parade, or any of the shows in Frontienland. And we've not taken the kids to Tom Sawyer island either. Gosh, that's lots to do!! And we'll be dining A La Lady and the Tramp, with Dinner at Tony's!!! Of Course!!!
Thursday - 12/10 - TIME TO SAIL!!!!! WOO HOOO!! Transfer to DCL!
Gee, do you think 14 months is a bit too early to have this much planned?? :rolfmao:

10-21-2008, 03:04 PM
No way, Jennifer! I tend to plan as soon as I've got the trip booked! You gotta prepare for the ADRs, after all! That can take time!! :D
29apr00
10-21-2008, 03:31 PM
that is true!! Takes time to figure those ADR's out. And it looks like we will have atleast 1 TS to pay OOP for, so we need to figure out which one will be the cheapest! :lmao: that means lots of menu's to poor over, time and time again,
Thinking maybe WCC or Kona for breakfast the last day. I really want to try Tonga Toast, but wonder about the atmosphere at WCC being better for the kids?..... Hmmm...decisions decisions

Well i believe i have finally made a resort decision.
With all the discounts and great deals going around now, I just couldn't pass up the chance to save lots of money. So we are making a reservation at Ft Wilderness Cabins. Joe is very excited as he has always wanted to stay there since we went to Hoop De Doo Revue! And the kids will love the petting zoo and pony rides. And they have carriage rides in the winter! And the campfire sing along with smores!! :yay: The cabin is definately big enought too! And right now, with no special deals, it's the exact same price as renting with DVC.
So hopefully in the next 6-8 months, we'll either get a 40% PIN code, of Free Dining, or how awesome if they extend the buy 4 get 3 free PROMO!! That would mean a whole week at Disney before the cruise!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I'm so excited to finally have a set plan!! WOO HOO!! Next up....Contacting with DFTW!!!! :woohoo:

I GOT IT!!! I got my Contract from DFTW!!! I'm so excited!! I just quickly scanned it as it's 16 pages and Dh is still upgrading the computer at home so i can't really open it and print it. So i have to wait until tomorrow to look at it closely.
But I have it!! And i did real quickly ask Cathy about the cake. :lmao:

I asked her if it was possible to upgrade the style, from the plain "bubble" looking one to the Mad Hatter. I didn't really expect an answer now, as the pastry chef on board NOW isn't the one who will be there next year. I just want to know now if it's even an option to change. We'll work on what we actually want closer to the date. :thumbsup2

Okay, I should not have clicked the link. I just read your entire planning journal...in one sitting! :thumbsup2
I love your dress! You look so beautiful in it! It works perfectly for you.
And now I have a bone to pick with you...you just put the idea of a DCL vow renewal into my head. I always feel so relaxed on the cruise...maybe I want to do our vow renewal on the cruise and then just have a anniversary party (don't want to get into the restrictions that go along with a land vow renewal if I am not doing the ceremony there) once we are back on land. Hmmm...remember, it is ALL your fault that I am now confused! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: But seriously, how much fun is planning a DCL renewal?
I love your Lady and the Tramp figure, it's beautiful. And your invites. Those are stunning (all forms of the invite).
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and let you know I will hold you responsible when my dh rolls his eyes over the fact that I am now considering something totally different than the one I have already begged for. :rotfl:
I am looking forward to following along with you as you plan out the rest of your special day!

Lots to do but you seem to have it all covered. Just as an FYI - as far as the chapstick goes. I contacted an Avon rep in my area and asked her about the Avon Disney Chapstick. I told her I needed 30 and she sold them to me for 1/2 price. I thought this was a great savings and it brought some more Disney into our goody bags.

k, so this is the original bracelet Joe gave me on our wedding day.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/Bracelet.jpg
After 8 years it broke and we fixed it and it broke and we fixed it and it broke...so on and so on. We finally decided that fixing it wasn't working anymore. So we decided to remount the stones into an anniversary ring....and here it is!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/ring003.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/ring004.jpg
It's much bigger than i expected it to be. so i won't be wearing it behind my wedding ring which was my original plan. I'll end up havig to resize it for my middle finger, so it's next to my ring. :guilty: good enought i guess.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/ring005.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/ring006.jpg
I also had a pendant made! Joe said he would buy me a nice new chain for christmas so i can wear it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/ring002.jpg
There are still 4 stones left which he is making into a pendant for Jackie. It'll just be a straight line, not the Journey setting like mine.
I LOVE IT ALL!!!!

Agreed - It would have been in the bottom of a drawer only pulled out once a year while cleaning or something. I would have considered fixing it, but it would never happen and would be in the bottom of the drawer again.

This weekend MIL and I went to Joann's Fabrics because they had a 30% off sale on bridal fabric. 1st we had to select a new pattern because she didn't think she would be able to do the original one.

so as i'm laying here listening to dh snore....again....i'm thinking about how i really want things to play out. This is to be the wedding i always wanted...not the one our parents wanted. And i really want to do this up right...and really nice!!
So i've decided to change things around a bit. I've asked Cathy about getting the Palo room for dinner the night of the VR. We'll send the kids off to the clubs and us 10 adults will have dinner in Palo. we can have a nice relaxing meal with good wine and leftover wedding cake to celebrate not only our Vow Renewal....but the actual family trip.
yeah...plus this dinner allows me to do more weddingy type stuff i didnt' get to do the 1st time like table decorations and place cards and fun stuff like that. I figure if I don't get what i want....then heaven help Jackie when she get's married. :rotfl:
I also think i'm going to look into Cards and Pockets as the invites. I like what i did as a trial run, but i want something a bit more sophesticaed and classy. I think the pocket folder is very nice...and i'm seeing a bright pink folder with pale pink stuff inside. Not sure what the stuff inside is...paper wise i mean. I want the invite on the inside...then a schedule of the day on the flap.
i just hope i can get a small amount. i only need 10.

Maybe you should see if there is a meet thread on the cruise boards. That is how I met both my bridesmaids in 2005!! In fact, everyone who was at my VR except Mom and DH I met of the Dis in 2005 for our Halloween Magic cruise
jennifaerie

Jennifer, the cruise meet threads are really helpful.
I'm on two right now, and one group is setting up meets on the boat and fish extender groups. On the other, I ended up meeting someone who was on the cruise I took last year. It was a first cruise for both of us, and we ended up having a lot in common but never met on THAT cruise. Now I'm going to meet her on the upcoming one, and I never would have known if it weren't for the thread!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/008.jpg
and here is the fuscia. i originally ordered the silver to go with the fuscia, but i think it looks really good with the bubble gum. i'll not use the cream one that came with bubble gum.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/009.jpg
we really like the fuscia, it's very bright and pretty (looks red now, but it's really a very pretty pink), but it's just too bright for the look we want. (YES! Dh did have an opinion on this! :faint: ) The bubble gum is just a beautiful pale pink and goes well with the pink sash on mine and Jackie's dresses.
now i just have to figure out how to put them all together. the little inserts that go on the side....it's ok to stick those in the printer and they won't jam??? And i still have to see if i can still print the Lady and the Tramp image on the cardstock, and still have the velum overlay. so much to do and i won't be able to do any of it until this weekend!!!

I haven't done a mock up yet. I have a template of what we want to say but haven't done an actually one yet. Don't worry I will let you know as soon as I have it posted! :)
Jen I love the first pair of shoes! They are perfect and will match the pink ribbon in your dress beautifully!

The bubblegum pockets looked great, I think that will be a really nice combination. I also love the shirts- I saw the shoe fits one online, but they never had my size and the Cinderella one is really cute too. It doesn't look like it would be too hard to change the sash on Minnie, but I don't sew either, so I'm probably not the best person to ask.
So, I have to ask where in Indiana is this DS outlet? I have family in Warsaw, Lafayette, and Indianapolis so I visit those areas a lot. Plus, we drive through Fort Wayne on our way south and I go to a Wizard of Oz festival near Chesterton every September. Just wanting to know if it is near any of those places. Thanks :goodvibes

Hey! I'm reading back through your planning journal now. I'm going backwards so I will start with the shoes. I think maybe the flats since it's in a tropical setting and you are taller. (I rarely wear heels since I'm taller than my DH. Only by half an inch though.) I love the decoration on the flat shoe too.
Hey....if you need a Photographer I'll do it free of charge...just hide me somewhere in someone's state room. :rotfl2: I would LOVE to go on a Disney cruise.
Good idea making the bracelet into a ring! It's pretty. I love the color. And the pendant ~ COOL!
The pattern is nice too. That is the one she is making for DD? I love it. Did you now Gymboree has little girl sashes on sale right now? They have a few different colors.
Are you still planning on the cabins? We stayed there in 2006 and I liked it a lot. There's a lot to do at Ft Wilderness. In addition to everything you said we also rented a canoe. We also went to the marina and rented a pontoon boat one day and cruised around Bay Lake. That was a lot of fun. They have a lot of activities everyday too in addition to the camp fire. I feel sure some sort of code will come out before you leave. Oh...and if you want to rent a golf cart for your stay do it early. They sell out quickly.
On the invites I like the heart ones w/ L & the T. They're gorgeous.
This is going to be a nice wedding...I can tell already! :thumbsup2

So i did order both pairs of shoes. :lmao: More votes for #1....but i still like #2 better. IDK...we'lll see how the white satin looks next to my ivory dress.
reminds me...i should try that on again...see how the past 8 months have taken their toll on my body. :faint:
Let's see....what else??? I did order 2 small gold Lady and Tramp charms for my garter. I'm going to send them out and have them added to a garter. And my cards and pockets came in already!! Wow they send orders out faster than they do samples. :lmao: I worked on them a bit this weekend but didn't get to far. I need to get the large square hole punch so i can cut squares....and still figure out what i want to say. I have plenty of time since we don't plan on mailing the invites, rather have them hand delievered on the ship. Everyone has already booked, we know they are coming, seems kind of pointless to send the invite so early and to their house when i know they will forget all the important aspects of the cruise.

If you are serious we will work something out. If I were to come Sidney would come too to help me and we'd probably have to bring the baby (since it will be more than a few days). He's a wild child and I can't trust him with anyone. He will run out of the house in a heartbeat. He don't care. You should see my locks. It's like a high security prison (or NYC) around here. :rotfl2: But a year from now he may be "normal". You never know. I'd be able to photograph everything....from your trip at WDW, everything you guys do on the ship, Island, and the wedding itself. You'd end up with 1000's of pictures! (And they would be yours...everything would be on a high quality disc) which means you could take your time with the prints and get whatever you need whenever you need it. I offer packages on my website as well if you're more into that but if you're like me you'd want them all. I feel like a lot of people hold your pictures prisoner so they can suck someone out of every penny. I don't work like that. I have many options where people can just get the disc if they want. I can email you the info if you'd like. You know I'd do you good! :thumbsup2

Ok so i got both pairs of shoes and tried them on with the dress (which still fits btw!) Realized that the dress itself is white, not bridal white, but maybe an antique white, and it's just the lace overlay that is ivory.
so the ivory shoe

The first one looks best on with the dress...
I'm just curious. How much do these people (on the cruise ship) charge to Photograph your wedding? My packages start at $999 and they come with a good bit of stuff. I'm wondering what their hourly rate is. As much as I love Disney I might seriously look into doing this for people. I might take the goods down with me in March and do some pro shots. I'm nervous about bringing anything worth $ down there after those people stole my underwear! :sad2: I have a some samples from the beach in my TR.

I agree, and you really can tell the white vs ivory with the 2nd shoe. (and it's a VERY slippery little shoe. i about fell on my *** in the bathroom! :rotfl: )
Tammy - they have a couple different packages based on the number of pictures you want to buy. the cheapest for the VR is $175 and inclue 20 5x7, 5 8x10, and 1 hr photography. if you want a CD, you HAVE to buy a package plus $450 for the CD, and there is some debate as to whether you get ALL the pics on the CD or just the ones you buy. the most expensive one is $1000 and still only includes an hr of photography, but it does include the CD, an 8x10 album, a 5x7 album, 30 5x7, 30 8x10 and 25 "announcements". We're going to go with the smallest package probably, and hopefully get the CD if we can get all the images.

$1000 is not bad for all of that, if they do a good job. If they're like those PP peeps in the park then I say NO WAY! Skip them. :lmao: Have you seen samples? I'm still working up a budget to show to the hubby (hehehe) so I guess I'll go ahead and budget for the bigger package, but start out with the smaller one and upgrade if the pictures are okay. My main concern is the CD. I really don't care if I get the other pictures or not as long as I can get a CD. I wish they just had a package that was JUST the CD and a couple of hours of photography. I think that would make a lot of bride's lives easier.

:rotfl: that is a highly controversial subject!
i've been told the SHAPE of the mad hatter is a definate NO, but the design with colors and hearts and mickey heads MAYBE an option, but it can't be decided until closer to sailing when your pasty chef is available. As for the other two, i figured if the mad hatter is a no-go, than those two are the easiest designs i found, so hopefully those may be an option. :confused3 it's all still very up in the air.

I keep hoping that I can at least get some hidden mickey heads, but everytime I've asked, I get a flat out no! :sad1: I was told that I can only choose one of the two options. How hard could it be to put mickey heads on a cake?
I also don't even know what date my actual VR is on. I've email Cathy a couple of times and have gotten no response. Should I email her again? I know she's a busy lady and all, but I want to know my date! LOL!!

Well my thing is that I HATE icing flowers and all the piping on the edges of the cakes!
I would seriously be happy if they just iced it all one color, not white, and maybe put some ribbon on it or something. Though I would prefer some kind of design. Heck let me and my mom go decorate it, we'll bring our own supplies!
Is it bad that I haven't spoken to Cathy since I booked the wedding? Am I supposed to put in these requests for things before I return the packet she e-mailed me?
She did tell me that the wedding would be on Thursday, one of our sea days.

Cathy really has very little to do with any of us DCL brides until about 3 months before the sailing. I hate that, but i guess that's the way it's done for DCL. Completely different from DFTW on land. Whatever. :headache:
I would take notes of everything you want, includeing the basic easy cake design, and add it to your planning kit. Hopefully as you get closer to the sailing date and are actually in contact with Cathy, you'll get better answers. Seems lately i've seen a lot of us DCL brides that are pretty unhappy with the cake situation. It's a shame really. :sad2:

Cathy really has very little to do with any of us DCL brides until about 3 months before the sailing. I hate that, but i guess that's the way it's done for DCL. Completely different from DFTW on land. Whatever. :headache:
I would take notes of everything you want, includeing the basic easy cake design, and add it to your planning kit. Hopefully as you get closer to the sailing date and are actually in contact with Cathy, you'll get better answers. Seems lately i've seen a lot of us DCL brides that are pretty unhappy with the cake situation. It's a shame really. :sad2:
Alright I'm going to load up my cake file with pics. By the time I get around to submitting my packet to Cathy it's going to have so much stuff I'm going to have to send it through the Disney file sharing site :rotfl:

:rotfl: that is a highly controversial subject!
i've been told the SHAPE of the mad hatter is a definate NO, but the design with colors and hearts and mickey heads MAYBE an option, but it can't be decided until closer to sailing when your pasty chef is available. As for the other two, i figured if the mad hatter is a no-go, than those two are the easiest designs i found, so hopefully those may be an option. :confused3 it's all still very up in the air.
Throwing some pixie dust your way...the design and colors seem pretty simple. How hard would it be to cut out fondont circles? That Mad Hatter cake is my favorite too!
BTW...love the ears!

I just read all 30 pages of your PJ :surfweb: All of your plans look so exciting! I abs love your invites and the save the dates. I wish I were talented enough to do something like that. I think its so great that your group is just the right size for the little Palo room. I am sooo fearful that they aren't going to be able to do a reception for us and we are going to have to move to WDW.
We went through the same sort of thing with the cake - because we don't really like the typical cake. I am hoping they can just go a plain butter cream cake and that we can take one of the white chocolate castle cake toppers and cover it in brown sugar for a sand castle cake.
I am very curious about all of the little details and extras - can't wait to read about them.

Aw thanks!! I seriously am not creative at all, i just found the great ideas from the other brides here!
:headache: the cake issue!! Every time i think about it it just drives me nuts!! This is supposed to be a relaxing happy event since the 1st one was so stressful....yet that dang cake is going to drive me over the edge!! They were able to give Escape brides an option, seriously, I know the pasty chefs onboard are not THAT inexperienced when it comes to decorating! They carve animals out of watermelon rindes! They should be able to cut out fondant circles! :headache:
Anyway, good luck with your issues too!

So let's see.....um.....nothing really to report! :rotfl:
I put a huge payment on the cruise last week so i won't be buying any more stuff for a while! :rotfl: We did get a shirt for DH to wear but we are working on pants for him now, and need to find a matching outfit for DS to wear too! MIL finally finished the demo bag, and we have now moved onto another type of bag, like the over the shoulder duffle bag type. she thinks that may be easier to do so we'll see about that.
Otherwise....we are just in limbo until i save up more money! :rotfl:

Since I assume its going to be a relatively small cake, could you have it made at WDW first and then just transported and stored on the boat? I watch Ace of Cakes and other cake shows quite a bit. To me it sounded like the fondant keeps all of the moisture in the cake. If it were refrigerated properly I would think it would last 3 days.. I think a lot of times for really really fancy cakes it takes 3 days to make and decorate them.
My theory is that if DCL is willing to store your flowers for you for 3 days they would probably be willing to store a cake too - especially if it met that they didn't have to make it! :rotfl:

03-28-2009, 09:49 PM
ok, i have quite a few updates to make!!
i'm wondering about my shoes again. I have 2 pairs right now.
1- my Mickey Flip Flops that i'm planing on wearing from the ship to the beach. I'll go barefoot once we hit the sand.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/DSC02539-Copy.jpg
2- my "formal" bridal sandals that i'm planning on wearing in Palo for dinner and around the ship at night.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/002-2.jpg
Now i'm thinking i want something "flashy"-ier. :lol2: I keep seeing everyones killer pink heals and I know as tall as I am, i still look awesome in heals. I SO WANT A PAIR!! I never get to wear heals anymore, i wear blue jeans to work on a daily basis.
So now i'm thinking about wearing my mickey flip flops just around the cabin and ship, wearing my Bridal Sandals down to the beach, but getting a pair of Pink ones for the evening. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to rock out a pair of killer heals like that! Indiana girls just don't normally wear PINK SHOES!! :scared1: I have to look at my bridal shoes again, because i can't remember if there is a strap on them. I'd hate to have to bend over and undo my strap after getting off the trolley before i walk on the sand. :scared:
what do you think of these?
http://www.shoemall.com/assets/product_images/styles/medium/149581PNK1R.jpg
and of course i'm totally in love with these $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ones!:rolleyes1
http://www42.babidou.com/pic/2008/12/4/pan999/CL%20new/_MG_8456.jpg
and not for the VR...but these are adorable too! I'm definately getting these ones!!!
http://auctionboutique.com/usersdirs/14995/cd-s-whstw-stp-c17-900-2.jpg
these are my bridal sandals.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/007-1.jpg
The shoes do have straps. So if i were to wear them off the ship down to the beach....i'd have to bend over and unstrap them before walking in the sand. I just don't see me bending over in my dress to try and remove the shoes. :rotfl: so i guess now i'm back to the mickey flip flops down to the beach, and those shoes in the evening.

FINALLY!! The Sand Ceremony Kit has arrived!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/004-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/005-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/006-1.jpg
I'm very happy with it! The vases look good, and the main vase is plenty big enought, the etching looks nice and it has a lid! Very important to have a lid! And a good price too! Only $25 for the 1 big vase and 2 pouring vased. not bad at all!
Now...this was my trial color run....it has everyone's birthstone color in it. Joe is Emerald for May, Jackie is lime green Peridot for August, i'm Sapphire Blue for September, and Joey is Amythest for Feb.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/DSC02527.jpg
Using everyone's birthstone color was a really cool idea, and it does look good....but it's just so bright!! And my color scheme is not bright at all! :lol2: It's a rather pale pink and ivory. So as much as i like the way it looks....i think i'm going to go for different colors. Trying to figure out if I want to do Pinks and Whites/Ivorys or Pinks and Blues.
Ok, now for the bag. we redid the bag, now with an over the shoulder type duffle bag. I think it came out really nice!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/002-Copy.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v286/jbutler42900/Wedding/003-1.jpg
So that's it! Finally! We are going to make the pink writing just a tiny bit darker, using the same color as inside Tramp's Ears.

That's too bad you can't get the super cute pink shoes; I would have been totally jealous. I have wider feet, so I never fit in any of the really cute shoes.
The sand ceremony set is really nice. I agree the lid was a must-have for me too. I didn't even think of birthstone colors; that is very creative. Although, I'm in August too and I'm not a fan of peridot.
I agree with the bag; the embroidery turned out really cute and the darker pink will make it perfect!

Just a few updates......
DFTW Coordinator for DCL was an unfortunate victim of the layoff's last week, so i now have a new planner/coordinator. Seems that even Disney isn't immune to the recession. And i have to say that they way they handled this "change" was really crappy! Having to find out from a message board about your coordinator being laid off and getting a new one was quite a kick in the gut! :headache:
Anywhoooo.....:rolleyes1
The flower girl basket i originally order has been discountinued so now i'm back to square one with that. still trying to find something that is basic and plain....nothing to fru-fru for a change. :rotfl:

Still waiting on an email back from Beaute Speciale. And i spent most of the day looking for a bouquetl I know what i'm going to get from DFTW, the Tropical one, with HOPEFULLY very little green stuff, and pink roses. It's not really what i'm looking for, but i know what i DO want they would charge $$$$$ for. So i think i'm going to go a completely different route for the shoot, but i'm not sure what i'm looking for yet! :rotfl:
Found a flower girl basket finally!! Hobby Lobby has their bridal section 50% off this week and i found a pretty cute plain ivory one. Got some tiny little pink roses that i'm going to put on plus some thin pink ribbon for her. Should be very cute. I showed it to Jackie and she was so excited! Which is funny because she really doesn't quite get the concept of the VR. But Joey went nutso! Crying over his basket. Umm...you don't get a basket dude! Well Dh says i have to do something now that he saw Jackie's basket. So now i guess it's off to find a pillow when i really didn't want one. oh well, what's a little bit more stuff to haul down.:sad2:

Love the basket, shoes, flowers ~ everything you picked for this! :lovestruc I was wondering...does Disney make you use their cameras or can you book a shoot in WS and bring your own photographer. If they will how much would it be? I'd just like to do one of my kids out there! I don't want the photopass people though. If they'd use the high setting it'd be okay but the lowest sucks when it comes to making an enlargement.

Outside photographers are not allowed in the parks at all. and the Bridal Shoots with Disney Photographic Services are not at all like the PP people. They guys use the high end cameras and you can get big professional wall portraits from the shoot.

Did you ask what they shoot with? I'm curious to know. Even if you get married at Disney they won't let you bring your own person? (Well, I know of someone who married at the wedding pavilion and they brought in their own photographer. :confused3 That was about 2 years ago) What will be included in your package? With PP the best print size you can get is an 11 x 14. Do you get to choose your country? How does it work?
29apr00
04-22-2009, 03:07 PM
the wedding pavillion and resort locations for weddings don't count....those you can still use your own photographer. But from contracts signed from October of last year onward, if you are in the park whether it be the wedding, reception or dessert party, you must use Disney's photographer.
I believe you can go all the way up to a 20x16 wall portrait. I have no idea what kind of camera they use.....i wouldn't know what it meant if they told me anyway.
You can choose your own country, you get to pick 2. Normally they recommend Italy and another country. You get a proof book, 4x6 prints of all shots, then an album of 12 4x6 prints.
Here's the website....you can see these are totally different from the Photopass shoots.

I've seen several of the photographers all using Nikons, which is what we use in our studio. The pp people have D80's and 90's which are 10 and 12 mega pixels. I can blow my pics up to 20x30 - poster size - and even bigger without losing any quality. The only professionals I've seen around in Disney shoot on D200 and D3 - which are larger format Nikon cameras that have a really high resolution. I'm sure there are others that use more types. I think the D3 has like 24 mega pixels.
Do you think if I bring my camera, that the photographer will snap a couple of shots with it? I have seen them do this for engagement photos.

I think that would depend on the photographer and your kind of camera. I would think a cheap-o point and shoot camera would be ok...but if you bring the big telephoto lens type camera....he's gonna now you're trying to get out of paying +$100 for a big photo and may not do it. :rotfl:

the wedding pavillion and resort locations for weddings don't count....those you can still use your own photographer.

Oh okay. Italy is gorgeous! I wonder if anyone has ever picked America. LOL Can you not buy a disc of your pics? I'm going to go look at the website.

Did they email you a price list? If so will you forward it to me?

I dont' have a price list but from looking at other bride's pics, i think i remember them being as expensive as everything else at Disney. The disc is $1000

Whoa! I do a beach portrait disc...10 photos of their choice for $149. People always buy more but that price brings them in. I'd rather do a disc anyday and let them deal with the prints. Saves me a lot of time and I end up making just as much off the disc. I looked and yeah....this isn't photopass. :goodvibes I meant to tell you...I read the story on how you guys met but I was disappointed to see the wedding/honeymoon pics not there anymore. :confused3 Sidney and I had a similar whirlwind romance. I can't really describe it here on the Dis but you know what I mean...:rotfl2:

Tomorrow (wednesday) is our 9th anniversary!:love: I can't believe it's been that long, but at the same time.... it seems so short! How can it be both? :lmao: We had a big weekend planned for a trip to a B&B up at Lake MIchigan,....and cancelled at the last minute in favor of spending the money on ourselves! :rotfl: Dh got a fishing pole, i bought my Epcot bouquet. :lmao:
I made this for our anniversary....it's a HOT TUB!! :rotfl2:

We went to Olive Garden for dinner tonight, kind of a spur of the moment decision. OMG one of the best meals in a long time! I got the new chicken lasagne stuff!! It was really really good!! Dh enjoyed his meal too, which is saying alot. It takes a lot for him to offer praise to something. Then since it was our anniversary he and Jackie split some Chocote mountaain brownie thing and Joey and I got the new Zeppolina donuts. :cloud9: oh I could eat those every day for the rest of my life! They were HEAVENLY!!! Again, even dh liked them! I want some more!!
Anyway, now that i have officially stuffed myself again.......
went to Macy's this weekend and did finally find some pants for Dh. Good price too, $30!! And with the TB shirt we got from Betsy, DH is taken care of!! We need to find him some shoes which may be the hardest part as DH is worse about shoes than a woman! And now i need to match an outfit for Joey. I think the shirt is going to be the hardest.....everything is WHITE and we need Ivory. Wish TB made little boy shirts!
Booked Beaute Speciale for my hair and makeup for Epcot shoot. My shoot is at 730am and I booked her at 6am, because i didnt' want to pay the extra $50 early morning fee. I don't think it will take too long for only me and my hair.. plus it won't take me too long to get dressed.....assuming my kids stay asleep! :rotfl:
let's see what else.....got the epcot bouquet...i just need to decide if i want pink Calla lilies or white calla lilies. i'm worried all pink will be "too" pink....but white calla lilies against my ivory dress?? :confused3 Still waiting to hear feedback from the floral designer on what she thinks.

I got some of these in a brighter pink this weekend at Target! Love the $1 bin! I'm going to wrap them in Tulle and put something in them....maybe personalized M&M's or something else...not sure what.
Oh yeah!! I booked our flights today!! $137pp nonstop from Indy! GREAT deal!!

OMG those shoes are SUPER cute!!! I love them!!
Happy Anniversary!!! :goodvibes Great cake!! I know what you mean about it seeming long and short. Our 11 years as a couple is coming up in 2 weeks, and when I think about it, it seems forever, and not very long! OMG I watched our wedding video the other day, and I can't believe how young we look too! My kids were like, daddy doesn't look like daddy, LOL! But my sweet, sweet boy says... but mommy looks the same! LOL! I'm sure it's only because I still have the same hairstyle, LOL!
Congrats!!

Happy Anniversary! The cake is adorable.
I think pink calla lillies would be beautiful for your Epcot shoot. Are you doing your Epcot bouquet through Disney?

I'm a little late too. I'll probably be late for my own funeral as I am late to everything else. :rotfl:
Sooo... Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!:dance3::cheer2::banana:
Love the cake, and the shoes are totally sexy! And I think you should go for pink calla lillies. A girl can never have enough pink! (I say as I sit in a pink room with hot pink curtains, & a pink blanket)

If you've managed to escape the economic crisis that has gripped our nation for the past 12 months, than consider yourself very very lucky. We haven't been so lucky. Dh and I are both pretty heavily tied to the automotive industry and our finances are a MESS right now! While I havn't been layed off yet.....things don't look good for my company. And even though Dh isn't in danger of being laid off, his work has dropped of drastically in the past 4 months. We're down about $800-1200 a month! No place at all for saving extra money for an expensive vacation. Time to be frugal and practical.....
The cruise itself was mostly paid for...just a small balance left due. So what we have done is drop from the balcony in Cat 6 down to a gty Cat 12. Hopefully we'll get a nice upgrade ( PLEASE pray for that, i'm so not looking forward to 3 days in an inside with 2 small children!) and most importantly....we've switched to the Deck 7 ceremony.:guilty: I am a little bummed about it.....it was my dream to have it right on the beach. But when you really think about it....the where and when are not what is important here. This is about family being together and celebrating what we have! So this is what we have done....and hopefully we'll get a great discount code or an awesome promo for the WDW stay and that will knock the price down for that.
